At&t Samsung Galaxy S3 Overheat, Wi-Fi, and Battery Issues - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I've noticed a few issues with my device.
1. Overheating
-The device overheats when I surf the web (using 3G/4G antenna), run graphic intense applications, or play music for prolonged periods. Also, when I have the charger plugged while using it, the device becomes Extremely HOT.
2. Wi-Fi
-The WiFi connection keeps cutting off when I am well within my WiFi range. During the WiFi tests, I have the device sitting next to other smartphones and the GS3 drops the connection once or twice at least.
3. Battery
-I unplug the device from the charger at 8:00am (at 100% charge), and plug it back onto the charger again at 6:00pm (at 12-15% charge).
I am not a heavy user, but I do check Facebook, Emails, Google Chat, 1 or 2 YouTube (HD) videos, and 4-8 Text Messages per day.
I would consider myself to be between a light - moderate User.
Are you experiencing any of these issues as well?
(I sent an email to Samsung's Office of the President in New Jersey 2 days ago. Yesterday, I received a call from a very friendly and helpful gentleman from Samsung. Today I got a call from my wife, telling me that a brand new Samsung Galaxy S3 arrived to my door.)
If you need the email address for Samsung's Office of the President, please don't hesitate to ask. I will check back later. Thanks.

Yes to battery and overheating. Try my ROM and turn on Power saving - both issues are gone.
WiFi helped by rebooting router.

I'm having similar issues. Strange battery life. Sometimes it seems ok but other times it drains like crazy for no good reason. Wifi sometimes goes into a disconnect/reconnect cycle.
And yes, I'd love to have that email address. Polite and well written emails to the right places can often work wonders. Thanks!

I too would love that contact information. I got mine just last week after using a Captivate for two years, Gets so hot at times i take it out of my pocket because it's uncomfortable! With a 2100 mAH battery I would have expected better battery life, which was part of the reason I got this device!

i would appreciate that email address. thx will be in order.

if i could get that email as well i would be very grateful. my phone seems laggy at times and everytime i plug it into the charger about 5-10 mins later a message pops up saying charging paused phone battery temp to high and it drives me crazy because i have to leave my phone off the charger and im afraid that my phone might die and alarm wont go off in the morning .

Samsung Office of the President Email Address
Hey Guys,
Word of advice before you send Samsung an email. Make sure you don't threaten or use profanity. I wrote a simple yet direct email requesting assistance. I myself would not respond to an email that includes threats or profanity... Good Luck !

hrmm....well, looks like you got better customer service than I did. I got an email back which basically said if it's broken I can either send it to them for an evaluation or if it's within the return period I can try to take it back. They didn't seem interested in my mentioning that the problems I'm having are being widely reported by a lot of people.

Hey,
I'm sorry to hear that they handled your issue in that manner. I wonder if the rest of the members in here received the same result.
Did anyone else contact Samsung? Would you please post your results here. Thanks

BTW, I did reply to them again and asked them to please look into it further. They reiterated what they told me earlier. Basically, it's not a known issue, they've forwarded the info I gave them to someone else but they can't say whether it will ever be fixed or even researched.
I had also asked them if they could provide me with a contact at ATT who deals with Samsung tech issues and they declined to provide me with any such info. They said if I wanted to I could contact my local service provider and if I was within my exchange period I should talk to them about exchanging the phone.
Basically, they don't seem to have a clue and didn't seem too interested in getting a clue. As someone who works in IT, I found this a little disappointing.

I'm assuming what is happening here is Samsung is pulling the Apple stunt with the (iPhone 4)antenna issue. They will try to deny it at first, then once it has become public, they will acknowledge that there is a known issue and will provide a solution. Hopefully, they don't provide us with fireproof gloves as a complimentary gift.

Yeah, I had hoped Samsung would be different than Apple but they're probably the same. If there's a problem, deny, deny, and deny until forced to admit it by firing squad. And then only admit it grudgingly and make up all sorts of excuses.
It's a nice phone but I guess Samsung as a company sucks just as bad as Apple and doesn't really give a flying frig about their customers or about acknowledging and resolving defects and problems as long as they are selling enough product to turn a profit.

OK this sucks.
Years ago, I got the Iphone 4 and you had to put a cover on it because of the antenna issue.
I get the S3 and to protect it, i get a cover and within no time, after putting it on the phone, the phone overheats, locks up, lags,
If i am charging it, it locks up. I was driving shortly after i put the case on, and it kept making noise but i was driving so i couldnt look at the phone. then once i got home. i noticed it locking up and really warm, bottom right hand corner.
This really sucks as i love the phone but I do know, overheating like this is not good for electronics and will lessen their lifespan.
anyone else having cover issues?

Thinking about buying the SIII
Have you noticed differences between SII and SIII battert autonomy?
The SIII gives more performance but does the battery keeps its durability?
if you have had both phones, what differences have you noticed?
I want to compare the SIII with other phones but not benchmarks but user experiences

Mine gets a little warm when I'm using it with certain apps but never while it's in standby mode. I did also notice that the standby time seems to only drain the battery at about 1% per hour. Sometimes after I've been using it, the battery continues to drain like I'm using the phone when it's in standby. I'm anal about closing/killing apps when not in use too.

Got a reply within 20 mins:

Thank you

Im with Sprint but I am having the same issues as alot of people also. My phone overheats when charging and using and the WiFi signal is absolutely horrible unless I stand right next to the router.

Well it seems my heat issues are normal from what everyone is saying here. Would everyone say this is the hottest phone anyone as ever owned? The closest thing for me is an S2 and that got hit only while gaming. Surfing the Web was fine. This phone feels hot in 5 minutes of surfing on wifi. That just seems crazy.

Nothing good to say as a BT user, have reset phone so as to get away from there lame programming.
Lol yeh I had read all these already, usually because my HomeHub fails me on a daily basis (Misses his Netgear )
Hi,
I got my BT Total broadband package last week, personally I can’t say a bad word about it, in fact very impressed so far.
Granted the HTC s620 is the first phone of its kind I have ever had so I can’t compare but I love the little device. Good screen, good camera, clear calls, good reception, no problems setting up email, thumbs up all round. The only issue I had was with Active Sync but the details of that are in another thread.
I haven’t hammered the home hub yet but again so far it’s being kicking out a good strong signal since I set it up.

How long does your battery last???
Obviously it depends on what your doing but on standby it’s lasting about 5 days, with average use, (paying games, web browsing) I’d say 1-2 days. However this is with the standard battery. It comes with an extended battery in the box which I haven’t used yet, but I guess it will add about 25-40% extra, that said I need to try it really.
The only bad is (which it does warm you about) when using the wireless connection to your hub (or any hot spot) it uses loads of power. I left my phone attached to it and the phone powered off in the middle of the night (waking me up) so it literally discharged the battery in a matter of hours just by being connected via wi-fi.

I think you have been lucky and got a BT s620 that works, i was getting 2 days on average use, now i get 4 days of average use without the BT software and i have more RAM available. The only thing i don't have is BBtalk anymore, small thing to loose to make the phone better "work"
On another note, I’ve being treating my new phone with extra special care since I’ve got it, however, I’ve just had a major (and very unexpected) nose bleed. And guess what? Yup blood all over my new shiny Smartphone. But it’s resisted well and cleaned up OK and thankfully functioning fine, so that is hopefully a good indicator that it will be resilient over time.

You are better off sticking with version 2.35 as 2.37 is incredibly buggy. I have the installer for 2.35 if anyone needs it.
Battery life varies from 2 - 4 days depending on how often you use WiFi. If you use BBTalk a lot then be prepared to charge daily (not really an issue IMHO)
Ive had mine a few weeks now and I havnt had much problems with it whatso ever... then again I havnt had any problems with any of my BT products (homehub, vision, mobile etc...) it doesnt mean that it doesnt happen though as I have heard other people complian about some of their services.
Battery life doesnt seem bad whatsoever, as long as you dont leave it connected to wifi like I did once as that just drains the battery in a matter of hours.
Just come back off of a holiday where I used it to play games (guitar hero III rocks), watch my Family Guy videos using Coreplayer, take pictures and record videos of the kids and even use it as a phone once in a while and the battery lasted me just fine all I did was stick it on charge when I went to bed.
So I personally rate this phone, Ive even stopped using my old HP PPC which I used to take on long trips.
Ive noticed a lot of people also mentioning how much RAM the bt software uses, but I find that if im using a different homescreen other than the BT specific ones my available RAM is a whole lot better and I still have access to the bt software without having to uninstall the bt software.
bt broadband talk
probably a stupid question but..
is there any way to have bt broadband talk installed without having the other bt stuff?
and if so has anyone got the installer?
I get about 4-5 days out of mine before charging but that is on the extended battery the phone was crap to start with but i have unistalled the BT crap and that has made it usable but i would say it is not a very good phone and it is very quirky I much prefer my HTC universal which i will be going back to once my new screen arrives and is fitted.

Hello fellow subscribers,
Is there anyone out there who can tweak the BT Broadband anywhere software so that it installs fully and works with wm6.1 and wm6.5?
Could those who have the know-how please respond? I am happy to get a PM if that's the best way to respond to my question.
Cheers.

If you check the BT Anywhere Forum people have got the VOIP to work with WM6.1, not that i think worth it as it's a bismal.
The rest of the software is pointless especially the AV and the ROM won't even go into it
What you gain in a WM6.1 ROM far supases the loss of BT Software
I don't know where I am missing it, I have googled for this, gone onto the said forum, could not find any discussion there.
I will ry again just now. If you know precisely the link, could I have it please?
Thanks.

2nd Nexus - reception still sucks

I burned through my extended battery in 2 1/2 hours today, and 4g drops were ridiculous. I finally called tech support, and they told me to exchange for a new one. So, I got my second one, still getting 4g drops. My wifes Thunderbolt (my old phone) holds 4g full strenght in my house all day. I am highly disappointed in this phone. If Rezound gets s-off by January 15, I may be switching. It sucks, because I really like this phone other than the signal.
Also, when I talked to tech support, she said there is an update coming in March, which I also read elsewhere on these forums. Why would they wait until March, seems kind of wierd.
I always read about people complaining about this phone. I have this to say to you:
If you don't like it get another phone.
I'm sure there are plenty or Rezounds out there for you.
Haven't you guys read that the LTE network has been on the fritz?
Sent from my Sensation using Tapatalk
Cool story bro.
Sounds like an issue with the LTE tower near you. My reception has been great. I'm at 14 hours and I still have 19% left...barely had it 24 hours. If you have multiple phones wigging out, there are two possibilities:
1) The User
2) The Network
Let me guess, you restored all of your titanium backups and/or restored from Google Servers?
Here's another thought. Did you get a new 4G Sim card or did they just pop the old one into the new phone? Ta-Da.
Omg so many Verizon-noobs complaining, of course it has bad battery, it's LTE...
By the way i dont believe you in going from 100% to 0% in 2 and a half hours with two different batteries, unless you are dumb and has screen on 100% etc. If, however, you are serious, call Verizon or something.
Actually, half you guys are arrogant assholes. No, I installed everything fresh, my f*%$ing Titanium files wouldn't transfer from old Nexus back to my computer without hanging up. Yes, I have a high-end computer with no issues, yes the samsung drivers are installed, MTP sucks. Yes, I owned a TB since day one and never had 4g reception issues in my house. No, there are not tower issues, I know how to troubleshoot. I get 10mbs down on both this phone and the TB, except the TB doesn't lose its 4g signal. And yes, I got a new SIM card with my new Nexus.
Plus, I work downtown on the 33rd floor, and my TB held a 4g signal most anywhere in my office, even in the ****ter in the middle of the floor. My Nexus, burned through the battery twice in 8 hours and was in 3g half the day. But, I guess it's user error. It's clear as day there are issues with reception, it's just can you tolerate it.

No one said I burned through 2 batteries, I said I burned through an extended battery in 2 1/2 hours, screen is on auto, and you are an arrogant prick also. Do you assume everyone is dumb because they have issues with their phone? Also, I have been on 4g since day 1 with the Thunderbolt, I know where f##$ I get 4g and where I don't.
I had a little over 12hrs 36min with minimal usage in an area with known bad signal and had 21% left today, go figure i guess. Granted I only used my phone during my breaks and lunch. Still good for being connected to LTE all day imho. Im happy with the results I've had and I am totally realistic with battery life with an LTE phone, so much so i bought the extra battery+charger. If i happen to be in an area when I know I won't have the option to charge my phone, i swap the battery and have near full charge. It's awesome.
Software issue. Go cry to VZW please.
Yaaaaawn. User err... ogance.
Crazy world, ay?
You guys really are being dicks.
First off, it's clearly not the distance from the 4G tower because the thunderbolt is working just fine.
Second... the guy posts here saying he's had trouble with his second device. And being that an older device is working just fine he's looking for some answers. He's not trying to craptalk the device, but looking to see if anyone else has had the same trouble. That way in can gauge if he should attempt to get a third replacement, or swap out the phone for another device... or maybe someone figured out an issue with a specific ROM or discovered a radio that fixed his issue.
Instead he gets you Trollolols that are being complete dorks by telling him to switch to rezound or cry to VZW.
If you have nothing substantial or beneficial to say to his predicament, why is it so hard to just to stfu and move along?
Take that crap to androidforums.com where it belongs.
To the OP... have you attempted a different radio? Here's an article on it.
http://androidcommunity.com/leaked-...alaxy-nexus-improve-signal-slightly-20111221/
And you can try here to download some.
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/12864-ra...ge__hl__+galaxy++nexus++radios__fromsearch__1
Gall0ws, thanks for the links, and support. I actually flashed the new radios on my last nexus, didn't get much of an improvement. The TB is between 75 - 85 dbm in my house, and the Nexus (including the new one), is typically between 95 - 115. I don't even care about the reading, because when I have 4g, it's fast. It's the drop outs to 3g that suck. Also, going to monitor this device for a few days before I flash the new radios, so I can really say if they made a difference. This just sucks, I was really hoping for an improvement over the Tbolt.
kwkslvr, I will take the screenshot, then punch it in your face. Do you think I am exaggerrating? Do you think I felt like taking all the **** off my phone, reflash everything back to stock and relock it, then waste an hour at Verizon, then reroot and put all my **** back on, I have no time for that. My thunderbolt is the original day one issue by the way, I don't exchange things for no reason. I don't use Titanium for anything other than restoring certain apps that I have that are no longer in market, no data.

I haven't had problems with my GN, but I did find these two articles interesting regarding the whole 4G problems w/ some GN owners. I'm sure it isn't any condolence but...
1.http://www.droid-life.com/2011/12/2...accurate-than-others-there-may-be-no-problem/
2.http://www.droid-life.com/2011/12/2...gnal-indicator-to-better-match-other-devices/
What I find most disturbing is VZW "fix" for this is to just change/ fake what the signal actually is at and they aren't stating if the GN is correct or incorrect?!?! lol
By the way, when I got approval from Tech to exchange my device, she said there was an update coming in March in regards to the signal display issues, seems odd they would wait til March for an update. Just repeating what she said, nothing more.
Here is a speedtest with my signal strength, speeds are fine, and I am reading 101 dbm.

The fix might not be simply falsifying any data but perhaps correcting an issue where the software is improperly calculating it. Which of course could lead to a lot of other issues such as excessive power drain because the phone thinks it needs to increase the power to the antenna instead of leaving it alone or reducing it.
For anyone having an issue with their signal, just keep a close eye on the radio threads. As soon as a new one gets leaked, they'll post it up and you can try it out.
And it can take a while, for example, my thunderbolt didn't have a good radio until on that was leaked Fall of this year. There is no rhyme or reason to it. some radios work better for some and not so good for others.
Obviously, if the phone isn't usable for his area, march is a long time to wait for an official update for verizon. But typically this stuff gets leaked out before an official push anyway.
Anywho, JC. Thanks for the links.
No major problems here
I've been running my phone for 2 days here without any significant battery issues; at least none more that I expected based on battery size and playing time. I've ordered the extended battery for insurance, but I fully expect that to do what I need. My only complaint at this point is signal strength vs. other VZ phones I've seen sitting right next to me. I have being disappointed here, am I alone?
Feel free to take a swing, but I don't think it'll fix your GN. I'll be awaiting the screen shot.
The AnandTech article is completely correct. I experienced a similar thing with my iPhone back in the day. This is a GOOGLE phone with as little Verizon interference as possible. Carriers want their users to think that they have GREAT reception everywhere they go. Those numbers are typically fudged, it's nothing new, I promise. As far as 4G drop off to 3G goes, most LTE phones suffer from this. Your T-Bolt is an older device. I'm sure you can't possibly have forgotten the number of LTE-related issues that device was plagued with early on. I remember a buddy of mine returning his because as cool as 4G was, 10% battery drain an hour on LTE while sleeping was just plain unacceptable. The Bionic has had issues. Most likely ALL VZW LTE phones are going to initially have issues the way that LTE and CDMA are basically taped together with very non-sticky painters tape.
I've seen connectivity issues with my MiFi related to specific locations that I'm in (I'm a heavy traveler with work). Any "fix" will be purely for display purposes. The day that release hits will be the day I'll be on XDA trying to research how block the update notification. The GN is currently displaying true and accurate reception strength and I'm sure it's driving Verizon up the friggin wall.
Ok, I'll stop giving everyone a hard time. But really, if the device sucks in your area, I'd return it and wait for a fix. In all seriousness, as you now confirmed from flashing modems, no modem is gonna make THAT big of a difference overall. Constructively, I'd wipe the device, log in with my Google Account, install zero apps, and see what it does. If my battery life sucked, I'd take it to the Verizon store and ask for a new battery. If that battery sucked (like draining dead 3 hours in sleep mode) I'd take the device back and exchange it.
It's not that I'm calling you a liar, it's that typically that kind of behavior is faulty hardware. Having it twice in a row is abnormal. In all fairness, my first iPhone had a bad battery and died in 2 hours (permanently). My second iPhone would overheat and lock up. My third iPhone was "fine" other than the fact that it was an iPhone.
Did it leave a bad taste in my mouth? Yeah, sure, but I still accept the fact that it was a weird chain of events and that the vast majority are perfectly fine. What I'm saying, nicely, is that both your first and your second device are not normal. It's not Google's, Verizon's or Samsung's fault...well, Samsung's for putting together a few bad units, but you know what I mean.
Haven't said 2nd device has bad battery life, just 4g drops. Hoping battery life will be better on this one.

I definitely think something is wrong with battery life. I bought the extended battery and my phone is at 20% in 4 hours with screen brightness at zero and light texting and a lil fb. I feel like the regular battery lasted longer than the extended one I might test that next.

4th nexus same issue

As of now I'm on my 4th Gnexus and once again I'm being plagued with the same issue I have since my first one back on launch day. Loss of voice during a call, high pitch noises, (think scratching on a chalk board) loss of sound on all key press as well as numbers when dialing.
I have called about this issue. First time around Verizon said take it back get a new one. So I did that and so on happened 2 more times same issue same results. Now on my 4th one its starting again. So verizon said it was Samsung and Samsung said Verizon.
So I was hoping for some input on what direction I should go now.

After so many replacements, I can only imagine that this is happening because of your location?

My wife has the same phone and she has not had any of these issues. On the other had she doesn't use her phone as much as I do! I'm pretty much on mine all day and she maybe looks at it once a day.

This is an obvious case of user-error. The odds of getting a defunct phone that many times in a row is about like winning the lottery, literally.

when you said high pitch noises, do you mean that during a call you can hear a buzzing sort of noise when people speak? I get that on my nexus too, it's slightly irritating but I'll live with it, better than spending time to unroot it, go back to stock and then waste a whole week in the service centre.

It's obviously not user error.. If you read a bit you'd see there is a very lengthy thread about this very issue.. It's called microphone cutting out during call or something like that.. You can replace your phone as much as you want, it's not going to change it. the cause is unknown but I believe they have at least determined it not to be hardware..

That is correct. Audio outbound gets garbled and then lost completely. This is the worst bug of this phone. I can't count how many phone calls where I'd have to hang up and redial because the other person couldn't hear me anymore.

I'd blame the carrier, as i'm on Orange UK, and I use T-Mobile UK as well, and call quality both ends, is excellent
Your wife may not have the issue but are y'all talking on the same tower when the issue arises? I'm on Verizon as well and never had this problem. That said, I don't talk a lot, maybe 400 minutes a month - mostly to my boss that has an iPhone so half the time I can't hear crap anyway due to that fact.
I will say, as a recent T-Mobile transplant that has used Verizon off and on for several years with work phones, Verizon doesn't seem to have the same call quality in general terms. Maybe it's just my ear, but even back in the day I owned some Motorola claim shells that sounded pretty muddy.
Have you tried to replicate the problem on a completely stock phone with no 3rd party apps? I wonder if there's a conflict somewhere.

I pretty much tried everything. New sim cards, using it with nothing installed (stock) I'm super bummed I been waiting on a nexus device to hit Verizon for a while now. I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to put up with this.
What about rolling back onto 3G? Are you on the fringe of LTE connectivity at all?
I know a lot of people talk about call quality. Frankly, I haven't experienced any issues and no one has told me that it sounds like crap (and believe me, I have friends that would mention it, we're a HARSH bunch). I don't doubt they exist, and you certainly don't sound like 3/4ths of XDA that are overly dramatic whiners. Out of curiosity, roughly how many minutes a month do you talk? Any chance that it's just an issue where, well you know, the more you do something the more opportunity to experience something that goes wrong? I used to talk a ton for work, like 3000+ minutes a month. I had a lot more dropped calls then than now, know what I mean?
You know what I'd do, which Verizon would HATE but, hey, you are the customer. I'd take you and your wife's phone into Verizon, and have them flip the numbers around. Keep EVERYTHING else about the phones the same. Her apps stay, your apps stay, just swap the numbers around and try her phone with your regular use for maybe 3 or 4 days. If you can replicate the problem while she doesn't experience the issue at all on your phone, then you can probably narrow it down to either the tower your on, or maybe the phone really is just buggy after you've been on it for a while.
Every so often I'll have a long conversation and a call gets dropped, but I've never not been able to hear someone or them not be able to hear me. Like, they're the typical issues that you could assign to either being a tower pass off problem or the nature of LTE long before the phone (on either my end or the other person's end). But, like I said, that's a rare occurrence for me.
What version of ICS are you running? I had this same problem, specifically and most frequently the one where the audio cuts out of a call, sometimes it'd do it and force me to re-call my girlfriend as many as 3 or 4 times in an hour.
What fixed it was flashing ICS 4.0.4 released from Google themselves (if I waited for Verizon to do it I'd probably be single by now). This fixed it for me immediately right out of the gate. I've had the other issues you spoke of every so often but the audio cut out was constant. This fixed everything. Been running for a while without problems (month or so maybe?).
Eh...you didn't flash it straight from Google. At best, you flashed it straight from the Verizon/Google ota server the test ota is on
I stand corrected, this is what I get when trying to post while on hold at work. Not straight from Google, leaked 4.0.4. Originally found it elsewhere linked to a google domain site, but it's best served up here.

Did not fix the microphone going out issue for me :-( I just flashed the 4.0.4 leak on Tuesday hoping it would alleviate this problem, but I had the mic go out about 15 mins into a call last night. Same story as with stock, had to hang up and re-dial to continue the conversation.

[Q] Sprint Galaxy Nexus Problems

I bought my SPH-L700 through wirefly.com b/c it was $50 cheaper than getting it directly through Sprint. It arrived last week, and I couldn't have been more excited.
Unfortunately I'm now extremely anxious, and am second guessing whether I even want this phone.
The audio is so low, and would vary from one app to the next, even one minute to the next. After browsing the forums and Google, I installed Volume+. The volume problem is better, but I'm not happy that I have to install a 3rd party app for something like this.
The TTS voice changes sporadically when I'm using Google Navigation. The voice sounds all nice and pretty most of the time, but then will switch to a basic computerized voice.
The battery life sucks - but I don't need to say anything more about that, we're all aware of that.
I've had really crappy experiences with bluetooth headsets. I talk on the phone often when I'm driving, so I really want a solid experience. I'm on my 3rd headset now, and all 3 have had popping, and audio fading in and out. My latest, a BlueAnt Q2, sounds great when streaming Pandora or listening to Google Navigation directions, but as soon as I get a call it sounds like crap. I just got off a call and the other party was griping about how bad I sounded to him too.
I'm 100% stock, unrooted at the moment. Is there a ROM that addresses these issues? Any other suggestions to improve this stuff? I really want to love this phone, but it's making it difficult...
TIA
Most custom ROMs will fix the audio issue for you. I'm not sure if the TTS problem is related to the audio volume or not, but I know that I have fewer issues understanding what the navigation is telling me to do now that the volume issue is fixed.
For battery life, what do you consider terrible? What is your average screen on time, and total time on a single charge? Good/bad signal strength? Have you looked to see if you're phone is entering deep sleep?
As for the bluetooth headset, I've got nothing there as I don't use one.
Thanks for the quick reply!
Luckily I'm at my desk most of the day while I'm at the office, and have my phone plugged into my computer - if I weren't, I wouldn't make it through a full day.
Oh and another thing I forgot to mention in my first post - when I use the camera, my phone gets REALLY hot. Just one or two pics, then I back out to the home screen, and turn off the screen - but the battery starts to go really fast at that point, unless I turn the phone off and back on.
Signal strength is usually around 3 bars during the day (that's another thing - I miss the 4G I had on my Epic. Wish we could get 4G on this bad boy sometimesoon...). I'm on wifi at home.
I'd never heard of Deep Sleep until I read your post. I just installed CPU Spy to see if it enters that state... and it says 46% Deep Sleep.
Heating up from taking pictures is not normal. You might want to get WF to replace it.

Wish I could help but don't have a Bluetooth headset.
For the phone getting hot when using the camera issue, do you have instant upload enabled on Google+? If not, do you have a similar auto-share service enabled? I had instant upload enabled for G+ initially, and when I started taking a bunch of pictures, my phone would get hot. Not because of the camera, but because the phone was uploading a bunch of pictures. All the radio usage caused the phone to get warm. Turned off instant upload, and haven't had the problem since.
Yes, I did have instant upload enabled. I've disabled it...
But the bluetooth issues are a big deal for me. I'm in the process of exchanging the phone for a new one through Wirefly. For the record, their "standard" exchange policy is to have you send your phone in, THEN they send you the new one. For a mere $400 deposit, they'll send you the new one up front, then refund the deposit when they receive the returned unit. This is SO much fun.

As a suggestion, should've gotten it through Sprint. They send you a replacement model, and if you don't ship back your old phone in like 2-3 weeks, they charge your account. Much easier, but I understand the frustration, don't blame the Gnex for that.
Anyways, try either SlimICS for a basic ICS rom, or AOKP. Haven't had a single problem with it on my GSM Nexus, or my gf with her Sprint Gnex. Hope this helps.
I got it through Wirefly b/c it was $50 cheaper. In the end, the deposit (for an "advance exchange") is refunded, so it's a moot point - just annoying. (I never blamed GNex for that part Just the battery life, audio levels, bluetooth audio quality, etc.)
Thanks for the ROM suggestions, I'm probably going to take the plunge and root the new phone when it gets here. I usually wait a year or so before rooting a new phone, but we'll see.

Oh as for the battery life, same thing I told her, turn connections off when you don't need them, such as Data, GPS, Bluetooth, etc. Lasts her like 2 days now on a single charge.

Throwing my phone across the room.. Help

I have had this phone a total of 3 days. I am coming from a iPhone 6 and previously had a Galaxy s4 and 5 before this.
This phone is annoying me. Its sad because its so beautiful and if it functioned normally, we wouldn't have a problem. Sometimes I want to throw this thing across the room.
Someone please help me with these issues. I rely on wifi and wifi calling.
Issue 1: When I am home and connected to wifi and wifi calling, my messages and alerts do not come to me when I leave the phone down for a while and it goes to sleep. I will pick my phone up and suddenly I will get all my text messages and alerts. Wifi sleeping is on NEVER already. My iPhone never had this issue, nor did the previous samsung phones.
Issue 2: When I leave my house, the internet connection does not work all the time. Today I left my house and drove somewhere and needed to use my gps. I had full LTE service, and it was telling me I am not connected. This also happened with my apps that also did not work because it was acting as if I was not connected. Issue was fixed with a phone restart. I do not want to restart my phone everytime I leave wifi.
Issue 3: MMS does not receive or send on wifi. I had this issue with prior galaxy, but I am shocked this still has not been adressed.
I also keep LTE voice OFF because like with other phones that have VOLTE, for some reason it just does not work that well. I am in NYC so its not a reception thing.
Those are my MAIN issues and would like some help with them.
The only other thing apple has samsung beat on is that with headphones connected, the apple blows away the samsung in terms of volume and sound quality. Its sad because I have expensive headphones that I would love to use all the time, so I guess I will have to buy an iPod touch when and if I sell the iPhone
Also the screen is very sensitive. I see myself accidentally opening apps when all I want to do is swipe across my menu screens. Not to mention it keeps telling me that hangouts stopped working, when I have it disabled already!
I am stock btw. Latest version, and battery has been good surprisingly. I do not want to root
Anyway, thanks everyone and please help and address the top two issues

As I said, I rely on wifi and wifi calling. I live in a basement apartment with zero service. Who would buy a phone that is almost 1000 dollars, and have to turn off services you pay for to make it work the right way? There is no way wifi could be turned off while I am home

Try doing a factory wipe, that usually solves issues like that.
Factory reset a brand new phone? Sweet.
Contact your carrier and request a signal booster, no charge to you. Then you can rely on data instead of wifi. Also start a complaint ticket for the phone, after a while they will send you to tmobile store and replace phone. Maybe it's buggy, maybe it's not.
But if you really have to throw it I'll come over and catch it.
Our phones must be total opposites because this is the best Samsung phone I have had, this makes # 4, Captivate, GS2, SG4 and now the S6e.
But you never know, visit the Tmobile store, remember that you have 14 days to be totally satisfied, that means replacement with another NEW phone if necessary.
Pp.
I know your pain. The fact that you're on t-mobile for wifi calling and this garbage device just not cutting it huh. I had almost all flagship samsung phone and this one right here is the most frustrating and expensive one of all. This device out of box is just terrible. Memory management, wifi issues, battery leak, FC left and right is just what I experience. Honestly this phone is making me understand why apple is better. Not because the people are stupid. But because they don't deal with half of the broken process we do here in Android. Yea I agree apple is like 2 years behind android but wtf. Now with Jump on demand I am thinking to make the switch to Apple or continue to toss my phone on the table when upset that the device once again is not responding. But lesson learned. Not jumping on new Android devices on release. This phone is a testament why.
Actually the phone works great right now. Maybe it needed a few days to become normal. Battery life is better then my iPhone 6. The text issue seems to ha e gone away. I still from time to time have the issue of leaving my house from WiFi and the phone acting like it has no connection, which requires a restart. I wonder what is causing that. Overall I'm happy with this device.
I can relate to you on T-Mobile LTE, and the screen. Although the reason the accidental app opening while swiping I think was happening because my hand was touching the side of the edge screen. Hold the phone differently or put a case on it and will notice this issue is decreased or gone completely.
There is still a screen issue with this phone and I've noticed it when typing out a fast message. Touch inputs do not register sometimes. That issue has some what been resolved with the case and my hand not being on the edge, but the issue is still there. My Note 3's screen is so much better in regards to accuracy and sensitivity.
For a $1000 phone, this thing should be close to flawless but it does have quite a few flaws, especially with Touchwiz and crappy lollipop. My main issue with TW is the way it manages memory. I just wanna throw this phone at the wall and stomp on it. I'll be in Chrome, go to reply to a text and make a note in Google keep, or whatever, come back to Chrome and it reloading the page I was just viewing a minute ago. So damn frustrating.
I haven't really been on XDA as much as I have in the past, but what ROMs can we flash for this phone because from the looks of it, the dev forum is a ghost town.
In regards to T-Mobile's crud network, just switch your phone into airplane mode, then off, a lot faster than rebooting the phone. This issue I've noticed only happens with LTE, what I do is just go to network settings and switch to WCDMA ONLY, which turns off LTE and connects to HSPA only, which is more reliable and FASTER in my area. Hope I helped someone out there cause I just typed this all on my S6 Edge.
Don't get me wrong, I love this damn phone and wouldn't trade it for any other phone, but better believe I'm gonna swap it out for the Note 5.
This phone has fantastic hardware and the worst software of any phone I've ever owned. I can make compressed twrp backups in like 10 minutes. The screen is the prettiest I've ever seen. The fingerprint reader is very good. The camera is damned fantastic. The software is a pile of dog ****. Samsung should be ashamed. They should be ashamed because I just bought a heavily discounted Fire Phone and loading CM11 on it because I just can't take this crappy phone any longer. I'll check back in on the next update to see if things have improved. Until then I'll be using a phone that cost around 4.5 times less and will somehow perform better.
Funny thing is I have to reboot it if that problem ever happens. Airplane mode doesn't reset it. Weird
Going to have to disagree politely with the OP on headphone output quality. I too have an iPhone 6 and while yes, it has more volume, they both have enough volume to drive proper headphones and I find the output on the S6 to be extremely clean and more lively than the iPhone 6 output. Check GSMArena's review and notice they say it has the cleanest output of any smartphone they've tested thanks to the onboard Wolfson DAC. To each their own with sound quality, but I find the S6 to be extremely good, especially after the 5.1.1 update.

Nonsense! That sort of behavior is not allowed here!
Yeah nothing wrong with disagreeing. In my opinion it's much lower then the iPhone 6. It went from being fun to listen to music on my vmoda m100s to me wishing I could make it louder on my gs6. Also affected the quality in my car via Bluetooth. Much lower output. I guess every one has their preference
