Unlock Wildfire? - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Wildfire locked to UK Three, running 2.3.4 on Cyanogenmod 7. How the heck do I unlock this? On the bootloader it says 'S-OFF' at the top, doesn't that mean it's unlocked? I've also been through the bootloader unlock process on the HTC website but that didn't work

S-off means you're bootloader is unlocked so you can install a custom recovery then gain root and flash custom roms etc etc not unlock your network, there is no hack to unlock the network on a wildfire, the only way is with a code. Either from your provider if they'll give it to you, or bought from a website/eBay etc......

Ah well thanks for clearing it up for me :good:

There is something I saw on HBOOT called SIMLOCK... Never tried it before tho... You can go there and see wat is says. Cheers.

[Q] About to root my phone. Need final clarifications.

Hey everyone...I'm finally about to root my phone and I'm pretty excited. But before I do this, I want to learn/fully understand some of the terminology that gets discussed in guides, etc.
The term S-Off and S-On. S-Off pretty much gives you FULL access to everything in the phone, correct? I've seen people say that if you unlock the bootloader, the bootloader is unlocked, but you still have S-On. What I'm wondering is what can you achieve with just having an unlocked bootloader with S-On? People can seem to get root and install/remove applications, but when it comes to flashing ROMs, what happens there? I've read that flashing ROMs can still happen, but some of the optimizations/code/whatever in the ROMs won't be applied because it wouldn't have permission to do them. Am I right?
Just trying to finally figure out why people unlock the bootloader without doing the S-Off function.
if you unlock the bootloader using revolutionary then you'll have a fully unlocked phone(s-off/security-off). if you use the htc Dev site you'll get an unlocked bootloader but it'll stay s-on(security-on) because it keeps things like the partition where radio is and some other stuff locked. you can still install custom ROMs though because it does unlock your system, recovery, and bootloader partitions.
Rockin' the Miui Incredible 2 w/xda premium
here I went and found the stuff I'd read....
Why is my security still on (S-On) after I have unlocked my bootloader?
Your device is shipped with Security on (S-ON) to protect your system software configuration (such as the bootloader, radio, boot, recovery, system and others). After you have unlocked the bootloader, however, you will have lifted the restrictions on boot, recovery and system. This means you can customize boot, recovery and system images on your phone as you desire. You can easily see that you have successfully unlocked the bootloader by looking at the top of the screen when entering the bootloader screen. Security is left on to protect things like the radio, and SIM lock.

Can't find ROM version

Hello guys, my sisters WFS is on build 2.26.707.2, could anyone guide me on how to s-off the WFS? the whole bootloader part i can't understand but recovery i do as i'm using a galaxys2.
The only way to S-off the GSM variant ATM is via XTC-Clip...............For know the only free way to root is by unlocking the bootloader.
To see if your current software is unlockable....Switch on your phone while holding the Vol down key.......this will result in opening the bootloader........if it says LOCKED on the top..........then your bootloader is unlockable
Proceed to step 1 on HTCdev, com

There is no way to S-OFF without an xtc clip regardless of what you're currently running. Fortunately you don't need to S-OFF in order to install custom roms, like csoulr666 said you'll need to visit htcdev.com and follow the instructions there. That will unlock your bootloader, but also invalidate your warranty.
For unlocking only
Try this link for unlocking without voiding warranty.

network locked, can i still get root and custom rom?

Hello,
i want to try this root / unlock all in one tool, but it say: Caution- This unlock bootloader and rooting tutorial hardly not permitted for network locked devices, so don’t ever try this update on your network locked devices.
http://androidflip.com/htc-wildfire...stall-drivers-root-lockunlock-bootloader-app/
my htc wildfire S has a t-mobile logo at boot, but other branding except the navigion select install isnt there. how can i identify if its network locked?
my goal is to install a fast custom rom. maybe i am on the wrong way with the all in one installer and there are other possibilitys.
Thanks for answers.
I don't see why not. Mine is network-locked and I've flashed over fifty ROMs on it
It does void your warranty if you unlock the bootloader and get S-OFF, but you can get it S-ON again and relock the bootloader, so that shouldn't be an issue (though there isn't really a way to S-OFF the WFS without XTC-Clip, meaning you can't do that at home anyways).
oke! thx.
but what means s-off / s-on? i cant find it in glossary.
To you, nothing
I don't think we'll ever get it anyway, so it's basically nothing important. It used to be a dream that we could get our warranties back, flash a new radio or h-boot, network-unlock our phones and resize our system partitions, but now it appears all progress towards that dream has halted.

[Q] HTC Wildfire won't show the SIM unlock code prompt

I'm trying to unlock my HTC Wildfire (BUZZ) A3333, it's on KoolSony HD ROM (based on CM7) by KoolSavas (it's a great ROM thanks KoolSavas) but when I put the foreign SIM card it doesn't show the unlock code prompt? I have already got the code but it won't show the prompt to unlock the phone!
What should I do? I don't want to flash a different ROM like stock and such, it shouldn't be worth the effort!
Please help me out!

It was SIM unlock. Don't worry I had to flash to a Froyo ROM, I used RemPuzzleROM to unlock it, people if you're going to root it then first unlock it on Froyo then go to CM7. CM7 seems to ignore the SIM unlock prompt but if it's on any Froyo ROM (RemPuzzleROM, Stock etc.) then it should unlock successfully but when I entered it, it just did a Hot Restart (went back to bootanimation) but it seemed to unlock :victory:

Need some help unlocking/branding this old phone!

I know this is an old phone but my mother was complain about it so I told her I'd see what I could do, the usual method of unlocking the phone via htcdev does not work, just gives me code is to long error, so I turned to the forums looking for way to unlock and root the phone, all I want to do is install CM 10.1 but since I can't even get it unlocked, and it will not downgrade with RUU is come to ask if anyone here is still alive is there a still working method with active links to I can get the job done?
HTC Wildfire S A510e (Marvel), not 2012 version

Well first I tried unlocking it via HTC dev but it would not take the code, so I came to the forums and seen that first I have to debrand it, so I'm stuck at debranding since the phone will not allow the firmware to be downgraded, which i learnt then that id have to force downgrade h-boot so I can downgrade the firmware, thats where im at, stuck at debranding -.-

You don't require to debrand to unlock IMHO...............go word by word on the instructions on HTCdev.com, Just proceed to the steps since you have an unlockable bootloader
