Anybody knows of a good QR code reader? Does the stock camera have this feature? I don't seem to be able to find it.

Best one I've found. No native camera, custom or stock, has this feature. Also questions belong in Q&A.

This is the one I use. Does the job and nothing else.
I like RedLaser. It also reads UPC codes and the like.
(Can't post links yet).
I use Google Goggles, it has other cool features too.
Google goggles or qrdroid

If all you need is a simple QR reader, try Obsqr. It's tiny, minimal permission, no interface just launch from long-press search button and takes you to the right place (url, play store etc) based on the code type.
Barcode scanner works well

Does anyone know if this is possible? I've seen conflicting reports.

I tried it, I can't deal with the ads inside the app. IMO ads don't belong in a "core" app. I know why the dev does, and not bashing it. But I won't use it.
It looks like what I am looking for, if they do an ad free version for a couple of bucks I'd gladly buy it.

Is there a way to mod the stock camera app to have a QR Reader in-built?
No

Oh. May I ask why?
There is you just have to be a app dev to know how to.
I guess so. Only reason I asked is because I thought someone would have made it by now and knew where I could download it, but I guess not. Thanks
I am posting these because I keep seeing links go dead on to much leaked android 4.2.X stuff. None of these are from me at all, Just sharing what I find. I've seen androidpolice and other sites have to remove there links to some of these app's, so I am just posting what I got and will try to keep stuff up to date.
This guy: http://www.qbking77.com/index.html has a lot of videos on the changes in the new leaks. Also search his youtube vid's for instructions.
Google play store is cool because you can remove old app's you don't want any more on your app history etc.
Gmail,s biggest change is that you can pinch-pull to zoom in-out. And swipe to delete a conversation.
The new keyboard has better swipe and lots more to.
I think the new camera is bad to the bone! Do a google search and read up.
I hope ya'll like these, Just remember to use at your own risk
This is the new play store 3.9.1.6 : http://d-h.st/vSI Install like any apk but you have to have unknown sources selected in order to install anything from anywhere but play store.
New Gmail :http://d-h.st/6Uf, you have to use something like rom toolbox etc. to uninstall gmail. Then reboot and instll and your good to go.
This is both camera&keyboard together : http://d-h.st/tQE . Flash this in CWM orTWRP
This is camera only : http://d-h.st/Qd5
This is keyboard only : http://d-h.st/RWx
This is the clock: http://d-h.st/S4P <-I have not tried the clock yet!!!!
Links
You got the same links for play store and gmail they're both the play store :silly:
Thanks, I fixed it.
What is the clock?

Camera:
- Taking pictures is fine, really good quality both front and back
- Sometimes the exposure options don't apply
- 360 sphere panorama is BADASS
- Normal panorama is perf
- **Video recording is bad quality, and the playback is just static and never shows what you recorded**
Keyboard:
- Settings crash when you try to add your own word to dictionary
- Swiping method works perf
Gmail:
- Can't get it to delete my old gmail. Maybe its my ROM or something that doesn't let me mount as r/w, so I put it aside for now.
Play Store:
- Deleting uninstalled app history functions great.
- No bugs as of now everything works as it should

OK here's a question. I like all of you flash a lot. Which means all the words we add to the keyboards vocab will be lost. Any way to back up the keyboard dictionary?

You can use apps like titaniam backup or rom toolbox to backup your data. Some roms don't like data to be restored though. Or you can back up your rom first and try a dirty flash, just wipe system and cash without factory reset depending on what rom you are trying.
I brought this up as a response in the bugs/fixes thread in General, but thought it deserved its own thread here. I'd like to know if this is a TW "feature" or something else that Sammy or T-Mo has baked into the ROM...
On a zoomable page, such as in a browser or in an email, if you swipe up/down along the left or right edge of the screen it zooms in/out as if using a pinch gesture. It gets really (really really really) annoying to have to be so careful of WHERE my finger is on the screen when I want to scroll and to not end up zooming. Are others being driven crazy by this?
I already spent time with Samsung Support to see if there was a way to toggle the "feature" and they told me I was SOL . I put in a feature request with them to add a toggle FWIW.
(this is on a stock, unrooted T-Mo GN2)
This may or may not be helpful, but regarding Google Maps.. Which you may or may not be using while driving: they recently added a double tap hold, slide up and down to zoom. I'd love that feature to be implemented into browser and others with pinch to zoom, but that's gonna be up to the developers.

I had this issue too. I flashed a different ROM (the hacked ROM by cnmard (forget his username) ) in the development section and it doesn't seem to have this "feature." You can flash the ROM or ask in the thread how to turn it off. But it seems you'll need root regardless....
I was wondering why ive never had this accidental zoom...then I realized I have been using a 3rd party browser all along.. doesnt have this feature

I found the feature to be active on both stock and Dolphin browsers. Haven't tried any other ones yet. Which 3rd party browser are you using?

I've been trying to keep the GN2 unrooted (company mobile device policy), but this issue may force me to temporarily root to apply a fix if any dev can provide one that doesn't require a full ROM flash.

I got wife a gs3 and I'm looking for a rom for her. Not having the phone for myself I'm not able to be the flashaholic I normally am for myself. So for people that have flashed a few here, is there one based off what she/I am looking for.
She actually likes touchwiz, so I am hoping there is one with a stock theme, preferably not really themed. I think I prefer it odexed, because from what I understand (I could be wrong) is that with the setup of an odexed rom it is a bit faster feeling. Also more importantly, it has a voice removed with the double tap home button using the voice search/assistant of Google now/search. This maybe common practice but I'm not sure of the community favor of s voice, I find it slower and not as good in my opinion.
If this is an annoyance for a rom suggestion thread, I apologize. Just looking for the guidance of people that for frequently flash the roms offered by this phones devs, and the familiarity of what they offer.
*edit*
After doing research on odexed/deodexed nature, it seems the advantage of odexed comes from only the initial boot. So unless what I have gathered from that little bit research is false, the odexed portion is not important to me.

Graviton or CS ROM.
Graviton is themed but black and blue colored... Not really themed per say. Simple to ogles and all the ztouchwix stuff she would want. Great battery and my wife will actually use my phone with this one.
Only major changes is debloated some and asop MMS and you have to add gs3 weather widget is she wants it....which is easy to do. Also comes with the 4.2 camera. Swap or Samsung keyboard for 4.2 one and she will love it.
dev is awesome as well. He's makes both. Intergalactic is a great one too.

ROM Suggestion
I've been using TWRP and Vanilla Rootbox. I find them very reliable, fast, and well supported. With all the options, you'll probably have to try a few and follow your preferences.
Cheers.
Is the s voice still equipped? If so is there a way to get Google search/now to work in the same manner that s voice does, i.e. double tapping home?

I cant speak for other launchers, but Nova allows you to set any action you want for the home button from your home screen. So, setting the home button to open Google Now from the home screen essentially turns a double press of the home button into automatically opening Google Now. It would be a convenient workaround and would work excatly the same.
