Hey guys,
So I wanted to wait for the OTA update from Google for Jelly Bean. It just came through, however I'm guessing because I have Clockwork mod installed, the update failed and I can no longer get my phone to update using this method =(
How can I revert my Clock work mod so I can upgrade to Jelly bean?
Thanks,
Are you talking about nexus 7 or galaxy nexus?

Guess you haven't realized that this is a Nexus 7 & not a Galaxy Nexus forum. But, to answer your question, just go back to stock & update then install CWMR. Or, turn off signed verification in CWMR then run the update or something like that.

Uhh....
If you follow the forum path...
> Samsung Galaxy Nexus > Galaxy Nexus Q&A > [Q] Jelly Bean update
Your words vs. the forum name conflict.
It seems that this is indeed a Galaxy Nexus forum, just judging by the name "Samsung Galaxy Nexus"

You didn't answer my question, my question was:
"How can I revert my Clock work mod so I can upgrade to Jelly bean?"
Nothing you've said helps me, in fact if I hadn't looked at the forum name I'd be on another forum right now repeating words =)

What model phone do you have?
The Galaxy S3 was released in June, so you already have it - in a way

Hey guys!
Answered my own question. Here's how to remove Clockworkmod:
1) Download the stock recovery for your device
2) place it in the root of your sd, then power off your phone and remove the battery.
3) Replace battery and boot into Recovery mode
4) Select your Stock recovery file, and "update" your phone.
5) Reboot your phone
Done! CWM is removed. I've successfully updated to JB OTA!
You should add a link to the stock recovery you used. This question gets asked a lot. Just saying.

Hi,
Here it is ...
My Galaxy Nexus (GSM), retail version, official 4.0.2 is virgin No change, no modification, no fastboot-unlocked.
So, anyone have a clear instruction how to flash the official 4.0.4 image that just been released?
I don't plan to install any custom ROM, nor recovery. At least for now.
My system at home is Windows 7, 64 bit.
Thanks.

I am not going to answer this as a simple search will give you answers to all the questions you have. There are tons of threads here with the info you need, just do a little searching.
If you don't understand how to do it after reading all the info, then perhaps you shouldn't...
Not trying to sound like a ****, but one should already have searched before making a new thread in the wrong forum to ask a noob question.
Swyped from my GNex on 4.0.4 AOKP b29 using XDA Premium.
You're phone needs to be "yakju" in order to flash the latest update.
Instructions should be laying around here somewhere.
Otherwise, wait for the carrier to push it to you.

I would reccomend you use the Gnex Toolkit, it is very self explanatory. Use it to flash the 4.0.4 factory image.

Any phone can be easily changed to yakju and you only need to be yakju to receive the 4.0.4 OTA as of now. If you flash it manually using the factory images any gsm galaxy nexus can be on 4.0.4.

...I downloaded the 4.0.4 update and went to install and reboot. But the phone got stuck at the screen with the android belly up and a exclamation point. Pulled the battery and rebooted and was at 4.0.2 still. Haven't gotten another OTA notification. Do I get another OTA alert or do I have to update manually.
I have a GSM Nexus, rooted but with stock 4.0.2. And I activated OTA RootKeeper before downloading the update. Any help will be greatly accepted.

Besides root and maybe unlock your bootloader, did you change anything in your system (install mods, different radio etc. or rename system files)? If you are not completely stock your OTA will not work and you will have to update manually or get back to Stock first.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Nothing changed. Except for root and unlocked bootloader everything is stock.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Well the screen you were looking at (Android belly up) is the stock recovery. If you see that: no need to pull battery. Simply push volume up + power simultaneously and you'll get into the recovery menu. Scrolling through the options can be done with the volume buttons, select with the power button.
That said: I think no one knows for sure but I myself would not wait and update myself. There are a lot of guides here on how to do that and if you flash the stock images you will have the same as anyone who had the OTA. Make a proper backup first (you allways should)! You will lose all your data if you have to unlock your bootloader.

Have you installed CWM recovery installed?
The "belly up" android is the phone trying to boot in the stock recovery to update the phone. But as you may have CWM recovery installed (which replaces the stock recovery) the phone cannot complete the update.
You will need to re-install the stock recovery. I believe you can do this with the GNex Toolkit.

Is it possible to get the Stock Recovery Screen when you have CWM installed? Didn't think that was possible... that it would just boot into CWM recovery. That is why I didn't mention it (trying to learn here).
Same problem here. Stock 4.0.2, rooted, CWM installed.
Does this mean we will lose settings before we are able to update the device?

flash a custom rom wih 4.04 inside

custom recovery is needed in order to install custom ROM dude, is quite simple
and yes, you can root the stock ROM without custom recovery, there are a lot of guide about that in the developer section

So my only option to fix this now is flash 4.0.4 manually (will I lose stuff?) and then root again and get stock recovery back? Sorry for my n00b questions, thanks for your help!
Edit: would it be easier if I just get the stock recovery back and then try to get the OTA to turn up again?

I want to manually flash 4.0.4 and stay unrooted. Should I use the GNex Toolkit to flash 4.0.4 directly or do I need to flash the same version I have on my phone?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I had the same issue described by the OP, the belly up android when trying to update to 4.0.4 from the OTA notification. I had previously changed to 4.0.2 yakju using efrant's instructions from the first post in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1391881
However, I had skipped the optional sections. In particular step 12 to flash the recovery partition. I went back and just executed step 12 (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img) and rebooted. Then I was able to update to 4.0.4 successfully from the OTA notification.
I'm guessing I didn't have the "stock recovery" because I previously had the default Samsung version?
Just got the update again OTA, and again the belly up droid. I'm really pissed now, bc it also reset my Go launcher... Had 7 screens w/ widgets and shortcuts...
Why did it go wrong again? I thought I put back the recovery to stock to solve the OTA problem... Should I do other things? The phone starts to really slow down and I'm ready to toss this piece of c* in the bin...

I had the same issue just now with my phone (unlocked, rooted, stock revcovery), but a quick reboot allowed the update to complete and I'm now on 4.0.4. Did you check the version number again after this latest attempt?
Yes, still 4.0.2.
And of course, my phone says I'm up to date. Lovely, NAAAAAT!

Just use Nexus Root Toolkit 1.5.2. Follow the steps from the below link. After its done you will directly get OTA to 4.1.1 Jelly Bean .

no. just no.
do not use a toolkit. its super simple to convert any GSM device to yakju/takju.
if the OP wants to be on 4.1.1, he can covert using this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895
Hi mate, I have the same unit with you, I am based on the middle east and my initial build was "yakjujp"
what I did:
1.) look for this galaxy nexus toolkit which makes you do everything and I mean everything.
2.) Install it to your laptop or pc.
3.) Download the images for yakju jellybean 4.1.1
4.) Unlock bootloader, root your yakjujp which is still on 4.0.4, ok?
5.) flash JB with the toolkit (do some little effort in making this galaxy nexus toolkit work with your phone and computer.
6.) look for this recovery.zip and flash it to fix the root for your converted device from yakjujp to yakju.
7.) Profit
Try this
Go to setting /apps/all/Google services framework .
And clear data
Then go to system update and try to update several times
It may work

I have the same yakjujp version ..
Goto Settings > About phone > System updates > After download > Select 'Install now'
It'll reboot into recovery mode and you'll see a red triangle!
then press Vol-Up + Power - do not hold buttons only press them slightly
Also try Vol Up+Down+Power if u cant get to recovery again and again
then use Vol-Up/Down and Power button to select from menu..
Install update from Cache/Update
Done!
Tell me if it works ..
I have actually converted to yakju using efrant's method, and enjoying the jb.....
Thanks everyone.......

Hi,
As the title says, I still don't have 4.2 update for my Galaxy Nexus and I can't make it to update. I tried the trick by clearing cache from Google Services Framework app but still can't make it to update.
Couple of days ago I needed to restart it, and I think then started to upgrade, but I didn't have time then to wait so I needed to skip the update, but since then nothing helps. This should heve been updated long ago.
The device is not carrier specific and it was bought from Amazan.
Anyone any idea on what I can do?
Thanks!
1.) root
2.) flash rom
3.)????
4.)profit!

use search, this question has been beaten into the ground.
You most likely have the jc003 build International GNex. That one depends on Samsung for OTA updates. I got a used one from Amazon and this was the case. You should just root it and update it manually. Yeah it is a pain in the ass but there isn't another way. It takes some time to get everything correctly set up but it is easier than you might think.

Hi guys,
Actually i have a galaxy nexus gt I9250M running 4.4.2 Cyanogenmod. I accidentally deleted my phone official 4.0.4 Rom backup. Now i want to make it official. I know to use Odin properly to make my phone official but the problem is i cant find my phone official Rom. I searched samfirmware website but i cant understand which file to choose. As i installed 4.4.2 Rom on my nexus. I cant use the *#1234# code for knowing my PDA. My base band version is TDVLH1. If anyone knows about selecting the right firmware plz help me. I cant check it by Samsung kies as it says my phone model is incorrect.
Thanks,

You MIGHT be able to use Odin... but why... just use fastboot and the correct package from https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Note there are two different maguro sections. You can find your specific one via looking at information in the Bootloader(power and both volume buttons at same time will bring you to bootloader/fastboot mode)
