Hi there everyone !
Introduction
Been a long time since there's been an update of DarkyROM via XDA.
Well - I'm setting out to change that.
In case people didn't know I'm an admin over on DarkyROM known as "Totallydubbed"
Anyway, I'm sure most of you know me from my ROM flashing videos, but just in case...I thought I would mention that to break the ice - not quite winter, but still.
We are very proud to present DarkyROM Black Edition!
Warnings & Disclaimers:
-This ROM is only for the Samsung Galaxy S (GT-I9000) ONLY -> I can't stress this enough. Please do NOT flash this on another device
-Please respect one another in this thread - any bashing and/or flaming will be directly reported to moderators. Respect to be respected, that's my motto; And please no comparing or asking for comparisons of other ROMs
-If something goes wrong, report it here and/or on DarkyROM, we will try to resolve it, but cannot guarantee it
-We are NOT responsible for you damaging your phone in any way, be it bricking or you literally throwing it at a brick wall, and bricking it.

Installation guide
Before you even think about installing this, please make a backup of your current configuration.
No one is responsible when your data gets destroyed.

0-If you're coming from an older ROM, like Froyo; follow these steps;
Flash a GB ROM via ODIN to get the GB bootloaders
Then follow the guide bellow
1-If you're coming from a Gingerbread (2.3) ROM, follow these steps;
Have your phone rooted with CWM
Make a NANDROID backup & Titanium backup & backup anything you need or find important on a PC
Download the latest CM9 (nightly) - its the one at the top of the list (ensure it's CM9, and NOT CM7) & Download DarkyROM v11
Put both ROMs on your INTERNAL SD card
Enter Recovery by switching off the phone, and holding the 3 button combo (VOL UP + Home + POWER)
Once in recovery, flash the latest CM9 (nightly)
As it's trying to flash, it will get into a bootloop - so re-enter recovery (by either holding: VOL UP + HOME + POWER, until it reboots, OR by pulling the battery, then entering it)
Once back in CWM, re-flash CM9 - however this time it will not bootloop, and fully install
Reboot phone
Once the phone has booted into CM9 (give it a good 5mins to boot) - Re-enter recovery, by holding the power button, which will then give you the option to go straight into recovery via the extended power menu on CM9
In CWM Recovery "wipe data / factory reset" and "wipe cache" and in "advanced" wipe dalvik-cache"
Go to "Mounts and storage" and mount all availaible partitions (like /sdcard) -> Don't worry if you can't mount "emmc", it's just the external sd-card
Flash DarkyROM v11.0 Black Edition
Reboot (give it again 5mins to boot)
Enjoy!
2-If you're coming from any other ICS ROM (or upgrading from DarkyROM v11.0), follow these steps;
(Wiping is optional - ie factory resetting via CWM - but I would personally advise it to avoid problems, but again, it isn't needed nor obligatory)
Go to the CWM Recovery (Press Volume Up + Home + Power when phone is switched off)
and "wipe cache" and "advanced >> wipe dalvik-cache"
Go to "Mounts and storage" and mount all availaible partitions (like /sdcard)
Don't worry if you can't mount "emmc", it's just the external sd-card
Flash DarkyROM v11.0 Black Edition
Reboot
3-If for some reason you want to change modem, after having flashed the ROM:
-Grab Perka's file stash
-Buy the pro if you want too (I have the pro version )
-Open app
-Navigate: samsung -> ICS_CM_Modems -> flash one of the ones you want - I just flashed and tested ZSJPG, and it worked/flashed fine.
-The files are stored in your internal sd card - in "perkafilestash" folder
-Go into CWM and flash the modem.
-Now after reboot, go into settings, and in about phone, your baseband (modem) will now be changed!
Tips & Tricks:
-To take a screenshot press VOL DOWN + Power
-Enabling Wi-fi Direct -> Just enable "Netfilter" in the Semaphore app, and wi-fi direct/tethering will work
-OC'ing and under-clocking -> Use the Semaphore app
-To make the phone seem faster/snappier, make the window & transition animation scales to 0.5x under settings -> Developer Options
-If you have problems with your launcher (like zeam launcher after a TB restore, doubling apps) - then restart the launcher and/or clear data/cache
-If you want some stock apps, check out this thread - here it will flash some stock apps found in the S3 - There will be some things that would have changed (like settings menu etc), to get back to DarkyROM's look, just flash the backup that would have been made (from flashing this), which will be located on your internal SD card -> under the folder "universalflasher" -> I have tested it myself, and it works as intended
-To have FM radio, install Spirit FM -> If it means that much to you, then paying for an app like that, is very much worth it.
-To have additional languages (for the time being), you can install "Swift Key"
-Download link to the DarkyROM v11 Boot Animation - This is a CWM flashable zip, for people that want it back on ICS.
-If you want a lower DPI - Use the Nitrality app to edit the DPI settings - The default DPI is 240, although you can go as low as 182 DPI !

Things that don't work or aren't right:
Hopefully we could try to fix them, especially with your help - but there are no guarantees
-FM Radio -> Near impossible to fix
-CSC Selection window
-Dialler seems to be having issues with some people -> When you use the T9, and click to call a contact, it FCs
-Under "Data usage" in settings, the graph has an odd glow
-Power widget looks a little blurred
-When charging the phone whilst off, the battery doesn't change to green, but stays "loading"
-SD card issue - "space full" -> Explained by Harlekin, here & here

He changed serves, they took it badly, and they left (it was a long time coming)
Long story short, he was on his own (basically) but now his got a new crew - and quite a few people who still respect him (me included)
Let's not make this a discussion thread - but I just thought to clear that up

I always loved the GB roms cuz they were so greeny, and I love your work on ICS but it will be perfect if it was green too

3a) if something wrong happen (because kernels < K9 are a little incompatible with K9) i advice to you to install JM8 or JM9 (rom eclair) with pit512 and re-partition flagged in Odin, then flash official JP5 with pit803 without re-partition always from Odin. At this point, flash SpeedMod > or equal to K9 you prefer (as long as K9) from Odin as PDA. So, wipe data and cache, and proceed as described at point 3)...
4) reboot
5) return in recovery and make a wipe cache/dalvik-cache
6) install zip from sdcard "Ginger_THEME"
7) reboot

Nice rom to play with.
I installed over Docs Jp6. The first time I booted I was stuck at the welcome screen. Seems like the email.apk was faulty.
I installed the email.apk from doc, also I wasn't sure if it was recognizing launcher pro as my only launcher, so I installed the one from doc again, all from recovery.
Next boot works fine. Apart from side scrolling on emails.
This Rom has not wiped any data.

Same problem here. I'm using JPO firmware, still wont boot correctly after wipes of data and cache. The touch keys work and light up, no vibration though - just random vibrations.
Re-flashed and still no luck.

it's not blazing fast but a very pretty ROM.. i think i'll stick to it for a while..
all i can say is OOOOHHHHHH MAAAAAA GAWWWWWD. this ROM is awesome. with this pretty ROM i can look at my phone and be happy. and by the way is the theme already included in the ROM or needs to be flashed separately??? and how do i get those widgets in the screen shots? anything i need to flash extra???

This really looks awesome. Would you consider making a theme for docs JPU? Or porting this rom to JPU? I know this post seems a bit naggy, and I'll probably try out this rom, but docs JPU is just so damn nice in all aspects, I'm a bit hesitant to try out something else... =)
hands down dena is the most awesomest theme master in the world. very happy with the shiny look of icon, drop down menu and all the stuff. enabled the faster ext 4 all lagfix option and quadrant score is above 1400. very decent and fast enough for me

Install for Clockwork
- Download MAGLDR 1.13
- Download and install the FIXED 400mb version of Clockwork recovery made for this version (Must use this one!!) Thanks to Talderon
- Boot into recovery and do a full wipe
- Flash the ROM
- On first boot, log into all of your accounts
- Will be laggy for a little bit while everything is syncing
- Reboot after about 30 minutes from first boot

- If you get robo voice on first call, hang up and next call from then on should be fine. If phone acts weird on first call just reboot and you shouldn't see it anymore.

All you gotta do is slap the rom zip on your sd card and install clockworkmod recovery, I promise its really easy! Once you use clockworkmod recovery you wont want to go back to daf much more efficient and you can do backups. If you need any help installing just send me a PM and I'll hook you up!

Yeah I really like the MT4G software but I've never used the phone for more than a few minutes. Glad to know you like the HD2 better Now you can have both.

Some of us prefer to do specific partitioning per ROM so no space available to data is wasted in a 400mb system partition when you only may have actually needed 291.8mb (this rom) but your choices were 250mb or 400mb.
For those interested in partitioning based on actual rom SIZE and still making the rom clockworks compatible so you can do a backup (and from there do restores etc)....paste the following into your flash.cfg file prior to flashing:
boot ya|boot|ro filesize+2M boot.img
system ya filesize+2M system.img
misc ya 1M
recovery ya|ro 3M
cache ya 3M
userdata ya|asize|hr allsize

What!? Which version did you guys use and can you explain more? Do you have your SD partitioned etc..?
Tried clockworks version...failed!
Can't grasp how to do this after clockworks is flashed and SD is partitioned.
After doing a FULL wipe...
How do I flash the ROM?
If someone can please PM with the step by step instructions on how to flash the ROM to the SD, then I should be ok.

- In Odin use: .tar file as PDA, DO NOT CHECK AUTO REBOOT!! and then flash SpeedMod K13D Kernel
- When finished, Pull out battery from the phone and then pull in battery again
- Go into RECOVERY MODE with 3 BUTTON COMBO
- Install the ROM as usual (install zip from sdcard, select zip then select yes)
- After it has finished, go back and reboot the phone
- Do the first boot (it may take a looong time)

Just coz you cooked directly from stock rom doesn't mean that you didn't have a look ( maybe more than a look) at the Overscroll glow , CRT animation , lockscreen mods that are there. What about those lil credits. They deserve them
But hey, You deserve it too. Nice looking rom!. but the changes are not visible much now i guess. I will have to try it out for checkin it more.
Few questions :
1) why are u having Fugutweaks on?. It's not needed in a 2.3.3 rom. Those 'tweaks' are in fact files from 2.3.3 !!.
2)Where's the JVK Bootloader files ?. I guess it's not there in the flashable zip.
But You need them for GBread to boot and work properly. You haven't mentioned it in the Readme. Do it quickly before someone bugs up their phone.

in the above mentioned instructions you didn't mentioned to install stock JVB.....is it not required ?
this is like all the other rom on the web if you coming from froyo you must install first gingerbread from odin with bootloader if you already come from gingerbread you just need to install a cwm and after install the andromeda rom!!and no the andromeda rom does not come with the stock ginger firmware you must get it on the web, download it first and installit with odin!!
and the rom its a wipe version!!if you come from froyo and install ginger with odin its already implement a wipe!!

no harm no foul. i dont think hostility or malice was the intent. we started working on Andromeda in December and put a lot of time and effort into it. There was an Andromeda rom prior to that, to which we got permission to use the name. with the amount of crossover we have between i9000 and captivate roms, an i9000 andromeda rom could be quite confusing for some, because a lot of captivate users love the i9000 roms and frequently come over here for the latest and greatest roms to have fun with.

Thank you for your continuous interest in my work. I am happy to announce a new updated version of my Samy Deluxe ROM but please do not expect new versions on a daily basis. I release whenever I feel like and there is no masterplan or schedule I follow. As the Clash said, “the future is unwritten”, which means this could be the last Samy Deluxe update, or another step towards my world domination plan. Who knows?
First Samy Deluxe Release based on Android 5.0 Lollipop
This latest release is finally based on Android Lollipop but still fully adheres to my Samy Deluxe principles. No fancy-bull**** tweaks, no super-secret sauce is included, every element is straight to the point. It includes many (read carefully: not all!) Galaxy S6 features and apps, because I strongly believe this is what Samsung should have brought to all of its devices instead of forcing people to upgrade their hardware twice a year whenever Samsung releases a new flagship smartphone.
Since I am not a developer I haven’t been able to fully port all existing Galaxy S6 features. There are things missing which I am not able to fix.
I am also not including detailed instructions on how to flash this onto your Galaxy S4 because most people will not read it. If you were able to successfully flash a prior Samy Deluxe ROM version you will be able to do so again.
I installed the ROM pretty much like everybody else does. I copied the file to the internal disk, rebooted into recovery, went through the AROMA-Installer and kept my fingers crossed afterwards for a while since the very first boot up process takes an endless time.
I encourage everybody to take and modify this in every possible way and I neither don’t mind if you credit it or not, nor can I control what you are doing. Even though I must admit that I have some advanced mind control skills that will probably trick you into keep coming back here on a daily basis.
Or, to make a long story short: Use it!

Do I have to full wipe before installation?
Yes, most probably you will get some errors so a full wipe (can be done via Aroma Installer) is recommended.
Do I have to flash a bootloader or modem?
Please use a Lollipop bootlader and modem if you encounter errors. Which one doesn't matter. Do not ask where to get them or how to flash. This is a development thread. Seak assistance in an appropriate thread - there is plenty of help here at XDA but you want everything directly served to you. Well, sorry but this is a "bring your own beer party"!

After you choose "install zip" it is an option twoard the bottom. Uncheck that.
Also don't go back to 4.3?

I don't know about original 4.3 builds, all I can say is that I switched between 4.3 and 4.4 custom ROMs without a problem, but AGAIN: I don't know about official builds/stock odin packages.

Hello there , Did you use @friedrich420 rom as base mate? and why arent you giving him any credit or something. or your part of hes team? hehe and Sound setting is Fcing when i try to change the volume
I did use the SecSettings.apk that was posted here a couple of days ago. I credited the thread starter. If that was taken from somewhere else I am sorry and will credit as stated in my first post.
Volume works fine here and is no issue so I guess you must have dirty flashed or something.
