I have JB installed and I'm trying to pair my SixAxis Controller. I have a USB dongle and a MHL Adapter. I've tried the SixAxis App from the market that I've used before on a few devices and it seems to lock up.
I've also tried to pair it natively which WAS supported on ICS. The bluetooth menu shows the PS3 SixAxis but is prompting for a PIN and failing to communicate. Following some native pairing guides, it suggests you have to physically connect the controller via USB to the device first, let it "sync" up behind the scenes, then pair it normally.
This isn't working either.
I am running JB with a Franco kernel. It could be the kernel but I doubt it. I do know some stock BT drivers wreck havoc with the SixAxis app and typically run using CM stuff.
The PS3 controller does run off USB physically... so I know thats working. I'm just curious if anyone has gotten it to work wirelessly by some fun alternate means.
Sixaxis app is not yet optimized to jb.

! well it should be !
Seems like I'm close with Natively pairing it though. I've reset the phone a few times and left it connected via USB over a few minutes to let it do whatever it needs to do... but still nothing. I just got my MHL adapter and looking to pick up my FF7 save on my big TV.
Guess I can't use my MHL adapter and USB adapter at the same time
I been using mine while in ics playing nes games.. flash jb rom and looks like it couldn't pair.. I send an email to the developer of the said apps and he said that he will look for a solution since there's a lot of people asking about it.

On a positive note, I plugged in my MHL adapter and now my JB is bootlooping after it's been working all week.
Jeesh. I hope it's not one of those days where technology hates me. I think its just the MHL adapter. Unplugged it and now its booting. Plug it in, and it immediately reboots. Bunk MHL and SixAxis.

It's probably a dodgy MHL adapter. I've been using mine on JB with no problems
I flashed back to my Liquid ICS Nandroid and the MHL adapter is working. Restored my JB and instant reboot.
I think it might have to do with the Franco JB kernel.
Anyway. No success on getting the PS3 controller to pair. I miss having a dedicated HDMI port. MHL is kinda stupid.
As for the MHL, my cheapo MHL from Monoprice is working very well with JB and the 32" LCD in my hotel. It had randomly blacked out at home on a monitor, but before travel I did pick up a 2.1amp charger before I left, though, hoping it would help along with usb fast charge.

I had it working flawlessly on my JB Cm10 rom.
I had to download and use the sixaxis pairtool application for windows, change the bluetooth mac address of the controller to match that of my phone. Then, I tried pairing and it worked great. It worked a little weird I suppose but here's what I did step-by-step:
1. Turn on ps3 controller.
2. Open Sixaxis app on phone.
3. Touch Start.
4. It will fail to connect as it "searches", just click Stop.
5. Touch Start once again and it should turn on bluetooth, then display Client Connected: 1.
6. Change IME to Sixaxis PS3.
7. Open game and starting playing.
Actually you dont even need to make it IME you could make it appear as a joystick most if not all emulators now natively use joysticks as well as android games such as dead trigger. LOVE playing dead trigger with my PS3 controller so much easier.

[Update]
Seems like the answer is yes!
I've not got the 3.1 update yet so I can't tests this.
What are the chances that with the new joystick support and host mode that the USB xbox wireless receiver will work? Would be great to use a wireless 360 pad with the emulators and even android games
Xbox360 wont work wireless. only wired. Maybe ps3 ones will work in the future wireless with bluetooth. What i dont understand is that if you will need to download a driver o someone have to make an app like the one for the wii controller.
Just to be clear, I'm referring to the USB connected wireless receiver for PC's to use the wireless controllers. I know work has been done to get it running in Linux, was hoping they would have added support in 3.1 (long shot I know).
Good question on the app, I assume we'll just need the applications to understand the mappings. I assume the emulators will work since they have a built in mapping utility.

If I had a dang OTG cable i'd be able to tell you...wish verizon would start selling them!
I've now got an otg cable and receiver so once 3.1 hits the UK I'll do some testing
As of now the PC adapter doesn't work. Also app developers need to add some lines of code in order to take full advantage of USB devices. I have dne a little research on it, I don't know how much it would take to add new devices to the xoom, but from looking at it people should be able to write/port drivers to the xoom kinda like how the wii remote work using an app. At least this is my understanding of how it works.

Mine shows this message if I connect the USB OTG adapter first to the phone and then connect the USB receiver to it. To get it to work, connect the receiver to the adapter first before connecting to the phone. I use Logitech's unifying receiver with my SGSII and the keyboard and mouse works fine at the same time.

well, if you confirm that work with a new receive of logitech, i can buy a new keyboard and mouse and be sure that work!

The MINI BLUETOOTH KEYBOARD on Amazon works just fine.
As Silverfox said, just get a BT KB/M and you'll keep the USB port free if you want to connect the charger or TV out adaptor.
well.. I'm using the logitech dinovo mini and over bluetooth work fine.. I had also try some other device..well my opinion is that the logitech device are supported without problem in both version wired and wireless. The other device depend.microsoft for example don't work correctly if you have the version with the big receive.
I had on try the new version with the little usb key.
Some other economic keyboard wired not work..
But with logitech di novo mini i had solve my problem.

maybe someone knows where to change settings. My problem: when I connect my wireless USB HP kbd/mouse dongle, my device identifies them as kbd/mouse, but I'm using only mouse. I am just working on this setup, For that one need to use Bluetooth mouse and keyboard AND Samsung MHL HDMI cable.
I already had a Logitech Bluetooth mouse, and yesterday i bought Bluetooth mini keyboard which is HID and works very well with Note. Its available globally in <USD 20$.
My MHL HDMI is on the way, i should be playing around this weekend with this stuff.
Having teamviewer already configured for my work and home laptop, this should be real fun to use Note (CPU) and my HD TV
I have used MHL to TV, and bluetooth KB and Mouse for input. Works like a charm!

I am looking forward to purchasing 64GB flash drive for connecting through OTG. Do you guys think it will be supported? What is the maximum size that it can support?
Note, right now, only supports FAT32 File-System.
So even if you have a 64Gig Flash drive, it will still have to be formatted in FAT32.
Windows itself does not format anything bigger than 32GB in FAT32.
Also, you can't put any files bigger than . . i am not sure, either 2 or 4 GB each on a FAT32 formatted drive.
Siyah Kernel has NTFS and CIFS support, but no Note Support yet.
Abbyss has Note support, but no NTFS and CIFS support yet i think.
My OTG cable works fine when connecting a USB stick or a card reader, I am able to use the memory on the attached card.
However, I connected the Logitech dongle for a wireless mouse but it doesn't have any effect on the Note. Am I missing some settings somewhere? I have looked but I can't find anything. I assumed some drivers would be needed for this type of connection but looking at your comments it appears you got it to work without issue.

I'm using a Transcend 16GB JetFlash USB3 thumb drive to play TV shows and general transfers to the device - I get over 20MB/s transfers from my PC to the drive over USB2, so it's quite a bit quicker than copying to internal or external SD on the Note itself.
Sorry for this but to get started........
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR A BROKEN PHONE OR A MESSED UP CONTROLLER. IT SHOULDN’T HAPPEN AT ALL BUT IT COULD SINCE YOU ARE CHANGING THE BLUETOOTH ADDRESS FOR THE CONTROLLER IN THIS MOD. THE APP EVEN SAYS NOT FOR THE FAINT-HEARTED.
Mods please let me know if it is in the wrong section.
Note: You do not need a PS3 to do this.
Well, now that’s over with, let’s get started.
You need:
A rooted SGSIII (mine is ATT, but others should work.)
A computer/laptop
A Sony PS3 Wireless Sixaxis Dualshock 3 Controller
A Sony PS3 Wireless Sixaxis Dualshock 3 Controller USB mini cable
The Sixaxis Compatibility Checker (to check to make sure your rooted SGSIII will work.)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...kaW9zLnNpeGF4aXNjb21wYXRpYmlsaXR5Y2hlY2tlciJd
The Sixaxis Controller App to make the controller work with the phone
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...5ncGl4ZWxzdHVkaW9zLnNpeGF4aXNjb250cm9sbGVyIl0.
SixaxisPairTool (For changing bluetooth address on controller)
http://www.dancingpixelstudios.com/sixaxiscontroller/tool.html
The Website for the Instructions for getting things to work.
http://www.dancingpixelstudios.com/
First with your rooted SGSIII, download the The Sixaxis Compatibility Checker from the link above to make sure you can do the mod.
Next buy/get these items: A Sony PS3 Wireless Sixaxis Dualshock 3 Controller and
A Sony PS3 Wireless Sixaxis Dualshock 3 Controller USB mini cable.
Charge the controller through a USB port till charged with the cord you bought. I don’t have a PS3 so I charged the controller through either a computer USB port or my Nintendo Wii USB port. The controller wouldn’t charge through a wall socket.
Download the Sixaxis Controller App to find your bluetooth address of the phone and use the app for later use.
After the controller is charged, you need to download the bluetooth changing address tool called SixaxisPairTool from the link above to your computer. All directions are there. Once that is installed, connect the charged controller to the computer with the cord you bought and let the computer install all drivers of the controller on the computer. When drivers are installed, follow the directions on the website and on the tool to change the bluetooth address to match the phone's bluetooth address.
Once you have changed the bluetooth address and installed the app on the phone, activate the Sixaxis Controller App and once it says searching or looking for controllers, press the Playstation symbol button on the controller to connect the controller.
Once it connects, the the hardest part starts.
Side note: Please use this site for any questions regarding the Sixaxis App and connecting the controller to the phone if you get stuck. The link is crucial in some parts of the guide since it has directions to get this mod working.
What I mean by hard is once you have it connected, or at least for me. I had to map all the button presses within the app for each game to work. Basically it’s trial and error especially in the settings menu. I will post screenshots eventually for the three games I have installed to better explain.
Future plans for this guide include game mapping pics and a ton of screenshots to help newer users with customizing the settings.
Any questions, comments, or stuff to make this guide better please post in thread.
Please let me know if something is totally off since its different for me making a guide and already knowing how to do this mod.
Here is the NBA Jam for example.

Since most of the cool and good games cost money, I am proposing that anyone that has games they own and I haven't already posted, to please PM the control layouts to me. Then let me know in the thread that you sent the PM. Don't post pics in the thread or this thread will be extremely hard to load. I will post them then in the OP, give you credit in the OP for them, and I will hit the thanks button for whoever post there pics THROUGH PM.
The control layouts are the big pics in the OP if you have no idea what they are.

You can take a screenshot of your game while all the buttons are shown and then import the image into sixaxis to make button mapping much easier.
Go to Preferences > Touch Emulation > Edit Touch Profiles ... double tap for menu and choose the Change Background option, you can pick a previously taken screenshot to help get your button placement perfect.

Thanks for the info, i didn't know you could do this. Yeah, I always hated how playing an emulator, my thumb and fingers would take up half the screen.
I'm pretty sure you can just hook up the ps3 controller with usb cable to re-pair the bluetooth with the ps3. I have a bluetooth dongle on my pc that i use the ps3 controller with, so i just hook it up with a cable when i'm done and that seems to work.
Question though, how bad does this kill your battery and what is the response on the controls? You probably can't set deadzones i'm guessing. EDIT: Never mind you can set deadzones. how do the buttons feel though?

All the games I play with the controller feel great. I dont usually play with a ps3 controller so i personally have to get used to that.

Can't freaking pair
I have a genuine Sony DualShock 3 Sixaxis controller. I have tried to reset the master bluetooth address of the controller using the Sixaxis Pair Tool. Each time I click Update it appears to update the address with the one from the phone. However, each time I try to pair the controller after that following directions on the DancingPixel website the controller doesn't pair. The lights keep flashing instead of stopping with only one light staying on.
So, I got an OTB adapter because I've read that if you connect the phone to the controller and then try to pair them it worked for some people. But when I try that the controller works when plugged in to the phone but it never pairs with the phone. When I go to the bluetooth settings and select the controller from the list to pair it pops up a message saying "Unable to communicate with PLAYSTATION(R)3Controller-ghic" and fails to pair.
Any help would be appreciated.

Did you put : in the spaces of the numbers of the bluetooth address and match it exactly? The zeros can look the letter o. That could be the issue too. I will look into the issue tonight and let you know.

Yes, I entered the address correctly. When I click Update it shows in the app that the Master address was what I entered but then when I unplug the usb cord (as instructed) and then press the power button on the controller (as instructed) the lights keep flashing.
Then, when I plug in the controller again to the usb cord the app shows the original bluetooth address of the controller and not what I just updated it to.
I also have an HTC One X which I haven't bothered to root yet to try doing this with that phone so see if I get the same results with both phones. If that happens then maybe it's my controller that is wonky. I will report back the results of what happens with my HTC One X.

This is what makes me wonder. Sorry to keep asking you questions, but did you install all of the controllers drivers?
Did you install the latest sixaxispairtool which is 0.2.3?
Edit: there is a reset button on the back of the controller which a paper clip can do.
Its to the right of the screw.
Edit 2: My pair controller never worked either. I just hit the start button and when the phone app says listening for contoller i pressed the playstation symbol button and it connected button after i changed the bluetooth address though.

It worked on my HTC One X. It took me a while to root it (there's a one-click root but it's a bit confusing) but I got it rooted and then tried again with this phone and it paired the first time. Now that I know it can work and I can get it to work on one of my phones I will try again on my GS3. I may try pressing the reset on the controller as you suggested just for $hits and giggles.
I will report back after I give it another go.
Are you sure it's a genuine controller? It sounds like a fake by the issues you are having.

I'm pretty sure it's genuine since I got it from Amazon from a reputable seller and it came in the original packaging and it has all the original markings on it. I mean, if it's a fake it's a damn good one. Besides, I got it to pair fine with my HTC One X phone on the first try. I just can't get it to pair with this GS3 for the life of me.
I went through this exercise only because I've been playing Dead Trigger and my big hands and fingers make the screen go nuts sometimes. I prefer to play it on the GS3 (it just seems faster) but I can settle for playing it on my One X. I can use it on the GS3 if I connect the controller to the phone via the OTG USB cable but that sort of defeats the purpose of buying a wireless controller.
Changing the Bluetooth address of the controller doesn't effect its ability to connect with the PS3 after does it?

Does anyone know how to setup the controller or becase it is a 3rd party device the access blocked?

Are you just trying to connect via bluetooth? I haven't done this in a long time (way back on my Xoom) but I thought you needed a 3rd party app and Root access to link them.
Someone confirm? Would love to play Soulcraft II - with a gamepad.

Moga has an app can be downloaded from the play store (moga pivot) and yes it uses bluetooth. This should work without root. If you google moga is a big name which should work on android 2.3 and above. I think the reason is samsung which is now blocking all 3rd part devices from 4.4.2 but I am not sure. I think the only option left is the samsung gamepad..
Not for $100 bucks. That's plain crazy
I use an OTG cable and PS4 controller.

It just supports it. Yes I have rooted but I have 3 Tab Pros as well that are not rooted and it works just fine on them as well. It also worked on my Tab S before I rooted. OTG is always supported on android devices.

Did you have to download any apps for button management?
I use my ps3 controller as gamepad with an adapter and it's working flawlessly. I've tested it with Dead Trigger 2 and Rayman Fiesta Run.

If anyone gets a wired xbox controller to work, please let us know what you did. I was totally just hoping it was going to work and it doesn't. (at least for me). I just get a blinking light on the xbox controller. I have the 10.5.
I even rooted and installed USB/BT JoystickCenter Gold Demo but then that gets a 'can not get access to /dev/uinput error'

try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/orig-development/kernel-skyhigh-tw-kernel-t2806563
Thanks so much for suggesting something but I'm too anxious to try it, since that thread says it's only for the SM-T700 (8.4") and I have the 10.5". He even specifically states it in post #3.

Has anyone been able to get the sixaxis app working? I can't... I believe it has to do with a missing Samsung Bluetooth protocol in newer Samsung devices.
That was one of my main reasons for getting a tablet!
Not that it matters but I emailed Samsung support and their response: Thank you for contacting Samsung. I see that you would like to know whether Galaxy Tab S supports hooking up to a wired xbox USB controller. I do understand your concern and requirement. However, this Tablet does not support wired xbox USB controller. Unfortunately, as of now theere are no compatible controllers that use an USB OTG cable for this model from Samsung and Samsung does not have any tested results on using PS3 controller with the Tablet. I hope the above provided information address your concern.
controller recharges the tablet
is it possible to connect the controller (that has a battery pack) to the tablet and recharge the tablet?
eg. can a xbox one controller, that has a battery pack, be connected with an mhl cable/usb cable to a tablet and be used to charge the tablet? so the tablet is not drained while playing games.
(i asked this in the accessories forum too, apologies)

Thanks for the info! I just ordered an otg cable. Are you able to get two controllers working with the six axis app, or just one? My goal is to be able to use emulators with two Wireless PS3 controllers. Thanks!

I tried that, but the Galaxy Tab won't find the controllers. I've set it up on multiple devices, but couldn't get it working on this one.
I read that the newer Samsung devices don't come with a Bluetooth protocol that is required for sixaxis to work... I hope I'm wrong!
