What is the toughest possible case for our phone? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Title says it all, already tried the Ballistics and Trident cases, do they make anything tougher?
Thanks

Custom DUI would do the trick.
If you need somewhere to start, you can try spray foam.

I have the D30 case that I purchased at t-mobile. I've flung the thing at walls, at the floor, dropped it down stairs and phone didn't even blink. I also have a Zagg screen protector and it's kept it scratch free from everything I've done to it as well.

Encase it in spray foam..
I wish Otterbox would make one for the TMo. Used one on my iPhone and it was pretty much indestructible.

I use the d30 case from tmobile. Best case so far.

If Ballistic and Trident aren't tough enough for you, I think you may have purchased the wrong device.

Agree with above, I got ballistics, n have to say its the most durable I've ever owned I've dropped it from 2 stories onto pavement (buddies balcony, was wasted) n it bounced a little, but phone didn't do ****, also dropped it down a flight of stairs to my unfinished basement onto concrete, same thing, just bounced a lil xD had countless drops so far, $ even semi- bricked once n it "accidentally" put a dent in my wall (I accidentally wiped everything, including sd/emmc, forgetting I didn't backup, I was high xD), phone still works flawless
Theres even reviews on youtube of buddy throwing (not tossing) it down the sidewalk a good 30ft n still just picks it up n does his ****
If its still not good enough for ye, maybe you aughta invest in something like this:
http://www.androidauthority.com/sdg...tproof-android-based-rampage-6-phablet-90262/
Get a case for that xD
@Demonr6
Lmao thx for that, BEST answer ever xD

I agree just got my Hercules and have the Ballistic case ,will never b uying another otter box

Had this model about two months now and the D30 from T-Mobile holds up well enough as far as shock goes, but the color starts to fade from pocket ins and outs. Just my two cents

no clue bro.

I didn't have the same luck with the D30 case. It actually cracked down the middle.

Body Glove Clear Case Wit Kickstand. Perfect. PICS!!

I got a body glove case from TMO for $25 and it was worth it.
There are two rubberized parts for grip. Its not bulky and it has the perfect kick stand.
Now some will complain that it doesn't cover the top or bottom but this allows it to fit in the leather case logic holster for icrap 3gs (walmart $14)
I'll let the pics do the rest of the talking.

crazy thing i got that same exact case yesterday too. costs $25 bucks, cute saleswoman.... actually went there looking only for a car mount.
the kick stand is nice and works well, it snaps in place, so it doesnt mistakenly fold easily.
my big problem with it, before i got it, my back cover was like new (i think), but i see a few scratches on it now. i dont know if i did something else, or if i did not snap it on well. I also feel its gonna break whenever i take it off. apart from that its quite nice.
also the car mount i got (its a universal, but i think it might have been made for the mytouch slide). it works perfectly. has a little ball joint on it, so you can watch in portrait or landscape or midway inbetween at any angle. also has a little arm to swivel up or down. the perfect mount. costs $30
I picked up the same case today and seem very happy with it so far. Does not add much bulk and the kickstand seems to work well.
Putting on the case was a bit tricky and taking it off almost seems impossible...any recommendations?
Just pull it off from one side, no trick to it. I did have to replace mine yesterday cause the kickstand stopped locking. SMH

I checked it out when I got my phone... but as you said, it doesn't cover the top and bottom. The kickstand is nice... yes, but other than that, I don't see what this case really has to offer.
I went to 3 different T-Mobile stores and none of them have it. My only concern is since it doesn't cover the bottom, won't it get scratched from whatever surface you put it on top?
This case is awesome.

I got the all black one from Amazon for 21.95. And sir you saved my phones life! I was at the county fair today and I was riding a ride called the zipper (Google it!) So like in the middle of the ride my phone slips out and its banging everywhere. Thank God they have like no gaps for it to fall off. So anyways as I'm seeing my phone bounce every where I'm thinking awww duck! And like 2 minutes later( felt like 2 years) I see my phone in 1 piece with the case scratched up from the plastic. And my screen is alive! I almost died that day.

Anyone Dropped their phone yet!!

Just wondering...anybody was unfortunate enough to drop their phone. Bad thing.....I have dropped mine twice already. Good Thing.....luckily no damage. This is definitely solid build
Dropped mines a couple days after buying it getting out the car forgetting the phone was on my damn lap. Classic. I was so pissed cuz i wouldve bought a case when i bought the phone but they didnt have cases for it yet at the t mo store i bought it from. F'n sucks. A nice dent on the side and top of the phone. luckily the d30 case i copped covers the damage. But damn it hurted lookin at my phone all f'd up.

I actually only had it for 3 weeks and I dropped it twice. Maybe it's just my bad luck, but I have a crack already that runs from an inch from the bottom right to the menu button. Everything still works but it bothers me...Gorilla glass my ass!
Dropped it just as I was taking it out of the case (gave me that warm and fuzzy feeling of RAGE!!!!!). Nice dent in the side plastic but the phone is fine otherwise.
My wife just dropped hers, nasty dent on the side but phone is still 100% im impressed with the build quality.

i dropped mines at the gym three times this week. Good thing it was on a mat floor. I do have a case for it but I don't like using because. Its doesn't grip on the phone tight so it can get annoying when taking out of pocket

waterproof case

Hey does anyone know of a reliable waterproof case for our phone?
I like to go fishing salmon in the fall and would like to be able to have my phone with me in my waders and not have to worry if it gets a little wet. I know the Iphone has some water proof cases. but do we?
I have not seen a dedicated waterproof case for this phone. Last weekend we went to the football game and it was raining hard so I used a quart sized freezer ziploc bag. Kept phone in my casemate tough case and touchscreen still worked thru the bag. Ghetto, hell yeah but phone stayed dry.
I actually seen one it was at the bait store/ marina i go to... Ill get the name of it... I dont think you can call with it but you can do everything else with it text surf web so on

+1 on the ziplock bag, saved my phone during a canoe trip once. Just leave a bit of air in it also not too much and it floats when it falls in the water. I'm sure a waterproof case wouldn't mean much if my phone had sunk the the bottom.
I'm always out in the rain with my phone (field training in the Army). I use snack size zip lock bags every time. It rubs a lot because of sand that get in my pouches or pockets but even if there are a few holes, there won't be too much moisture that gets in. Sometimes the bag comes unzipped, to fix it just tape the opening. Trust me, this phone has been through a lot! I have a zag (or zagg?) shield screen protector so the plastic bag actually sticks to the screen like a second screen protector

Does anyone not use a case on their S3?

(First of all, I'd like to say I'm not sure if I've posted this in the right section - I know how people here feel about that. So I'd like to apologise first.)
As the title says, I'm just wondering if there are people out there who don't use a case at all on their phone. Also, if you don't, why don't you. To those that don't use a cover, how has your phone fared in the time since you got it?
I've been using a case on mine since the day I got it. Today I took it off and forgot how nice the phone feels without a case. I'm feeling like I'd like to not use a case for a while to see how the phone fares in day-to-day life.
So, yeah, any comments are welcome, and thanks in advance!

I haven't put a single case on any smartphone i've owned until I got my S3. And I can't remember the last time I've dropped my smartphone on the ground (KNOCK ON WOOD) so that's how careful I am with my phones but I fully respect and appreciate the concept of accidents.
Searching on Youtube for "S3 drop tests" should tell you why. Every single video i've seen has demonstrated how much damage the S3 fares when dropped on the ground. That was enough to convince me to slap a case on it.
I did a weekend with no case recently cause I liked the feel of a naked phone. Then at a family party someone runs into me as I was standing there texting a friend and I drop and scratch the side of my phone. Nothing Broke but the scratch
Made me sad.

I've never dropped any phone I've had before either. That's why I figured I'd give not wearing a case a go.
I actually used a case on every phone I had. Looking back, it was kinda a waste because I never dropped the things.
The gs3 unfortunately feels like it could snap at a fall of a couple centimetres though.

I don't shell out a few hundred and not protect my phone. Reason I always put a case is for resale value. Sold my S3 pretty fast since it was in perfect condition.

I used to be very protective and used an xtremeguard on the front screen and the back cover, along with a belkin tpu case. But I ended up taking all of it off because my OCD always kicked in when I saw dust caught on the edges of the case, and when the sides my xtremeguard lifted up slightly due to the case. The only protection I have now is that I cut out a small piece of my xtremeguard and carefully applied it to the camera lens so that it doesn't get scratched when I place the phone on the table.
I have been running my S3 this way for almost a month now, and it is still flawless. And I am very careful with my electronics so I expect it to be in pristine condition until it's time for an upgrade.
I just stopped using a case on my phone about a week ago. When its not in a case like super protective of it tho

The only thing I have on the phone is the clear shield protection. It is very thin and feels as if you are naked.
I have tried using the Rock case but couldn't go pass more than an hr. I have dropped the phone a couple of times and actually kicked it once trying to catch it in the air. Very minor scratch in the corner.

For hands like mine, SIII is just too thin to hold without case
If I remember correctly, only one of my phones ever had a screen cover (HTC Compact IV). Apart from that one, every phone has been how the designer(s) intended the phone to be.
I keep my phone in a PDA belt pouch and occassionally in an empty pocket in my trousers.
I treat the £500 phone with the care of a £500 piece of equipment I cannot afford to replace if damaged.

Sucks and hates are two different words but ok. And I guarantee the case I have is different than the defender. My last phone was in a defender case when it was damaged. This case was just released not to long ago and maybe the OP didn't know they have a tougher case that's also waterproof. Just a thought though, could be wrong.

no need for water case i think i will look around for a cool case that has everything
The defender ends up peeling and the outer rubber part barely stays attached to the hard plastic. I've had THREE of the them, I hardly even use my phone and my pockets are never tight and the case never snags. I checked out the Armor by Otterbox today it feels much nicer but it's very expensive and is literally a brick.
The latest outer cases seem stiffer and less rubbery. Have had Ø problems with these...
Otherwise they'll just keep replacing them until you're happy.
Great CS....

I use TPU cases. They're like silicone cases, but they're a little more substantial and do a good job absorbing minor impacts. Plus, they're cheap and come in a variety of styles.
If your using a standard battery UAG is my favorite... rocks.

I had one. Worst case I've ever had. Even at my discounted price of $60 on release day. Way to bulky when a life proof is just as good and not only cheaper but slimmer. Also part of the speaker cover that makes it water proof the screen layer fell off and seemed to be held on with cheap glue or silicon. In 5 years I've never needed a water proof case bit I also take care of my phones. I'd go with a ballistic shell gel. Very nice case and still fairly slim
