HBOOT - Downloading... ? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello,
after i restart my Nexus into HBOOT (Bootloader), it displays me "Downloading.... Do not turn off target!!" which update is currently downloading my Nexus device ? and how big is the Update, i'm not connected into WLAN network...
Device Info:
yakju
4.0.4
Thx for Help.

I'm pretty sure you booted into download/Odin mode, it's for use with Odin/Heimdall. You can restart your phone as it's not actually doing anything i.e. it's not downloading an update.
Bootloader/fastboot mode is actually holding both the volume buttons and powering on your device, download mode is only volume down.

thank you for help !
in detail: what is Odin/Heimdall ? sorry for the noob questions ;-)

No worries , Odin/Heimdall is an application (Odin is Windows-only whereas Heimdall is the open-source version of it and cross-platform) that allows people to flash stuff onto their phone (like ROMs, kernels etc.). It's a Samsung-specific tool and it's used mainly because many other phones don't have fastboot enabled. In my opinion fastboot is a lot easier to use (and learn to use).

so it would be possible to flash the new 4.1 JB via the Fastboot mode ?
i read this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1764536) and my choice was the Method 2 in Efrant's thread, because my phone is complety stock. But bevor i flash my Nexus i have to unlock my bootloader...

Absolutely, though you'll also need to use a custom recovery e.g. Clockwork Mod recovery to actually flash the OTA.

Wrong Kernel.

Hi Guys, I went to update to the latest build of CM10 and managed to dl the nozumi kernel without realizing, The phone looks bricked, but it vibrates when I try to boot it. A quick google found another thread similar but for the x8. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/arch...t-1745876.html) is there any hope or am I phone shopping tomorrow?
edit:- Wow I'm a massive helmet, I can't read how to boot into fastboot. Ignore all this!

Sorry about that.
The phone won't boot into the bootloader. Is there a way to use the flashtool??
I think you can boot to fastboot mode with flashtool via ADB ?
For that to work I think i'd have to get my laptop to recognize the phone, this is where I'm having difficulties. The phone will vibrate when the power button is pressed but that is it. No Leds at all
Place your phone in fastboot mode and flash the correct system again.
OR
Place your phone in flashmode and flash the stock firmware.

You must downgrade using the method laid out in the unbricking guide in order to use CWM.
Yeah, the unbrick method is the only way. It sucks doing it... but once you do it a few times you don't even need the instructions anymore...lol I know from experience

If you have Fastboot installed, it is just a matter of flashing the correct recover.img file. Which can be done while in Fastboot mode.

[SOLVED]Need urgent help! Device stucked on black screen...

Oh man not again... I've lost my previous phone (TG-01) in the same way. My phone was working just fine until I decided to flash the turbo kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1817548). By following the directions in the link (http://www.xperiagamer.com/Beginners-Guides/how-to-use-fastboot.html), I've done all of the steps mentioned but then the problems started. When I first opened the device after flashing the kernel, all I saw was just a black screen. Approximately two minutes later the battery indicator and clock showed up on the top right of the screen. With some search in Google, I've found the post below:

So I've tried to follow these steps too but looks like I'm failed. Now I can't flash another kernel because the PC doesn't detect my phone after the "waiting for device" prompt in the fastboot. Before trying something again I thought asking for help in the forums is a good idea. So please, please help me. I'm very upset now and I won't get any better without fixing this problem. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
.
Did you flash the recovery on xperia gamer site?If you did this it is only a recovery not a kernal. You should have flashed a kernal with recovery built in like the turbo kernal which as recovery built in.According to xperiargamer gamer link you need to to connect through flashtool to get into the recovery.I would look in flashtool to try to boot into recovery or flash another kernal with recovery built in then flash a new rom.But obviously flashtool needs to recognise your phone :fingers-crossed:
That's the problem. Before I messed with the settings it had no problems with detecting my device. I guess I screwed up something.
Also just noticed I CAN get incoming calls but I can't answer them. So the phone is actually working, then? What should I do now?
What rom are you on?Can you get in fastboot mode with phone?(holding search while connecting to pc.) is the phone partially working?

When I first flashed the kernel I was on stock 2.3.4, but immediately after the flashing I switched to X Dark ICS. Yes, I can use the fastboot mode, but fastboot does not recognize it while SEUS does. Weird...,
I can enter the boot menu with no problems at all.
Xdark ICS is not compatible with turbo kernel.Only certain roms work they are listed on CosmicDan site. Also when you say you can get into boot menu do you mean via the phone?

Yes, I can enter and browse the boot menu by opening the phone while tapping back and volume up keys. Now trying on a different computer, will post the results.
No use. Damn.
PLEASE HELP ME BEFORE I GO NUTS.
Confused by what you mean boot menu! Do you mean recovery? Also if this is turbo recovery just install a compatible rom via install zip option, there are links to them on CosmicDans site.Download one place on sdcard and flash with turbo recovery :fingers-crossed:

Boot menu?? Recovery?? Cant u just flash a stock firmware via flashtool using flashmode?? If the boot menu you were talking about is recovery u should be able to enter fastboot/flashmode. Regarding the un-recognize problem did u try updating the driver?? Does flashtool even detect your phone??
Sorry for the lot of Q. Just want to get a clear view of your situation.

No need to apologize, you are right, I should have mentioned these.
Flashtool? I don't think it's Flashtool. It's something in the fastboot folder with the command prompt thing. Shift+Right Click if I remember it correctly.
Trying the Flashtool now, I'll keep you updated. Thanks for the reply.

Guess what?.I've flashed version 4.0.2.A.0.42 (UK Generic) with Flashtool. And now my phone is back again! HAHAHAHAHA I'M FRICKING HAPPY!!! THANK YOU GUYS. Ehm... Really, I thank you both. You two have a good day.
By the way, what should I do now? I was thinking about installing some Custom ROMs but I'm too scared to do it after these. Now the phone's running on 2.3.3. Is my rooted/bootloader unlocked status gone?
Congrats. Flashtool is a perfect fail sav. As for root, just use flashtool to root it. BL stays unlock once u've unlocked it. It locks when u decide to lock it. Everythings there man.

Are you rooted? If you arent, you should be able to get the update straight from google because you won't be able to flash it without your phone being rooted and also without a custom recovery. Do you have cwm or twrp?
If you have the official zip from Google, you can use thishttp://rootzwiki.com/topic/13819-how-tovzw-return-to-factory-state-unroot-and-relock/ as a guide. You'll have to change the file names, but it's a start.

Since the user is not knowlegable, I suggest wugfresh's toolkit because its a one-click thing.
*if you are rooted
You just plug your phone in and click flash stock + unroot. This will download the newest firmware and also put into your device for you. Also use the OEM lock if you don't went to be rooted anymore.

It goes into fastboot mode by itself. Or do you mean that ADB is not found?
If ADB is not found then go to settings > about phone > and tap build number 7 times
Then hit back and go into developers options and tick android debugging and try it again.
An alternative way is to power your phone OFF and click volume up + volume down + power button all at the same time! This will put it into fastboot mode and when you plug in your phone and click unroot device, instead of having device is on/normal, have the other option ticked instead

All ROMs have their advantages. Now it depends on what you are looking for.
If you are looking for performance, I would suggest Vanir, AOSPA, Rubik
If you are looking for visual customizations then CM, AOKP are awesome
You will also find more ROMs which are a combination of 2 or more ROMs.
Just go through: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1339
Choose something, flash it!
Since every phone is unique, you will have to fins the "best ROM" yourself!
Happy flashing bud!

Thanks for the links. However, the problem is that .img files cannot be opened. I downloaded several archives, 'A53ML_DTUL_L50_SENSE70_hTC_Asia_India_1.08.720.1_Images.zip', '0PL3IMG_A53ML_DTUL_L50_SENSE70_hTC_Asia_TW_1.32.709.6_Radio_1.1506V24P21.2003.0505_AD3_WT_release_448869_signed.zip' and 'A55ML_DTUL_L50_SENSE70_hTC_Asia_HK_1.30.708.6_Images.rar'. I used 7-zip to extract 'system.img', but without success. Mount also doesn't work (OSF Mount). All three archives behave the same. Has anyone experienced the kind of problems so far?
Actually, I just need stock recovery, Asia_TW_1.32.709.6 for E9 so I can try to run OTA Update. I am reluctant to use it if 7-zip raises an error.
EDIT:
Just figured out I need different software for the purpose
EDIT:
Just wish to confirm that updating firmware worked. My phone (HTC E9 dual, not plus) had TWRP 2.8.6.0 recovery and was rooted. Following the procedure described in the first post I was able to update the device from 1.32.709.6 to 1.32.709.7 TW version. The whole flashing procedure lasts 15 minutes and another 15 minutes for first boot. Battery went down from 56% to 51%. However, the advice is that the phone should be fully charged just in case. All apps and data remain intact after flashing.
There is another update, 1.50.709.3 version. OTA update went well because during the previous procedure stock recovery was flashed. It should be the latest version as no new ones are available. However this one is also based on Lollipop 5.0.2 which is a shame. Hopefully, we will not wait to long for Marshmallow.

Would you explain why you are looking for fastboot function in your HTC phone, If you want to flash files into your phone using fastboot commands, (POWER OFF PHONE
....Press and HOLD VOLUME DOWN KEY(Do not Release)
......then Press and HOLD POWER KEY (Do not Release)
.......When you See HTC LOGO, Release POWER KEY only
..........lastly when you see another menu ...HTC DOWNLOAD MODE(In red color)
..............Release The VOLUME DOWN KEY)
You can connect your phone to the computer via usb cable while in that menu and use fasboot commands on your comuter.

Have these roms been decrypted ?
I must admit that I am quite ignorant when it comes to android flashing and all. I have only just begun getting into this world.
I have a question about official ROMs. My Htc e9+ has stopped working (I posted a thread about it with no reply). I can't enable usb debugging. It's bootloader locked, S-ON and rooted. I never installed any custom rom, no TWRP.
Can I use the rom provided here to flash it? If so, then can I do it using a memory card in recovery? It doesn't seem to work.
