How many of you guys are going to start playing this game once it comes out on August 5th?
In my personal opinion, the name is kind of stupid but from watching the video below it looks like is going to be a HUGE hit!!
ugh. the game looks kinda nifty, but man, I can't stand that Chris Chavez guy. and his hair. and his voice.
i skipped ahead like 5 mins, thinking I could get past it/him, just get to some gameplay, but no, the f*cker was still talking talking talking...

I don't know but I'm sure if they want to go head to head with the best like Angry Birds and all the other addicting games, they better come out with either a LITE version or make it free.........but that's just my two cents, hahaha
I'll be rocking this FUC#ER out when it comes out for sure!!!!
It came out today, but for some reason the market link does not exist

It's only available for nvidia tegra devices
Get Chainfire3D from market, instal the driver, and get tegra plugin for it. use the "fix market settings" to get acces to all the tegra games on market, then when you have the game, go to chainfire, and enable the tegra driver for the app that needs it, and you should be runing it just fine.. some OC might be needed for older phones.
since this is in evo4g...should run just fine.
Runs fine on desire Z whit 1.1Ghz OC

I had heard of Chainfire3D, but I hadn't heard much about its stability with the EVO 4g. The EVO wasn't listed amongst the supported devices, and comments from EVO users, although positive, were in the minority. Has anyone heard more about Chainfire3D specifically with this phone?
I have SGS 2.
Has anyone been able to get this game working yet? cant believe how long they are taking to port it to ics!
I am not sure the issue. I purchased my plants vs zombies through amazon market a long time ago and it works on my nexus.
Now that I have actually played it (just installed... only had it for a week or so) it semi locked up on me during tutorial. Is that the typical issue?
I cant get it to run on my AOKP Galaxy Nexus either. Bummer....
doesn't work on Android 4.0
For some reason I don't think that game will get any more support for it past that one update. I bought it from Amazon too, but I've given up.
not working yet for ics and not in the future i think
It's working fine for me, played a few levels just now. First startup froze but after exiting the app and starting it again I got right in.
Amazon FAOTD
Force GPU rendering turned on in Developer options
4.0.4
I had same issue, I contacted support and got this as a response:
Hello from PopCap,
Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback. As Ice Sandwich is a relatively new OS, we have not been able to iron out all the possible bugs that may arise. Let me assure you that we are constantly striving to ensure all our games are bug free and up to the standard that PopCap customers have come to expect. Please keep an eye out for future updates on Android to address these issues. Unfortunately i am unable to give a time-frame as to when the next update will be.
I apologize for any inconvenience caused and again thank you for your feedback.

I was so bummed when i tried to play PvZ and Peggle and saw that they are not optimized for ICS. I could not play these on my OG DROID and was waiting for a new phone to play them.
Like WiredPirate, said forcing GPU setting fix it! well almost. it played a whole level and it froze on the huge wave. Normally im lucky if i can plant one sunflower. so pretty big improvement there.
Yeah. Peggle bonks too. can't wait till they fix it! Love those games!

If you turn it off, it won't even load past the popcap splash screen. With force rendering on, I can play to the end of the first level and it freezes.....
it's not that it doesnt work with ICS, i was running CM9 on my nexus s and it worked fine for about 3 days until my galaxy nexus arrived and now it refuses to even install
it's like it's the device rather than the software which is the limiting factor, maybe it doesn't like the way the software buttons etc are done?
Plants Vs. Zombies was just recently updated in the Amazon Appstore to version 1.1. I can confirm that, while not high-res, it does work flawlessly on the Galaxy Nexus now.
I'm running stock 4.0.2.

I got the update also but it still doesn't officially have Galaxy Nexus support, market says incompatible, and it still won't load past the Popcap splash for me. Anything special you did to get it to work for you?
EDIT: Nevermind, I got it to work by completely uninstalling and redownloading it. You're right, its working perfectly. Thanks.
The latest update is running fine on my GN.
Still works for me on 4.0.4, GPU ON.
Doesnt work for me. All i can get my hands on is 1.3 for desire since thats my old phone used to buy the game

Ok when I bought my nexus, I was aware of the issues regarding the fragmentation of the Android market, which results in compatability of most games, and wasn't expecting to use the device as a gaming unit anyway, as I have an ipod touch, just for gaming. But was out on research this weekend and didn't carry my ipod, and due to the bad weather in England, ended up staying longer, were we was, so I read an article that stated that virtua tennis by Sega, which was previously only exclusive to Sega, was now available for other android devices, so bearing in mind this phone is Google, s own baby, fired android market or play, as it's now called, and you can imagine my surprise when I was met with "app not compatible with your phone ", seriously, what chance do other phones have if the Google phone itself has compatibility issues with some games unbelievable to say the least. So that means, the developers loose out as I cannot purchase the app, and this is were IOS is stronger, on gaming only, otherwise android is better everything else, I wish Google would sort this out.
It's up to the app developer to make updates for in this case ICS and higher resolution. ICS is still fairly young so not all developers have updated or will ever update their apps for new versions.

ICS will slowly work out problems such as this. The problem is that not everything that came before ICS will make the transition. The other problem is that ICS is too new. Aside from the Nexus users, ICS barely exists. Updates are only now rolling out for certain phones.
It's frustrating now, but hopefully in the future things will become better. Google is working hard at this. They've already started releasing better tools to devs.
If the app shows up on Google Play on your phone then it sure should be compatible or it would not be there. Did you change your screen density? That is one thing that will give you an app incompatability issue in the market.
I just got my Galaxy Tab S 8.4 from Amazon and I'm already having issues with it
I play Simpsons Tapped Out and this game ran without any lag on my 2012 Nexus 7. However, when I load up the game on the Galaxy Tab S 8.4, I am having major lag while trying to pan around the town and even while trying to tap the buildings to collect money. I imagine Tapped Out is an incredibly casual and lightweight game(resource wise), so it makes me worried about how 'real' games will perform on the device.
My question is, if I root and debloat the tablet, will this improve performance on the tablet? Or is this the kind of performance that I can expect from the Exynos tablets?
I found this thread, and I was going to follow those instructions to debloat it with titanium backup(I assume I can use that to debloat it). Has anyone tried this and noticed an increase in performance?
Thanks in advance for anyone who can help
As a follow up. I just went through and rooted the tablet, froze all that bloat and it's still performing like garbage in Simpsons Tapped Out. How is this possible that the Exynos chip isn't as good as a 2 year old tablet? Is it the QHD display? Is it TouchWiz that's causing it?
Out of all the reviews I looked at, none talked about this type of lag. This Simpsons game can't be that graphic intensive. Why is it stuttering so badly when I pan around the town?

May just be that that game is confused by the Exynos 8 core cpu. The device clearly has the power to run a simple game like that. In short, I think it may be the game and not the tablet.
One other idea. Try running Nova Launcher. But other users have had the same issue as you with that particular game.

That is really sad to hear. I can't get Family Guy working properly on the tablet and now this Besides watching content when I'm in bed, this is all I use the tablet for. It's making it really hard to format my 2012 Nexus 7 so I can give it to my father.
I'm curious if it's the CPU or the GPU that the game is having an issue with. I have had my eye on this forum lately and am getting excited that the CyanogenMod ROM might be the solution to my issue with these casual games. Positive thoughts :fingers-crossed:
Thanks for your input. I will say that it handles my 1080p content from my Drobo with BS Player flawlessly. So at least there's something

I've loaded up a few games under my current cm ROM and they have all played flawlessly. Though I haven't tried the games you mentioned, and I'm married a month away from having a baby so I'm a bit too broke to buy something I'm not going to play.
Tonight there should be a ROM with sound working if you want to give it a go.

Both Simpsons Tapped Out and Family Guy Quest for Stuff are free to play games.
I have been keeping an eye on your CyanogenMod thread. I have never used it for more than a day on my Nexus 5 before, but I'm excited to try it out on my Tab S 8.4
Clash of clans works great! Try it. It's crazy addicting
I installed Simpsons on my S 8.4, it seems to be running smooth for me. But I only started the game and my city is pretty basic at the moment, maybe performance issues start with a larger city ?

I wouldn't say I have a huge city, I'm only level 17. Nothing like my level 40 city in Family Guy. But I have a dozen or so characters unlocked in Simpsons. I can log out of my account and play as a guest I think to test on a starter city.
well, it wont' connect to the server now :/ but I will test it when I can
There have been reports of issues with this game on the other galaxy tablet forums as well. Since this tablet is fully capable of running even more complex games I would focus on the software as the issue. I'm not sure if these issues have been relayed to the developer but that would a great start to a resolution.

Back to the initial topic: Debloating can eliminate some of the background services that consume processing power. But it would surprise me if this would result in any relevant speedup (on an Octacore).
Other than that, probably the color adaption+enhancement thing does cost some performance (and battery).
And Mali T628 drivers might not be optimized.

It plays perfectly fine on my 2012 Nexus 7. There has been a swarm of lag complaints about it on blogs dedicated to the game. So maybe it's on their end
We now have some excellent rom's in development which should improve your experience.
I just tried the Simpson and couldn't try to replicate the lag problem. Mind runs very smooth.

i loaded a new game and it ran ok until I got about 3 or 4 people on the screen. i see different lag spots. one happens when it first loads people's animations. so even if i scroll away, when i come back it seems to load those animations again. another lag spot i see is when i try to tap on a building to activate the money or finish the person's task. when the money bounces out of the building, i see lag spikes here. they don't go completely away after i collect the money, but shortly after
the family guy from the amazon store plays fine and doesn't have this lag. i also read on some dedicated simpsons tapped out blogs that EA is aware of a lag issue. however, im not entirely sure if i am getting the same lag they are confirming. we will see though.

Yeah I've been checking on here to see if anyone had mentioned anything about it. I'm curious to see what the difference is between the Chinese version of the Shield and the current one.
I'm presuming there will be a TV version of the JD.com app but I'm wondering if there will be any different framework in the ROM so that this app and the Wii/GC games only work on that variant.

according to sources, its gonna be HD remakes of the games and all upscaled to 1080p, and people are speculating that they'll be downloads so ppl might make APK mods and end up being free.

When I say ROM I specifically mean the Nvidia firmware. When Nvidia released shield exclusive games in the past they put certain checks in them and referenced Nvidia graphics libraries to play the games.
Hopefully we will have the same graphics libraries in the firmware but if we have different framework information then I'm guessing that would have to be bypassed in the APK or spoofed/installed on our Shield TV version.
It's too early to say if all this is possible I guess.
has not been talked about here because this is old news. Before the second gen shield tv was released, before the nintendo switch was released, it was stated that nintendo would be porting over a couple of games to the shield and they would not receive a North American release. Most likely part of the nvidia nintendo switch deal. Doubt nintendo does the actual porting though. Also shows how easily wii games could be ported to the switch. Goes to show, the shield tv isn't really meant to be much of a gaming system though, not in nvidias eyes. I say this because nvidia could have partnered with game developers to bring AAA ports and AAA exclusives. Look at all the game developer love the switch has gotten and continues to get, in theory all of those games should run on the shield. Afterall, the switch is a shield tv with an extra gb of ram, but the switch cpu gpu and ram are under clocked and under voltage to allow longer battery life.

its old news that it was supposed to happen. now its actually happening tho id think ppl would at least discuss it was my point in my question. its still big news im sure someone will find a way to spoof the games to run on USA versions of the shield like the guy above mentioned, i agree with everything you said except the part about the AAA games, they already did that and have some thats what geforce now is for.

yeah ik what u meant, i was just making the point about modded apks and such since the games do seem to be something that can be downloaded.
but i agree its too early to say, lets keep hope alive tho
Except they haven't done that. How many AAA games run on the shield? Hardly any, couple out dated games got ported. GeForce now is a joke & doesn't count as AAA titles for the shield since they aren't running on the shield. Any android device can stream games.
It's probably all down to money. I'm guessing they make a lot more from their Geforce Now service than they would porting games.
Shield TV also isn't portable like the Nintendo Switch so doesn't have that niche selling point (it's up against Sony and Microsoft if it pitches itself as a gaming device and it's always going to lose that one) and Nintendo has a fairly big die hard following so game developers are more inclined to make games for the Switch... they will sell.
It's a shame that we probably won't see the Shield reach its potential as a gaming device but to be honest I use it more as an all round media device that can do a lot of things so I'm fairly happy.
Did anybody have any luck with finding the APK files for the Nintendo games? I want to see if the games work with GLTools like Half Life and Portal does.
