This bug has been going on since 8107 (at least). For those that don't know, the bug is that the phone will continue to use the data/cellular connection even when you're connected by Wi-Fi.
I have noticed something which may explain the behavior.
I'm with Orange in the UK and they have a website that can only be accessed if you're using the data connection - accelerator.orange.co.uk. It's basically a web app for controlling data compression.
Similarly I have a website that can only be accessed on my wireless network - 192.168.0.1 (my router's GUI).
Now, I've just noticed that if I turn on wifi and try to connect to the orange.accelerator.co.uk site I will get a loading bar for about 15 seconds, after which it will display the correct page. Obviously its using the mobile data connection. The reason must be that the phone considers the wifi connection to have timed out, so its uses the data connection.
This works the other way. Immediately after accessing the orange.accelerator.co.uk page I entered by router's IP address. I got the loading bar for 15 seconds again, eventually getting the router's GUI.
This makes me wonder whether tweaking the timeout setting in internet explorer may provide a temporary fix. I know I have seen a timeout setting somewhere in the registry before, but I can't remember where. Can someone help me out?
Found it myself.
HKEY_CU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Settings
TimeoutInMilliSeconds, value= 120000
There's also a TimerInMilliSeconds, also value 120000. Anyone know what this is?
I was having this problem before, but Tango appears to have fixed this issue. I no longer get the timeouts you described on wifi.

You may not be getting any, but it's not far fetched that someone will get a timeout with WiFi - WiFi may just stop working for a minute there, but you still want the phone to use it.
You can close this thread now, this issue has been fixed and the fix is included in Tango

First let me say i'm sorry that i didn't find information regarding this issue by searching but I cant seem to find information describing the exact problem i'm having.
I have nand unlocked and while i can connect to wimax, i can not load any pages to completion. The browser progress bar moves but will never finish. I'm about ready to do the start over method. I know it worked at some point, but way to many things have changed since i knew it worked. My MAC appears correct when i do the wimax_mtd in terminal emulator. Does anybody have any insight into my particular problem? Thanks for any help...
I am having this same problem on the most recent Fresh. The page loads very quickly but the progress bar never finishes.
This happens only while connected on wimax. FWIW, I'm pulling up to 13mbps downlink.
It's because of the HOSTS file and/or using AdFree, open said program, and switch from use 127.0.0.1 to use BTC IP

Most recent versions of AdFree have removed BTC IP (it was slamming their servers).
You can try 0.0.0.0 for a custom IP and see how that goes.

First, do you use the program "AdFree"?
I tried 0.0.0.0 and still seems to be doing the same thing, but not as frequently. Any other ideas?
I'm having the exact same problem and it's driving me crazy. It will get 80% full and just stop. It stops so long that it kicks the browser back to 3g to complete the page since 4g stalls.

Has anyone came up with any solutions to this problem? I see no reply post in months. I don't have adfree..so I don't know what the problem could be. PLEASE HELP!..The one problem I have not seen touched on this forum
+1 i am also having this issue
Hello, I`m from Poland and I have a little problem with connection using 3G.
When I turn Wi-Fi off and turn 3G on and I start browsing Internet I always see:
Welcome to the CoDeeN HTTP CDN Service!
and more, more text.

Google does not work properly. After clicked "search" button I always see:
You are trying to use a node of the CoDeeN CDN Network. While the Host header is generally optional for HTTP, it is required for CoDeeN. Furthermore, numerical hostnames are not allowed. Please add this header and try again.

Can't see anything else. I have problems with almost every site, I see this text above...
I tested few browsers, always the same.
I even change network from T-Mobile to Orange. Same stuff ;/
I checked APN - they are perfectly good.
Using Wi-Fi there is no problem, everything works just fine.
Using another mobile - works fine.
So there is a problem with my Desire HD.
I have not rooted it! Few months ago, I installed some stuff for proxy, but I uninstalled it quickly.
Best regards. Thanks
refresh, still anything
I`m wondering, if I would erase everything, it will resolved my problem?
Similar thing in UK a while back with Orange.
Only happens on certain models, and was fixed a couple of days later.
It might be worth a full reset, if its the proxy stuff still causing problems.

The strange thing is when I try to see the forum at home - I get huge lags and the forum looks as if they do not connect the CSS styles. In Chrome, Mozilla, Opera is the same.
Switching on the XDA2010 theme doesn't help.
Can be a problem in the Internet provider? How can I fix this?
Might be a problem with our CDN provider. What do you get when you visit this url? http://debug-14.netdna-cdn.com/
Can't open it on home comp.

Sounds like it might be a problem with your computer, firewall/router, or ISP. I can open that page fine. It says "You are hitting the NetDNA New York Datacenter"

I get the same thing at work and phone. At home I'm not getting anything. And earlier (about a couple of weeks ago) forum worked fine.
So strange. I would understand if the forum is not open at all. But it opens, but very slowly and very crooked looks.
Something must have changed within your browser, router, or firewall settings. Since the rest of us are having no problems it has to be something in your computer. Flush your DNS, reboot your router, and check your firewall settings. Also try different browsers and see if you get the same results. You can also try OpenDNS, which will solve the problem if it lies with your ISP.
We've just changed CDN providers last night. OP, let us know if you still have this issue.

It's OK now! Big thanks!!!
The previous issue was being caused by some ISP Dns servers. Often these kinds of issues can be alleviated by switching your DNS to something better

I have gotten good results from Google's DNS servers. 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. We even point to them from my work instead of the ISP's DNS servers.
Level3's DNS servers are ok too, 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.1.
So this has happened to me at home and work but it's not consistent. Some times when I try to connect I get a message on the WiFi connect that says "Network disabled because Internet connection is slow" (see picture). Any idea what criteria is used to determine this, and is there a way to over ride it?
I'm at work right now and I just got kicked out wifi due to too slow lol.. but at home I have not got it yet.. maybe too much people at work using the wifi network. .
I setup my home network to have separated name (SSID) for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz Network.
When I connect to the 2.4Ghz channel, no problem.
At the same distance, like 6 inches away from the router, when I connect to the 5Ghz channel, my 2 Galaxy Note 3 shows the same "network too slow" error and it will drop the connection.
This is one of the many reasons I returned my GSN 3
I also experienced another WiFi error.
At work, I can connect to the WiFi network with the WPA password provided, on my HTC One with no issue whatsoever.
When I tried to connect to the same network using the Note 3, it keeps telling me I have to "sign-in", when I click on the browser to "sign-in" (like those Free WiFi you can get at the hotel), there is no sign in page (because there is none) and brings me right to Google.com.
After that, the connection will last for 30 seconds or so and drop off.
The one I got initially and the replacement, both have the same issue, and I did inform T Mobile before I return them back.
4.3 problem? Samsung's problem? I don't know... All I know is I will wait until they resolve all these before I will reconsider getting this phone.
I spoke to them on same issue. Got new phone and they working on updating the WiFi drivers.

So far yes. Not a 100% sure though because the problem was not consistent. Sometimes it would connect sometime give the message. So, I'll keep you posted if it comes back.
Not trying to say your post isn't serious enough but we all who are having this problem on a consistent basis need to make a thread about this and just not take anything for an answer, but to give people somewhere to complain about this & hopefully bring more attention to this because there is nothing that is fixing this issue. The only thing that will fix this is Samsung or a Dev on a custom ROM hopefully. If you uncheck the options in advanced settings, it just stops the pop up from coming up telling you the connection is to slow & dropping you, after unchecked it dont drop you but while still showing you a full connection it will not do anything data wise, connect to the internet, switch to a different site, no facebook, no twitter, no market etc..... Nothing, you dont get dropped you just cant do anything. I hope my anger dont make anyone think Im arguing with anyone in here and their opinions, we all have this problem and are trying to help eachother, im just poitning out that those who are thinking this is fixing things its not, its just stopping the pop up. I am very frustrated this is happening on a brand new phone i waited this long for and paid as much as i did for. There should be a freaking petition started for this cause its just wrong.
Works fine for me my wifi never disconnects now after unchecking auto network switch and always scanning... Idk what to tell you guys that are still having the issue because I had the same issue when I first got the phone too...
Maybe try forgetting the network then reconnect after unchecking those settings and reboot...

Not all phones are created equal. Samsung needs to change the wifi drivers on the phone or a dev needs to take note 2 drives and add them to a custom rom.

I posted this in a different forum also but figured id post it here to. I just got off the phone with Samsung & they told me its not a major reported problem, wtf, lol? Everyone i know who owns this phone has this problem with it sayin internet connection to slow and booting them off, even with full signal. Im on my 2nd phone now & have the same problem. They tried telling me to go in to the wifi call settings & turn off wifi calling preferred, & i said why? Even though it's checked I have it off. I said seriously? what is that going to do for a wifi signal problem, lol. It's not my wifi calling it's my full wifi signal. I can tell this is going to be a huge problem & im returning my phone, 3rd time now, for a new one today, if i get the same problem, almost positive i will, im sadly going to have to return this phone & just get a refund instead. & that would really suck. Maybe i'll try a black one, but im sure it probably happens on that one to, lol.
I have been having this problem also. Turning off "Auto network switch" in the advanced network settings allows the phone to hold on to the connection, but it is completely unstable. I tested the connection using iPerf and it was all over the place. I can post screenshots when I get home later if it helps anyone. Samsung definitely needs to step in here.

My brand new G3 won't let me save any WiFi network passwords. It also says "failed to connect " for every network and has me 're enter the paraphrase every time.
Even though this happens it will connect to some networks. But in the WiFi status screen where you choose your network, it doesn't show me as connected.
Anyone else having similar issues?

Have you tried to restart the router that might help I'm not having that problem or maybe a factory reset
I have just tried to connect to another network and have the same problem - works fine at my place, but not my parents' place. Problem is definitely phone related not network related.

I have tried that already - tried WPA2 TKIP and AES. Don't really want to lower my security any further.
Fortunately I'm not here very often, and I get 4G data with my 8GB allowance, so can always use mobile data.
Did you remove or freeze any of the LG bloatware? Stuff like Wfd services control the Wi-FI.
I also had this problem and I had to do a factory reset to fix it.
I'm having the same issue. it will connect to the open networks but wont save them. have no problem connecting to wifi that is protected though. I did freeze some apps...not sure which one did it though. probably one of the carrier iq ones if its my luck. i have the tmobile model
Just did a reset. First I did not let Google restore all the passwords and everything was connecting fine. Then I did another reset where I did let Google restore and it had the problem again. It is something to do with how Google is restoring the account.... ****ing LG messed something up

Need Help Still
I have been unable to connect to some Wi-Fi networks. At my work I cannot get the phone to connect to hardly anything on Wi-Fi unless I go to the other side of the building. Then sometimes it does connect and work fine for a while then all of a sudden it starts acting like it's not connected even though it shows connected and I have to reboot the phone or turn off Wi-Fi to access anything. Then after the reboot it won't connect again. It works fine at home and in other parts of my office, but not at my desk. All my other devices (laptops tablets and old phone) were able to connect here just fine. Any Ideas?

Hello,
you must edit /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf with wifi enabled. If you try this with wifi disabled, old (wrong) configuration file is restored from unknown location backup file.
I had a same problem and all passwords in config file was right. I thing that problem was in first network block. There missed SSID and PSK="NONE" while KEY_MGMT=WPA-PSK in this block.
I replace whole config file from /system/etc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf.
Fighter
Ive had a few problems with wifi between different networks at work and when i updated my phone it solved the proble . I thought it was just the updat . When i had to do a hard reset for a different unrelated problem i got the problem back. However, when i went from Dalvik to ART it fixed the problem. Im figuring that something in the updating process sorts the wifi settings out and obviously its not limited to a software update but also includes optimization.
Deleting /data/misc/wifi/ wpa_supplicant.conf and p2p_supplicant.com solved the issue for me. hope this helps.
