[Q] Team DIRT: CM9 for Evo 4g question - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First, a comment: Thank you all so much for taking over the CM9 development - I'm loving ICS on my 4G, and really appreciate the stability that was absent from another ROM that I had previously tried.
With that said:
I flashed 1.7.5, and seem to be having problems with the ROM retaining settings, specifically with keyboard choice and brightness (haven't played with it for long, so I may have missed other settings as well):
Keyboard setting: Always defaults to the standard keyboard, will not retain the setting to use Swype (every time I try to set it, when I come back the check mark is gone).
Screen brightness: Seems to be defaulting to about 1/3 the slider. I can change the slider setting, but as soon as I hit OK it defaults back to the same setting. Auto is not checked, when I try to check it, it reverts as well.
Sorry if this is a repeat, I didn't find it posted elsewhere.

The dev said to go back to version 1.7 and not to use 1.7.5.

This is correct! Papasmurf is currently working on an update and should be out here soon.......don't ask for ETAs

Hey thanks! I didn't see that post, was looking around for some kind of info in the thread.
And yeah, I know better than to ask for dates
Dumb question though - I only found the one download link - where can I find the previous versions?
Thanks again.

You can find the link in any official Team DIRT thread.

Ok, I'm sorry to be a PITA - but the only link I find is to the changelog download page - and that is only for 1.7.5. *sigh*

1.7 should also be on that page. Try refreshing the page.

Your not being a PITA, I can't find it either. The page only shows 1.7.5 and 2.0 which is not actually downloadable yet (requests a user name and password) I can download 1.7.5 but didn't after reading these posts.

[ROM/PORT/KANG?] 24-03-2012 | Edited Zips Creamed Glacier + IceColdInsomnia

This build was edited by me (mainly for my personal use), based off of Zips Creamed Glacier's 3.11 release, but contains fixes I pulled from IceColdInsomnia 6.2.1.
I don't normally start dev threads, so bare with me (I'm no dev)
What's new:
- Practically everything that's included in Zips Creamed Glacier 3.11 - includes, FFC unlock, Working games (Draw Something does work!), mdj's kernel and so forth.
- I fixed the weather/geolocation issues found in 3.11
- I fixed the USB mount issue in 3.11 (you couldn't mount as a mass storage device while the phone was on [gave you two options that didn't work])
- I fixed the full signal bars issue (reported full bars at all times you'd have service)
- Also included the romcontrol.apk from IceColdInsomnia 6.2.1 and the settings.apk (for those who wanted ROM control settings but had to use the widget shortcuts to use them, you no longer have to as it's included in the settings)
- Replaced the systemui.apk with IceColdInsomnia 6.2.1's (you can haz 4g icons!)
- Replaced Trebuchet with Apex Launcher (This was part of my personal liking, Apex Launcher is the best ICS launcher IMO, try it out)
- May be forgetting something else...
All of the fixes mentioned above were fixed by pulling their respective files from IceColdInsomnia 6.2.1
* Don't ask any of the devs for wifi calling, as it's assumed to not work until T-Mo updates wifi calling for ICS (which should be whenever a T-Mo phone officially has ICS) or unless a dev performs some sort of magic ritual and get it working and stable

My thanks goes to:
- zipsnet - his 3.11 build was used as a base, that's why games work and etc. (ICS thread link here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1555574)
- blackwing182 - for certain files from his build to fix usb and location issues and the AOKP files for ROM control (will post which ones they were specifically later) (ICS thread link here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551456)
and those also to those mentioned in their thanks lists (tell me who I forgot to mention and I'll add you here)
Enjoy!

- Here's the flashable low mic fix by lincore: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24008900&postcount=531
- Don't use the DSPManager that comes with the ROM and complain about volume levels. I'm not sure if this info is correct, but after snooping around in other device forums, like always, a dev put in his OP that the DSPManager isn't really configured for ICS but instead for CM7. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I don't use the DSPManager anyways so

Basically all that you would find in zips' build, I think the only app I took out was trebuchet and the only app I added was apexlauncher. If not, I can fix them later.
For the low mic issues, I didn't put those in my zip, but I can post the link to the fix in my OP.
I love this version of Zip's rom. Very stable. Daily driver. Thank you.

When I go to the tweaks screen where it lists quick settings options and the order i Go to the quick settings toggles and it just crashes SkyRaider Settings app... I've tried clean qipes, different kernels, tried changing settings, researched it everywhere... it's a shame because it's sooo nice!

when picking quick settings, you can't have "WiFi Hotspot" checked or else it will f/c every time u touch the status bar. it will come back, and u touch it and f/c again.
it's a bug I found when 1.3 came out and it should be mentioned in the OP of the thread but is not.
u can however I think pick that as a custom app if you'd really like it.
hope this helps.

Hey Andy I know this is off topic. But is there a fix for free tethering with the stock tether app with the rezound? My wife just got it lol

Patimus,
I had the same problem. I tried three times to install SRZ 1.3. Each time fresh installs full wipes, Quick Settings FCs when you try to open it. I never found a solution, sorry.
I had to revert to a nandroid I had made of an earlier clean install. The only problem I have is I can't edit my profile for some reason.
I'm running SRZ 1.3 with Andy's super sweet ICS mod.
ok, i started a new thread about a bug i found, and no one replied to it, so i cant play any saved MMS vids i have recieved, any one know how to fix?

Same problem here. I never had this problem until I flashed from the April 9, reupload (that is, this one). I suspect there's something wrong with this new (but not updated) file, but I don't have the old file to test it.
I had the same problem. I could not set anything up in taskbar without forceclosing. Downloaded twice. Same link I used. So I assume this all worked for others. If there is a download somewhere of 1.3 that fully works I would love to try it again.
Same problem here. I have downloaded several times and the md5 for the download is always the same, but does not match the one Ihtfp69 has for his upload file. I posted over there. Waiting for a response.

it doesn't match I bet ebcause the one he resently posted says beta, so it may be a diff MD5 sum.
have u tried clearing cache and dalvik?
I did each 3 times. Some say you should, others say it doesn't help. I figured it couldn't hurt. I wipe dalvik and cache anytime I flash anything. Any other suggestions. I want to add display brightness to my quick settings, but it crashes every time.

Here is my saved original (Nov. 2011) of SR's v1.3 ROM for the DI2 - in Dropbox as linked, and all welcomed to d/l and use, matching original MD5 info saved, available as is. With 2 DIC in our household now, been running SR's, Condemned and one of Nitsuj17's ROM for the past few months.
Patiently waiting for SR team's v1.4+ update/newest Rom release, whenever that's going to be. Battery standby time for me lately seemed to be worsening a bit, lots of Apps being updated via Play Store - I dunno, and yes, I too seemed to be running the occassional crashes - minor, annoying but I can live with them. The tweaks done're all based on the original SR ROM, however. It's still one of the best almost stock Sense Rom for the HTC DI2.
* * * * Update #2 * * * * (confirmed as a "good" working ROM as properly installed)
Here's link to Dropbox for d/l - SkyRaider Zeus V1.3 as originally released, 100% unchanged, please refer to detailed instructions posted on SR's website accordingly - https://dl.dropbox.com/u/64025118/SkyRaider_Zeus_1300_Release_VivoW.zip
Enjoy - and, all credits go to SR's Team for their efforts. This is the basis for my tweaks & mods (boot & down animations, KB, lock rings, etc.) since then for 7 months now ... Have a great Memorial Day/weekend & we thank you those who served our country and gave the ultimate !!
BTW & off-topic: had it Sim unlocked by VZW Global Support (8 digits) before going on a Bermuda cruise, ditched the orange-colored "Vodafone" Sim (which was never activated on their system anyway) and used our China Mobile HK Sim for voice & incoming SMS only, worked like a charm - this p/p Sim worked on AT&T and T-Mo's GSM system in the States but roamed on DigiCel on the islands since there's no AT&T or T-Mo (their users also roam on DigiCel.) T-Mo p/p Sim also worked & registered (cool) 700 miles off the eastern seashores and roamed. Cruise Ship Services worked onboard while sailing, so it roamed - disabled roaming & native data completely to avoid billing surprises, WiFi was off - voice line was active the only time for calls & in case of emergency, total unplanned expenses was 55 cents + taxes/charges for 1 Global SMS rec'd at 5 cents & 1 Global SMS send at 50 cents.
So I can confirm that this download will let you configure your quick settings without foreclosing. Thanks again for uploading a working copy!
I also posted a link to my db of the SRZ 1.3 rom that matches the md5 in the OP at TeamBAMF. The link is in the thread over there but I can post it here also just in case something happens with Letitride's link.
Will post upon request.
It has been confirmed that the link in the OP was a beta.
Ihtfp69 is aware of this and working on fixing it.

I pm'd him with a link to my working copy
Apologies to Andy. I just never saw where it says "beta" anywhere.

[Q&A][FAQ][Support][Discussion] CSROM and Graviton

CSROM & Graviton Support and Discussion Thread
This thread was created in response to a new xda initiative to reduce non-development related posts on development threads.
An added benefit of a thread here is that users with under 10 posts can get some help (and won't have to PM me).
I will maintain just one thread (hopefully this works) for both ROMs and all carriers to help preserve my sanity.
Please be sure to specify which ROM you are using and the carrier.
Below are some examples of common types of posts and where they belong
Q&A and FAQ Thread:
"What kernel gives the best battery life with this ROM?"
"Is Nova launcher compatible with this ROM?"
"The battery life for this ROM is off the chizarts!"
"The battery life for this ROM is total crap!"
"I just flashed this ROM and my GPS doesn't work. :crying:"
Development Thread:
"The new cellular data toggle isn't working (confirmed by another user)?"
"I keep getting FC's from SystemUI. Any thoughts?"
"I selected the green battery icons in Aroma but it installed the blues ones (I checked twice)."
"I just flashed this ROM and it bricked my device! "
"The battery life for this ROM is off the chizarts!
(see attached screenshots from Better Battery Stats)."
"The battery life for this ROM is total crap!
(see attached screenshots from Better Battery Stats)."
**********************************************
There are exceptions to the examples above. If you are using a port and your GPS doesn't work I need to know that.
It will probably take some time for threads like this to evolve, so I am definitely open to feedback.

Hey guys,
ATT CSROM v1.4 GS3 - Love the ROM so far, once I got a lot of my apps and data restored and a few issues with that worked out.
Kind of a newb to customs roms. This is the first one I have put on my GS3.
As far as I can tell I am using the CS launcher and would like to the change the wallpaper on my lock screen. However when I bring up the selection screen it only give me the option to use the stock wallpapers.
Can I just move an image to the stock location and have it appear? Or is there another option?

Yeah, it get's tough sometimes. That is why guys like you and the other people that test for me are a huge help. You guys make my life a lot easier by helping out on the threads.
It won't be long before I stop supporting the Atrix. I just don't have the time and I don't use the device anymore.
There is also a pretty good chance I will close up shop for my Sprint and T-Mobile ports for this device. There is not much interest for my ROMs in either forum. Probably not a bad thing since that will lighten my workload.

I am wondering if this thread would be better in the general section. That way it can be Q&A, FAQ, and general discussion. But, like I said in the OP, this is a new concept to we will have to see how it evolves.

If you want to use anything other than a stock wallpaper for the lockscreen you need to have the Samsung gallery installed. The AOSP gallery is not compatible with the lockscreen for pics, or other images on your device.

Can more than one galleries coexists? If so, do I just select another one gallery in the Aroma installer and deselect all other options?
Im still kinda fuzzy on the modify/upgrade process within the installer.

Just a mention,
I installed Light Flow Lite yesterday and toyed around with it. Long story short it broke the AOSP lock screen. By broke I mean any time I would put my phone into sleep then wake it up and interact with any function of the lock screen it would become unresponsive and reboot (fast reboot I think).
I was finally able to get out of it by bringing the notification window down and getting into settings. Disabled the lock screen and the device was fine. Uninstalled Light Flow and wiped the data with TB, but the lock screen is still broken. Haven't tried the touchwiz lock screen for fear of it being broken too.
Aside from that the batt life is amazing and everything works wonderfully. Even got another gallery installed via Aroma and can change the lock screen wallpaper (not that im using a lock screen right now).
Judman
Based on what I have read on this apps web site it wasn't meant for an aosp rom. That sounds like a matter of app not being compatible with the rom so I would say not the roms fault.
Glad you were able to get things back to normal.

You are the second or third user that had this happen. I will add a warning to the OP.
If I remember correctly, Light Flow works fine with the stock lockscreen. But you might want to wait until someone that actually uses it chimes in.

Thanks, I couldnt really find anything else that mentioned having that kind of trouble, but it definitely makes sense. And I wasnt blaming it on the ROM, just saying it was a side effect.
Maybe the mention will keep someone else from breaking their lock screen.

I haven't been able to make my lock screen pie be the same colors as my device wide color scheme. It always defaults to stock colors for that. Ideas?

I haven't been able to make my lock screen pie be the same colors as my device wide color scheme. It always defaults to stock colors for that. Ideas?

Never mind... I'm an idiot. Had to go hybrid properties > apps and change the color for system ui and android system and reboot. Doh.

S3 lockups and LTE?
Hi
I put this on my GS3 (I747 AT&T) last night and so far it's pretty good.
I have noticed some weird occasional lockups and reboots, which is find for unofficial rom, I know what I'm getting into.
My other issue is that it seems to prefer 3G, HSDA, or HSDA+ over LTE even though I'm in a market with extensive LTE coverage. Is there any way to "weight" this?
Also the on-screen soft keys seem redundant, is there a way to disable them without disabling the status bar (PIE mode hides both)?
Thanks!

Lockups and reboots are kernel related you can try flashing another kernel (or wait for an update) I use this. It's the 4/09 All-Star Devs Kernel. You have to make sure if you flash a kernel not to go any newer than 4/09/13 or it won't work this this ROM until it gets updated.
Make sure your APN settings are correct, make sure LTE is selected in your settings and if all else fails do a Speed Test to check your speeds.
You can disable Nav Bar (Bottom) Settings > Hybrid Properties > Nav Bar 0% Apply and reboot if it prompts for it.

Awesome, thanks for the advice, I'll give it a shot!
Actually, I have noticed the same thing for me, only in the past two days.. Specifically: random sleeps of death with no regularity, and when trying to use Spotify, or I Heart Radio when plugged into my headphones (Samsung set that came with the phone) phone will not play music through the app, but it will work just fine when plugged into an aux cable... I have changed nothing in my kernel settings, or system settings since things settled down.
Very strange.
Thanks I was having some problems that kernel seem to fix them.

i'm just curious, but does anyone know why the PA team doesn't have an official ROM for our d2att version? (or am i just missing it somewhere?)

Afaik pa only officially supports nexus devices. Everything else is unofficial I think.

tablet ui statusbar clock size
Is there anyway to change the clock size and position of the date in tablet ui. The giant clock and date rilling off the edge is a deal breaker for me and this ROM. I've searched everywhere I know of and would apprieciate any advise. Thanks

Yup only nexus devices and now the Oppo Find 5 are supported other devices are not supported. Someone has ported Paranoid Android over to unofficial devices.

What do the instructions mean by "update recovery"?
Thanks!
I'm on the latest version of Paranoid Android. I've been experiencing this weird noise. It happens when the phone is placed down or just the screen turning on or off. In the video, it sounds like I'm placing the phone down with some force but I've activated the sound even when putting it down super gently.
Here's the video:

If anyone can tell me how to disable this noise or what causes it, I would be greatly appreciative!

Simple answer:
The instructions are simply telling you to make sure that you have the most recent recovery for your device is installed, and if not, to install it. Oftentimes not having an updated recovery is what causes the Status 7 errors when trying to flash new ROMs.

Uhm, that is odd? Though it sounds like it might be the notification sound of the microsd card disengaging and re-engaging?
Just a thought.
I read in the PA development thread that ATT and TMO roms are.interchangeable. Has anybody tried flashing the T-Mobile PA onto their ATT s3?

Other than the updated kernel and displays drivers there is no difference in roms. Regardless if it'll work it won't give you anything you don't already have.

PLEASE make sure to thank the entire Slim Team for their dedication to this ROM
Please do not clutter any Development thread with non related development chatter

I am not the developer for SlimKat, SlimBean, Slim Fast, Fat Boy Slim, or anything else with Slim in the title.
This is NOT a development thread and as such is designed to be a little more noob friendly than a development thread. Please don't hessiate to ask any questions you have here, but please do try to search first to see if there is a known sollution to your issue before posting a new question about it.
If you have development related bug issue, send an bug report to the Slim team. See post 2 for instructions.
Please see this note from the Slim development team and PLEASE take it to heart!
Please note: SlimKat and KitKat in general is in an early stage. Still some apps are not compatible and still some devices have to fight with smaller issues on the other hands a lot devices are already quiet stable. Whatever please keep in mind that this builds are labled for a reason as beta builds. As a lot slim user know we only tag our builds stable when they are already 100% stable and all features are back. But you will be surprised how stable it is already

Indivudal apps need to be tweaks to run on KitKat. If you have a favorite app that doesn't work, check with the developer of that app first to see if it runs on 4.4 before asking why it doesn't work here. (If it was last updated in February of 2012 or something like that, it hasn't been tweaked for KitKat.). In short, it's probably not the rom's fault.
As of December 8th Blk_Jack is back on XDA with a new thread for Slim Kat!

That is a development thread. Keep your posts there development related. That does not mean "How come my phone no boot?" or "Thx for this ROM iz smooth like butta!". That means specific issues tht haven't been reported 900 times previously. Search that thread for a similar post to yours BEFORE posting!!!
Reporting Bugs:
The Slim Team has a very specific way they ask that bugs be reported. You can do it right through the bug report feature of the ROM. But do it this way...(This is right from the Slim site. It is the best way to make errors known to the Slim developers)
When you submit a bug you want to make sure that nothing from your side is causing it. Otherwise your developer might be hunting a bug which doesn't really exist. The best way to achieve this is by doing the following.
1. Make a nandroid backup.
2. Perform a full wipe (factory reset + wipe /system)
Now we have two different ways, 3A and 3B, depending on what kind of problem you're having.
3A. When you're having a problem with a ROM function, flash just the ROM without GAPPS etc. and boot back into the system. You will boot directly onto the homescreen.
3B. When you're having a problem with a 3rd party app in combination with our ROM then flash the ROM and GAPPS.
Boot now back into the system. You will boot to the setup wizard.
Log in to your Google account but make sure that you untick "Restore from my Google Account to this phone/tablet".
Finish the setup and open the playstore and download only the app you're having problems with.
Now when you're done with either 3A or 3B proceed with the following:
4. Now reproduce the bug (if possible more than once). After you reproduced the bug go into settings and SlimCenter and click on Bugreport. A bugreport.zip will appear on your sdcard in a directory called Slim.
5. Attach this zip in the correct thread along with your report. Please also write detailed description how we can reproduce the bug.
6. Restore your backup from point 1 and wait for a fix (don't ask for ETAs).

I know the device maintainers have been testing the S4 builds for a couple of weeks now and making improvements among their team. So you're not getting an early Alpha release here or anything.
The maintainer for the international S4 is very active in the i9505 forums and has been talking about SlimKat for a while, saying how stable it already is. That's pretty standard for the Slim team. They do not putz around with releasing buggy builds.
That said I'm sure it's not perfect yet. SlimKat isn't going to be 100% error free just yet and isn't going to help you create sustainable cold fusion or anything like that (yet...). So be prepared for a little wonkiness early on. But if history is any indicator, you can probabyl expect a really nice experience from from teh start.
Running good so far!! Missing some things from SlimBean that I really liked but being in beta they will eventually come. Will be my DD assuming I don't have any issues.

What do you see is missing so far? (I haven't even flashed it yet. I won't have the time for another 5 hours until I get home from work and put my daughter to bed. But I'm drooling with anticipation!)

The main things are all the status bar tweaks (hiding battery and signal bars), no theme engine, quick settings are missing a few things, widgets on the lock screen. All I can think of right now.
Still a very solid rom though. Currently will be my DD.

You can enable the widgets for your lock screen. Only bug I'm confronting is that NFC doesn't turn off some times. I have to click it a couple times through the quick toggles. Besides that, I get FC's with gapps but that's been mentioned before.

No theme engine? What are we?
ANIMALS!? What's next, do we have to eat our young?!
I kid! I kid! I understand it's a beta. I'm just messing around. It is funny though, I've gotten so used to my orange themed Androids that its a shocking concept to think I might have to use the standard blue for a week! The horrors! (Again, I'm kidding. If anyone takes this seriously relax)
I do look at people who love TouchWiz and I can't figure out how they put up with not being able to change the colors. This is like the single greatest feature in AOSP ROMs to me, even more than all the actually important tweaks that make AOSP run so well.

There is already an update!
It's called Beta 1.1 Weekly and there is no changelog included with it so I imagine it's just some upstream updates and tweaks since yesterday and not a lot of major improvements. But an update is an update!

So far the beta builds give me trouble booting. I get hung on the splash screen a lot. It akes a bunch of chances to get it to boot. It always eventually works though.
Here's a list of what I've found is missing so far...
Transparent status bar
Dark Slim
Theme Engine
DPI changing in settings (Can probably still do it in build.prop)
List scroll animations
Probably more...
But it's all superficial stuff like this. The 'under the hood' type stuff all seems to work well.
