I don't see any harm in taking the update. Afaik it is just a radio update which can be reversed by running the ruu back to an older version. Try it and let us know your results.

It brings me to the cwm recovery menu and when I locate the update -sdcard/downloads/update that's where it is, it says this software could render your phone incompatible but it's an ota update
So it should work. I'm just scared to brick this phone I just got it two days ago so I could return and say it's not working I want another but I got it on sale and I don't know if they would do that or if I have to pay the extra 100$ which I can't do. Do if it doesn't start up what could I do to fix it? Like when you flash you have to fastboot a boot.zip file right? How do I do that? I'm still on stock obviously and I have a backup of my current status and completely brand new stock, thanks guys

To install the OTA update, you'll need to restore the stock recovery, stock kernel, and most likely relock your bootloader. If you are using Virgin Mobile, be warned, the OTA is not compatible with any roms or kernels available now. If you try to install any custom roms or kernels, you will be stuck in a bootloop and will have to RUU back the older version to install them.

Ok thank you I am using virgin mobile but I like the stock phone I feel changing roms is too much work and I feel as if I won't like them plus I need a computer 24/7 and also I don't feel comfortable with switching back and forth all the time if I don't like anything. Mods can delete this if they'd like I got my answer thank you guys

i am new to flash custom ROM on one V. i wasfine with the original ROM,but now some of the apps are getting very slow to get response, especially the phone, people and messaging. the system software already updated to the latest version, i have tried clean cache as well, is there a custom ROM can solve this problem, or it can be solved without flash a custom ROM?
if flash a custom ROM is a must, anyone can recommend which ROM meet my requirements?

If you updated the phone, the new radio has a problem with the kernels used by the custom roms that are being released here and the phone would constantly reboot itself when a different kernel/rom is used. You can still unlock your bootloader and root the phone, but you will be stuck with the stock rom/kernel.
You might want to downgrade the radio first by running the official RUU.
After you downgrade the radio, you can then unlock your bootloader and root without having any kernel problems. Something about the updated radio that comes with the OTA update ruins any custom rom/kernel installation.

Hmm.. this only happen to a CDMA, not GSM and I believe OP has a GSM device.
Sound much more complicated than I think. Is there a thread teach noob how to downgrade radio?

You don't have to worry about downgrading radio... your device is a GSM as most of us in Asia.
I do not how to downgrade. Previously was using Samsung galaxy 3 which is way simpler to flash custom rom without unlock this and that. I am just afraid brick my phone. Anyway I just downloaded an app called contacts + so far it solves my problem like a charm

Hello all, I am rooted stock 4.0.3 and I do not want to risk messing up my phone by flashing a Rom but I want my phone to be as much like jelly bean as possible. Please share any tips or apps that can help me achieve this.

Nova launcher
Nova Launcher, Holo Locker then download the ICS Dialer, JB Messaging and JB Contacts app from appstore. That's about as close as you'll get without flashing, in all honesty nothing will go wrong, you've already rooted so I assume recovery is installed so you're 99% there.

actually i havent installed recovery. i have tried both cwm and the team win recovery (cant remember the initials for the whole name) every time i try via my computer, or rom manager it will install but it effs up my phone and it just sits there on the screen saying "this build is for developmental purposes only" and i eventially have to reboot myphone myself. what am i doing wrong? and curtis: what rom are you using? how many times have you flashed one? and how manytimes has something went wrong? im only 15 and i dont have a job yet so if something does go wrong i cant get a new phone and my mom would be P.O.

Just follow the steps on the one click toolkit, all you need to do is unlock bootloader then install recovery and reboot and done. Just make sure you download the correct one (GSM or CDMA). I've flashed this device plenty of times in the 3 month I've had it with no problems at all, I've also messed about with my last two devices with no issues. And I'm only 17, I'm on an apprenticeship wage so I can't really afford a new device but it's really worth doing, if something goes wrong you can always depend on the people at XDA to help you out in recovering it.
I use MyOneV, its based on Sense Lite but I do prefer the Cyanogenmod based ROMs such as CM10 but I can't get enough of the Sense camera.

Installing apps of jb will not help... The smoothness....!!! The feel of using it will never come at any cost... And dont worry, i hav flashed roms approx. 50 times and nothing went wrong...
Recovery:- try twrp 2.4.4.0 and choose the correct one.... i.e. u r primoU or primoC...
Kernel:- flash dat seperately via fastboot..
Rom:- its up to you...!!!
P.S. please do not be on stock... Try a sense rom if u like it... But no stock... Its not deodexed so u cant even mod it freely...
R: Apps to make jelly bean without flashing rom
Flashing roms is easy once you flash the first one
I suggest you to flash CM 10 but since you want jb feel without it so here you go :
Apex launcher
Holo locker
Camera jb +
Clock jb+
Flash Google now for stock ROM if you want
Jelly bean status bar
Jb messenging app
ICS dialer
Install this much and you are good to go and I highly recommended you to flash Google now its the best feature of jb and flashing this also will not change your ROM or system but since you mentioned that you don't want to flash anything its your choice but its highly recommended
Yes I have flashed google now and am thinking about flashing a Rom. I have noticed google now has a horible amount of lag though.. and is there anyway I can flash a Rom without flashing a kernel as for that would require me to use a computer and right now my computer is down. Or can i flash the boot.IMG using just ny phone?

hello friends,
I'm a newbie.I'am facing some issues with my htc one x. Which is firstly I was Flashing a rom in my phone, where i could flash boot.img successfully butlater when i was installing d rom from recovery it said installation aborted .When i rebooted the phone it freezes at the HTC bootscreen .Then I tried another rom but the same problem continued. Now when i want to go back to stock, i restored my backup but my phone is stuck over HTC bootscreen,I even flashed the stock boot.img. Now, I have no idea how do i proceed ahead:crying:
Please help me to get out of this.
Regards

Recovery is CWM and i was running d stock rom yet.I tired flashing Probam and sentinel roms.
Oke flash this recovery
https://www.dropbox.com/s/xvcapmh8tsw5o3b/twrp-endeavoru.img
And try again. Is your hboot high enough ? What's the number, you can check that in the bootloader.

Hboot is 1.73. And should i Change my recovery with urs link given above?
Well the one above flashes sense 5/aosp roms and kitkat roms. So you don't have to switch recoveries everytime !

Okay! Then what should i do nest sir? and another problem which i forgot to mention is recovery isnt mounting the sd card
Then use this recovery to mount
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yqzlpqo8illa53j/Philz recovery 5.15.9.img
And you can use this recovery for every rom except kitkat roms !
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
is there no way, which can give me my phone in working condition immaterial wheather will it be rooted or not later. Because i want to get out of this as soon as possible as my phone is stuck at boot screen since hours
Yeah flash philz 5.15 from my link, flash the boot.img from a sense 5 rom, make a full wipe and install the rom !
And if it bootloops you boot it into the recovery and let the battery charge in there, otherwise you will have another problem very soon !
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Okay:fingers-crossed:! So the procedure of flashing the recovery remains the same inspite having a recovery present in the system ?
Yes rename the file to recovery.img
Then flash :
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
is it necessary to install stock rom? or it is even fine with custom rom by philz recovery ?
You can use any custom rom you like, or indeed use the stock rom.
If you wish to restore your backup it's recommended to flash the boot.img and the recovery.img from the nandroid backup folder, make a full wipe and restore the backup

what do you mean exactly ? on the running software ? inside recovery ?
No.....I had kept my phones power down and left it over to charge but after a long time i noticed that charging sign which was not present before, but anyways it didnt boot ahead
I m flashing the recovery now as the phone is quite charged.
It shows assert failed : getprop and lot many things and finally gives installation aborted . Did it from philz Recovery.
What rom again ? Philz 5.15 only supports NON kitkat roms ! Any sense 5 rom should be flashed fine with that recovery. Otherwise take the TWRP i linked before !

It is inst mounting the sd card. Should i restore the backup by flashing the boot.img of stock rom? And secondly it shows something like this when I perform wipe dalvik cache.
