[Q] Moving from one GN to another - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi guys
I'm getting a replacement Galaxy Nexus and want to know how to transfer everything across from my old GN to the new device?
Can I use the GN Toolkit to do this?
Cheers

Make a nandroid back up of ur current one. Transfer the clockwork folder on ur phone to computer. When u get ur new one root it install CWM recovery. Move the back up folder to ur new phone and go to restore.

Will my nandroid backup work on replacement phone?

Planning on taking my nexus to Verizon to swap due to screen banding tomorrow and have backed up all my apps with titanium (as a precaution) and did a nandroid backup. Copied the full nandroid backup and titanium backups folders to my PC. Question is, when I get the new nexus can I just reroot and unlock and drop the files onto the "SD card" and restore the nandroid through recovery?

Remember to retore it to stock ROM, stock recovery and re-lock the bootloader!

Transferring root & backup to anothe phone

Hi
I have the HTC Desire which has been rooted. A few months ago I did a nandroid backup. It was rooted with the cmr2 hboot and a runnymede rom
over the weekend I managed to drop the phone in water! I'm not holding out much hope for it working again.
So I want to ask - can this back up/data be transferred to another phone at all? Or how can I get to the data? I can get to the Hboot in recovery mode
Thanks
Manny
Your nandroid backups are stored in the clockworkmod folder. Just get it from there as for transferring data into another phone, you will have to unpack the data.img file. Then adb push them manually into the new phone

My old phone is a htc desire and i'm looking to purchase a samsung galaxy s2 - will i be able to transfer the back up to the samsung or will i not gain anything?
If it can't be done is there anything i can salvage from the old phone?

I believe there is such a guide on XDA. You can try searching extracting from nandroid with unyaffs or something like that (tapatalk doesn't work well with searches ) the file for extracting is here http://db.tt/mM2YDjDE.
Yes you should be able to transfer the backup. But you will not be able to restore it from recovery. You must either use the method in the 2nd post or use titanium backup's extract from nandroid function to restore your apps and data but I don't know if that's a pro only function or not as I have the pro version.
Possibly if it's a pro only feature and you don't have pro, you can see if the play store has another such app that allows you to do the same

[Q] [Help] My Gnex doesn't save anything

First of all, i hope i have choosen the right thread..
My GNex is rooted and currently i am running aokp_maguro_build-37
When i take a pictures in the main camera app it won't save to the 'SD-Card'...
the shutter takes action but no picture is saved...
another problem i have, when i want to download a file from my dropbox, it won't let me - it says somthing like 'Storage full or unavailable.'
when i go to Settings/Accounts & sync there is a little sync icon with an ! and it says 'Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly.'
i am guessing there is something worng with my 'Sd-Card', so my GNex can't conect with it or something...
i have restet, wiped, and changed the ROM on my phone a few times, no changes so far
okey, i did now a factory reset (to clear my 'Sd-card-section')
didn't work... i still can't store stuff on my 'sd-card'
maybe i have to set other permissions with rootexplorer on the path?
trying now that and if that doesn't work i will flash the stock rom...
edit:
the permissions on the SD-Card are:
R W X
R W X
R - X
shouldn't the last part also be R W X?
I think whatever you did installing aokp screwed things up. Go revert to stock (reflash the official google image) and boot it and check everything is working, then try flashing aokp again.

Building on what he says, it sounds full or absent. Check with a root explorer (es file, or your flavor of choice). Should be a 'sdcard' folder in the root directory. Possibly that is absent or the link is gone. At which point you MIGHT be able to create it again, if not, you'll have to load stock images and it should be created.

Keeping titanium backup files when flashing a new ROM

Hey, I have the galaxy nexus and I was wondering how to go about keeping titanium backup files on NY phone for when I flash more Roms . Other phones have an SD card to keep these files that does not get deleted when wiping data. Since the gnex does not have an SD card, is there anyway to have these files on my phone all the time ? Thanks!

If you are using a custom recovery like CWM, it will NOT wipe /sdcard when you wipe data.
Right, when you do a factory reset before flashing a new ROM, the internal (virtual) SD is left intact. Same goes for NAND backups made with CWM. Also, your music, pictures, etc.
Also, you can always transfer files to your computer for a second backup.
OK, so it just tells the phone this portion of memory is the SD card and to keep it. Okay thanks !

GNex Toolkit Backups

I recently used the toolkit to unlock and root my device, and I installed CM10 on it. I've been having hardware issues so I was going to replace my phone, but the nandroid backups that this version of Clockwork makes are extremely small, and fail when I try to restore. Someone in another thread said it also uses the files in the other folder (blops? blubs? something), so do I move the entire thing? I'm slightly confused over it. Thanks!
