After lots of searching for a tripod mount I found this cool little mini tripod on Amazon that works great. It's like fifteen bucks and change. Getting my Seidio Surface case in a few days and going to see if it fits. Might be a tight fit though.

I'm curious, what's the point of a tripod for a phone? If I am going to pack a tripod, I am going to pack my real camera.

I sometimes carry this though
Is much smaller than tripod and can "almost" always fulfill the need. If the above head could be fit on this it would be awsome

My "real" camera is a 5mp Casio point and shooter from the year 2000 so when the family came over and I needed to film the firework show from the college the S3 did fine. Even if I had a real camera from today's age I wouldn't carry everywhere I go (well maybe for the first week to play with it) so the camera built in my S3 will do. Hell if I had a real camera I'd actually use a real tripod, not this 15 dollar tripod I bought off Amazon that I can just dump in my trunk and take it everywhere and not care of it gets scratched up.
So this will do for now.

The best camera is always the one you have with you, so no shame in a tripod for your phone! I actually quite like the idea. I have a canon t3i that takes breathtaking photos, but it never seems to be with me when I see the perfect shot.
I actually might pick one of these up to toss in my car, how stable is it? Will it fit the phone with a case on it?
+1 for you being the one amazon review lol

Just got my Surface Case from Seidio today and was pretty nervous that it wasn't going to fit but it fitted perfectly no problem. It's actually really stable I was surprised.
Edit: I attached an image with proof that I have the Surface Case due to companies who send trolls to forums trying to sell people stuff that don't fit our work. Especially since the products website said its for phones up to 4.6".

OP, was curious if the tripod you linked come with the mount or if it was purchased separately? Amazon product description doesn't say if it comes with or is an optional accessory. Thanks in advaance

SGN does some great photos with natural sunlight.
I'd like to usit even more often, s i'd like to buy a tripod, a Spider Tripod i guess it's called, with those three flexible "legs" that can be attached/mounted almost anywhere.

If this is what you mean, you can get them at: http://www.breffo.com
They have a store built into the site.
Pretty sure you want something like this Arkon smartphone tripod:
edit: I've used that mobile grip holder with the Galaxy Nexus on a car mount, and it fits fine. It should fit most cases, might be a tight fit with those super rugged / thick cases.
http://www.arkon.com/accessories/smart-phone-tripod-camera-stand.html
$18 on arkon's site.
Should come in handy for the time-lapse feature.

Bumping because I too need a tripod. The generic cameraphone one I bought barely fits and nearly snaps every time I use it. Its only a matter of time until I need a real tripod.

I plan on getting one of those little universal mounts like this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005LY5CWG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A110MBRL8XO94E
then get a gorilla pod. Should be a little bit more versatile and I can use a regular tripod at any time if I needed to thanks the the mounting hole.

The Arkon tripod works with phones up to 4.6", like the Galaxy Nexus. Like I said in my post, I've used that mobile grip holder on one of their car mounts with various phones, including the GNex.

Wow, I am genuinely impressed! These are arguably the best looking cases I've ever seen. However, I am not a big fan of dual layer cases. I bought an Otterbox Commuter for my Galaxy Nexus, used it for a week, and ended up going back to the generic TPU case I was using previously. Yes, the dual layer case offers a superior level of protection. Unfortunately, it makes the phone a bit too bulky for my tastes. In terms of bulkiness, will the Musubo cases be similar to Otterbox?
I'm buying all 3 when they release. The volume buttons are sick on the rubber band one. But all 3 cases are def something different and worth supporting.
I'm definitely feeling the Retro case, despite the it being dual layer. The old-school microphone look is just too cool to pass up. The Mummy case is nice as well, but it seems to be a regular TPU case with a cool design, and $35 for a TPU case is a bit steep.
It now has a ETA of August 6

Protection is likely going to be good.
The question will be how quality the product is and if it will be scratch resistant plastic or if it'll end up looking like trash after just a few weeks.
Yeah, i'd love to see a review because just on face value from those pics, it looks great!!
nice , i like this mummy design

$35? Meh.
The more I think about it, the more $35 for the Mummy case seem like a ripoff. I haven't seen the case in person, but it seems to be just a regular TPU case. I ended up buying the PureGear Slim Shell that I like quite a bit.
Has anyone been able to find a nice stand that they use while charging the phone in portrait mode? I currently am using the UAG case, so the normal docks won't work. Thx in advance.

these work
I have this one and it works well http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_nkw=dock&_sacat=0&_odkw=&_ipg=25&_osacat=0&_armrs=1&_ssn=supermom28
Also my wife has this one and my s3 also fits in it with a slim case that snaps on, but it has some room and would fit a tpu case as well http://www.ebay.com/itm/SAMSUNG-GAL...734459?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item19cbf0bdbb
yeah i use a dock as well
I wonder if it will fit my Incipio Faxion.
I found a nice little stand with a sticky front at the container store that works perfectly. And ya, cases force you to rethink stand choices.

I've been using this Thought Out ped3 universal steel stand ($22) for a couple months and I still love it. I had to return the first one I bought, though, because it was warped and wouldn't sit level.

I bought this too. For 4 bucks I think it solves my lack of desk stand quite well.
The original Samsung dock takes a phone in a case. The bottom part around the microUSB plug is spring loaded, pretty clever.
I bent a gift card to use as a stand when I go to sleep since the phone is in landscape (it won't support portrait) and I have a mesh business card holder at Office Depot on my main desk at home for portrait/landscape.

That one's just like mine.
I'm rather satisfied with it.
For sure no fancy and high quality materials... but... it has all the features that a good cover for the SGN10.1 must have:
no magnets
one opening specifically designed for the S-Pen extraction
the other three corners protected in case of dropping
opening to charge the GNote10.1 even with the case closed
other ports accessible (but for the IR port and the MicroSD slot when the case is closed)
no front stripes near the front camera and luminosity sensor that can cast shadows on them
the front cover is hinged on the lower side so that you can use the back camera without having to fumble to manually keep the cover raised
loudspeakers free
I use it at school (where I often have chalk on my hands) and it's good enough for that.
In case I wanted to get a better and classy and elegant one, with HQ materials, I'd take this one: apart from the materials used the design is (more or less) the same

I got the Mako one and I'm not happy with it, but don't hate it. I think this one looks a lot nicer. How is it working out for you?
The mako one for instance has a grip that covers the slot for the s-pen. It's very annoying.
So I saw this on Amazon and am very tempted to check it out. Some reviews for an older version say its not very well made but this looks like a revised version. Anyone got one? Love the official wood backs on the moto x but they aren't available in the UK.

So my case finally arrived from boxwave. Its very well made, it has a silky texture on the plastic edges and the back has a rubbery feel texture over the bamboo. All the cut outs are precise and neat, boxwave logo even looks pretty good. It snaps firmly onto the phone and I think it looks really premium.
The plastic is slightly raised above the screen at the front, leaves the top and bottom open like a lot of hard cases.

Wow, didn't know that. Learn something new every day.
I'd go for Cocobolo Burl. Coolest looking wood I've ever seen. Of course it's super rare and probably costs more than gold haha.
Yeah that stuff looks amazing! Very regal, type of thing you'd find on a baroque period dresser or something. I think really I want a moto X but moto maker (which you use to order custom colours and wood backs) is USA only right now.

Yeah, if they made a case out of that, I would jump on it so quickly.
I want to like Motorola, but after the hellish experience/treatment/neglect/no updates/etc I had with the Atrix 4G, where they just abandoned it after less than a year and pretended it didn't exist.... I don't think I'll ever buy another Motorola phone ever again. That cost so much (bought outright) and was so disappointing, it just turned me off to them (they do have the best USB cables out there though!).
