I have an unrooted/unlocked (bought from Google Play) Galaxy Nexus running 4.1.1 (JRO03C) updated through the OTA, but it does not have Google Wallet. Everywhere I read about the features in 4.1, they mention Google Wallet, including their features page.
The app does not show up on the phone, and on the computer it says "This app is incompatible with your Samsung Galaxy Nexus."
Is this normal? Is it happening to anyone else?

Yea, I'm in the US
odd. If you bought it from the Google Play store it should be takju. I purchased mine a month ago and it's takju with wallet installed.
If you go to Google maps, settings > About > What's listed under Device?
I have UK version and I am in the us and gw downloads fine from playstore

If you need it I have the apk when it wasn't available foe my phone then see if it lets you update it

samsung yakju.
And @tdoughone I don't want to install it if its not from the app store since creditcard data is sensitive information.
Also: I bought it 1 day before it went off the market because of the lawsuit, I decided not to root it because 4.1.1 would be coming soon.
I'm sure someone will chime in if I'm incorrect but from I've read yakju is the International version where GW is not available. That's why I believe it isn't there.
If you want GW on it, I believe you'll need to flash it with a rom or install a takju image.
Wrong I have yakju and gw

Thanks for correcting me td. Did you purchase yours from the Play Store as well with yakju?
Hello,
I am having a hard time figuring out where to get the latest Google Wallet. I read recently that VZW broke down and finally lets customers download it from the Play store but whenever I go to it online it says I do not have a compatible device. It wont even find it when I search on my phone.
Back over to XDA and I believe the thread that I found is outdated and does not include the version that will allow you to input any card to it, which is why I am now looking for it again.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

yeah, that's the thread that is outdated. I just went through the steps and it does not have the most recent version.
The new version came out 8/1/12 - READ HERE
That post was last updated 6/21
Read about it here in the play store.

Description
Make your phone your wallet
Google Wallet holds your credit and debit cards, offers, and rewards cards. With this latest release, you can use any card from Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover in conjunction with the app.
To pay in-store, select the card you want to use, and then just tap your phone to any contactless point of sale terminal. Payment information is transmitted via near field communication (NFC). Shortly after you’ll see a transaction record with merchant name and dollar amount on your phone.
Google Wallet keeps you safe and secure. The app has its own PIN, and if you lose your phone, you can remotely disable your mobile wallet from wallet.google.com/manage.

What's in this version:
Wallet, meet cloud.
The new Google Wallet app supports any credit or debit card — Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover. These cards are available for in-store purchases using a phone with the Google Wallet app, or for online purchases at participating merchants.
If you lose your phone, you can disable your mobile wallet from the ‘Devices’ section of wallet.google.com/manage

Worked for me, thanks. Haven't tried to use it yet but I'm logged in.
Thank you for uploading this version! For some reason the app is not letting me update it anymore, even from the "all"section of "my apps" in the market.

You're on verizon, and they are getting more pissy. Hack your build.prop to look like maguro/takju.
told me the right build.prob hack because my nexus dont work and i have enabled market faker too.
I don't see what is taking Google so long to implement wallet for the rest of the world...

I noticed there's a new version of the wallet app, and from the looks of it, the app itself loads on more devices now because Google is using it for more than just tap and pay. Problem is I don't know if this affects the workaround to get the old versions working (changing the build.prop and using the xposed module)

The update may not have been pushed to you yet. The latest update enables Google Wallet on all Android phones.
I would assume you could still install it with the mod/workaround just like older versions for NFC support.

Well seeing as how our phone does not have a secure element chip, we fall under the "Non-NFC devices" category. The app will work for other methods of payment.

Isn't the chip in the sim card? I downloaded just now and it lets me add a credit card. But I guess I can't pay with it?

The new T-Mobile SIM cards with the chips in them are only for ISIS. As far as making a "mobile" payment? No. We can only send payment via email with the app. I'm sure they have plans for more integration with other services and other payment methods in the future. It seems to me that if you can send money via email, you should be able to use NFC just like PayPal does, but I guess that's up to Google.
So we still probably need the older version if we want to tap and pay

can someone explain to me why tmobile s4 hasnt been compatible with google wallet (or vice versa) to begin with? why do we need to make build.prop edits and why is sprints version always compatible

Looks like it as Tap and Play has been removed for our device. We aren't a supported device yet. In Settings > About > Tap and Play is listed as Not Available. Had it throughout the weekend with the Xposed Mod and Nexus Build.prop before the update.
Working just fine on my I337, take that back

1.Do the old Google method mod.
2. Clear data and cache for the app.
3. Update wallet through play store.
4. Let it setup
5. Works like a charm

Tmobile atnt and verizon are backing isis, an upcoming competitor to google wallet. So they have not allowed it on our phones..
To clarify, with the new app you no longer need a patched apk or xposed mod. You do need the libs in the flashable zip. You also need to do the app setup while your build.prop is the nexus or sprint values. So some of you have to redo the setup with a modified build.prop (clear data or reinstall to redo the setup)

This worked for me as well. It didn't give me an option to "tap and pay," using the Sprint build.prop. I had cleared Wallet data and reboot but nothing. When I switched to the Galaxy Nexus build.prop, once I reset Wallet and rebooted, I was able to get wallet going, my pin was already attached to my email, which Wallet gave me an option to choose from.
From there, I was able to set-up tap and pay and pick my default payment of choice.
I also noticed a much more lenient "lock" time for Wallet: immediate, 15 minutes, 1 day. I guess if you're running a custom ROM, be sure you don't select "screen on, locked" option for NFC.
I haven't had a chance to use it, as I'm already home for the night, so I'll be testing tomorrow and reporting back.
Has any of you Wallet users been having problems before this new update? Mine suddenly stopped working at CVS and McDonalds, but I can still read and write NFC tags.
I too was missing the tap to pay section after the latest update.
To get it back I uninstalled the latest update then rebooted. Upon reboot the original Google Wallet wouldn't activate.
I then changed the build.prop to the settings in the thread on how to initially install it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2383251
ro.product.device=maguro
ro.product.model=Galaxy Nexus
ro.product.name=yakju
I rebooted and Google Wallet activated. I then went into the play store and let Google Wallet update itself. I ran it to verify that I could see the tap to pay section then modified the build.prop back to the defaults for the Tmobile SG4. and rebooted.
ro.product.device=jfltetmo
ro.product.model=SGH-M919
ro.product.name=jfltetmo
After this reboot I can still see the tap to pay in the latest version from the app store. I will test it at a 7-11 where I have used Google Wallet previously tomorrow but am hopeful it will work properly.
Hope this helps someone else.

Fyi, I was able to install Google Wallet from the Play Store and configure it. I will check this weekend if Wallet is working correctly. I'm running a debloated route66 MD5 ROM with AT&T MG2 kernel. I apologize if this has already been reported.
Can anyone confirm Wallet is now fully working unrestricted on our device?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You can install and run it fine on most of the devices, even if they don't have NFC. However, only select devices on select carriers have NFC tap and pay support.
https://support.google.com/wallet/answer/1347934?hl=en
loserskater made a modified Wallet that allows NFC tap and pay. Go to the last page and work backward.
