So I have a nexus running AOKP 40, I have google wallet set up and a card added. Beam is on and NFC is set to activate when screen is unlocked. I tried to make some purchases at two different walgreens today but there was no response from google wallet when I put it up to the reader.
Anyone else having this issue? I've restored to stock and will try that later when I go out, hoping its just the rom and not something deeper.
Thanks for any help.
What kind of reader? Was it that clear blue plastic looking reader?
Sent from my sprint galaxy nexus
Yeah it was at a Walgreens. The clear blue reader with the symbol at the top for NFC.
You may know this but I had the happen a couple times but the reason was the phone wasn't on the pad correctly. I found that the Center of the phone is a good spot for the transaction. I tried the top half and it wouldn't work half the time

I had no luck at Walgreens either, CVS worked no problem though

Yeah those aren't the right ones you need the solid readers those are strictly for the cards I guess. Its not the ROM or the phone those just plain don't work.

Hmm...Can you post a picture of what the ones that are supposed to work look like?
Thanks for the help, really appreciated.

Yeah mine looked slightly similar .. but didnt see google wallet or anything similar. It could be that they just havent set it up yet...
they look something similar to This although this one looks newer the ones i've had succes with are the ones at like CVS or 7/11 .
Alright thanks. Is there any way to find stores that have these readers other than just hunting them down?
I found the tool on the official google wallet site. Thanks for all the help.
Interestingly enough, none of the walgreens in my area show up as vendors that support it.

Hi
I just felt that with all the negative posts, i would add a positive one
I got mine today from Clove, all i can say is this phone is awesome.
Well done Google. ICS is a wonderful rebuild, not an update, a rebuild. I think people are forgetting this.
So everybody. What do you like about ICS?
I got a unknown phone call today and what made me smile was that ICS told me what location the area code was from automatically
What has put a smile on your face with ICS?

Woah!!! It did that in the UK?
Sweet, Friday is gonna be great!!! Can't wait.
Yeah in the UK, I just tested it by deleting my home number form the phone, and then calling. It got it bang on. Very cool!
That's pretty cool, I hope the Verizon version does that (show the location of call). That's a welcome addition if it does.
This is new to me.
Are you sure you are not installing special app?
no additional app
it must look up the area code from google so i guess u will need a data connection

It does the same on an AOSP build on the Nexus S - I received several calls for work today from unknown numbers and the Caller ID now shows the state the call is originating from (US).
That's a really good find! For those who haven't tried it I've knocked up a short video showing the feature. Me like.

Nope, happened to me
Said the number which wasn't in my contacts and it said Tyneside under it.
Turns out it was Samsung calling me back
Wondering if this is UK specific only.
Anyone from outside UK can test?

Hey,
I bought a Galaxy Nexus here in Vietnam and just realized that it is running a custom rom and has been rooted. The phone was new (no scratches and had the original plastic covering the screen)... My friends here tell me that iPhones are often sold jailbroken so I was wondering if this is normal here??? English is a major challenge so I'm not sure if I will be able to get more information from them...
Everything seems to be working totally fine... just curious.
Post a screen shot of settings/about phone. Do you have superuser apk installed?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Here you go...
Superuser is installed.
Not sure why the picture didn't work... here is a link.
In Vietnam beware of the originality of the phone. It's easy to reseal the phone/box/accessoires,etc.
Definitely they sold you an used item. Go back to the store to get a refund or exchange for real new one.
Hope it helps.

I agree, the OP got sold a used phone.
yeah, i was probably used, or possibly a refurbished phone.
i head of people getting a Certified like new replacement (refurbished) HTC thunderbolt that was rooted with a sense 3.5 ROM on it.
but the phone is def. not a NEW phone from samsung. also, being rooted, who knows what kind of tracking stuff could be on that phone. i would take it back and do the rooting process yourself just to make sure.

Eh, you could always just reflash the factory image instead. That'll pretty well get rid of anything that could be installed on the phone.
Or use fastboot -w to wipe it all and then reflash whatever you want to be on it.
Assuming all the hardware works, of course.

I suppose the OP is in Hanoi Vietnam.
Do you like the food ?
either you paid a very good price and the phone works perfectly, in this case just flash a full official image. You can find them on code.Google.com
Either you paid the full price for a new one or it doesn't work or look fine, in that case I would go back to the shop and ask for a real new one or a refund

What is the store's name ? street ?
or, better yet. leave it rooted and install Adfree, Titanium Backup, RM, CWM, WiFi tether etc.... Unlock the bootloader right away while you're at it (since it'll do a wipe/reset) and then go flash some roms!
Hi to all,
I am looking for a dual sim adapter for my galaxy note. I tried searching over the net and found something called magic sim which is claimed to work in galaxy s2 but there are mixed reviews about it. Some say that it works fine but some say that it has problems. I need your opinions and especially those who have come across dual sim adapters for galaxynote. Cheers to all.....

Very neat and complete review....
I'm using a Magicsim (cut), too.
It's the second one, cos the first one died after four month.
The embossed contacts became flat -> "No SIM-Warning in Android".
So it's a really good idea to get it from a good seller.
Another thing is, that the SIM-holder in the Note is not ideal placed.
Had problems getting the whole Magicsim (with cutted cards and coverplate) in the holder.
I've also put the coverplate shifted 180° on top of the Magicsim,
because it seems risky to me otherwise (like shown inside the manual).
The coverplate could be stuck in the SIM-holder while retrieving the Magicsim out of the Note.
For proper switching between two cards, you've to enter the flight mode,
otherwise you wouldn't be able to send any sms.
Disabling the "Google-Services-Framework" when "Accounts changed" in Autostarts is a good idea, too.
Worked fine under GB2.3.6 but under ICS4.0.3 I always gets an "SIM-Dienste" dialog...
Regards

I have been using magicsim from past couple of days and this thing really works the way as described on their Web site. I ordered mine directly from their site and it was delivered to me in around a week's time. I am using the cut version for my note. Sim cards were easy to cut and fix inside the plate but inserting and taking out the magicsim repeatedly might cause damage to either the phone or the magicsim itself. I Have installed an application named dualdial from play store which is one touch operation for switching between the Sims.

I know. That's why I posted this thread - to see if someone else would have a answer.
There's very little you can do to check if it's new or not other than call Samsung and see if someone has registered the unit with them for some reason or another. Although the seals on the box being broken would be a massive give away

I find it hard to believe you can undo the seal without damaging it, I had to proper rip mine to get into the box. Perhaps the EU ones are more secure!!
Either way, unless you're getting it from an official dealer it's hard to say whether it's 100% new or not
I just recently got the Nexus 5, which will now be my daily driver, but I still want to use my S III to track my runs (w/ runkeeper). I was wondering if I'd still be able to use the S III's gps to track my runs without data, mostly since the Nexus 5 can't fit my armband and I don't want to buy another....
Thanks
Edit: I forgot to mention, I've tried but it doesn't work despite reading online people have done this, wondering if there is a way.
