Free app to encrypt text file and launch it with external app? - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

I need free app to encrypt/decrypt text file and launch it with external app from the share menu? I do not want to edit or view the file inside the encryption app. I want the app to just encrypt the file on the fly when i open the file from it and pass it to external app by choice. Can you suggest such app?
I searched numerous in the market but they either open inside (no search features) or do not work at all.
Thank you.

No one seen such app?

i'm looking for that app too

Opening stored PDF files

If I download a PDF file from the browser, it gets stored in the Download folder and I can open it with the downloads app. However if I copy a PDF file from my laptop directly to the Download folder (using MTP) the app does not see it. For music, copying to the Music folder works fine. What is the recommended method for copying files like this so they are accessible on the phone?

Have you tried using an explorer program like Astro to see if it's actually been copied to the device?
I can see and open the file with a file explorer (ES in my case) but my point is that surely it should not be necessary to use third party apps to view a PDF file? I found a thread on android central (I'd link to it but I'm too new to be trusted) that said the downloads app is an app for opening downloaded files only, i.e. presumably based on the browser history, and is not an interface to the Download folder.

That is correct. If you want to find a file in a particular folder including downloads, you'll either use to pdf app to browse for it or a file explorer to do the same. Downloads only gives you info of stuff you have downloaded through the phone.

[Q] Change Auto save destination for online files/mms messages?

I know how to make camera save to SD card NOT WHAT IM ASKING.
I am using Chrome, and stock mms, on stockrom[roooted]v2 by docholiday77.
Can i change the default save location to a folder on my SD card? Or have it ask where do you want to save this?
because right now its saving to internal sdcard>downloads. and im having to use my Root explorer to copy and paste the files into the appropriate file location, and its very inefficient.
Create a symlink using root explorer.
Long press the folder you want to use and choose Link to this Folder. The rest should be apparent.
Don't know if it'll hold after reboot.

there's no Symlink with them but there is a create shortcut in Root browser is that the same?
There should be a way to link them using those. Give it a try and see.

Set default download location to download folder in external SD card

How can I set my default download location the the external SD card for the files downloaded from Google Chrome? I don't like to keep transferring files from internal memory to my sd especially if they're bigger files. I have my bootloader unlocked and running paulpizz rom
Chrome doesn't give you an option, and I'm not sure what the easiest workaround would be.
But I recently switched from Chrome to Samsung's internet app. The updated version of it gives you ad blocking support AND it lets you choose your default download location.

Thanks. I may just use that
If you don't want to change browsers you could use Tasker App to auto move the files to the external sd card location later.
Or you could try using/setting ES File Explorer as default download manager and telling chrome to us it. Then set the download path in ES File Explorer.
Also one could switch to Firefox:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1028808
First, you need to know the folder path you want to use. An app like ES File Explorer File Manager will be helpful if you do not have a file manager.
(1) Open a new tab to about:config (type about:config in the Awesomebar and tap the go arrow or tap Enter).
You may want to bookmark this for easier future access.
(2) In the search box, type down and tap Enter
(3) Scroll down to browser.download.folderList and tap Modify, then change the value from 1 to 2 (from "default always" to "last used folder"). The change should appear after a few seconds.
(3) Scroll back up and tap the large "+" button to the left of the search box to add a new setting
(A) The name of the preference should be browser.download.dir (this stores the last used directory)
(B) On the right side, tap Boolean and in the popup change it to String
(C) The value depends on the folder you want. For example:
/sdcard/FxDown (D) Then click Create (if you are too slow, it may clear and you might have to start again)
If you switch back to your other tab and download something, it should go to the new folder.

It may be possible to create a symbolic link? You can do this in terminal and I think MiXplorer can also do it
I think xposed has a module you can use to do this

try using redirect file organizer from Google play store. Best way to organize your files while downloading in one place. I love it

I have that app but all I can find is move app to sd. How do you use it to set the download location for all apps?

can't use this folder to protect your privacy

Hi all! I encounter this message everytime I'm allowing any app i install to access storage, internal or external. System offers me to create a separate folder for that app and the button "use this folder" on the bottow is greyed out. Happens only on g980f. g950f with a9 doesn't have this problem. Online search doesn't help.

Seems like a new privacy option that can't be disabled. As a workaround, I'm using Termux and selecting the Termux:storage/shared directory (Swipe from the left to get the Termux files) from the explorer. If you've granted Termux access to your files, it should have all your files in there too, and it doesn't block that one.
If your device is rooted with magisk then you shoud use "NoStorageRestrict" module

[Solved] LineageOS-18.1 - Calendar Etar app - How to import .ics/.vcs files?

I am using LineageOS 18.1 with the default calendar app Etar.
I noticed a couple of things:
1. If I get an .ics/.vcs calendar file via email or text, Etar is not offered up as an app that can handle it.
2. I've looked for away to import .ics or .vcs files from inside the app and haven't found any. Perhaps I missed something.
I looked under default apps under "Apps & notifications" and Etar is not listed like browser ,SMS etc.
Is there a way to import .ics/.vcs files into Etar?
Any suggestions, comments or advice would be welcome.
TIA

The solution was to use the default file manager "Files" that comes with LineageOS and then clicking on the .ics/.vcs files located in my downloads folder. Etar then gets offered up, as an app that can process the file. I was using a different file manager, which doesn't recognize .ics/.vcs file types.

When doing so on my end it only imports the first event of the .ics file.
