[Q] Sending bricked device back to TMo - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hey guys,
I did some searching but I couldn't find anything 100%
So I bricked my phone last week and I got my replacement in this week.
The error I got was regarding the "qualcom interface drivers"
I dont remember the specific error, I just remember texting that to my friend.
From my searches it shows that im SOL on that error. So that's why I got a replacement.
I can't get it to download mode, I can't get it to charge, I can't get the computer to recognize it.
Should I worry about resetting my counters and getting it back to stock rom?

I bricked mine by trying to install a ROM from the "euro" galaxy sII, and had no problems or charge back. I'm not sure they really care, so long as it's physically in good condition; that easy the just re-load the stock firmware then sell it as a reman.

Thanks for the reply zak, thats what I figured since they sent me a refurb anyways.

[Q] Bricked T-Mobile GS2

i bricked it by flashing the villianrom 3.0. i realized my mistake and what i want to know is 1) Is my Phone COMPLETELY bricked? 2) Will a usb Jig work on a COMPLETELY bricked device?
I do have the option of easily replacing it, but that is the last resort thing. I want to know answers to these questions, not our $0.02 on this. i was fully aware of the hardware differences but did not know the VillianROM was for ATT GS2.
If you say you are fully bricked I would assume you tried to get into download, recovery etc...
I would just get a warranty swap to not have to deal with the hassle
Except flashing a ROM Voids your warranty.
Yeah. I have decided that i will, but i still wanna weather the Jig would work on such a device. Thanks.
EDIT: How will they ever know if it wont turn on or respond? lol
to be honest t-mobile does not even care, i used to revert to stock but after the time I sent in a G1 with a custom splash animation and rom by mistake I just wipe my data and send all my phones back the way they are
I can also say they really don't check I returned my vibrant when I messed it up. Never heard back also returned a working g2x rooted because of screen bleed so I think u should be ok

1. Yes its completely bricked
2. Nope, won't work if it's completely bricked
I feel your sorrows, I bricked my phone last week too, had to buy a new one. I will agree with what everyone else is saying though. T-Mobile typically doesn't care if its been rooted / bricked, they'll still send you another phone.
Thanks guys. I took it to the store and got it replaced wihin a matter of minutes. The guys justed picked up a new one from the back and did dome things on the computer and handed it to me. Lol. I wont be rooting for another year. (warranty)

My USB is not working. What can i do?

Ive had this phone since the day it came out, and since then its been dropped several times. My phone is rooted and now my usb crapped out on me.
It does not charge properly(very slow charging) on top of that when i connect it to a computer it will not recognize it at all. I know its not the wire either cause i tried with a different phone and a different computer, my phone wasnt being recognized as a mass storage.
I took it back to tmobile and a new phone is sopposed to come in but, im scared about the warranty being voided because my phone is rooted. I tried making it as stock as i could by flashing a stock rom. But that actually kinda made things worse cause now i dont have cwr , no root, and no usb so i cant use download mode to odin flash. My phone still has darkside's kernel on it too and i tried looking for a stock kernel and theyre all for odin.
So i guess when it comes right down to it, is there a way to get a stock kernel on my phone? I really dont want them coming back to me and saying the warranty is voided cause its rooted :/ is there anything i can do?

Most the time they won't really care a whole lot if it is still rooted
I sent a fully bricked on back that had the flash counter still up, rooted, custom rom and kernel. Not a word

I sent my Vibrant to Mobile Tech Videos to get my USB port replaced. They charge $35.00 and it got back to me in 10 days. Just giving you another option if your scared to send it to T-Mobile.
Well i already contacted tmobile and they going to send me a new phone. It wont be in for another week.
Ill just turn it in and cross my fingers lol
what will they do if they mark it for voided warranty anyways?
Worst they can do is charge you money

Actually ..the worst they can do is keep your phone for a month and a half, call you and tell you its ready, make you go pick it up only to find out it hasn't been fixed because it was damaged by liquid (even thought all stickers are 100% clean).
Yes indeed.. this is indeed what Telus did to me.
In any case, I called Samsung and they took care of the problem for me. Turned out to be a defective USB jack that they just replaced, and they ignored my CM7 install (although they did seem to reflash it back to stock for some reason)... They did not find 'water' damage so the repair was done under warranty.
I don't know about TMo but Telus tends to drop the ball in these kind of situations.

TMobile does not fix it, they replace your phone first (usually) and you send in your old one

I've sent mine back 3 times rooted and never had a problem. They just send you a refurbished one. I wouldn't worry about it. Worst case you can always brick it then they definitely won't know it was rooted.

[Q] Does anyone know if Samsung will take my phone in repair if it's rooted?

So I bricked my phone two days ago, and I have tried the JIG but it wont work. So I'm coming to a conclusion that it's hard bricked and I might need to send it to Sammy for a JTAG repair.. Since the warranty is voided from flashing ROM's, does anyone think they will still do it for me? cause my phone is only a month old. Not sure if this will help, but my download mode won't work either, so would they see my flash counter?
They probably won't accept it. You are better off sending it somewhere else to get it repaired.

Software problem? Nope
Hardware problem? I believe they would
So I did this to my phone. I rooted it I had to custom recovery change the kernel I updated the ROM .
Then I flash the wrong kernel . I flashed an international kernel I 9300 I think it was.
Bricked it bigger than sh*t wouldn't even boot wouldn't do anything it would vibrate and Black screen nothing.
29th day I had it I did this . On the 29th day I hopped my motorcycle and I went right to the AT&T actually I went to RadioShack I asked for a Jay tag or a USB jumper whatever they had .
I then hop back of my motorcycle and went straight to the AT&T store.
This is what I told them and they gave me a new phone no charge know anything I just traded them.
I was using Kies to sync up my phone I had to leave the house in a big hurry with my wife my grandson and my daughter were there my daughter wasn't paying attention. When I got home my laptop was on the phone was on the floor and my phone was on the table with the wire still sticking out of it. Now it doesn't work can you help me.
She was lying she knew I flashed it she was very suspicious I stuck my story.
The laptop was on the floor phone was on the table the computer had come off of the USB wire while the phone was on.
She immediately started trying to do the three button mode to work to wake the phone up. I told her I had pushed all the buttons. She just smiled at me and kept pushing the buttons.
One of the other text came over noticing she was having problems they both tried to put the phone up and then I said what are you doing I noticed you push the buttons are pushed him like how are you pushed the mall once they both rolled their eyes at me. The second girl said is a battery charge batteries dead get another battery so they went and got another battery and put it in it I assured them that the battery was not dead and it was not dead I killed the phone. Finally the second girl just got sick of it all to just give me a phone. The first girl told me that then that it was the 29th day and if I would've waited one day to come in she could've done anything for me.
I asked about a service department or a techie Guy. something because what I really wanted them to do was I wanted them to pull up their jay tag get me to download mode tell me that I change my flash counter.
The only reason I deemed my phone dead was because I loaned my Jtag jumper out and never got another one I wanted them to jump it back to download mode so I could take it home run home on my motorcycle take it home to my laptop and fix it. there was nothing wrong with my laptop and the only thing wrong with my phone was a flash and international kernel.
So anyway they gave me a new phone because I was before the 30th day and I'm more careful now want to flash it.
I'm rooted kernel Koons kernel actually areal ROM new radio not radio new modem the works .

[Q] Very strange brick situation

I was flashing a rom last night using twrp and after the rom was finished it said something like "no rom is installed on phone" so after seeing this I automatically tried another rom and it it seemed to have installed properly so I rebooted the and it never came back on. Doesn't vibrate, doesn't show charging symbol nor will it enter into download mode. The strange thing is when plugged into my pc it gets recognized but it shows this driver error message "driver for qualcomm cdma technologies msm" and the phone gets warm around the camera indicating that it may actually be charging. I've never experienced anything like this and I have searched for bricked solutions but this seems quite unique and I have found no similar cases. Is my phone completely bricked or can it be bought back to life?? If someone can help me it'd be greatly appreciated thanks

Try unbrick sgII, heimdall or buy a little download jig for $5. Usually the phone is a complete brick if the computer says QHSUSB D_LOAD attached. You're phone shouldn't say cdma anything since its a gsm phone so something is wrong there. What rom did you flash?

Yea the cdma thing threw me off to when I first saw it...I just purchased a jig from ebay. I really hope it works cause I was just contemplating selling this phone to put towards an upgrade. The roms I flashed were (can't remember which order) Liquid-JB-v2.0-RC9-hercules and Liquid-JB-v2.0-RC9-d2tmo. Like I said I flashed one after it was done I went to hit reboot and it said there was no rom present on the phone. So I'm thinking good heads up so nervously not thinking I immediately flashed the other. It loaded fine I got no "no rom" warning so I hit reboot system as usual and then...nothing, won't do anything. Tried going into download mode and it just kinda acts as if I'm removing and inserting the usb cable back and forth and it says I need to format my disc
I'm guessing you flashed the d2tmo one second? That's the T-Mobile Galaxy S3. Sorry man, you're bricked

Ok thanks, hopefully it goes smooth. Plus i'm sure do the cost to replace still doesn't cover the amount of money i've paid for insurance so I guess it all evens out in the end lol
Did the jig work?
I have the same exact issue. For some odd reason I wanted to flash the d2mo rom also those heavy drinking nights should not be spent flashing roms to show you are cool to your friends. Regardless made a jig and did not work. jig worked on another friends samsung so know the jig works but not on my s2. Anyone know if at this point a jtag might bring it back to life?.
If you flashed the d2tmo you are toast. That is for the s3. Different kernel and processor.

[Q] Soft/Hard Bricked SGSIII

Several months ago, I rooted my wife's SGSIII (SPH-L710), running stock...
She charges it overnight, but this morning when she started using it, it rebooted itself. However, it would not boot past the Galaxy S3 logo. She took it to the Sprint store and they tried to do a hard reset and I think they tried to reflash the firmware. Afterward, they asked her if it had been rooted and she told them yes. They gave it back to her once they heard this.
Since then, I have been trying to re-flash the stock ROM per Question 2 in the Sprint Galaxy S3 FAQ.
I can get the phone into download mode, and I have a good USB cable. Odin (v3.06) recognizes the phone, but errors out with the message "Complete(Write) operation failed." I have tried other versions of Odin, different computers and cables, but no combination has got this far. I have searched the forums for a similar situation, but have had no luck. At this point, I could really use some help.
Some questions
1. Could the Sprint tech have hard-bricked the phone by flashing stock firmware?
2. In trying to resolve this, I have seen mention of flashing a Partition Information Table (PIT) file. Could this file be corrupt and is there a how-to on restoring it on the Sprint variant of the SGSIII?
3. I am starting to wonder if my only options are the guide, Unbrick a Hard Bricked SPRINT Galaxy S3 (Without JTAG) or worst-case, a JTAG fix. Does anyone think it has come to this?
[UPDATE 1] OK, I got it to work. Thanks to this post.
[UPDATE 2] Was able to get it to boot into the home screen, but it shut off after a few seconds. It did this a few times, but now it won't come on at all.
The phones power button has failed.. That's what went wrong with it, that's why it shuts off. It's known as SDS sudden death syndrome. Common issue with S3 it's a defect. If you can get it all flashed to stock take it to sprint hey usually replace it.
Sent from the future via Tapatalk 4
I was unable to power on the phone. We rolled the dice and took it to the Sprint store. Fortunately, the tech was unable to get the phone to work either. So, it was covered by the insurance. At first, the salesman said they'd have to order a refurbished phone as a replacement, but they were on backorder at the warehouse. So he gave us a new SGSIII. Maybe I should have bought a lottery ticket too.
