I'm on JB and using the latest Apollo from CM9, it force closes. I've been reading in posts by other users that their Apollo works, and I was wondering if anyone had a working APK for JB. Thanks!

This music player works alright, but it's not the Apollo music player I'm looking for. When on CM9, there is a white music player called Apollo that's very polished, and has been included in the last few dozen nightlies.

Hey guys!
I've had my Galaxy Nexus for a couple days now, and I was thinking of loading it up with some movies I have at home. The problem is, I've ripped the movies in 720p .mp4 format on my Mac - but it won't play with the stock ICS player.. Rock Player works sort of, it shows video but it doesn't hide the on-screen buttons.
Rip details is: 720p h.264, AAC audio
Any ideas?

Yeah, stock gallery doesnt play wide range of codecs yet so I rely on MX player instead. But having the same problem tho about the on screen buttons :/
I find that the "dice" player from android market plays more stuff than any thing i can get straight .mkv files running perfect on my GN it is a paid app for the full version but im happy with it.

Do you have the stay-on-screen-buttons problem on Dice Player?
The only player that plays movies in full screen is Dice Player....but it has been removed from the market.
Have you tried Mobo Player? Works great on my Nexus S with mkv/mp4/whatever.

It needs some codec (which cannot find in market) to download first in order to use it...
Make sure you use the right mp4 level I think level 4 is the Max android will recognize all my encodes work so far

I'm using MX video player and MX Video Player CODEC.
Doubletwist is also very good.
All available from the market and have had no issues playing anything so far.

Cool, I forgot about Doubletwist, thanks.
I currently use QQPlayer, Diceplayer premium and Rockplayer. They all seem to play some files and not others.
I tried Moboplayer but ran into trouble installing the codec during the install process (even when installing 'offline')

Update - I just tried Doubleplayer, and while it plays everything it stuggles at times. More jerky (lower frame rate?) than QQPlayer.
I'd be happy with QQPlayer but the seek doesn't play nice. So if I miss something I have to start the video from scratch. And like I say, Dice, Mobo, Rockplayer and Realplayer (yes I was desperate) all appear to have various problems of their own.
I do recall VLC being released a year or so ago. But I guess it was pulled too?
I'd love to know if anyone has found a decent video app... (*I have a 4.5 hour daily commute into London!*)
Dice Player ftw!

Many people reported that it crashes on ICS, is that happened to you too?
can anyone advise me where the stock video player is ..,. i can see my video which is an avi file in the video's program but when i click on the actual avi file android says there was a problem while playing "name of the avi"
i have tried mobo player but the audio is out of sync ...
if there is no stock player can anyone suggest a decent player please
thank you
MX player all the way mate!

well it took me some time to find out myself. but this is the best choice - believe me. no sync issue at all and plays anything you throw at. Full screen and divx support makes me love it! and also easy touch screen operation - like volume/brightness simply by moving up/down on the right/left side of screen during the playback. you will see. top class player. @

there is also no file manager and a bit more missing. but i guess we have to live with it.
What is your opinion? I have tried Google Play Music, TTPod, PowerAmp, CloudSkipper and that leftover player from Gingerbread that nobody wants
Currently deciding between TTPod and PowerAmp. The former would be the winner if it didn't have so much freaking chinese all over it.
What do you guys use?
Miui Music is my favourite.U should try it
Poweramp FTW
Poweramp

Well I personally like the gingerbread music player over the ICS stock music player, which is what I use (and I hate it), so I'm interested in using a different player and I can't wait to see what comes out of this post in the next few days. I usually just use Pandora when I'm at home simply because almost all the songs that play are songs that I already have on my phone, with the ugly UI for the stock ICS player.
Google Play Music here. It's very fast and smooth for me, even with 29GB of music.
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Google Play Music here as well. With my music uploaded to Google Music, I don't have anything on my card anymore.
PowerAMP. The equalizer on it is excellent.
I was always under the impression that between the hardware & software of our smartphones, software equalizers are a mediocre solution at best. You can't really polish a piece of **** yanno.. maybe I just use ****ty headphones (I do) and listen to trashy music (I do), but I never had to really fine tune music coming from my phone's headphones.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
Poweramp by far...however, if Google Music adds EQ and more list options like View by Folders, then I'm all in.
If you like the iPhone or iPod touch music player, you might like RealPlayer. It is not as feature rich as other players, but it's still pretty cool. Just try to forget the evil RealPlayer from the 90s.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5yZWFsLlJlYWxQbGF5ZXIiXQ..
I tried a lot of them and I got stuck with PowerAmp like many others here. The paid version is near perfect. If it has to be free I find the stock player not too bad.
Mike
I tried poweramp but I dont like how its constantly running in the background even after you close it. I didnt see a setting to disallow this.
So far Im just using the MIUI player but its a bit barebones as far as features go
Rocket Player is my fav.. has a super EQ!
Apollo if you want the apk PM me
I have tried quite a few music player and settled on Poweramp. I found once tweaked you can get good sound out of it. It is as flashy showing album art as other players. You can customize the sound to your like globally, album or track. You can have separate presets for speakers, headset and blue tooth. To the post above there is a setting not to run in background. There are a lot of settings, once tweaked it has great sound. I ended buying the pro version. My daughter loves it too. Also it will set variables in Tasker.
Everyone has their own taste and needs.

I'm currently using the JellyBean version of Google Music on my phone (he upgraded the google music player from ICS to JB in the rom I use). I like it so far, I mainly don't use other music players typically because I do not store most of my music on the phone itself.

Know what would be nice... a 3rd party player capable of connecting to your Google Play Music cloud
If you have trouble with the stock cm9 and cm10 music player, you can use this one: It's fast, stable and you can leave the boring artist view with cover from Apollo.
Envoy it!

After Oreo update music played on Spotify pauses from time to time and there's this annoying notification I can't get rid off.
Any ideas on how to override new Oreo power management settings?

That problem with annoying notification was solved in Android 8.1
And one thing that's bugging me is that emui 8 doesn't support the colored notification style that came with oreo.
There's an app available in playstore to hide that annoying notification though.

However, the fact you have to use 3rd party software to hide it is at least disappointing.

Yup. That's why Google fixed it in 8.1 but I don't think we will receive it.
Also, does any of the music player you use give you this type of notification?
