hello
I have a problem with my desire. sometimes the screen turns on and then off and then on again after I use it. until 3 days ago it didn't do that. my rom then was supernova 2.4.0.1 but i didn't like the way pictures were taken, and now I'm using starburst_1711 because the camera is better and it gives me more space for apps.
can the problem be the rom? or some app I've instaled?

Hi there,
I've got a lovely new HTC Desire HD , its been working fine for about a month, however something really strange is happening with the camera.
When in the defult camera app, the camera focuses nice and clear, pauses for half a second, then the screen goes black with a large phyisical mechanical shutter sound and feeling, then the camera reinitializes, focuses nice and clear... then the loop continues.
This keeps happening, even while trying to take a picture, if I'm not quick, the picture wont capture.
This doesnt seem to be effected by video mode...
Anyone got any ideas?
-Just to clarify, this is not the phone turning off after taking a picture bug. This is one I can't find anyone else mentioning anywhere. The phone is still one, the camera app just goes black and shutter goes clonk every few seconds after focusing.
Hi, this happened to me as well. I isolated the problem with the OC module I'm using. I don't use the Buzz kernel rather go the GScript route and load the module first, then cpoc then noreboot, oshitt then 100-1459 etc... which I have to do everytime I reboot.
I've tested it quite a few times and the phone sometimes hangs when loading the oshitt script. To remedy the situation, whenever the phone just rebooted, I go to the camera app first, test the video for a few seconds then exit out of the program before loading the GScripts...
Not sure if you are using SetCPU and loading scripts but its as close as I could describe to help you out mate!
Thanks for the reply,
I haven't actually changed anything on this phone from stock, its not rooted nor does it have any form of OC or different ROM to the Orange, thats whats so puzzling.
The phone doesnt restart, just the app. I've narrowed it down to notice this ONLY happens when the camera focuses into something, either by tap or autofocus...
In the interim I've installed camera 360 that seems to work ok, which leads me to believe its more of a software problem then a hardware.
Camcorder started working normally but still no luck with the stock camera app
Maybe when 2.3 is released on dhd, this may resolve?

Are you running a task killer?
No task killer running, I used to have one bit realised they were not worth the effort, especially after the usb debugging fix!

I ask because I was having the same issue, and thought it may have been due to the task killer I was using. I think I've found my problem now though... I was using Tasker to control my display brightness, and strangely this caused the camera to exhibit the behaviour you describe. I've modified my Tasker settings to set brightness to Auto when camera is on and this appears to have resolved the problem. So do you have any 3rd party app controlling your screen brightness...?

Thanks for the reply, I've tried playing around, still no luck, I don't think I have any programs that control the brightness. still can't find many other people who have had this issue. If it carries on, I may try to hard reset as I also can't use Google goggles anymore.

So, when i use my camera, my Desire reboots sometimes afters just one taken picture.
It blocks, then reboots.
I tryed mani ROMS, it hapends on stock and unrooted Desire too!
What can I do?
Some of my friend say that i must instal a new driver for my camera, but i dont know how to do that.
Can someone help me? Im desperate..
I've had this same problem. My phone is rooted with stock rom, but I remember having this problem before I rooted. What happens is that when I take a picture the phone reboots and the picture isn't even saved. This is really random, it once happened two times in a week and then it took a month to happen again. I've noticed some things when it happened:
- They where all pictures taken with flash on a really dark place, almost no light in it.
- After reboot, screen is set to its highest brightness. This happens everytime you access the camera but goes back to your setted brightness when you exit the app.
- Last picture taken before reboot is not saved.
In the 4 months I've had my Inspire, this has probably happened 10 times. As I said, its very random. Last time was 2 weeks ago.
Any ideas?
Hey buddy,
Do you ever try other kernel?
Sometimes it is not about ROM, but related to kernel.
Try another one.
Which kernels?
Hey community,
my problem is following:
since some days without any software changes (except playing with the settings) or special physic effects on my phone all three of them, the camera, the notification LED light and the Flash light of the camera, used as torch before, don´t work.
I was using the custom ROM Redux 1.2, did some hours ago a full wipe, now under GingerVillain2.8, there occur same problems.
After hours with google i can only think about a hardwareproblem because the often used Torch in the last three weeks.
If i start the Camera Application, there comes only a blackscreen and after a while, pressing back, the phone says something like "We´re sorry! Activity Camera (in Application Camera) doesn´t respods".
Any help in sight? Greetings, h0rt3xUs
so my suggestion - return to S-on and flash appropriate RUU test your phone with stock rom, if this problem will still present, then sent you phone to HTC repair center
Hi all.
I have p-601 which is rooted and I am using Nova Launcher. It works fine except of some lag from time to time.
I use the S-pen for everything and with all applications.
Recently I started to notice strange bizarre behavior of the screen with the S-Pen when I capture a screen shot with the S-Pen (Screen Write) some pictures specially with the png format. The screen flashes and displays a horizontal lines then the screen turns off. Then I close everything and reboot the tab and try again to screen write and so on.
This happens from time to time not with every screen write.
Any recommendations or advice?
Best Regards.
I'd do a hard reset in recovery if it bothers you that bad. And if you have any mods running try it with out those installed a few times and do some testing to see what is causing the issue. But start fresh, stock and if it still happens its your device. Either return it, if u can't return it sell it, or just deal with it and wait for an update.

Hey guys, having an issue with my camera. The camera loads to a black screen and and it very slow before the viewfinder shows anything. Sometimes 5 seconds or more. Its not always though. Sometimes its boom opened other times it lags. Anyone else see this or have a fix?
Thanks
I have exactly the same problem, though my screen is black for nearly 30 seconds. It could be coincidence but I only noticed the delay after switching to a 64gb SD - not that it should make a difference since the camera records to internal memory. Confused and frustrated

It's your sd. I had same problem when my 64 g SanDisk was near its death .changed to a gskill now no problem.i too set location of record internal.
even after 108 (2nd edition) and a several tries with different microSD cards, my wife's Z1C still has issues with the camera. The only thing that fixes it for a while is clearing the cache for the Camera app.
If its not hanging, black screening, or rebooting - I effing give up. Can Sony ever get it right??

I'm glad 2nd edition 108 fixed your Z1C. Wish it fixed ours....
An update... The new card was corrupted. The replacement works fine, no delays
Hello guys, I have the same problem on a Z3. At first I had a black spot on the camera, and then changed it. The new one worked fine, until it didn't and gave me a black screen. Now both cameras won't work. I hope it's the camera and the motherboard ...
