CM9 vs. AKOP: which is better?

I'm currently running CM9 Beta1 with ShadowKernel on my Epic 4G. I see there is a new ICS ROM on the block called AKOP Kang. Which one is better?

If you don't know how to spell the name of a ROM, you shouldn't use the ROM.
That said, AOKP is better, IMHO.

I "like" the Kang rom better......for now. The difference I noticed (I followed installion guide for cm9) is a lot of "apk" apps weren't compatible with cm9. But with the Kang they were. Ithink its a lot more stable....MY OpioN. Hope my comment helped. Its also a lot easier to install.

New porter

OK so I'd like to try my hand at porting and I'm gonna try and port a galaxy s 2 ROM to our epic 4g touch. Does cm10 port like most other ROMs?

What's the point of porting CM10 if we already have a source built version for our phones?

If you are going to port something make sure it doesn't already exist for a our device or something totally new added. In that case a something.zip is more easy same if you are going to just theme a current build. :beer:

No et4g's port in the android development section. He started off with cm10 but the data didn't work so he switched to aokp base. His forum is closed because he made puppies.

Im trying to find a full TW rom. Seems like most have different launchers and what not. Are there any roms similiar to the s2 or s3?

The People's ROM is an FC09 GB TW ROM that includes the TW launchers as one of the choices.

RemICS in dev forum gives such GS3 looks. But... it's heavily outdated

Use TPR (the peoples rom), install nova or apex launcher, then install the galaxyS III theme. Your phone will perform and look as colose to a GSIII as possible with that setup.

Nova and Apex are for ICS and higher.

No, RemICS here in our forum is based on a CM9 build as of June... While latest build came around September and is believed to have fixed something...

I figured that'd be the difference. I thought about that route as I've already got the tw 5 launcher but I can never find a cm9 gs3 theme that satisfies me. I may give it a go tonight.

Well went to official cynogen website and accidently downloaded jb instead of ics. Now it won't boot into recovery and it force closes everything. I don't have a computer to use Odin
Guess ill be out of commision for a little while.

I'm on CM10 nightlies and update it about once a week. It has been really stable lately and seems to just work. The only but that bothers me is the volume bug with headphones but it's not much of an issue. My 2¢

I don't know if you tried PAC man 19.0 ROM or not. I've been using it foe a while and it's exactly like paranoid android and cm10. Less buggy and it locks GPS quickly. I've had few problems in the past with getting GPS on few of these ROMs. Give it a try.

Thanks for making the video and letting us know about it. I just went on experimental 2, the stability is amazing already. And my battery is already seeming better than on PACMan

You're suppose to flash a modem separately. Roms don't bring a modem with them.

you'll have data problems most likely using a jb modem on an aosp ROM.
go back to fj12 or fk27. :thumbup:
