Hello guys...as every galaxy w owner wants best possible rom for his/her phone...people try switching between different ROMS and dont figure it out as some roms drain battery...some give fc's at while performing operations...so for those users (mostly noobs) ...best possible soultion is a stock rom...now mostly people say stock ROM is very much laggy...i had the same experience with my stock ROM...but now there is a new ROM Launched for Galaxy W XXLM8 Europe....this is very good as compared to other roms as it also brings some ICS features like Face Unlock...and is much smooth as compared to previous ROMS...
Following Link would help you with that...
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1654643
And for those who wanna use custom Rom...Rebel Rom is a good option....and Cyanogen mod is also about to get its fifth update...so till it's fifth update...You can either use Rebel Rom or there are more that might get ur day good...!
As this is a guide for new users...so if anybody wants to ask any questions about his phone such as Rooting,CWM Recovery or Flashing Via Recovery or Odin....i am always there to help....Thanks

with repect to all rom developers... didnt mean to compare all your rom
i'd like to try all roms, ..just wondering how the newbies decide which rom you will go for
for example i will choose
1. roms which has the most pages of comment
2. the rom that shows highest benchmarks result
3. old chef from old mobile
4. updated frequency , many version, many fix ...
becuase every on of them seem to be very nice & with hard work... difficult to decide
I will fix your post for you due to showing noobiness and such.
1. No one does that, thats stupid
2. Benchmark results can be faked very easily.
3. True, but only if you liked his work before, you will like his work now. But if you seen that chef which didn't make such a good ROM before, I wouldn't go for them.
4. Doesn't matter if its updated or not, you're supposed to find what is best for you and your country's networks. Also most updated doesn't mean its the best.
BUT...
I'll answer them after being such a douche
I would go for these if I wanted the Sense UI:
Android Revolution HD or LeeDroid OneXtreme
If I wanted a Sense-less UI, I would go for these:
eXoDiZeD or CyanogenMod 9
In XDA, no one asks those questions, we try out what fits us best and what doesn't
IMO I try out all the ROMs .. Because each developer has his own set of tweaks included. We have some great developers who have amazing ROMs. To be honest it's more personal decision. I suggest you try out reach ROM and stick with the one you like the most. Personally i'm waiting for AOSP or CM ROM I hate Sense.
I've just bought my new HTC one x, and after unlocking bootloader and flashing a CWM, I've looked for a custom Rom but we have too many cRoms in our development section!!! First I flashed mike's android revolution, because I used it on my transformer and I wanted to check it on my phone, but I didn't enjoy it at all. So I flashed leeDroid cRom, and I love it!! I'm going to flash a senseless Rom now, wich one do you prefere?
i haven't flashed custom room yet. only update 1.28 stock. i might wait for cm9. or deciding to go for Romaur which had high benchmark result even the above post said its easy to fake at least some thing to look at rather than the feeling. or go for insert coin coz seen someone posted this rom is the best .. like going oversea wanna have good lunch and chose by looking to where people goes

Recently i got the AT&T SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 I747 STOCK JELLY BEAN ON 4.1.1 from GALASXY S2 SKYROCKET (at&t) also but i need the best combo (kernel+ROM) but its hard to find one
here is what am looking for:-
- good, stable DATA/MOBILE NETWORK CONNECTION (MUST HAVE) IMPORTANT
- bloatware free
- fast/overclocking
- easy/not too complex that will fup my phone
- anything that i have not mentioned is relevant too
- other great features like Bravia engine, goo manager, extra features that make it more awsome
- cyanogenmod stable qualities (bug free) sleek, smooth, fast UI and transitions
any kind of idea is valid, open to every suggestion
If you are looking for a touchwiz ROM, go try S3Rx. If you are looking for a pure android based ROM, go for Task's AOKP. I think those are some of if not the best Roms of their kind.

That's for you to experiment and decide not everyone has the same experience on a rom.
Just make a backup of your current setup and start flashing away.
Trial and error.
I may be new here but I know enough, To tell you no one is going to answer your question. A Rom that works for one person is not necessarily the same Rom that will work for another. Flashing Rom's is about hopefully stability, if your lucky speed and battery life, but most importantly about customization. I just started flashing Roms and am still looking for the one I want. I'm sure as soon as I find it a new release will come out and I will get to start over again. As for Kernels I am not comfortable enough to delve into that yet...Good luck...

Best S3, non touchwiz ROM I have found is SlimBean. Not as flashy as some but rock solid/stable with the best battery life I have found so far. Like CM, it is backed by team of devs versus some roms that just have chefs that mix/match/blend features together.
i have been on that PATH as in trying different ROMS but once i tried several i completely fup my DATA/mobile network, i would text and call but my internet (not to be confused with WIFI) stopped working and yu know as a tech savvy guy yu gotta try everything little trick yu know to fix it but there was nothing
forced to use wifi until the day i bought the AT&T S3 and i have my data internet connection working again
i need a ROM that doesnt leave me with no DATA CONNECTION
restoring from nandroid backups helps and sometimes it might not work , other than CM which other ROMS THAT CAN KEEP UP WITH MY DATA CONNECTION

Glad to here it. I have not been brave enough to get into kernel flashing yet. Can you tell me was it a simple flash? How do you revert back to a stock kernel? I here there is a lot of tweaking to do with some kernels? Was Ziggy's pre-set?

You just flash it the same way you do with a ROM. Remember you wipe cache and dalvik cache before flashing the kernel and if you dirty flash roms, you have to reflash the kernel each time because the stock kernel overwrites it. You revert back to stock kernel by flashing the ROM again or finding the kernel zip and flashing it separately. You can undervolt and overclock with a different kernel that allows it.

Hi all,
I just bought a galaxy note 8 and rooted it. I installed the Cyanogenmod rom but dont really like it.
I do like that it is a lot faster than the stock software.
Can anyone recommend a ROM on here to try. I see there are lots available but dont know which one to go for. If anyone has one of the roms from here and loves it, please let me know so i can try it.
Also, now the device is rooted, i can just wipe and install ROMs using the clockwork recovery program right?
I've installed the CivZ-FLEX-BEAM-REV3.1 ROM now. Much smoother and looks more like the stock rom

Cosign. It's in my opinion the best performing ROM for my needs.
the number of ROMs is not that big, go and check for yourself - generally the "best ROM" threads are usually closed by the mods, rather sooner than later

Although the options are not in abundance I also would recommend CivZ-FLEX-BEAM-REV3.1 ROM I think it's the best for the note 8 & IMO one of my fav jellybean ROMs overall.
Hi.I have successfully converted my phone to e975 from f180l and I want your opinion on flashing a kitkat rom(doesn't matter which one,I mean in general) People who are using a kitkat rom,is it better than the stock one?
or shall I wait until the official kitkat update from lg(official kdz I mean if that's gonna happen)?
its your choice if to upgrade or not.... stock rom or stock modded are best for battery life......if you bother about about battery life..you can flash any 4.4 roms.. ..
I vote yes. simply because i love trying something new. and having many choices are good.
then test all roms u can find
u can tly miui, my fav. but its 4.1 try!!
by kk u have many roms here! its ur play and our playground, so test what u can dont forget nandroid backup!

I had another phone where I flashed a new rom every week and I don't want to keep doing so on this device I want to install a rom and keep it for a log period of time) forn now I like the stock one,but I know too that kk is lighter in terms of ram(if I'm not wrong) and it has more options and bigger customisation possibilities, but I don't want to meet new problems, like worse battery life, problems with the kernel, random fcs and so on)

Well atm I'm switching between cm11 and miui, it's nice to have two backups I can just switch between and I have my most needed stuff. For me this works just as Good as only having 1. But yeah, I don't like stock tom, and you can get good battery life with other 4.4 Roms, so dont worry about that. Go ahead and try it out, there's nothing to lose .

Stock is still the best IMHO whenever I use CM something is always missing or broken.
But what do we actually get from 4.1 to 4.4(if stock)?? Whats the big difference for ordinary user?
Like Win XP vs Win 7 vs Win 8. Of course we have to update to Win 7 to take advantage of DX11 but I don't think we have to update to Win 8 for a reason that its NEW, Just like what happen to Kitkat its new but for what? Maybe thats the reason why LG doesnt bother much to update because most of the apps/games only require you to install 2.3 and up
I have recently installed kitkat 4.4 cm11 and and I am having force close problems (not many) but still it restarts the device and lockscreen becomes unresponsive
So yes it is problematic but it is way way better than stock in terms of RAM usage and response
I am searching for a stabler ROM if you have know such stable kk ROM do tell

Thread closed,
ROM comparison threads are against forum rules. Best thing to do is to try different Roms for yourself.
