Any major bugs? Roman hinted that a milestone is coming up, should I wait for it?
I'm still on M4 lol.
B31 was a bug fix release from B30. I don't know of any major bugs particular to the rom that persist right now.
The AOKP changelogs are pretty easy to parse what's new as far as features are concerned. Read through them since M4 and see if anything strikes your fancy. 4.0.4 brings it own share of fixes and improvements, but I think most of them fall under the phones being amorphously smoother. A few major bugs resolved, but unless they're already on your wish list probably not a huge deal.
Also, if your phone is GSM, apparently there are signal loss issues in 4.0.4 in general, that I do not think any custom roms have a fix for.
update right away 4.0.4 is waaaayyy better than 4.0.3 and faux kernel is included now
only thing i dont like about b31 is that FIFA closes right away lol
Hi,
I am looking to update my phone (I'm still running AOKP M4). I remember flashing CM9 nightly when it first came out, kinda just wanted to see what it was like. It was very buggy and many, many features had not been implemented. So, my question!
What is the current state of CM9 nightly? What is YOUR OPINION as to how far along it is (with 100% being the final release). I'm not necessarily a 'power user' with my Gnex so all I'm looking for is a reasonable amount of stability.
I know that there are plenty of nightly flashers out there, please share your opinions! Thanks.
I've been running the nightlies for the last few weeks, and I haven't had any problems. Cm9 is still missing a bunch of features that the final release will have, but it's been rock solid for me.

I am no fan of nightlies and only look for stable versions. Currently, I run stock 4.0.4 but am looking into flashing a stable ROM and kernel. I tried AOKP nightly and a franco kernel nightly but want a stable release.
I've heard a lot of good things about AOKP Milestone 4 and Franco's Milestone 2 kernel, but what do you think? I'd like CM9, but there are only nightlies released so far.
What ROM and kernel work best for you that aren't nightly builds, i.e "stables" or "milestones?"
I personally haven't seen ANY problems on the newest AOKP.
I think the buglist on 32 is literally down to 2 things that people have found...
Pressing "reset navbar" causes a SystemUI FC loop.
Fix: Don't press it? All it does is return your navbar back to stock settings. You can do this manually in 5 quick button presses if you really wanted to anyway.
Torch will enable...but not disable...when used from the "power menu" (the menu that pops up when you hold power.
Fix: Remove torch option from power menu...use toggles instead. Or, toggle "off" with the status-bar toggle if you wish.
You see, I don't like nightly builds or builds which are updated every second day.
That's the thing about nightlies. One fix for one bug may break another feature and fixing that might break a third feature. I have had previous experiences with nightlies on my old Nexus One and therefore I want to have a stable release.
I appreciate your input and it's been noted. If many people happen to recommend the nightly builds I might just try them.
I love this phone and have nothing to complain about. It's a huge step up from the N1.
While that may remain true...
And I appreciate the fact that you're a purist...
I'm generally THE bug-finder for AOKP builds.
The devs even seem to take note of my posts...and have PM'ed me a few times asking for logs/details/tests/etc.
Clean flashing (obviously) and I haven't found anything in the last couple days.
Also, while these "builds" are technically "nightlies" in that they're pulled for us at random, it seems...
They also don't occur every night (as you may be well aware) so if the daily flashing drives you away...it'll be more like weekly with AOKP if you want to stay up-to-date.
Gosh.
I never ever recommend a rom to people asking. Generally just tell 'em to "find your zen" on your own...
But I just wanted to emphasize the stability here.
Edit:
Oh, and builds 31/32 are prequels to another Milestone build. So if you don't find something you like by then...Milestone 5 is always a possibility.
I don't know if there will be a 33 first...
But Roman mentioned we're fast-approaching one.

What do you mean with me being a purist?
Lol, just that you like everything to "just work" and be completely stable.
I don't mean it offensively.

Well that's not entirely true, and I guess I somehow worded it wrong. I want a ROM that's stable, kinda lika OTA-stable but anything near a stable OTA is fine by me. The part where it "just works" it not really 100% accurate as I wouldn't choose android as my OS if I wanted stuff to "just work".
Some customization has to be done for me, whether it's homescreen editing or overclocking and whatnot.
Either I worded it wrong or you misunderstood, but I consider the first option since I'm not speaking English natively.
im using black ice aokp with francokernel r135.stable as official release

We honestly need to ban "what's the best rom" topics...
I've decided I want to run a nightly now, after spending hours and hours of checking ROMs, and I think it's safe to say I'll choose between either CM9 and AOKP.
Then it comes down to what kernel to use.
I am really sorry for being such a pain in the rear for you guys.

He he!!
I'm using Aokp 32 and Franco 135. Have had no issues, reboots or fCs. Just ensured not to do the 2 things mentioned above.
I absolutely love it. Couldn't be better.

Okay, I've flashed franco 135 and AOKP 32. Feels alright so far.

My preferences in order of quality, stability and speed.
LiquidSmooth 1.2 (default imo kernel)
BAMF 1.2
Foxhound 0.4
AOKP m4
Liquidsmooth 1.25 + Trinity - Bomb Proof.
May test out a new rom soon but liquid has everything I need so dont see a reason to switch expect the fact to see what other roms has to offer. Still waiting on CM9 to get few more features.
I only use the stable Rooms/Kernels myself. I been using AOKP build 32 and used Tuna-faux 123 and had no issues or problems. I am noe using the stable version of Franco's Kernel. And again, no issues. I used to always use regular CM but after using AOKP I just keep using it. I know there's all kinds of roms built off of AOKP as others. But I just use the stock versions of ROMS. Like stock CM9 or AOKP and not a ROM built off of it.
There's a lot of great choices out there. Find what works best for you and your device.

AOKP 32 with Latest Stable Lean Kernel with Interactivex governor = Best battery and performance!
Honestly I'm loving AOKP M3 and Leankernel 3.0.0. I had battery issues with francos and stuck with it till about #13, then switched to lean and never looked back. My battery life has improved dramatically and performance is still no problem
With regard to AOKP's stability, I used to stay up to date with it but I think I might just start looking for the milestones, mostly because I think I don't end up using the vast majority of features they introduce with every build. I also got hit with that systemui bug in 32 and ended up just reverting to 31 before the devs posted a workaround because it made the phone unusable. I think I got a little comfy assuming that the beta line was generally stable.
I've been thinking of trying Liquidsmooth when they release the newer 1.3, which based on the chatter in its thread sounds like it will be soon.
As far as kernels go, I think leankernel is the way to go if you're a fan of stable releases. The stable branch probably sees an update about once a week with new features. I don't use franco's kernel mostly because the milestone releases are so far and few between, but apparently he's working with the liquid team for optimizing their rom, so maybe franco M3 and liquid 1.3 will be a nice combo to settle into when those hit.

you'll have to go to rootzwiki for it ... try GLaDOS kernel too while you're there i swear by it (after trying them all)
... at least for me imo CM9 + GLaDOS are my picks i always come back to them every time (so far)
ICS source came out (according to the CM website blog post about the CM9 RC1 release) 255 days prior to CM9 RC1.
That is a significantly long time to wait for an RC release from the CM team.
I understand the "why"...
ICS was a significant change from GB, that required a lot of work on the CM team's part to get the features/changes implemented that we expect in a CM release.
But what about JB? It isn't a major update like V2.x.x to 4.x.x that the GB to ICS jump was. This makes me think that when source is released, we should see some beta releases (maybe alpha) fairly quickly.
I would guess we have at least a few months to go before JB releases and source drops for it. (if any rough time frame has been officially released, I missed it) So that means the CM team has a little while to work out the last bit of tweaking needed for CM9, and then they will naturally want to shift focus to JB/CM10.
So... thoughts? Think we will see a faster turn around for CM10 than we did CM9?
Google announced at the jelly bean announcement that the ota for the nexus phones and source would be released mid July. So I'm sure as soon as that happens things will pick up pretty quick seeing as they now have a better handle on how the newer stuff works.

heres your answer to (Think we will see a faster turn around for CM10 than we did CM9?) https://plus.google.com/117962666888533781522/posts/PNJutPNhixo
Sources for JB should be released Mid-July, so no need to wait months to get them. I don't think it will take a long time for people who had CM9 on their phone to get CM10. There is way less work to do to get from ICS -> JB than to get GB -> ICS (Specially because everything changed in Honeycomb and ICS had these change implemented). We should see CM10 beta soon when the sources are out. Codeworkx will do some magic for us .

Thats what I was thinking... CM10 would be quicker.
(never seen the release announcement, so I guessed on time frame from past announcements)
As posted here:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/android-building/XBYeD-bhk1o
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762181
4.1 source has been / is being pushed to AOSP.
CyanogenMod's response:
https://plus.google.com/117962666888533781522/posts/aRVWBbuWQar
During Cyanogens "keynote" before I/O he mentioned that the push from CM9 to CM10 was going to be MUCH quicker than the push from GB/ICS because not much has changed and they can still merge the ICS changes in to a new JB tree....TODAY! I'd expect to see CM10 nightlies in 2 weeks.
Anyone else hoping it gets called CMX instead of CM10?

The team is already referring to it as CM 10 in their posts.
And just like that we have source...
CMX would be cool.
I was just stirring up a little discussion... and a few hours later... source.
I also agree, it would be way cooler as CMX

It's a very exciting time to own a Galaxy Nexus
Right now I'm on the leaked Verizon 4.0.4 (IMM30B) so I can never really get back on a update path without a full wipe. My plan was to wait till the first Stable CM9 and then go through the hassle of the full wipe, and keep updated with the nightlies. But that was before Jelly Bean was released and it was decided that CM9 Stable would be the last CM9 release before working only on CM10. I've got a couple questions...
Is CM10 stable enough to be my daily driver? What's the difference between CM10 rom's that are released by XDA users compared to the official CM10 nightlies (that I don't think are being released yet, I'm guessing compiling the source is the only official option so far?)?
One last question, I heard Jelly Bean or possibly just CM10 had a problem with MHL? I've got an AppRadio2 and need MHL for it to work. Although I've also heard Jelly Bean and AppRadio2's have an entirely different set of major issues...
Thanks
I have been using JB for over a month have used about 5 different versions and really like Euroskank CM10. I am not all that knowledgeable as far as the back end stuff goes but on the face the CM10 versions seem very similar. Brint from CM has a version that was last updated a few weeks ago but there is not an "official" CM release yet.
I would recommend trying a few out to see what you like but to answer your question, there are ROMs out that are certainly stable enough for a daily driver.
I am on 0811 Euroskank CM10 with 0726 gapps and have no complaints.

I dunno about CM 10, but if you're interested in something else, I highly recommend AOKP Nightly Super stable, really smooth/fast and you can overclock to 1.8Ghz
PM me, if interested..
The AOKP nightlies are a blast to use.
