Has there been an ETA given on next update? - HTC One X

Just out of curiosity, has anyone heard anything from HTC on the release of the next update? I just recently got my One-X and the first thing I noticed was three dots stealing my beautiful screen real estate. Fancy my surprise to hear this is being fixed in the next update ;-)

No

We never get ETAs. Just a bunch of people without a clue, guessing.

I really hate that 3dot menu so I really want that update. After a broken mainboard and lucky me got a new one without charge with a custom rom installed. All is like new now and there's no open bootloader so I wanna wait and see what happends...

Thats good to hear am not the only one lol yer it is very random, never happens when switching on the screen only when switching off.
Would a software bug make this happen? because if the button was at fault surely it would also happen when switching on screen.

I doubt it has anything to do with the power button. It is software for sure. Or maybe it could even be a 3rd party app that csuses it.
Will report back if it happens again and find something new about it

Should i update my stock x?

Hey guys,
I recently bought my one x and i want to root it eventually and right now i would like to leave it as it is. But i want it also to update via the official updates. Will it be harder or even impossible to root afterwards if i update?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I would update personally as there are many nice fixes/improvements in the new updates.

If you plan on unlocking your bootloader via the HTC Dev route then not really.
Sent from my HTC One X
It might affect your ability to get S-Off, but we don't know as we don't have S-Off.

You should go root, update, and flash a custom ROM. From my experience, my One X is my first super phone after jumping over from a crappy Nokia phone.
The first day when I got my phone, I got all excited with playing around it. I've been reading lots of stuff here on XDA. It was very tempting to root in on day one, but I managed to let it stay. But immediately, the day after, I risked it all and tried to root it, even if I don't have any experiece or background on handling an Android device.
All the hardwork payed off and just this morning, I updated my phone to ARHD 7.2.0 on stock kernel. Everything feels better right now than what I had on day 1.
But in the end, it is still your choice if you want to hack your phone or not. But trust me, it's worth it.

Totally agree. I've had Android for a while now and my first few I kept stock for that reason, the OTA updates. Kept my Hero and Desire on stock. I then got a DHD and now have a One X and both of these I rooted and flashed custom ROMs and can honestly say was best decision I made. There are spme quality ROMs and developers in this community. As long as you do your research you shouldn't find it too hard, theres very good guides on here. I am also running ARHD 'cause I like the stock look but its so much smoother and quicker. Most devs are also very good at keeping up with the official updates too (If not quicker in many cases.).
Like monchee said its your choice, but personally I don't think I could have a device now without root and custom ROM!
Hope this helps

You need to unlock bootloader to get root too.
I would suggest waiting at least a couple of weeks to see if you have any defects as HTC are refusing to repair unlocked phones in many instances.

Of course. I just tought the officiall htc ota's would do their job better. I had a legend before i bought the one x and i really enjoyed s-off,cwm and root.

How many times a day do you check manually for updates?

JellyBean is coming, probably just after some OneX+ units sold... After Christmas... Lol
Do you check manually for updates?
I confess... I check 3/5 times a day...
Just a off-topic to relax!
Cheers...

Well... never really, as I'm already on ARHD 10.5 (JB) =) Cheers
Never. If it comes out I'll hear about it anyway. And I'm on a carrier anyway so another delay. A delay for the crappy UI and a delay for the crappy carrier branding. I can't wait until the older generation die off and the people running the world aren't 60 year olds who grew up in a era where a new revolutionary horse and cart came out every 5 years.

I don't check either. And why would I, really? I am very happy with my current combination (n3x, RENOVATE).:good:
Whenever JB is properly cooked, it'll be publicized here, and I'll benefit as everybody else.
I just got an update

I just got an update notification. It was automatic. I am not as OCD as the OP . I will post momentarily if it is JB.
EDIT: Still 4.0.4. Not sure what the update was for. Anyone know the details?
Usually I don't check but this thread peaked my interested to check. Nothing.
OCD much?
I dont, cid 044 Asia WwE
SkyDragon Sense Rom V1
I already got 4.1 Sense. Since i don't chech anymore
Sometimes, when I'm bored. Even though I know it's for nothing.
This my first HTC who isn't unlocked before 1 hour I purchased... Just becouse is in repair every month's... My problems aren't repaired yet... So i'm waiting official JB to send it again to repair.

Hard reset??

Does hard reset remove updates, does it returns android to 4.03??
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
If you are officially on 4.0.4 or on JB no, it will bring the phone back to factory state on the latest software you installed. And i am talking about official software
Thanks,I don't know what to do,after every update one more problem, yesterday I updated 4.04 version with some small update 1-2mb,and it kinda mess up my screen, when I start up phone it has pure white, then changes to some ugly yellowish white, then it changes back again, and now I don't know if I'am tripping or it has yellowish tint, and while I type this message screen sometimes flickers bounces up,what is wrong with this phone,I'am starting to be very disapionted
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Weird, i don't know much about screens.....hopefully the hard reset works. Can you also update to JB ?
No I'am not updating my phone ever again, htc had mess up my phone after every, update I still have blue spot/fog from update to 4.04,now I have to deal with this yellow tint, eventualy I will get rid of this awful phone, worst phone ever...

Development

I'd like your opinion guys on how much development this device might see over the coming months. It looks surprisingly dire at the moment, despite xda opening a forum right after release. Is the lack of Exynos support part of the problem or is it poor pricing and/or sales? What about official CM support? What about Official 4.3 update, I'm beginning to question if Samsung will deliver it as I've been burnt by them before on a new device that got abandoned(Galaxy W).
PS:I don't have one yet but I intend to get a Note 8 soon
Sent from my SGW powered by CM10.1
I'm sure the development will pick. I just picked one up so I'll be doing some development for it

nice to see you here man! its a great device..
thanks i just picked mine up yest might have to exchange it for another one haha im having problems with wifi
wont connect at all, or drops signal?
are you on wireless N, or B/G?
have you rooted yet?
no i havent rooted it yet still stock. It connects fine and seems not to drop the signal but when i try to login it just wont do it. I also cant browse the web or do anything internet related
i'd try to factory reset in stock recovery and start over; if not, return it if its still "under warranty"..
I've reset it twice already haha I'm gonna try and update it through sammobile and see if it helps. I don't have another day off until Tues so I have some time

I hope to see some work done for the note, I just found out 4.2.2 is rolling out for the LTE version. I would help beta test anything I could with the wifi only version. I am hoping to test out mobile odin soon. I have a transformer TF300T an run cleanRom aka cromi 4.7 on it and love it, would like to see a nice stock cleaned out rom an tweaked lol
I think over the next few months more people will pick these up for school an the holidays an then we should see more dev work.
