Thanks man! You guys have been really helpful, the CM7 flash failed so i went back to CM9 and just did all of the above and also entered in CWM and in advanced i did the fix permissions and my fone works like a gem, absolutely no problems, even my battery lasts longer than it did earlier, THe fone is just amazing now, a special thanks to the dev team... you guys are the best
i fixed my problem with the different keylayout qwerty to qwertz
Steps in Root Explorer:
go to /system/usr/keylayout
open cdma_venus2-keypad.kl with "Text Editor" and change line "key 21 Y" to "key 21 Z" the same with line "key 44 Z" to "key 44 Y" go back and save it...Root Explorer automatically does a backup of the original file!
now you have to do the same in qwery.kl in this folder and save it!
at the end you need only to reboot.
does anybody know how to change the dollar symbol $ to the euro € sign...i guess i have to change something in the /keychars - folder?!
Update 30th July 2012
The steps described above aren´t a final solution because the number "6" and the symbol "_" were changed also...
in my holidays i fixed that and i solved the problem with the €-Sign as well! so now i have a final keylayout for everybody who whants to have qwertz layout!
copy the files in the attached archive in the specific folder using root explorer ore something similar and set the permissions to rw-r--r--.
how to get cyanogen mod recovery by this?
i see no step featuring the installation of that!
do i need this for cm9 from this source?
what does with -mac- mean?
so,i flashed my german phone today.
+german language

-no QWERTZ layout yet
-no business encryption like in orginal rom,so only works for no corporate use.
upgrading from 2.2.2 makes really sense with this rom,but please fix the keypad layout for us germans
how can i stop apps from rotating? thx in advanced.

MAC address fix inside it so your MAC address will not change on every reboot. If you have not done this yet, it may help with connecting to your internet as your router doesn't get clogged up giving out a new IP address every time your disconnect from wifi. In order to "activate" the MAC address fix, simply go into the terminal emulator app, typing "su" (without the quotes) then typing "mac-address-fix.sh" (without the quotes). A bunch of weird symbols should come up, but that's normal.
What this does is it auto-generates and writes your permanent MAC address to a file called called nvs_map.bin under /data/misc/wifi/nvs_map.bin. It will remain there and your MAC address will remain the same unless you wipe your /data whereas you will simply have to redo it
Watch this: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-pro-roms/198354-6-18-12-cm9-ics-droid-pro.html
when the phone is at the red M logo when it's booting up, the LED will flash blue for a second. If you happen to press the volume rocker down when it's blue, it will take you to a boot menu which from there you can select Recovery -> Clockwork recovery
is there a way to use the orginal keylayout and keychar files from 2.2.2?would be the easiest way to fix the keyboard problem !
keylayout/keychars from 2.2.2 didnt work. can somebody offer the keylayout/keychar from a german pro+? maybe this is fitting....
is the batterycover needed for wifi reception?
Network Bar
I have a question...
I have flashed CM9 on my droid, and everything works fine except for the signal shows only 2 bars at all time, is there a fix for this?
i experienced this too, try setting signal in statusbar to "show in dbm" , settings, cyanogenmod, statusbar.
does the value change or is it reported wrong? - if so, its working but the signalstrange report is defective.
can't test this now, as i'm back on cm7, as phone and flash work properly there!
one question:
why can't google maps locate me using my gps, whilst "gps status" shows proper coordinates?
Would anyone know if this would work on the XPRT? Let alone any rom created for the droid pro?
i did a solution for qwertz keylayout! see on the bottom of page 1!!!

[GUIDE] Step by Step ROM Firmware Upgrade & Migration to Froyo 2.2 [JL2] Bell I9000M
[WARNING!] Do Not flash Any ROM until you can get the 3 buttons DOWNLOAD MODE working
[CAUTION!] Make sure you know what your doing before you flash any ROM. It is your own fault if you kill your phone.
By following this Guide you Agree with all of the above and consequences that follow
Before you begin...
Make a full backup of everything with Titanium Backup
Make a full backup with CW ROM Manager
Mount your SD card
Manually drag/drop the CW ROM backup and Titanium Backup from the phone to your PC
If you have CoPilot, make sure to snatch the whole copilot directory from the internal SD to your PC... it'll save you the trouble to have to re-configure & re-download the maps later
Now you can Have Fun & Happy Flashing!
Part 1
Choose your update method, you can Flash via the scary ODIN, or via the "safe" KIES.
Each will have its own set of conundrums & gotchas.
If ODIN, follow these steps:
Download I9000M Froyo 2.2 JL2 Tar ball http://www.multiupload.com/UTFJCCIP5H (thanks to Chainfire)
Download Odin http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=832827
Open Odin
Uncheck everything
Click browse for PDA file
Select the JL2 tar ball that you downloaded

}
Boot SGS into the Download Mode
plug in the USB cable (pc to phone)
Check to make sure it says COM#
hit Start
Should complete successfully
If successful:
boot into Recovery Mode
wipe data
wipe cache
reboot back to normal
If WiFi:
Scan for WiFi connections
Select your preferred WiFi connection
Enter password
Else If APN:
Create new APN
Save and Exit APN
Enable APN
Download SuperOneClick from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
run SuperOneClick
Select Root
Let it reboot
Sign in to you google account
Download Titanium Backup via Android Market
Run Titanium Backup
Restore ONLY!! USER APPS/DATA of your Backup from SD or DropBox, DO NOT RESTORE SYSTEM APPS/DATA
If KIES, follow these steps:
Install latest version of Kies (If not already installed)
Download Kies registry patch http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835628
Select your model "BMC"
Start KIES
plug in the USB cable (pc to phone)
It should tell you there is a new firmware available
click on firmware update
follow KIES on screen instructions
Allow it to update
Note #1: If you get and error about KIES Server not available, just retry a few times until you get it, you might even need to wait a couple of hours for it to come back
Note #2: If KIES says something like JK4: "This device's version cannot be upgraded." use the registry patch to make KIES believe you have JG9 or JH2, and it will let you upgrade to JL2
If successful:
boot into Recovery Mode
wipe data
wipe cache
reboot back to normal
If WiFi:
Scan for WiFi connections
Select your preferred WiFi connection
Enter password
Else If APN:
Create new APN

Sign in to you google account
Download Titanium Backup via Android Market
Run Titanium Backup
Restore ONLY!! USER APPS/DATA of your Backup from SD or DropBox, DO NOT RESTORE SYSTEM APPS/DATA
Part 2
Take advantage of the new features in Froyo 2.2
Install Move Apps to SD (many to choose from), as the name implies it lets you swap the installed apps from internal memory to SD card. Titanium Backup also has a buildin feature to mass move Apps 2 SD
Install TrafficStats, lets you monitor which App is using the internet
Troubleshooting & Known Bugs
Note 1: Titanium Backup
in newer versions of TB the batch option has been renamed to "Restore missing apps with data"
Then on the next screen you get to choose if you want to restore
user apps + data, or user apps only, or user data only
BUG: Titanium Backup might get stuck when doing loooooooong batch operations in Froyo, if you jump to another App or do something else and then come back, the status on the system tray will remain forever there, and will not end, you'll have to manually Kill it using any task manager app.
Note 2: External SD
in Eclair 2.1 the External SD was on /sdcard/sd/
in Froyo 2.2 the External SD has been moved to /sdcard/external_sd/
you'll have to manually update Apps that uses hard coded paths
Note 3: Restoring CoPilot
Let Titanium Backup finish the 400+ apps restore
Copy the Copilot folder you backed up earlier back to Internal SD from PC or External SD
Run Copilot,
The registration key should already be listed in the box
Hit Ok
It should say Activation Completed Successfully, with the thumbs up
picture
Note 4: Re-install No LED
After restoring No Led from backup it kept complaining about it needing to be re-installed
Once you re-install it, everything works great as usual.
Note 5: News and Weather Genie Widget does not work on 2.2
It's NOT compatible with Froyo, it keeps force closing everytime you try to run it.
Good thing is, this App was totally optional, it was just a plug in for DeskClock which itself was a plug in for Alarm Clock PlusV2? (the best alarm app for android)
Note 6: Z4Root not showing on market for some people
if you are having trouble with market, the alternative is to download it from the topic
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
Thanks to: TriC_101, ragin, Chainfire for JL2 tar ball, RyanZA, TitaniuBackup developer(s), and all the great people in XDA-Developers.com
Surely this should be in the development section?
Thanks Allgamer... I asked this question yesterday in the Q and A section and now you have made a fantastic list of steps.
Not sure if my question inspired you to do this but THANKS FOR IT!!!

Froyo Quick Review
Froyo is Awesome!
After upgrading to 2.2, i found a whole bunch of apps which was no longer necessary, as many of the status/features i wanted already came build in, or allowed other apps which i already had installed before to work even better
by unlocking some of its feature that was only accessible on 2.2, but disabled on 2.1
the JK3 came with all the Broadware from Bell, had to uninstall a bunch of them
Overall the phone now runs really really smooth, specially when Installing Apps on Android Market and doing other stuff, it no longer hangs for a few sec until it finishes the install
back in 2.1 the phone was working great, but everytime an App is installed via Market, it will hang abit until it's done installing, and sometimes it gets very annoying when you have like 20 apps updates to install
still need to test the GPS using Google Maps / Track to see if it made any improvement on the accuracy.
no changes to CoPilot, it still work just perfect as usual
@Allgamer,
What doy ou mean exactly by the following?...
If WiFi:
•Scan for WiFi connections
•Select your preferred WiFi connection
•Enter password
Else If APN:
•Create new APN
•Save and Exit APN
•Enable APN
Are these things that get messed up when you flash to JK3 that need to be fixed?
no no, those are just steps to go Online to the Internet and access Android Market for the rest of the steps

Ahhhhh... Ok... I get it... I think... LOL!!! Can you answer these for me as well?...
I am currently rooted. Do I have to "unroot" before I flash?
Also... I am having trouble with the patcher so... Is all you have to enter under "product code" is BMC? Also... Do you have to switch the spoof from False to True and then before running Kies do you have rto click on "read Registry"?
I installed the patcher and everytime I run it I get two error boxes stating that the file path is not specified and that it has not been set as an object, etc...
Can you help me on these steps and can you tell me... How did YOU flash? ODIN or Kies (Registry Patch)?
Is there anyway of just extracting the CSC and MODEM from the Tar file ?

No need to unroot
You have to set Spoofer to true, Select BMC and click WRITE registry.
Do you have .net framework installed?
Less than 10 min, now on Froyo. Thanks!

Thanks... Yes... I have .net framework installed. I had 3.5 (SP1) already and I got the errors and then Nodial asked the same question and advised me to install v4. I installed it and I still get the same errors.
I have never used this patcher before so I dont know what the problem is. I DID use the registry hack (manual way) once before to fix my non working 3 button issue but I dont think that is the problem.
After I get the error messages and close their respective boxes, the patcher program opens and allows me to enter stuff, etc but I am scared that if its not done right that I will brick my phone. You say to 'select" BMC but when I get the program to open and click the dropdown box to select my product code it is blank. Should I just enter BMC there myself and try?

ya that is easy just download WINRAR and open the .Tar file and you will see the modem.bin file. that is what your looking for.
I want to try this method, but my phone is not "Rooted". So I can't get titanium backup to work. I still have Eclair 2.1. I haven't touched anything yet. Only thing I tried is to see if both the recovery and download 3 buttons methods worked, and they both did. I wish I could get Froyo on my phone, I would try kies method first but if no success i would try odin. I don't know anything about any of this I'm just trying to understand what I need to do. I've been looking through tutorials and many posts and I'm still confuse, I would like to keep all my apps. Help would be much appreciated thanks.

I didnt use any backup, also mine was not rooted. Just stock JH2. I did the update with ODIN, I did not lose any data on my phone. However I did do a factory reset after just in case. It was working fine either way. I don't think its completely necessary to factory reset. I don't have a ton of apps so its not big deal, took me 15 min to get everything back the way I wanted it. Also all my stuff on the internal SD (pictures, music etc) was not erased.
for the kies method, is the server permanently toast? no response
Question as I've never flashed my phone before (and its not rooted).
If you flash your phone with this method and then have jk3 on it, what happens when Bell/Samsung officially release it? Will you be able to update to that released version? Or would you have to downgrade to upgrade again?
OK thanks, do you think that after doing the update I would be able to backup with titanium? in other words will the device be rooted with that update? It's just that I have a couple of apps i bought that i would rater not loose since I would like to do a factory reset.

while this is true, for some people it might become a problem over time
it's best to do a wipe now than later
as you might have seen on the other Froyo upgrades many users have had problems leaving the old data in
personally i rather start fresh i prevent any problem from creeping up on me later on.
Android OS + apps + google makes it so extremely easy to restore from scratch, everything is sync-ed online, 1 click restore of user apps+user data
it can't be any easier than that

I have been working on this ROM since October. Took a while because of the image converting (xhdpi to hdpi). It's about 80% finished. Works as a phone finally so I figured now I can post on XDA. If anyone wishes to help me make this a fully functional port, please do; i'd appreciate it ^>^

______________________
Have an ext2/3/4 (1Gb) partition on your SDCard if you're flashing the EU version that is about 1024MB (1GB) in size. If not, now is the best time to do it. Here is how:
-Backup your SD Card,

-Go into the Advanced Menu,
-Go into the Partition SD Card Menu,
-Choose 1024MB then whatever you want for the Swap Size.
Install from beginning

Step One: Flashing MagLdr
Use MagLdr 1.13 (This is what I use) in the Recovery file.
Enter SPL via holding down the Volume Down while booting the phone.
Plug usb to your phone.
Run the RomUpdateUtility.exe and the setup will guide you.
Step Two: Flashing Recovery
Your phone will reboot (If not, pull battery and)- Hold in the Red Power key while it boots.
Once you see the MagLdr screen, let go of the Red Power key and use the Volume down or Volume up key a few times until you're on USB Flasher.
Press the Green Phone key.
Run the Daf.exe
This will take you through a few steps on the computer.
Your phone should boot again.
Step Three: Flashing my ROM
Hold down the Red Power key until you see the MagLdr screen.
Let go of the Red Power key and use the Volume up or Volume down key to scroll to 8. AD Recovery. Press the Green Phone key to select.
Scroll down to and choose wipe data/factory reset. When finished,
Scroll down to and choose install zip from sdcard. On the next screen,
Scroll down to and choose zip from sdcard. The next screen will bring you to your Sdcard. Navigate to where you put my ROM and choose it with the Green Phone key.
Scroll down to - Yes - Install Pure.Trib.Rezound.EU.Mag.1.00.605.3.v2.6 and choose it with the Green Phone key.

Free memory - 76 MB
Now:
Flash Player - works
WiFi - works
Beats - works
----------------------------
Hot Spot - make hot restart
After reboot gives me to unlock the sim more then 1 time, and after that pop up message - "com.android.process" has stopped.
I can't change the wallpaper, a can't even see them.
Camcorder - very laggy.
----------------------------
That is all for now!!!
Great work.
Thanks
It seems that there is a yet another fabulous rom!
I have a favor for you - Do you mind if you make rom with other kernels such as RCMix?
Due to Raf kernel's property, MAC address is fixed to 00:90:4C:5C:xx:xx, however, my access point doesn't accept the MAC address starts with 00.
I made a Calibration file patch, and applied with recovery, it was useless.
Cant install ..
error in /sdcardpure.Trib.Rezound.EU.MAG.1.00.605.3.v2.6.zip
(Status 0)
tried downlaoding again but same error ...

Make sure that you have an ext3/4 partition at least 1024MB in size on your SD card. I have a guide on the first post.
Now if you already have the ext partition, then please try my 'Install from beginning' guide on the first post.

Yes. The com.android.process error I get I have yet to solve.
But I've never noticed that you couldn't change the Wallpaper. When you're in the Wallpaper Selection, click the middle harware Menu key on the phone itself and select 'Grid View.'
I'm going to try this later on when I get home.
As for root access, Trib have you tried applying the Gingerbreak apk from here???

Just a suggestion, I have used it on a test rom before

I don't have this ROM on my phone anymore. Doing some testing on other ports.
Would you be willing to test it out for me if you use my ROM?

I have seen a lot of posts here asking about how to disable system updates and make that annoying notification go away... So I figured I would post a complete how-to here...
Please forgive my poor syntax for now...I'm typing this on an iPad, I will update this, make it look nice and pretty, and add photos and links when I get home.
REQUIREMENTS
-ROOTED PHONE
-A KERNEL WITH A NON-STOCK RECOVERY (CWM/ROGUE/ETC..)
Disclaimer!!!!
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY BROKEN PHONES, I HAVE TESTED THIS ON MY PHONE, IT WORKED FINE, THIS HAS ALSO BEEN MY PROCEDURE FOR DISABLING UPDATES SINCE MY G1 AND ALL MY PHONES IN BETWEEN (freeze update package, clear cache)
Also, please read the post in full before doing anything!!!
---
First of all, how do we disable those pesky system updates?
I'll show you a way to do it without any paid apps, you can even do it from adb or quicksshd! (REQUIRES ROOT)
First of all, go and download "terminal emulator" from the market, or if you have adb it can be done via adb-shell or with quicksshd.
you have terminal emulator installed...now what do you do?
Fire it up and type the commands as follows (don't type in the "$" or "#", these simply mean next-command as user and root, also don't type anything in brackets as these are only explanations of what the command is doing)
$ su
[this grants terminal emulator root, accept the permissions]
# pm disable com.samsung
[this disables or "freezes" the package required for system updates]
So what does this mean?....ALL SYSTEM UPDATES WILL BE DISABLED, THIS INCLUDES PRL AND PROFILE UPDATES!! to make sure it worked, go to settings>about phone>system updates, it should shoot you back to the main settings menu.
If you need to reverse this procedure to update your PRL or Profile, type the following:
$ su
[again...grants terminal root]
# pm enable com.samsung
[this enables or "unfreezes" the package required for system updates]
---
But what about that stupid notification? The commands above wont make it go away!!!!
To make the notification go away, simply choose click on it and choose "install" and let it reboot and do its thing....it's not going to work!!!
Why does it lock up on the update, giving you that android and triangle? The default system updater requires a STOCK recovery, as long as you have a kernel with a CWM based recovery installed, it will be impossible for the update to complete
as soon as it locks up hold your power button down and reboot, it will kick you back into CWM recovery, now while here, clear your cache (as that's where OTA updates are stored), i also clear my Dalvik Cache but it may not be necessary, and reboot....now your back in your rom!!!
Finally, before your phone checks for updates again...freeze com.samsung....no more notification, and until you unfreeze com.samsung, it won't bother you about it again.
This may be a dumb question but have to ask or won't know. If I stay with my current rom and have already updated prl and profile I won't need to do that anymore unless I flash another rom.
Normally you won't need to do it when you flash another ROM either, but there can be situations where you need to.
PRL update isn't that useful (at least the ones Sprint gives you) as these days they are just getting rid of more 3g roaming.
Profile update can solve data login issues which arise either from messed up NVRAM or from activating another device, then re-activating your phone.
I usually only update PRL/Profile if I have data connectivity issues, otherwise you shouldn't have to update even if you flash new roms over, usually I need a profile update about once every month and a half or so...give or take.
Just keep in mind that com.samsung is part of the rom, and flashing a new rom will render com.samsung active again
Another nifty tip....the above commands to freeze com.samsung will work for any app as long as you know the com.whatever name.
Titanium "freeze" does the same thing if you like GUI interface.

Do you need to freeze all four (at least on my phone there are four) com.samsung files?
This does seem like an easier way for those of us not familiar with emulator commands.
In titanium backup, the only thing you need to freeze is "System Updates"

I went ahead and pm disable com.samsung BEFORE the update push to my phone. Hopefully I will never get the notification since I am happy on Calk 2.0 and EG30 baseband/modem.
Edit:
Thanks starnostar, this works for me.
If you use Swype it may cause you a problem with adding uppercase I to "dIsable" causing command not recognized. Open any input such as google search (any input that open the keyboard will do). Touch and long hold on the input until the input method dialog pops up. Change to Samsung keyboard (ET4G). You can change back to Swype afterwards.
FYI Freeze is only available in the Pro version of Titanium (currently $6.58).
Use antek file manager its free and let u freeze.

Or.....you can just edit build.prop to say 2.3.6 & EL13.

Its in system. Just open root explorer then go to system and long press build.prop and select "open in text editor". Then change build version to 2.3.6 & EL13 wherever you see it (as applicable). Then click menu key/save. Then back out of root explorer and power down phone then power back on (hot reboot won't work). Then update profile and prl. You might get it one more time after that but that should be it.
Here's a couple images to show you what it will look like.

It is actually in /system
Just backup the original because if you ever want to get a patch-style OTA update, you are going to need to original.
Personally if all you want to do is disable the notifications for updates the pm disable in the first post is pretty simple and won't have any negative effects on updates as you can enable it when you want them.
Alternatively you could try forcing the update to fail by installing it while having some files changed. It may ask later, but so far hasn't asked me.

Yep! Sorry....damn word prediction. Post corrected
....and root explorer auto saves original as .bak file
Thanks guys,
My problem was Swype adding an uppercase I to "disable" causing the command "dIsable", which I didn't notice (doh!). I changed the input method to the basic keyboard temporarily, tried again and so far 12 hours later no message.
The original method was easy, quick and works.

Didn't work for me. I froze it a week ago and just started getting update notifications again today.
I think most of the ROMs in the dev section have been updated to EL13, so just update your ROM/modem and there's no need to fiddle with freezing system updates or modify build.prop.

File Extraction :
Download all files in a folder like this location “F:\sym_ics\SYMICS4\”
Select files like this photo and Use 7zip to Extract.
Make use you have folders Extracted like this
Updating Baseband :
This process is pretty nasty. I made a successful Update after trying a number of times and fails, after that I installed WINDOWS XP SP3 and successfully Updated Baseband. So I would recommend you guys to Start this Upgrading Process with a Freshly Installed Windows XP. I will try to give you as much as possible visual guide.
*It is not mandatory to install Android SDK and Java Runtime.
Install “jdk-7-windows-i586.exe”
Install “installer_r20.0.3-windows.exe” , make sure you have selected options red marked in this photo when Android SDK download files.
After download complete, Go to “F:\sym_ics\SYMICS4\(AP+BP)_ICS_S01\(AP+BP)_ICS_S01\ICS_S01” This folder.
Extract “NPRG7627A.zip” by right clicking it 7-zip > Extract Here
Copy “NPRG7627A.hex” to “591357_8376_WCDMA_V0005” folder.
Switch off your phone, remove battery, SIM cards, SD card.
Place battery on your phone, Hold POWER BUTTON+VOLUME DOWN BUTTON together, you will see “QPST Entry Download”.
Now, Connect your phone to your pc.
You will see a popup like this, cancel it.
Go to your device manager and follow the procedure below :
For you the driver location will be “F:\sym_ics\SYMICS4\S01_Drivers\drivers\Driver\HK11-VB717-27\HK11-VB717-27_1.0.56\Win32\x86\free”, Click Ok, and press Next. Driver will be installed. Close it. Go to device manager and you will see something like this :
In my case i got COM3, you may have diffrent port number. Now go to “F:\sym_ics\SYMICS4\S01_flash_tools\fast_boot” and Open “fastboot1.0.2.4.exe”. You will see something like this :
Click on “BP Browse” select folder “F:\sym_ics\SYMICS4\(AP+BP)_ICS_S01\(AP+BP)_ICS_S01\ICS_S01\591357_8376_WCDMA_V0005″, Put the port number on “BP Port”, take a deep breath and press Download, download should start if everthing is allright, after download compleate “fastboot1.0.2.4.exe” will close by itself. and you need to pull your phone bettery to shut it down and disconnect the phone form your pc.
AP Upload :
Place your phone battery on the phone, press POWER BUTTON + VOLUME UP and wait untill you see a GREEN display on your phone.
Connect you phone and you will see a new Device is found named Android, now install the drivers by following procedure like prevoiusly shown and use the folder “F:\sym_ics\SYMICS4\S01_Drivers\drivers\Driver\adb_driver” for drivers.
After driver instlation compleate, go to “F:\sym_ics\SYMICS4\S01_flash_tools\EMMC_AP” and open “QUALFAST2.0.4(Factory).exe”

Now press “OK” and wait for first “Waiting Decices…” to compleate and then disconnect the phone, pull your battery and start your phone. ICS should start with creepy forign language.
Flashing Finalized Stable NANDROID ROM :
Default firmware rom do not come with CWM installed as recovery, so we need to port it now. This is a pretty simple procedure.
Download CWM-English.rar from This link : http://www.mediafire.com/?y0e31h55qurp3y7
Copy it to “F:\sym_ics\SYMICS4\”
Extract using 7-zip > Extract Here.
Shutdown your phone, insert your sim and sd card. Press POWER BUTTON + VOLUME UP button till the GREEN display appears.
Connect your phone with the pc.
Open Command prompt and type :cd F:\sym_ics\SYMICS4\CWM-English (press enter)Fastboot devices (press enter)
You should see something like “???????????? fastboot” Now type :fastboot boot recovery-english.img (press enter)
Wait sometime, CWM recovery should boot.
Now, from the menu, Select “wipe data/factory reset”
After finishing slect “wipe cache partition”
After that, go to “mount & Storage” > “Mount Usb Drive”
Now sd card will be mounted on your pc. Copy “F:\sym_ics\SYMICS4\clockworkmod_rainwalker\ clockworkmod” to your sd card.
Select “Unmount” from your phone. And Select “Go back”
Select “Backup and Restore”
Select “Restore”
Select “ICS_W25_Stable” and confirm, wait for restore to complete, then reboot.
Yah! You are now on ISC stable. Enjoy.

CWM is Clockworkmod Recovery, it's a recovery replacement of stock recovery. the procedure is told is how to install CWM by replacing Stock recovery, if you have successfully flashed "ICS_W25_Stable" you already should have CWM on your system. try by pressing VOL UP + Power and hold untill Red display showes up. I am sorry i can't help you with Language support. But if you don't install CWM on your system then you wont be able to update new roms.

Reset To factory settings, then start using link2sd. internal memory shows low because of preinstalled apps. you can use my 3rd updated rom "OPSHORA". this one is best. i personally use this rom. but you need to follow all procedures step by step. but you don't need to update Baseband again. OPSHORA rom has some Blue screen issue sometime, but removeing your battery will fix it.

Hi,
I found a custom firmware for Lumia 950XL and it might be helpful for the users who still use Lumia 950XL
I will give you my review based on my test and the steps if you want to do the same.
Thanks to:
Fadil Fadz

If the topic already posted let me know I tried to search before posting.
Should you replace your firmware with this?
Yes, yes and yes..
The system is way better than the current firmware.
Pros:
Built-in updated apps like (Paint 3D, myTube, 8 Zip...etc)
Built-in CMD (Real CMD)
You can run (.bat) files
Updated original apps like (Video, Photos, Camera..etc)
I feel it lighter (maybe because I like it)
Unlocked by default
Boot menu contains developer options
File Explorer is updated and more advanced (you can access to the packages directly from it)
Display Scale option (You can control the display scale from the control panel)
Nice organize for Start menu (the way that Fadil organize the menu will give you an idea to build nice structure for the apps)
You can install advanced apps using CMD like (Powershell, XAP installer, DotNet Console..etc)
Nice icons for the default apps
Cons & Tips:
So far I didn't find anything bad
Some icons will appear smaller than before because of the default display scale 100% (for me it's was more than normal), but you can change it form the control panel
InteropTools is Beta (there is Legacy version so I prefer to replace it)
You have to be patience with edgeTile if you want to use it , it's too slow when loading for no reason
CMD with external keyboard is better for some functions and easier to use (use left arrow to remove).

WARNING ⚠:
Please don’t attempt to flash on other devices.
Please don’t flash without using thor2.
Flashing FFU will erase all your data.
Please ensure that you closed WPinternals before using thor2.
Videos always better and more clear (but read the Quick Guide below if this is your first time)

FFU-file
Emergency-files
1- Open "WPinternals"
A- Download FFU + Emergency Files
Goto "Download"
Scroll down then click "Search"
After the results appear Click "Download All"
It will take some time to download
If you already have the files scroll to "Repository"
Click on "Add Existing FFU-file"
Select your file
B- Unlock bootloader
Goto "Unlock bootloader"
Click "OK" to switch to "Flash-mode"
When the phone in "Flash-mode", scroll down and click "Unlock" after reading the descriptions
Multiple reboots expected so you have to wait and don't interrupt the process
Wait until you see this message "You need to manually reset your phone now!"
Restart the phone
Wait until you see this message "Bootloader unlocked successfully"
If the phone already unlocked expected to boot to Mass storage instead of this message
Know Problems
if stuck into Multiple reboots for too long time or you got "Unlock failed", this could happen because of:
You didn't select FFU-file and Emergency-files
The FFU-file is different than the current system (maybe you flashed different one before)
If you bricked the system do the following:
Boot into Flash-Mode by pressing Power + Volume Down once the phone vibrate hold only Volume Down
Then open WDRT for possible restore
If WDRT didn't help check the post below for alternate restore option
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/bricked-950xl.3990253/#post-83830313
C- Switch to Flash-mode
Goto "Manual mode"
Select "Switch to Flash-mode"
Wait until the phone get in the "Flash-mode"
Now close "WPinternals"
Phase 2 (Install the Custom Firmware)
Before flashing if you aware about your files and not sure about the process
Check "Backup Solution" at the end of this post
Open "WDRT" folder
Click on "File" at the top left of the window
Select Open PowerShell
Select Open As Administrator
Now run the following command:
.\thor2 -mode uefiflash -ffufile "D:\Microsoft.MSM8994.P6211_CITYMAN_10.0.15254.547_v2.ffu"
"D:\.." is an example, use your own location
Press Enter
Wait until the process complete
Now to restart run the following command:
.\thor2 -mode rnd -reboot
Note if you are using CMD remove the ".\" from the command at the beginning
After the restart, expected to see the boot menu
Press on the camera button to select
Done.
--------------------------------------------------
Backup Solution
Spoiler: Click to show the steps
Usually I use this solution to backup my phone.
Tool needed:
MiniTool ShadowMaker (Paid) or trial option for 30 days
I prefer MiniTool ShadowMaker for these reasons
Compressed Image
Faster than other softwares
You can backup the whole storage not only one partition
Steps:
Switch to "Mass Storage mode"
Close "WPinternals"
Open "ShadowMaker "
Click "Connect " Under "This Computer"
Select "Backup"
Select "Source"
Select "Disk and Partitions
From the "combo box" Select your device "It should be at the end or the space is ~29GB"
Now select all the partitions one by one (just click on the last one and it will move to the next)
Click "OK"
Select "Destination" and set your backup folder
Click on "Backup Now"
Wait until the backup finish
Now you have a mirror of your phone storage.
Restore
If your phone system is not bricked Switch to "Mass Storage mode"
Close "WPinternals"
Open "ShadowMaker"
Goto "Restore"
Select your "backup copy"
Click "Restore"
Click "Next"
Check if all partitions selected then Click "Next"
Select your "phone storage" (~29GB)
Be careful not to select another drive by mistake
Click "Next"
Then "Start"
Note if your system is bricked.. you need to restore the system using WDRT first then do the Restore steps
After the restore finish
Disconnect your phone
Restart manually
Done, you have restored your old system as it was exactly.

Sorry I'm not sure about this part (because I didn't test it), you can contact the original author (Fadil) directly and ask him about this
but what I'm sure from it that it's prepared with boot menu and can support WOA on SD card but for some technical matters the SD card boot (tool) link dropped and the feature now in progress by WOA team.
