[q] stock no recovery please help - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a DINC set on WIFI only for the kids now that I have a RAZR MAXX and REZOUND. It said there was an update so I did it. After update it boots through both HTC screens then says droid and gets stuck on the red eye with the two red dots that circle around.

I have no way to enable USB debug.
I am very familiar with rooting, recovering, and flashing as I do it with my MAXX, and my first Incredible was rooted and rom'ed out every other day.
Can someone please help me. The phone is brand new never dropped, not a scratch on it anywhere. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE
P.S
I can get in to HBOOT I have reset, and also used recovery.. Still gets stuck on the red eye.
When plugged in to windows PC it changes to HBOOT USB PLUG

What are you looking to do, just get it working and keep it stock, or root it?

For now just get it back working. She has a rooted Tbolt activated on vzw I'm teaching her how to flash with.. The dinc is for games only on wifi.

You can try doing an ruu if you want it stock. However im thinking since your on the newest hboot it is going to give you a firmware to new error and fail, as there is no ruu at least yet for 4.08.605.15.
If you want to root or the above dosent work, you need to unlock your bootloader with the htcdev site, and then fastboot flash cwm recovery.

ill try ruu first

Download this file http://dinc.does-it.net/Stock_Images/4.06.605.3/PB31IMG.zip, and place it on the sd in no folders. Then boot to hboot, it will find the file and prompt to press vol up to update.

Trying now .... Thank you do much

Shouldnt have to rename. It should already be named PB31IMG.zip

Thank you again. I threw it on the charger for a bit. I have been at this since noon and the last thing I want to do is have it die on me. Ill check back here with results shortly.

Well then if that dosent work and factory resetting dosent work, about your only option is to try to root and flash a rom. First step is to unlock the bootloader. http://htcdev.com/bootloader.

From the HTC site it tells me I need USB debug on and I have no way to get that turned on it never boots up.. any suggestions?

Skip that step. It is going to have you try to do an ruu to get an unlockable bootloader, just skip that as the 1.07 hboot is already unlockable.

Thank you so much for the help. Got it all back using the HTC site and your help. Once that updated used safe mode and turned on usb debug and flashed revoke.. I'm in great gratitude and so is my daughter. She has a Tbolt I'm teaching her to flash roms on. She just turned 8. Her TB is on vzw so i had to use safe mode to skip set up. She is a crack flasher in the making. Bond hair blue eyed future nerd

[Q] Please help

Can anyone please help me? I do not understand what I'm doing wrong. I am unable to achieve S off on my Incredile 2. I've tried 2 diffent computers, several different usb outlets, uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and all it keeps telling me is to go get some lemonade, lol. Fasyboot is turned of and usb debugging is on. So, I'm lost. If anyone has any ideas it would be appreiciated, thx
Are you on froyo or gingerbread? I believe the new revolutionary tool is for GB, so that will make a difference.
I'm on froyo, but followed a video to use revolutionary. It says it will not work with GB. the method that they were using, but did also see it being used for GB another way. Should I update the phone to GB 1st?

Art is right, you need to make sure you are using the correct tool/procedure depending upon what stock version (Froyo or Gingerbread) you are starting from. Good luck!
is AlpdaREV the only way to gain S off as of right now? I cannot update the phone since there is no service to it even with wifi. I'm trying to root it then flsh it to Cricket Mobile.
u can use the gingerbread official ruu and flash it with hboot to upgrade then run revolutionary. usually if you get the lemonade message you have gotten s off though

s-off is what you want, but i'll assume that's a typo o.o
if you're on froyo, use alpharevX, if you're on gingerbread, use revolutionary
sorry i meant S-on
Ok, so I was using revolutionary, but have found posts that alpharev x is no longer in use. I found the Zip, n tried it with no luck once again, please shoot me, lol. Since I generated a beta key prior using revolutionary it is not excepted in rev x. So, i guess I'm left with gingerbread ruu through HBOOT. Can anyone direct me were to find out how to do this? I am unsure which image to extract n if it is to go in the adb file or what. thx

[Q] Please help with incredible

hello i bought incredible off Ebay saying stuck in power loop, figured it would be easy fix already having a incredible for a year or so but cannot make any progress. When you boot normally it goes to white incredible screen bootloops a few times and powers down. I can get into h-boot but no recovery s-on and nothing will flash properly. Any help would be much appreciated and sorry if i did not post in right section this is my first post...
When you say nothing will flash, what do you mean? Have you tried an RUU? If not, you can find both Froyo and Gingerbread RUU from here:
pvillecomp.com
sorry i was having trouble replying...yes i have tried ruu and it would load it to the side in h-boot screen and then go away...in meaning wouldnt ask me to hit up or down to install
Wait, it didn't prompt you to update? That either means the file was not on the root of your sd card in no folders OR it was not labeled: PB31IMG
it found the update but when it finished loading on right side of screen it didn't prompt me to install
i have tried everything i know to do but i know nothing about this phone what version its on or anything...i did unlock the bootloader but still couldnt get anywhere

So wait in order to unlock the bootloader you had to do an ruu exe right?
That is probably the issue, that you unlocked the bootloader with HTC dev. When doing so it updated your hboot version. Now older ruus will not work because it considers it a downgrade. What you need is a PB31IMG.zip of the exe ruu provided on the htc dev site when unlocking the bootloader. I do not know where to find one of these, but i will see if i can extract one from the exe for you. However im not sure it would work because running the ruu in the first place should have fixed the issue.

Ok try flashing this thru hboot, it is stock gingerbread ruu.
http://dinc.does-it.net/New_Hboot/StockGB/PB31IMG.zip
If it flashes see if the phone will boot.
Then try to flash this thru hboot even if the above one works or not. It is Clockwork Mod recovery 5.2.0.2.
http://dinc.does-it.net/New_Hboot/CWM_5.2.0.2/PB31IMG.zip
If it flashes see if you can enter recovery.
you are a lifesaver it let me flash clockwork...havnt tried anything else yet just got that done
well....itll go into clockwork stay about five seconds and bootloops to white incredible sceen
Change that went into clockwork once now when I hit recovery it goes to white incredible screen

I found the answers in Q&A. They, like for many others, just didn't help. I have deemed my issue to be hardware.
Unrooted device won't boot past splash with sd card inserted. Remove sd card and it's in a never ending bootloop. I've tried all the methods I picked up in here. Downloaded and attempted both RUU's through bootloader to no avail. Attempted via bootload to flash CWM...no go. Once I insert a fresh Fat 32 re-partitioned sd card with everything I need on it and try to boot, I'm stuck at HTC white screen, and the sd loses Fat 32.
I really do apologize for taking my frustration out the way I did. My sister has a Dinc and I really like the device. Sorry

[Q] How to root HTC Evo 4G on 2.3.4??

Ok so I've been looking around and can't seem to find really good answers to my questions. First of all I'm wanting to root a Japanese HTC Evo 4G on version 2.3.4 Hboot 2.15. The only way I can really find how to do this is to go through HTCdev and do a bootloader unlock. Now my problem with that is that it says it will wipe all personal information on the phone during this process, which I don't want to have to go through and re-input everything again. All posts I find on this are pretty old and don't seem to apply atm. So I guess basically I have a couple questions. Can you back up this info so that you don't have to back through and manually re-input it all?? Is it safe and good to do for my phone? I'm fairly familiar with the root process as I had an HTC Evo 4G before that I rooted but ended up losing that phone and had to get a new one, that being said it was my first root ever done. Also if anybody knows of roms that work great with the AU mail service?? I had flashed a couple of roms before and couldn't get that service back on the phone no matter what I tried so stayed rooted with just stock rom. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated and links and such. Thank you
Also I should mention that I don't understand or speak enough japanese to actually feel comfortable following a japanese youtube video on how to do this. I watched 1 and understood most of what he was saying but just not comfortable enough to use it as a guide.
Use the Revolutionary tool to root your phone http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/revolutionary
Hmm nope doesn't work. I keep getting Failed to get Root! Not sure what else to do after I punch in the beta key and hit enter it just sits at Zerging Root for about 30 secs then pops that up. Also it appears that maybe the HTCdriver is not working properly? When I look at the drivers from my computer for the phone it says 2.0.7.6 and when I click on the HTCdriver 3.0.0.007 nothing really happens except for asking for permission to run and then I hit run and that's it.
So here's a question now. I see I can delete the driver for this. Should I, then try to run HTCdriver 3.0.0.007?? Not sure what else to do atm.
Try uninstalling the driver and install them with this http://dl3.htc.com/application/sync/htc_sync_3.0.5617_us.exe
Then try using the revolutionary tool

You don't by chance have a PC36IMG file on your SD card, do you? I saw where this was causing some issues for others, particularly when the phone reboots to the bootloader. Delete the file if it's there, rename it or move it off the root of your SD card.
Also, make sure you have USB debugging enabled on your phone, and any antivirus software on your computer turned off. I've used Revolutionary to root & S-off 4 different OG EVO's and I've only had an issue once, and it was due to HTC Sync being installed on my laptop (Revolutionary would open and then immediately close).

Unlocked and cant flash renamed RUU in bootloader!

Probably should have TacoRooted and flashed the ruu but just went ahead and did htc unlock. Then renamed the old ruu as 'PG32IMG' and booted up into the bootloader and tried to let it run. Keeps on loading up the blue bar on the right side but never installs the files! What am I doing wrong, seems like the simplest process out there??
Before anyone blast me for not doing the method that there is more info on in the inc 2 threads its cuz this isn't my phone. Its my moms and was planning on relocking and going s-off. I know it will say re-locked, but its damn near impossible to brick a s-off phone-atleast from my experience on my rezound- and her contract is almost up so its not going be going back! Plus I figured I might be able to edit the characters of the boot screen like on some other htc's and maybe do something similar like 'oem writesecureflag 3' on my Rezound.
Any help would be appreciated!!

just my 2 cents, but doesn't he have to relock to flash an ruu
It can't be the download, relocked and tried to flash - it actually starts to flash but stops and says something like...cannot install older version.
Was going to try to force it through 'fastboot flash...' But adb won't find it - haven't messed with a Inc2 for a while and the s-off process is dif for my rezound - can't remember if you can push it like that while unlocked.

Yup, what he said. Also, this isn't a hard brick, in a hard brick the phone wouldn't even turn on, and would have as much funtionality as a brick, hence "hard brick".

You don't have a hard brick. If you can turn the device on, then it isn't bricked.
You need to use a newer RUU. Check the 'restore stock after Revolutionary' link in my sig (desktop browser) - there are several PC36IMG files in that post you can use.

Depends on which PC36IMG file you choose. Each includes a description of the proper rooting method in the post. unrEVOked is probably the easiest, but Revolutionary is likely safer. And HTCDev is probably the safest of all, but it doesn't give you full S-OFF (but you can flash custom recovery, root and/or flash ROMs fine - just with some firmware limitations).
