TPU cases: $18 case vs. $2 case - Galaxy S III Accessories

I can't see a big difference between some of these $20 cases and some of the $2 cases. Maybe I'm missing it...
In particular, There's a big price disparity between this $17.95 BoxWave TPU case: http://www.amazon.com/BoxWave-Samsung-i9300-Galaxy-UniColor/dp/B001DNUAG2/
and this $2.99 case:
http://www.amazon.com/igadgitz-Smartphone-Protector-Compatible-carriers/dp/B0089CH50O/
From a quick inspection, they look like they cover the same basic areas of the S3. Is there a good reason for such a large difference? Am I missing something obvious? (It's very possible; my Vibrant sports a cheap ebay case, so I may just never have had the pleasure of a really perfect case.)

Hmmm. Both are different cases so I cant tell you. But if you put the same case with different price tag then I would say theyre both the same but the one from the known company is overpriced.

They are similar but not the same. That "S Line" TPU can be found on ebay for $1 shipped.

Having owned both cheap ebay cases & name brand cases, I can probably help with this a little bit.
Naturally every case will be different.
But the cheap cases I've bought from eBaY have all lacked in fit & finish when compared with the name brand cases I've purchased.
Fit too tightly or not tight enough... and don't feel as good in the hand, or wear out/scuff up too easily.
Your mileage and experience will vary. I'm just voicing MY opinion based on my own experience so far.
I will never buy another non-OEM battery or case or screen protector from eBay (sold out of China) unless it's a WELL known brand with GOOD reviews.
In fact, I will be excluding non-USA sellers from all my future eBay searches.

My 99 cent tpu case works just fine.
I should resell them for $11 on eBay and make some money.

Here's the $2.99 case I got. IMO it looks better than the $2.99 one the OP listed.

Same price, and it does look nicer, AND you've got a review up. Great stuff.

You'll miss all the great cases sourced from Korea and many of the original brand named cases direct from China, instead of paying the bloated price from a USA only seller, that sourced it from China anyways.. Cut the middle man. YMMV, That's just my opinion.

*Review Added 4/20*Found a Cheaper Leather Case 19.99 Free Shipping Pics Added

Well I ordered my Zoogue case and its on a 4-6 backorder so ran across this on ebay. Looks like a nice case so I ordered one figured I would give it a try. Ill post back when I get it. Hey at 19.99 for real leather doesnt look like a bad investment. I am not affilliated or know this ebay seller just figured I'd share my deal with ya, 4805 100% positive feedback what do I have to lose.
My quick review of this case is its really nice and holds the xoom very snug. Very well built and stitches are straight and complete not falling out. Access to all ports when open but cannot charge while the case is closed but thats not a big deal to me. Very thin profile and does not add bulk. Smells like leather but I'm not a leather expert but it might not be. The leather around the front camera and ambient light sensor does not bulge out like other cases people have complained about. Upon further inspection it might be a plastic backing instead of cardboard by looking around the rear camera and speakers. My opinion if your looking for a case and don't want to break the budget this might be the one for you.

i too have ordered this case, i was first interested because he copied my subtitle and used it in his description, the second was that i noticed that there isnt any stitching along the top cover seam that folds not good if thats the case (no pun intended) and the mis alignment of the cutouts, that would concern me since there are small holes for the front camera and light sensor that would be blocked by the slightest mis alignment. the other concern would be that you can not get genuine leather that cheap but can get a hight quality synthetic bi cast sprayed with a leather scent that is very simular to the look and feel of leather, Also if you buy cheap cases they will have a cardboard insert rather than a plastic insert, but at that price it is a great deal and when i get mine from him and its all that he claims im going to save me some money and buy bulk from him, because his retail price is less than my wholesale price and that my friends is what they mean by you get what you pay for. The Pdair is a very high quality case thus the price tag and I it goes the same for the low cost cheap cases if you can have a a case and sell it for $20 with free shipping consider this the seller pays about $3.59 shipping $3.00 ebay fees $1.98 paypal fees and .50 cents in shipping supplies. That's $9.08 leaving $10.91 minus the cost of the case, shipping from China, customs duties and hopefully a $1.00 profit I hope the case is quality because this is one hell of a deal if it is.
Dunno what costs are involved but I'm happy till my other case arrives!

I picked one of these up too. It's cheap. I didn't like the other cases available so I've been carrying my xoom around without one, and I don't really like this one either, but I don't feel bad spending $20 on it. It seems to do the trick and will give a little bit more protection than the nothing I had around it before. I'd rather get something I don't really like for $20 than something I don't really like for $40. I'll use it sometimes. Maybe I'll just leave it on because I'm lazy.
just ordered mine. will let you know when i receive it.
I believe I bought one which is exactly same this one for $11 on eBay.

Zenus 'Prestige' Carbon Series Stand / Case

Well, I just got this case today. It comes in black or white. I got the black one. I'd post pictures but my grandkids are here and I won't be able to do it until tomorrow.
My mini-review:
Pros:
Fit and Finish is beautiful.
Very light. Case and Tablet weighs 1lb 12.6ozs
Very thin.
(Added) The edges of the screen are not covered. Like the Samsung case there are 3 clips to hold the TAB. I don't like the way most ofthe other cases cover the border of the screen with "PU" or leather.
Cons:
TOO EXPENSIVE. It may be "worth" $85 + shipping for it's quality but for what it is it's just too much money
TOO EXPENSIVE
"Stand" is only a single position and the way it works is you have to unsnap the bottom half of the tablet from it's perfectly fitting snap on cover and rest it on the "latch" that holds locks the case closed. I have to believe that eventually the snaps will lose their tension and not tightly hold the Tablet. May be wrong there but it seems to be.
Must be opened to access USB connection.
TOO EXPENSIVE
I have six months to return it so I'm not worried.

I looked at that case but since it was seemingly 2x as thick and made from "synthetic leather" (either plastic or "PU" not sure which) I chose the other. I probably would prefer the Samsung over that one since the Samsung is very thin and lite. Also don't like the "hand strap" since it reminds me of a ping-pong paddle.
However if the quality is just as good it would be a good alternate choice for those who don't mind the thicker vinyl case.
Cut the price in half and I'll buy.

I sent it back for a refund. Too expensive and required "unsnapping" the bottom 2 clips holding the TAB to "stand" it.
Well made and excellent fit and VERY light .... but not worth it to me.

Aw, that's kinda upsetting. It sure looked like a nice case, and for some reason I'm a sucker for carbon fiber styling, but it's sad to hear about those downsides.
If nothing else, thanks for being a guinea pig on that! It was hard enough to justify that kind of money on a simple case even if it was perfect. The USB slot issue is the killer, really.

BTW, it was NOT carbon fiber, it's a vinyl fabric.

I had the idea that for once I'd keep a device sleek and sexy vs throwing a huge case on it. Often I go on trips with the military and jump out of planes (it's not that crazy honestly). As long as you keep a device in a pocket with nothing else it usually doesn't get damaged. Pair up a nice slick case with a good screen protector and you're in business.
We went to a few stores including Best Buy Mobile, Best Buy, AT&T (corporate), Sprint (premier dealer), and those little kiosks in the mall. Of course the little kiosks had the cheaper than ever, eBay cases wrapped in plastic with "Made in China" stamped on them. These can be found for a few bucks on eBay, but they try to charge much higher prices because they can. I might as well note that in general cases are cheaper on eBay (even the premium ones). We found a healthy selection of cases at the mall including Casemate, Ballistic, Incipio (girlie color), and Belkin, but nothing from Otterbox was here yet.
The "Made in China" TPU cases didn't look too bad, but I opted for the name brand Belkin Shield Sheer case. This one is considered clear, but they also come in day glow, reflection, ruby, and black. They were pictured below in that order.

The case fits around the device really nicely. Just make sure you are careful if you have a screen protector on the device. You don't want the edges to pry up because your case is not overlapping the edges. It pushed up my ZAGG, however I shouldn't have installed it right after installing the InvisibleSHIELD. Now it's fine. I just used the squeegee to push the edges back down and make sure the case goes on over it.
I guess this case will keep the phone about as slim as it possibly can be while still being protected. Of course it will not offer as much protection as an Otterbox or the Ballistic cases.
MSRP: $24.99
Official Page: http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=659257
nice video but im not dropping 25 bux on a tpu I got 3 from cruzerlite for that much :highfive:
Haha. Thanks!
I hear ya though. I hate having a new phone without any protection so I usually buy the first case retail.
Really I wanted an Otterbox. The cheap Chinese ones were even selling for this much in the mall. I think I mentioned that. I did get like a 7.49 discount because I bought an overpriced ZAGG from Best Buy at the same time.
Honestly, I find a majority of offerings from Belkin overpriced, no matter the accessory or phone they are paired with.
I got a Shield Sheer (clear) for my SGS3. I bought it from Best buy. I am very happy with it. 3 persons have already asked me where i bought my case. I guess the case is not just feels good and grips well but looks very pretty on my sgs3
topic says shield sheer, but your review is on grip sheer. ?????
i won this and the pocket case for free on a pinterest contest. definitely NOT worth 25.00 each.

Looking for a case for my case

Hi,
I have a Moko Slimline case and I like it a lot. It's perfect to hold but I really do doubt if I dropped it that the case would provide a lot of protection for my tablet. What I am looking for is a neoprene zip closed case ( or any other type of bag / envelope style case) that I can put my tablet / with Moko case in to protect it while I travel.
The cases I find are either too big and the tablet moves around too much or too small so fit both Nexus 7 and Moko case.
To avoid buying a whole bunch of different cases I was wondering if anyone would know of a case that I could use.
Thanks
I am actually using a Thule case that I had bought for my kindle which works great man... Got it on Amazon

I got this when it was down around $5-6, but since this tab came out it's gotten more popular therefore more expensive. I'd still pay the current price. It holds my N7.2 w/Moko Ultra Slim case, charging cable, otg connector, couple jump drives and a battery backup pack all very secure.

Ok here you go. Bare with me. This is the first time that I'm adding pictures to a post.
I actually have three cases.
1. I paid 3 dollars at a Dollar Store in Canada. It was to fit an iPad. I was surprised at the quality. It's a nice snug fit.

To be honest, it was such a terrible experince with Nexus 4 bumper cases.... They again started selling the bumper cases at very competitive prices, but maann.. that was such a bad peeling experience.
I remember i changed thru amazon at least 4 times.. hope they are doing better job right now.
However, I am still considering buying poetic or not for N5, but to be honest, besides that peeling problem, I have seen way better case designs so far on the forum. This is like the same as the last year N4's exact design.
With couple more bux, i might go for a better looking cases
Poetic makes cheap crap. I have their case on my Nexus 7 and after less than a year of low use it is cracking and falling apart. Absolute junk and will not be buying any Poetic products ever again.
There is a reason these things are less than $5 shipped...

To be honest, it was such a terrible experince with Nexus 4 bumper cases.... They again started selling the bumper cases at very competitive prices, but maann.. that was such a bad peeling experience.
I remember i changed thru amazon at least 4 times.. hope they are doing better job right now.

They did offer free replacements without question for those who have had the peeling problem.

Yeah I know, thats how i got my replacements. They have good customer services, no problem about that.. It was just annoying to wait for the new bumper case every single time the previous one is broken.
thats it, no offense.

Mines only broke once but then I wasn't too fascinated with the button feedback so I switched to a Rearth Fusion

I'd have to agree. I had a terribly time with their "Poetic Atmosphere Case for Google Nexus 4". The rubber peeled away from the plastic on two of their cases, and had to fight them for a refund. Check out the reviews:

Perhaps there has been a design improvement with this particular case, but I'd stay away.

As the post said, they are different styles...the first has colored bumpers and the 2nd is crystal (clear) around sides which is not a choice for the first. The amazon page for each does have multiple pictures that show the different sides and color choices.

Thanks, I decided to go with the Spigen Ultra Hybrid though.
I agree with the above... The nexus4 poetic bumpers were terrible quality... Tho the only bumpers apart from the official lg ones out there... And tho they did give good customer service, they would take forever to actually send out the replacement cases...
I think The main reason why the case sold alot on the N4 was due to the glass back easily cracking... People wanted minimal protection while having the awesome 3D design on the back still showing... Since the N5 no longer has that shatter prone glass back, I think lots will go nude this time around... I know I will...
