Hey guys, I just noticed this as my battery died rapidly today and I checked the battery info in settings and saw "dbus-daemon" used 67% of my battery. I didn't install any new apps today and I can't recall seeing any updates automatically installed. Does anyone know what this is and if its something I should worry about? Obviously it drained my battery in a matter of minutes so I am worried. I had to do a battery pull because the settings was not responding. Is there some type of spyware/antivirus software I should install? Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

And yes, I did search for any info on this in the XDA forum. Thanks.

dbus-daemon is an application that uses this library to implement a message bus daemon. Multiple programs connect to the message bus daemon and can exchange messages with one another.
I copied that from a website. There ya go.. lol

You're the one acting like a childish idiot, what makes you think anybody is going to want to help you if you are going to retaliate with an ad-hominem fallacy?
OK thanks anton. Very useful info.

I hope you never find out what the drain is, and over time I hope it drains you of your very life force until you cease to exist.
Ingrate.
Oh yes, you're right what is happening to this forum!!!
People posting in the wrong section.
People posting the same thread twice.
People being so ungrateful that they snap at others that offer what help they can.
Its pathetic.
Oh and in case you didn't know, you're guilty of all of these crimes against the community.
What is happening to these forums indeed......

Your phone is full of Summer's Eve. Throw it in rice overnight. That should fix it.

Anyone remember tamigotchi's from back in the day? And then ones that could link together to battle?
I thought it would be pretty cool to make an app similar to that and use NFC as a means to battle them.
Anyone else think thats a cool idea?
I was looking for a tomigatchi but this sounds better. Let's do it!

Battling would be like Digimon, lol. I had both Tamagotchi and Digimon as a kid.

Here's a pic. Hahaha, boy does this bring back memories.

Love the idea
but I'm not sure NFC works like that?
I doubt you'd want to have your phones back to back all the time. That wouldn't be very fun. Best would be to use NFC to initiate a Bluetooth pair or WiFi connection.
Even if you just created an online game with user names to search for and fight I think some people would bite.

I know there was a Tamagotchi app created a long time ago on XDA. I'd like to see what happened with that, but if you start something up like this then I'll definitely hop on this.

Watching it but it is more for Android noobs. Not much to be gained from anyone with above average knowledge about the art of flashing (Most if not all of us here).

I'm on a custom 4.2.1 ROM . if I update through Google will I just lose root and data or will I brick?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Its quite simple actually. Being on a custom ROM you can't upgrade from Google
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
Can't meaning your phone will not only brick but also totally explode. The self destruct is hidden in the battery along with nfc.
Unless you've got a silk cover on your battery.

If sarcastic remarks are what you're expecting from your experience on XDA, you may want to consider reevaluating the quality of your questions and/or posts that give rise to those sarcastic remarks. For reference see here: http://www.catb.org/esr/faqs/smart-questions.html.

Well I was helping out a friend who happens to have a sprint OG. These forums don't seem anywhere as well organized or friendly as the N4 forums though. I looked around a little but couldn't find the root guide, so I asked for help finding the thread. One person was nice enough to point me in the right direction (and I gave them the thanks they deserves) while a few loud assholes got upset at my harmless ignorance. Don't you have better thing to do than waste your time criticizing an internet stranger, while adding nothing to conversation or giving any additional tips. I guess it makes you feel cool or something, but why don't you get out from under your bridge and do something genuinely cool? Also, sorry about thanking you, that was an accident.

I have a Sprint GNEX.
I've read how the phone is supposed to trim when its idle for blah long and charging, and other stuff but I am just curious myself to see when it actually trims.
Is there anyway I can see this? Logcats? (I dont have any experience with logcats)
Thanks!!
BTW: 4.3 IS SO SMOOTH ERMAGERD

I don't think there's any other way than not to notice that the phone doesn't slow down...
Please keep bumping, and it has it. I promise

Lol sorry this is not what I meant. Trust me, I'm a strong believer and supporter of it. It has made my phone feel brand new.
Just the curiosity in me wants to see the specific times that the trim function is called.
