Can't seem to figure this out. When I use the front facing camera to record a video, and upload it onto the computer. There is no picture, only sound. This only happens with the front facing camera. Any idea on how to fix this? The video plays fine on the phone, but once it's on the computer no picture, just sound.
thanks for any help !

I used to use a tool called G-Spot to work out if I had the right codecs installed, it gives you loads of info about the file.
Careful how you search for it though!

But what is the difference in the front and back camera? Both MP4 files, so I don't know why the front camera videos wont play correctly. But I will try new codecs thank you

Wasn't sure if if this should go in General, Q & A, or Apps..
In any case, I'm wondering if there's any way or any app out there which would allow for recording a video at the same time from both the front facing and rear facing camera?
For example, as a motorsports enthusiast who goes to track days at times on road courses, I think it would be very neat if I were able to attach the phone to the windshield using a suction mount with the rear camera facing the front of the vehicle and have a way to record a video with both the video feed from the rear facing camera (showing the view out the front of the vehicle) as well as from the front facing camera (showing the view out the rear of the vehicle) and have the app do a PiP (picture in picture) of the video. It would be a lot more easy and slick than using two separate camera's/video sources, and then later having to time sync them using some type of video editing software on a pc.
Just a random thought I had and figured I'd throw it out there for information..

Sounds like an extraordinary idea for an app!
don't know if it's possible.
I will try lol
but i don't think theres any app out there who can do it,
Yeah, I've searched around and haven't found an app that does anything like what I describe, but I'd have to think it's gotta be possible to query both of the video signals from each camera at the same time and then put them together and save it to the SD card. I'm certainly not a dev or programmer, but with as versatile as Android is I'd be surprised if it's technically not possible, just maybe no one with the know how has felt there was enough desire/interest for such an app,...yet.
This sounds like a great idea but not to sure our phones could handle the over head needed for that multitask. Maybe one of the newer phones with dual core could but I doubt this one could. Now that I said that someone will prove me wrong
Hi All,
I have Camera Zoom FX on my HOX, but can't seem to find a way of taking pictures while recording HD video, like you can on the standard camera app.
Does anyone know of a way?
Cheers

Probably not possible, it would need to be built into the app to work
They probably wouldn't, as I assume it takes quite a bit of power to be recording video and still have spare resource to take a picture, I know hox does do this, but a lot of other phones simply couldn't, and it would make their app look bad if they put in a feature that didn't work on 90% of the phones out there

I'm using a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 on CM11 with TWRP. I cannot seem to get video recording or playback (although I am not very sure about video playback, I've only received pictures in the past while) to work. With an older version of Snapchat, video recording appears to work but then right before I am about to send the video, a message pops up and says that it cannot play the video. Is this related to "Camcorder does not actually record to storage" in the TeamChopsticks "Known Issues That Will Be Fixed"? If not, is there a way that I can fix this?

I've been having this problem with all jellybean ROMs, including stock.
I'm with ya, most likely a Jellybean problem. So if you absolutely need it, maybe revert to an ICS rom or go to stock.

Okay...so I just got snapchat. Never used that before...LOL. So im guessing when you record the video...it dosent play back, right? Do you get to the part where after you record and it plays back? Or is it when you send....it dosent work at all? I havent sent one yet...but I will test more...but I had a camera problem and combined a lot of peoples ways to make it work. I can record at 1080p, I can watch what i filmed, and my gallery dosent FC and reboot phone. I am on UB4.0final, but that camera had issues so I did some research and tested stuff out and now I have what I have...LOL. Let me know if I was right bout the video play back after you record or is it just sending and I will try to help you guys out best I can

the only fix I've found is to use an older version of snapchat , but you unfortunately lose many of the newer features
You wouldn't happen to have an older version would you

working version
I have had these problems too, I find that the version that works is SnapChat 3.07, lets you use front and rear cam for pics and video with no issues.
I just googled for the APK
Im running CM 11 nightlies. I think it's something to do with video framework. I have similar problems with the Tiny Chat app.
I tried googling but couldn't find it could you pm me a link

I have a weird problem...while I shot video with front camera ...the video flips(mirrors) after saving....I find nothing in settings to correct it?
Any ways to fix it?Also tell you are experiencing this problem or not?
N B-there is an option in settings and I am fully aware of ...but that only flips the mirrored front cam image..that does not correct the video file..
That's not a weird problem, that is normal. Most phones do that.
The video does not flip after you save it , it's the opposite: The video is mirrored when you are looking at the live image while recording. This is made on purpose, and the reason is that our brains are used to see ourselves in the mirror.
See attachment. This flips your videos and photos after saving. Just enable or disable it how you like it.

So how to fix it?
I just can’t believe that the best market front camera does not have flipped photo mode, so disappointed.
The GCam Tool doesnt work :crying:
Is there any solution?
yes, i am disappointed too...
Hello, I am the developer of GCam Tool. I had replied to your Play Store review, with my email address ([email protected]), requesting you to get in touch. Nevermind, let me help you here.
First of all, could you please check your selfie using a third party gallery app like Piktures? Sometimes the gallery inside Google Camera app is slow to refresh thumbnail and so it might show it flipped but the actual selfie might not be.

What do you mean by flipped photo mode? My front camera photos all come out in the proper orientation, where the image matches the perspective of someone who is standing in front of me.
I'm using the gcam mod and it works fine. For selfies not being mirrored that is.
Apptuners you're right in saying Google photos is a little slower to update but it does work

But it is like a mirror reflection of what you see in the camera preview, isn't it? What you are saying is logically the correct way as even the writings on your clothes will be readable. Still I guess some people (myself included) prefer to have the output exactly as you see in the preview.

Thank you. That is great to know.
i hope google will fix this with an option to choose.
i prefer to see the same result as i see in my camera before i shoot
Glad I'm not the only one. It feels weird and unnatural when the picture isn't like in the preview. I know it's the way people see you but still I rather the pic be the same as the preview
what the heck are y'all talking about??

Hold something with writing on it in front of you while doing a selfie. The screen will display the writing backwards. But the pic will show the writing correctly.
I like it the way it is.
Thnk god now they have added a setting to save the selfie just as previewed.
i am facing the same problem, when i open the front camera in potrait mode it doesn't capture what it shows, it flips the image, i wish if there was an option to restrict flipping images...
