I ordered and just received infuse car dock and desktop dock for my galaxy s3. Thanks ookba, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1725013
the car dock is perfect fit but the desktop dock is little tight but still fits. The infuse dock has speaker build in but when I dock my galaxy 3 and play music, music comes out of phone speaker, not the dock speaker. How can I enable the desktop dock speaker? The manual says I need to down load samsung desk home from app store but I can't find such app.
there's actually a setting in the phone itself. forget where, but Im sure you can find it

You won't be able to find the app mostly likely because of who you have your service with. You can search for it on google play, using the web browser, but you still can't install it.
There is an option in the dock settings to control where the audio outputs to. Select "settings" and then select "dock".
How's the sound when you connect the car stereo with car dock? Mine sounded horrible flat bass and vocal sounds scratchy

Hi ppl,
I'm looking for a viable car dock solution. Ideally, it should pack both aux connectivity and charging.
Actually I found this Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 Desktop Dock
which effectively charges the phone AND gives aux connectivity trough the USB port.
Of course it's not designed for a car, yet I think I could find a way to fix the dock to the dashboard.
Question is...
Will it hold the phone tightly enough to use it in a car in portrait/landscape mode ?
you mean the one that stands the phone portrait right?
it should hold just fine but you cant put it on landscape.. why would you use a desktop dock as a car dock anyway? i mean, its not meant for it..
car dock works better.. you could set it on both portrait or landscape..
aux output? buy a 3.5 to 3.5 jack and plug in to your head unit (if it has 3.5 aux input)
power? if your car have usb socket (for ipods, usb drive, etc) you can plug in your phones data cable to charge the phone..
use either:
blu-tack or
velcro + superglue

Or a mixture of all three?
The official Samsung Car Dock has AUX out and USB Charging...
I bought yesterday this car dock from Samsung: Samsung Galaxy S2 ECS-V1A2
(sry cant post external link, cause im to new on this board ^^ )
Its perfect, strong hold on the window, but u can easy remove it. It charges the phone and has a aux out. It also let ur S2 turn into Car Mode when u dock it in.
The front from the car dock can be removed with the phone inside.
The desktop dock from ur first post is also for landscape mode, so u can lay the pohne on the side.
Hope i could help u.
Thank you all !
I didn't notice the official car holder has such a feature. I'll go for it !!
Im using the official car holder too. You really need two hands to get the s2 out of it. If you try it with one hand, it might also work, but no matter how much you have fastened the screw it will move.
The integrated aux input is not working properly. The audio signal is about 30% of the quality the headphone jack gives you. I recommend using Bluetooth or the headphone jack. Though, having such a port w'that is not useable is really annoying...
Why don't you use a car mount holder as a desk dock
Can the Samsung car dock accommodate phones with cases? Will the fit with say a TPU rubber case?
Hi,
I just bought an official car holder for my Note and plugged the charger + 3.5mm audio jack in to my radio, my problem is that the car holder does send my music nor navigation sound nor phone calls through the car speakers, instead it goes on the Note's speaker and i don't want that! Anyone have a solution?
I had the same problem, go to Settings -> Dock and enable "Audio output mode".
I find the sound quality to be very good.
Thanks a lot!! My previous sgs 2 worked from the start thats why i didnt know what whas going on

Hi, I've had this dock a few weeks now and I think it's almost perfect. It has excellent build quality and the ease and power of the suction cup is fantastic.
My only gripe is when I set the phone to external mode for the audio it works great with music and videos, even ringtones and notifications but calls only come out of the speaker or the phone itself as opposed to the car stereo system as would be ideal.
Does anyone know how to fix this as it makes receiving and making calls almost impossible and that's one of the main reasons I bought the dock in the first place.
Just want to bump this thread, really hoping someone can help me out

What do you guys think is the best car dock for an older vehicle. Mostly want it for streaming of music off the galaxy s3. I would kinda like a non FM transmitter one but that might be my only option.
Thoughts?
Official accessories still seem to have limited availability. So I suppose you could choose any generic dock that would fit your vehicle. I prefer windscreen suction mounts my self. I have always in the past select the official accessory dock but it seems the Samsung dock for the GS3 will no longer have the built in USB power that the one from the GS2 or Galaxy Note had.
You mentioned streaming as I have an older Jeep and for long trips like listening to audio books I use the Satechi SoundFly to broadcast the sound to the car radio.
OK, here's my setup:
Note II VZW phone, completely stock (Go Launcher Ex installed)
CarHome Ultra App
iBolt xProDock Car Dock **
Samsung Galaxy Desktop Dock Station (recently RMA'd)
** I originally ordered the iBolt xProDock for my HTC Droid DNA, which came with the dock, HTC charging "arm" and 9ft USB cable. After having to switch phones to the Note II, iBolt was kind enough to send me the Samsung charging arm at no cost.
Disclosure: This is my first Samsung Android phone owned.
With my HTC phones, even the DNA, when I put the phone in a Car Dock, it would prompt to start the HTC Car Dock app (or in my case, a choice between HTC's and CarHome Ultra, which I would choose to always open CHU). If I put the phone in a "home/desktop" dock, it would ask if I wanted to start the "Desk Mode/Desk Clock" app.
With the Note II and the docks mentioned above, when I put it in the iBolt car dock, it prompts if I want to open CHU or Desk Clock. When I put the phone in the Samsung OEM Desktop Dock Station, it prompted the same thing. When I plug the phone into the Car Dock and choose CHU "Always," then when I put the phone in the Desktop Dock, it would start the CHU app. (Likewise, if I chose Desk Clock>Always for the Desktop dock, when placing the phone in the Car Dock it would start that app.)
Questions:
Does my Note II really not know the difference between docks?
Anyone know of stock settings for the Note II to get it to see the difference between the docks? (No, I don't want to mess around with NFC tags or Tasker programs if I can help it.)
Is there a Desktop Dock that will ask to start the Desk Clock app that isn't the OEM Samsung one? (The one I had for 2 days was very cheap and broke. VERY poor build quality, especially for what it cost me!)
Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions/help.
I'd like to know this too. I have the Note 2 for Sprint, the iBolt car dock, and the Samsung Smart Dock. At the moment, it always opens CarHomeUltra in either dock. I'm guess I may have to make GentleAlarm or the Samsung like Dock Screen the default, and use NFC to force it for the car mode when I'm in there.
Wow, no answers or even additional "me too" complaints. I guess not many people use both a car and home dock. I want to use essentially the same setup as the OP but with a S4. My old Droid 3 (running Gingerbread) would nicely launch the appropriate dock app depending on the dock - Bedside for the home dock and Car Home Ultra for the (obviously ) car dock. My new S4 launches the same default app once it's chosen regardless of the dock. Seems like a huge step backwards.

Don't know but I'll tell you when I get mine. The pictures look like there is some wiggle room. Enough for me to give it a shot.

It does not fit my official extended battery cover with Diztronic cover. Thickness is not an issue but the male USB plug is too short to reach the jack. You all can have fun with that statement.
Any more updates on this dock?
I'm looking for something that will charge and put my phone into dock mode. I have a blue tooth connected speaker that I can play music out too.
Ideally I would prefer if the doc was horizontal so that I could watch video on it as well, but I haven't seen much available like that.
Dock
I'm interested in some updates on this as well. However I'd assume from seeing the low rating on Amazon that this isn't that good.
