Word to the wise, if the rooting process seemed too hard to do do not do it and stay stock, lot less risk of your phone bricking.

What software did you upgrade? You may have to downgrade to root, pay attention to software versions.

Just follow the steps on the wiki like a member said. I had no experience whatsoever but managed to learn a little adb and successfully rooted my phone. Use the rage gfree method. It is simple with the least chance of bricking

The Wiki guide is right here, if you haven't found it yet:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD
Just read up as much as you can before you start, and follow the instruction very carefully, and you will be fine.
The Gingerbread (Android 2.3) OTA that is currenlty being deployed is not currently rootable (and requires downgrading first to root), but you should be okay since you are still on the T-Mobile 2.2 ROM still.

Could someone post the Windows USB Drivers for the Vision?

Will this method work after doing a temp root? It seems a lot easier
As far as the usb drivers go, I used pda.net from the market. If after you install pda.net it still sees your phone as usb mass storage only, then unplug your phone, remove the current driver and plug it back in. It should ask you if you want to set up your new hardware and show it as an android device

NO. And yes. Confused? Here is a link to the method myself and many others have used: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928160
This is an "easy" method using Visionary to temp root ONLY and then G-free for perm root. Do not be tempted to check "perm-root now" on Visionary since there is a high brick risk. Anyhow, this method runs scripts so much less chance for typo errors... just follow the simple directions to the letter and you will be rooted in no time. Works like a dream.
That was easy! hah, this was a lot easier than what the wiki told me to do. Thank you so much
edit:i restored to my back up (phew ), but why does the CM screen keep on repeating after I try installing 7.03?
i rooted everything fine, but after installing CM 7, the boot logo keeps on repeating, and the home screen won't pop up. is there a fix for this? :/
No prob.
Did you do a full wipe before flashing CM7? Even if you did, I'd recommend a "Superwipe". This is a zip you flash from recovery like anything else, and it really gets to everything on your phone's memory. I don't have the direct link but you can download it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991254
It's down the page a bit, in the "attached files". The one on the top called SuperWipeG2+. Also, the ROM on that page is a nice one if you're looking for stuff other than CM. (Though CM is a good place to start)
I didn't do a complete wipe, I just did something else instead. I figured it out before checking this up, but thank you a lot for the help. +Thanks
Hi, I have tried rooting about 20 times (not even kidding), and almost every time it gets stuck on step #7. I have installed drivers from LG and have phone in debugging mode. (I tried doomlord, but it won't recognize my Nitro) Does anyone have any advice to help me root my Nitro?

Try rooting it the way they root the optimus. That's what I did and it worked fine.

problems rooting too!
So this being my first post and all please dont freak. I searched as best I could to find the proper thread to ask this and this seemed like the best option. So here it goes.
I myself tried rooting my phone with Superoneclick and after numerous attempts I failed miserably. So I tried Doomlord's rooting method. I thought I had figured it out because at the end it said "OK!" and it even rebooted my phone but when I tried to DL Titanium backup and busybox it said it could not gain root access. My question is, first would it be safe to attempt the root process again, or if not any ideas on what I might have done wrong and maybe a solution to fix it?
Thanks again
P.S dear Mod if this was the inappropriate place to post this I apologize in advance.
i would download the superuser app and see if tibu finds root
also, there should be no prob running the rooting app again if you choose to, if you are rooted already it should return a *already rooted* message.
So I tried dl superuser and that did nothing. I even did a master reset maybe thinking that I might of changed a setting I want suppose to, and even that didn't work. Like I said I can't get SOC past step 7 and I've tried all the tips I read on here to get past that problem but nothing. Doomlords looks like it worked and it reboots my phone but still nothing. I would really truly appreciate any help!

Apples and oranges. The two programs used to install custom recovery on the Aria utilize exploits in the HBOOT, which is something only HTC devices have.

You have the recent update installed which makes it impossible to root the device. There are still methods to get the device rooted but it is not simple and basically involves this process: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597488
I would urge you to make sure you know what you're doing before attempting this though.
I had the above problem with not being able to root my phone due to the software version i had. I had to use the "unbricking guide" and after some challenges i was able to restore the phone to stock with root. It is risky, but at this moment im not sure theres any other way to do it, unless someone with programming skills can find an alternate method to go back to a previous version of the software without resetting or unbricking the entire phone.
Need some help or a link to instructions on rooting this phone, This is a T-mobile no contract phone, made by ZTE Phone is running Gingerbread 2.3.7 Since this phone is new on the market is their a similar phone I can look at as an example of how to root it?

Okay here is what I have tried so far, Superoneclick gets to step 7 waiting on device and hangs up. Have tried the Zurg rush tool, when it attempts to do an adb remount it fails with a msg operation not permitted. So I'm stuck now, so anyone with some ideas or insight please chime in, thanks
Just another update the UniversalAdroot apk does not work, anyone with any ideas?

Hi
So far, anyone found a way to root the ZTE V768 (Concord) ?
Anyway to upgrade to 3.0?
Thanks
Michel
I too would like to see this rooted. Then maybe I can delete some of those factory installed apps I would never use.
ZTE lists a way to manually upgrade the firmware for a Concord (V768) with a PC running Windows. Maybe it can be used somehow to root this device?
I can't post the link because I'm a new user, but just search for the Concord on the ZTE USA website.

However, I saw there are many methods so I want to know which is the best and the newest method to root my device that I updated to the latest version ICS 4.0.4 (since there is no official Jellybean update on it :crying: ).
Please, if you will give me some links or instructions, please consider I am a newbie in rooting or in the special language you use for doing it.

You can root your phone with the update you have right now, but if you uninstall certain apps you will brick your phone.
To root it use TPSparkyRoot - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439429
This will not help you to install custom ROM's.
If you want Jellybean, you'll have to follow the guide in my signature.
Once you've done that you can install any of the many roms posted here in the Android Development section, anything CM10 based is Jellybean.

First, I don't want to upgrade to jellybean using roms or what you call CM10.
For root, this seems complicated, I'll give it a try later on but are you sure it will work because I saw many warnings and remarks (I'll read them carefully later on, now I'm a little bit busy).
And what about this site I saw before for rooting my LG P930 http://www.androidegis.com/how-to/how-to-root-lg-nitro-hd-with-superoneclick-tool/

Try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2052321
I can't confirm that it works, but there are success stories there.
This is what I meant: you gave me now two different links, so which one to choose?? I want the most convenient rooting method for my case.
For TPSparkyRoot, I couldn't understand anything in these lines:
"**UPDATE** As jchase stated "If your device "bootloops" don't stress, just follow through with the commands as it "loops" ro.kernel.qemu can do funky stuff." I did notice this in my rooting but just assumed it was normal as this is my first use of adb.
**UPDATE2**
If you get a permissions error on the call
adb shell "echo \"ro.kernel.qemu=1\" > /data/local.prop"
then you may try
adb shell rm /data/local.prop
And then try the echo command again. This may be due to having rooted prior without cleaning up properly. Thanks to Franky_402 for this piece of info.
I have updated the batch file to include this step, it should still be fine for those who are not having the issue as well."
+ they said "does not currently work for the latest ICS update released (v9.4.2.11 on 1/18/2012)" but it should with my 4.0.4 right?

I asked someone who told me to follow like you the TPSparkyRoot method on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044645 However, I would have tried to do it even if it is a little bit complicated but the problem is that I don't want to reset everything in it and I don't want to lose any data or thing.
I can only wait and see if there will ever be a root that doesn't require to Factory reset the phone.
Thanks anyway.
Try bin4ry on v20c. TPSparkyRoot is based on an old exploit and works on v18f(4.0.3) only.
Thats just for rooting if you want to install CWM, you mush "unbrick" your phone.

Just rooting, you shouldn't lose your data.... following an unbrick guide on the other hand, you will.
You can backup your text messages and your contacts (even though I believe you can sync them with your google account on ICS and you won't lose them), your pictures/videos/voice recordings are saved on your SD card and can be backed up to a computer before doing anything potentially involving data loss. If you root before attempting the custom recovery install you could use Titanium Backup to backup all your apps and their respective data..

Hey guys... if you have my device that i listed and you are having problems rooting the phone, it was as simple as turning off my stupid Windows Firewall.
The problem I used to have with Bin4ry (selecting option #1) was it would create a backup, but when it came to restore it would never show up.
If you are receiving an error with a path ending in ric that it cant be located, your device will still root.
Mad love to you developers staying up all night to make stuff like this happen .

Google is your friend. That software version fixed the exploit. You need to downgrade, root and then upgrade using one of a couple different methods out there.
You do not need to downgrade just use this One Click root and honestly its impossible to screw up your phone with this method. This will root your phone regardless of what firmware you are on. Link Provided below:

I can confirm that this method works flawlessly on 10r. I also strongly advise staying on stock root, using SkyDragon !.61 kernel with recommended settings in OP if you want things like your camera and LTE to work without big hassles. I also used Titanium to freeze what little bloat/unused apps, and I can report 0 FC's, and at least 24 hour battery. Ihave gotten as much as 64 hours. Good luck! :good:
