64GB microSD card not recognized - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hello,
I am having trouble getting the 64GB microSD card (purchased from amazon) getting the phone recognize the card.
- The PC is able to recognize the card
At first the phone says that the card format is not supported.
The card was exFAT, I then formatted it to to FAT32 (using acronis true image)
Now, The phone UI is force closing. When I open the files app, it force closes. The phone goes beserk.
I inserted back the 32GB microSD, everything goes back to normal.
How do I fix this issue?
I am running darkside evolution 3
Also, the vista computer doesn't see the card, but the XP computer sees the card... strange

Tried.formatting on the phone?

I can not format on the phone.it does not recognize the card.

I borrowed my friends galaxy note which was not rooted to see if it recognizes it and hopefully format the card. Unfortunately. It still didnt recognize the card

It is ok now. Use HP format utility. Looks like acronis was not a true fat32 or it was corrupted the card. Doesnt matter what the exact reason... it is all good now

[Q] sd card issues (sd card is damaged but still opens in Win7)

Well recently my sd card randomly deleted all my photos from the camera folder and then proceeded to tell me it was damaged. So I formatted it on the phone to the same error of damaged SD card coming up.
I also tried to do it on my pc which I formatted to FAT32 with an allocation size of 16kB, it was successfully formatted but the damaged sd card error still came up.
I can still open the sd card using the adapter on my laptop and copy files to it but once I put it in my phone and reboot, it still says damaged.
Is my 32 card too far gone? I am currently using the card that came with the phone.
EDIT: I also did try the card in a different phone and it worked fine.

Micro SD cards not detected

I'm having some strange issues with my S3 and micro SD cards. I noticed any attempt to access one of the folders will force crash any app that tries.
Then I did a nandroid backup from TWRP recovery and when I rebooted the phone, it claimed that the card was empty or damaged.
So I connected the card to my computer to backup everything that was there. Windows did say it needed to be scanned for errors but it didn't find any errors. It was formatted as exFat so I could put larger than 4 GB files on it.
When I put it back in my S3 it wasn't detected at all. No error messages, it was just as if I hadn't put any card in. Under Storage settings, under mount external SD card it just says to insert a card.
What I've found since then is in order to get the S3 to recognize that there is a card I need to do a full format (either FAT32 or exFAT) on my computer. If I do a quick format, it still won't be recognized. I need to do a full format.
But then, if I unmount and connect to my computer, then eject from my computer and put it back in my S3 it isn't detected again and I have to do a full format again.
I thought maybe the card had become defective, but I'm seeing the exact same behaviour now with a different card. The first one I was using was a class 10 32 GB lexar card. The second one is a class 10 16 GB Adata card. Both do the same thing. After a full format on my computer, they are detected on the phone but after unmounting, mounting on my computer, not doing anything except ejecting it, they stop being detected by the S3.
I've even tried re-formatting the card in the phone but that doesn't change anything.
Anyone know what's going on here? Is the phone defective? I don't want to send the phone in for warranty repair except as a last resort as I suspect that would mean several weeks without a phone.
Thanks!

[Q] sd card not mounting for anyone else?

I've been having problems with the external sd card, when i restart it shows 'sd card inserted' in the notification panel but under storage the only options are mount sd and erase sd. Its a generic 128gb sd which i formatted on the computer and the phone, when i hit mount sd it just shows the 'sd card inserted' again but doesn't actually mount. It only works if i format it in the phone and only until a restart. The card works perfectly on my computer. Anyone else having this issue or have a solution, there has to be something quicker than copy, re format and copy back the files
what type of computer did you format it on? in the past I had issues with formatting my SD cards on windows. I either had to format with the phone, a mac, or a linux pc.
I have not had the issue you are describing, but my card does unmount sometimes and then remounts immediately after.
Windows pc, but i reformatted it on the after it didn't mount, could it be the sd card? It was 14$ on ebay but the sellers feedback was 100% for the cards.
I'm wondering if it might be a problem with the reader or the firmware since it reads on the pc just fine.

I actually had a 64GB SanDisk MicroSD card unmount while in use on my G3 then I could never use it again. I'd try to format it and it'd act like it did but the same files/folders were there. I could no longer write to it. I need to still contact SanDisk about it to see if I can get a replacement.
You need to reformat it into NTFS format.
Then try to mount it. This is the case for anything 64g or higher.

potentional fix
I had this problem with my LGG3 not mounting the SD card, I found that taking putting the SD card into your pc/laptlaptop, copy over pictures and music you wish to keep and format it as a FAT32 this worked for me however the Android files on the card had to be deleted I think on of them was corrupting the SD card as it would show randomly on my phone.
Hope this helps

micro sd card problem

I'm having a problem with this brand new 32GB kingston canvas select micro sd card. Bought it for my dad, he's using a 100% stock G5. When first plugged in, the phone asked if the card was going to be used for internal or external storage, chose internal because my dad is kind of an app maniac (yeah, I know, tried to get him to stop but he's stubborn), formatting stopped at 30% for 10 minutes. Rebooted the phone, it stopped recognizing the sd card. Tried it on my phone, which is also using a 32GB kingston sd, and it didn't recognize it either, on the PC it works fine. Tried formatting it to every file system known to man and none of the phones will even know there's an sd card plugged in when using that particular sd card, but both will work fine with other cards. Could someone give me a hand with this?
I would use minitool (windows) or gparted (Linux)
Delete all partitions on sdcard
Create a new fat32 primary partition and format it

thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work. it's as if the micro sd isn't even inserted into the phone, yet on pc it works perfectly. it even passed hw2test!

Other than factory resetting the phone or trying a different sd card there's nothing else you can do

SD card issues on reboot

I bought a G7 Play during Thanksgiving sales at Wal-Mart. It's been running fine until today, when I rebooted.
It's stock. I haven't unlocked the bootloader or rooted it.
I have a 64 GB PNY Elite SD card configured to be portable storage.
Today, when I rebooted, I got a notification "SD card issue. Tap to fix." When I tapped, it wanted to know whether I wanted to use the SD card as adoptable or portable storage, and wanted me to reformat the card regardless of which option I chose.
I turned the phone off and removed the SD card, replacing it with a 2 GB Samsung card. That one functions as expected.
Has anyone else seen this behavior, and is there anything to be done to fix it, or should I just contact Lenovo?
Thanks!
Try using another phone with this SD Card. If it works then your phone is having incompatibility with the card. Didn't work? Your SD Card data has probably got corrupted. If you can plug it on computer with an adapter check if it shows RAW in disk management. If it does try formatting with windows usual format procedure. If that shows an error your last resort would be using diskpart. use list disk, then select the disk which is your sd card, then type clean, then create partition primary, then format. That didn't work too? Then it's a hardware issue and what you got there is part of e-waste now.
