[Q] - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

sorry if already asked, can you use rom from different variant for example use sprints's rom for original gnexus?

NO. You must use the ROM that is specifically designed for your device. Otherwise, you'll be running into issues. The ROMs are made for each model specifically because they have different radio interfaces and other device-specific parts.

so there are only 3 variants?? if its not sprint or verizon then you must be holding the orignal right? thanks for answering

GSM, Verizon, Sprint. The regular "Galaxy Nexus Android Development" section is for the GSM, the other named ones are for the specific carrier models.

[Q] US GSM Galaxy Nexus Rom Question

Hey everyone, I just bought a new Galaxy Nexus. It's the US GSM Galaxy Nexus from Google Play. I'm wondering whats the difference from the International version. I want to root my phone and install roms on it, so should I use the root methods and roms for the International version or is it different. Thanks!

The hardware is identical. The only difference is that it is running takju, which is basically just yakju with Wallet pre-installed.
Its the same hardware. Just follow the GSM guides and you're good to go!

Thanks! I'm about to root it. I wanted to be sure so I don't end up with a shiny brick.
Just stay away from the Verizon/Sprint forums.

Don't worry. I already knew *for sure* to stay out of the Sprint and Verizon forums.
The only difference is that Play Store Nexus users have been reporting that their device does not wipe when they unlock the bootloader. We haven't been able to pinpoint what is causing that difference. Other than that, exactly the same.

[Q] Intenational ROMs on Sprint

Hello all,
I have a friend with the original Galaxy Note who is running the ParanoidAndroid ROM. I found that same ROM for the Galaxy Note II, but only for the international version.
I also found a ROM I'd prefer over the original ParanoidAndroid ROM, JellyBam. This ROM is also exclusive to the international version of the device.
My question is can I safely flash either of these, or I will I be left with a brick? If I can't flash them how they are, is it possible for me to edit them for it to work on the Sprint version?
EDIT: Utacka, the lead developer for ParanoidAndroid, has confirmed he will port it. The only reason we have to wait is because CM10 isn't officially released for the Sprint Note II yet.
+1 PA would be awesome in this device. Cant wait for it!

Right, but I'm wondering if anyone knows how to port an international ROM over to our devices.

You either become a dev or hope one of the current devs ports it/builds the same rom from the ground up.

I'll try contacting Utacka (developer of ParanoidAndroid) and iGio90 (developer of JellyBam) to see if they could port it over. If that doesn't help, I guess I'll try porting it over.

best of luck to you i hope they can try and get it working but if you where to try porting it that could be difficult and dangerous to test if it worked. however i remember seeing someone say the compiled an aosp rom and everything expect data worked
I'd first start with a call to Sprints international dept. and ask about unlocking gsm radios...I have no idea what they did to turn them off....but I doubt just flashing a new international ROM will get them to work. Remember the International n2 has slightly different hardware iirc.

Besides the radios being different and the removal of the optional charging pins, what other differences are there?

IIRC all Note2s have mostly the same cell radios question is what is enabled by the carrier. Some variants have fm radio tuners and som have dual SIM card slots. I thought earlier the intl note2 had a slightly different SoC but I was temporarily insane at that time.

I'd just be porting the N7100 (International) ROM to the L900 (Sprint), so I'd only have to worry about the differences between those models.
According to Wikipedia:
The only differences are 2G/3G/LTE connectivity and the charging pins.
N7100:
GSM: quad-band
UMTS: quad-band
LTE: no
Charging pins: yes
L900:
GSM: quad-band
CDMA/EVDO: 800, 850, 1900
UMTS: 1900
LTE: 1,900(band 25)
Charging pins: no
Mod(s) please close thread.

Diffrents between this forum and AT&T?

What is the diffrent between this and http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1870 if you got an Note 2 4G.
can i flash roms from the AT&T forum?
bump
bump bump bump..because it is wrong section..we have Q&A section..bump bump bump..
via《t4p4t41k》
No. They're different. This is international version and AT&T ROMs are not compatible with Intl. models. If you're getting N7105, you'd have to use N7105 ROMs.

That's 100% incorrect. I have used both the AT&T miui rom and paranoid android, both worked perfect.

Then I stand corrected. Is it just some ROMs then? Or do all AT&T ROMs work on N7105? Recall reading somewhere ROMs weren't cross compatible?

Other roms

Are the Verizon section the only HTC one roms that are available right now that will work with the Verizon phone? Thanks in advance

For now yes. Only flash roms from the Verizon section. If you see a rom in another phone's forum (Sprint for example) that you would like to try, make sure you ask the dev for that rom first and see if it will work on our One.
However, always assume that only the roms listed in the Verizon forums will work on this phone. Flashing the wrong rom will seriously ruin and or brick your phone.

I don't know what you're talking about. All ROMs on whatever version of Android that I've ever ran work with AWS on Wind. ROMs don't change your phone's radio/baseband/hardware so no worries about reception whatsoever. If you want a generic 4.4 ROM recommendation, I'm currently using Paranoid Android 4.5beta2, beta3 should be out soon.
Yes. But there are different models of the phone that work with different bands. I need a ROM for the AWS model

I did some research and found nothing about radio baseband AWS*.
Is AWS for Toro, Toro plus OR Maguro?
Silly me. I should have just done this based on the board/hardware names. I believe it is a toro because it runs android 4.2.1

UPDATE:
Fastboot says board name is tuna. I do not know what to say

You ahve to learn a lot of your Nexus.
Galaxy Nexus is a tuna.
Tuna is common device name for Galaxy Nexus.
Maguro is a GSM Nexus
Toro is CDMA and Toroplus is CDMA too.
Toro: Verizon
ToroPlus: Sprint
To see what versoin you have:
Go to Settings > About phone
Or read build.prop from /system/
Next: Learn about your Nexus and then you know everything what you have to know about your "AWS" radio band...
I know Maguro works on AWS. You'd have to look up the bands of Toro and Toroplus to tell whether those ones function as well. But if you bought yours from Wind, I'm going to say that I'm 95% sure you have the Maguro variant (GSM). Just go here for roms then: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-nexus/development
