Hi all,
I tried the search function and could not find anything. So I hope someone can help me. And I hope I am in the right section.
First off, my phone is not rooted. I looked at my phone, and found that the update was available. I was going to wait until I got home and update, so I hit cancel.
I got home, and when doing an HTC update check, it says "No Update available"
I have tried several time, I have used the original rom that the phone came with and it did find the update to 1.32. But now it still won't find the update for the one released today.
Any help on this would be appreciated
Thanks in advance, and that you to all the developers!

Update was pulled. Damage control team has been pulled in to asses and rectify the current issue. More details as they become available.

htc pulled the update because for a small number of users after applying the update they would not get the "update sucessfully installed" message and they would either search for the update and see it a second time or would get another message saying it was available again. Downloading and applying it a second time sometimes bricked the phone and it would not startup again. I had this happen to me today but thankfully after I installed it a second time it worked after a longer period with the bricking. HTC software engineers are looking into it. I don't know what this guy is talking about with the damage control devs looking into it because they have nothing to do with the release of official OTA updates they just cook roms
Let me clarify by stating that my previous post does not in any way imply that the "dev" team is working on the OTA issue. Obviously they are not the ones to address the issue.
My apologies Faus if this was not clear enough for you.

Okay, so I installed a leaked OTA on my phone which gave it 720p and yadi yada..its not the FroYo update. Anyway, so i want to downgrade, but i cannot get my phone rooted at all. I tried doing the Unrevoked method, and heres the mutiple things that happened...It will stay stuck saying pushing recovery...or it will reboot completely and stay stuck saying waiting for reboot, or it will say communtications lost(or something like that), or it will say waiting for system to settle. But it WILL NOT root...at first i thought it was my computer, but i tried it on another one and got the same results. Not only do i want to get rid of the update, but before i installed the OTA, i installed the Droid Incredible official boot animation on there and i cannot get it off nor can i get any other boot animations on there.....in general, i want it to be factory fresh. PLEASE HELP!
Dod you uninstall htc synch

If your having trouble with unrevoked make sure you have the bootloader driver installed and that you have htc sync removed along with the my htc driver uninstalled

I thought they pulled z4root from the market?
Welcome!!
As it has been stated before, you'll need those drivers.
I've rooted 2 epics, the first one was done slowly and worked fine.
2nd one. I thought I got everything, but rushed it, and kept getting errors.
Had to re-read instructions,.. Make sure you follow everything, I remember I had to mount the SD card. (or was that flashing recovery...)
steps might have changed as this was so long ago.. I remember that kept getting me stuck.
Hi everyone. I am new to the incredible section...I am not a newb to rooting and flashing as I come from the HD2 section. However I am trying to root a friends incredible and I have done everything needed to get unrevoked on on my computer with the correct drivers. I tried to root it several times and it just gives me the "error root failes, is your firmware too new?".
I have tried to do the Z4root way like mentioned in another thread and I just get the same thing. Does anyone have any solid help or advice? Trust me I have searched over and over.
Thanks in advance!

it is downloaded directly from unrevoked v 3.32...I also tried it by selecting "disk drive" instead of "charge only as suggested in another forum.

Yeah I picked the incredible and I have already tried to delete and re-download and still no difference.
Is it an AMOLED or Super LCD? I remember having a fight with my GF's SLCD incredible because it gave the same error. Do you have the ADB driver installed properly?

It seems to be a AMOLED...I turned it on with the lights out and the screen didnt glow before the HTC screen (I read that was the way to check). I do have the drivers installed correctly. I have tried on two different computers too...one is windows 7 and the other is Vista.

Thanks for the help...I tried the everything to the T on the link you sent me...even uninstalled dropbox and still no luck. Says the same thing "firmware too new".
might have an answer...
Hi dude,
I just rooted using the same method, and the first time I got the same messege about new firmware, then on the second attempt, I discovered my mistake... you're supposed to have your phone un-plugged before clicking on the start button, then plug in. Hope it helps, I'm rooted now, Yah!

Yes you don't plug it in till you have the reflash open if you had it plugged in the hole time you will get errors good find I didn't think of that

Thanks guys...I have tried it that way and no change.
it may sound stupid but have you tried rooting without the sd card on the phone...
Well, just the sake of trying it, just uninstall any user app you installed. I was getting the problem, the unrevoked website mentioned the possibility of some apps interfering. I only had 3 installed, but it made a difference.

-Make sure USB debugging is Checked on the phone
-Allow ADB and anything else to connect to internet when Unrevoked is running if you have a firewall installed
-I think HTC Sync should be UNINSTALLED but someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
-And for goodness sakes restart your computer atleast lol just kidding but seriously I hope this helps
Well I finally got the root to take! What finally did it was uninstalling some apps! Thanks again everyone for your help!

i know you have already got it working but i just wanted to add something because i did not see it suggested, by the way glad you got it figured out.
when i first did mine i was having exact same issues, and tried 3 different computers, all with win 7, i was using zonealarm extream security on them, which is a fire wall and virus software, i was dissabling it on all atempts but what i forgot was win7 automatically turns on windows firewall when you dissable a aftermarket one. well i finaly remembered that and turned it off and it work first try.
so just wanted to throw that in for anyone reading this, just one more thing to check if you are having issues.
Hi everyone, just got the epic last night coming from evo 3d....bought the phone used and it seems like it was already rooted as I have superuser on it....I spent the last 2 hours trying to figure this out with no results.....problem is I cant seem to flash anything because when I go into the ODIN menu it says downloading and never gets out of that screen. I have the Kies installed and usb drivers installed but for some reason my phone is not connecting to it....i see MTP driver is not installed and when I do try to install it says that the INF file is invalid. Also there is a yellow triangle when booting phone not sure if that helps to explain the issue....Im on 32 bit XP ....not sure what else I can inform you with to help me....Thanks in advance
When in downloading mode that is what It.is supposed to do. U need to plug it in and run Odin from the computer. Go into the development section and find one of The stock from images from sfhub. The last official release is ek02. Follow the directions in there.
