Oh good, I was playing with ATT LTE earlier and was getting a constant 32-35Mbps so I wondered how Sprint compared. Those 12s in the previous posts worried me.

Not LTE speeds but nice 3G speeds here in Delaware on the FH05 modem

I have been testing along the 110/10 route from Pasadena to Santa Monica this last week, and things seem to be slowly ramping up.
The downloads have averaged around 6-9mbps and I've gotten as high as 31mbps. So quite a range, and the places it spikes are fairly consistent. So I suspect certain towers either have better backhauls than others, or have just been installed and troubleshooted a little longer - so they're more stable.
Either way, about 30% of that route has a very solid LTE connection on my Galaxy Nexus. Not great, but a nice start, and about a 100x improvement over the 3g speeds I have been seeing.

Portland
Just my $.02 worth,
Portland just got partial LTE 2weeks ago, though it comes in and out at my apartment in Beaverton. It's odd, ill have full bars of 4g, then it just disappears. Either way, I've not seen a speedtest.net test of over 5.5MB down from my sgs3

Sprint LTE speed - Boston area
Sprint LTE speeds in the Boston Area. Download does spike over 20Mbps, but usually stays in the 15Mbps range. Upload is consistently around 7Mbps. Battery life has been fine, I'd rather get less battery on LTE than not being able to stream music on 3g...

Ditto, I live in Ohio and my last speed check on 4G was almost 20 mbs down/15 mbs up.
In Fort Myers I've had less than desirable 4G speeds.

Good luck with that... Maybe they'll stop spending money on socialistic values and give you good folks technology.

3G & 4G results. I'm just south of West Palm Beach. It seems pretty consistent in this area. I've had it for about 2 weeks now, so far so good.

I am vacationing with family in York county in VA and just did a test. I got 5268kbps down and 811kbps up. No where near as good as my speed in Ohio but better than what I saw on your results. You would think that in a metropolitan area like yours it would be faster... meh.

Very slow speeds

Can anyone help me figure out why my download and mainly upload speeds are so slow? I'm approximately 1/4 mile from the tower and it is line of sight without any obstructions. Radios are the leaked 4.0.4 radios and speeds were basically the exact same with 4.0.2 radios. Nothing else was running and the server is about 30 miles from here. Also, I had full bars for 3g and two bars for 4G when I tested.
Top four results are 4G and second four are 3G.

I am guessing only a Verizon tech who can look at the tower can help you there. Anything else will just be a guess.
Mine is pretty bad too around the same as yours during peak hours...I think its due to over saturation at work...in the morning I get around 600 kbps...

Oops forgot this one
here is mine.
Oversaturation? VZW has so many data hungry grandfathered customers on LTE - that plus their aggressive marketing = lots of people using once-50MBps LTE now slowing it to HSDPA+ speeds?
We must work at the same place then. I don't really notice a slow down after most people leave but I'll run a speed test tomorrow evening to see if there is a difference. Btw today around 1030 I got around 30 down and 30 up, kbps.
Here is a screenshot from then.

Still crappy speeds even with less than 3/4 of the work force here today. So I'm thinking its something other than way too many people hitting the same tower.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Network saturation is a *****. Head over to the throttle thread and listen to all the people there tell you how all the heavy data users have no impact on you. The good thing is at least Verizon is proactive about their network and will likely add capacity soon. I'd certainly consider complaining a bit to them though so they know its a problem.

4G signal in status bar

I am running FreeGS3, the latest version with a release of 12/24/12. I just recently started getting intermittent 4G signals on my phone. The question I have is this. Can anyone confirm that on this Rom it will display 4G LTE. Or will it only display 4G. From the way I understand it(and I don't know how this is) you can have a 4g signal without being on the 4g network. I did a speed test and they weren't that great, 6Mbs down and 1.2Mbs up. I guess it's better than 3g speed when I even got that so I should b happy, but a buddy on Verizon is getting close to 20Mbs. Oh well. Thanks for any help guys.

The S3 does not have 4G, it will ONLY pick up 4G LTE signals. Sprint must be upgrading towers near you and implementing 4G LTE in your area. So hold on and be patient, and sooner or later (probably later knowing Sprint lol) you will have steady 4G LTE!

Those are relatively normal speeds when they're first turning on the network. Those were very similar to those in my area (Pasadena, CA) when they had first "flipped the switch." That was about 1 month ago. Also, the speed depends heavily on your connection strength. I've put in some speed tests from last night (full bars) and 5 minutes ag0 (1/4 bars).

Speed Test from Today
Thanks guys. These posts give me hope. I was kind of frustrated when I got the speeds i got, but i was happy to see i am finally getting a 4g signal after 2 years with my OG EVO and about 7 months with my SGSIII and no 4g service.

LTE in New York (Bronx)

It seems to only switch on in my house, ping is great, but the speeds are I'm guessing being worked on. First one should be LTE, second one H+, third just random speed tests. Even got a signal, however no data, on my Nexus 4.
What do you guys think?

I'm in the Mott Haven area.
I am picking up LTE in some random places every once in a while. Some subway statin on Q line (around 42-59th), attached is a screenshot from Prospect Park in Brookyn

Manhattan Subway platforms get LTE in a lot of stations, nothing on the ground. Queens and Brooklyn are mostly live. Getting constant solid connection in Astoria, Williamsburg, etc.
NYC is only 2x5Mhz market so we will see download speeds on par with HSPA+42, peaking around 30Mbps.
Later this year and next year, they'll repurpose MetroPCS spectrum, and we should be able to see twice the speeds of their current LTE. On par with Phoenix, DC, San Jose, San Francisco markets, etc..
All places in queens has LTE. Not Manhatten and Brooklyn.

It also seems to be working in most parts of queens, and a few spots in brooklyn. honestly, since HSPA is already so fast (i'm coming from sprint) i really didn't notice until i looked at my phone and noticed the icon had changed.
been getting it in Queens for a couple of weeks now, some areas the speed test are consistent, other areas it jumps all over the charts. also seeing it now in downtown bklyn(work), not as fast/consistent there. switching from Sprint to TMobile is still paying dividends!

HSPA+ vs LTE

I've had nothing but terrible LTE reception in my area, despite T-Mobile's coverage map showing I'm in the area. So I decided to do a little test.
I woke up late at night and ran Speed Test on my phone to check my speed. I found that I got the best download speeds late at night when I had my S3, likely due to less traffic. Here are my results:
LTE: 3.80 Mbps Down, 1.31 Mbps Up
HSPA+: 12.69 Mbps Down, 1.7 Mbps Up
Crazy isn't it? Good thing I'm on Wifi almost everywhere I go otherwise that would drive me nuts. Results are even worse during the day.
I get pretty amazing LTE service in most parts of KC i usually get between 25-30Mbps down and about 15Mbps up or so. When I'm at home though my service is lousy with about 5Mbps down and 1Mbps up so for me it just depends where I'm at.

Before the Coverage map used to say because lte is still fairly new it's not a very good exactment on the coverage side or something on those lines. Anyway just because it says excellent or very strong doesn't mean LTE it just means it's a great coverage whether it be H or H+ or LTE. But it doesn't specify if that exact location is LTE. At my address it says excellent but it is only with H+ however.

So why don't you set it to only wcdma/gsm?
That's what I did cuz lte where I'm at is ridiculously slow.

Here in Augusta, i'm rarely on LTE, Usually if a get a good signal it's only 4G (HSPA+)
Even when i was on the (V word) network. My network in this area, with a tower 2 miles away i only got 15mbps dn and 5mbps up

HSPA+ is 12mps maybe on a good day.
I'm getting pretty crappy LTE signal too indoors, works fine outside but it worked in my office on my Note 1 as well as outside.
Sent from my SM-N900T using xda app-developers app
same thing here in MN. coverage area says "excellent" but lte is horribly inconsistent and unusable for anything that involves downloading. this applies whether i'm indoors or out, rural or high-density urban area. HSPA+ gives me a consistent 2meg download speed on the play store, and that applies to browser downloads as well, so until they get their QoS issues resolved, i willl likely keep it to WCDMA/GSM.
