I just completed manually rooting my KF after having errors using the latest KFU.
I was able to droid market up and running, so my googleservicesframework apk must be good to go, but I dont have a gmail icon.
I can go into the droid market and "update" gmail, and then open it, works great... but when I hit the home button, there's no gmail icon from the apps list or on the carousel.
Curious thing is that if I install any other Google app, they install correctly, and an icon is placed in the apps list.
I have tried uninstalling gmail and using different googleserviceframework apk's. I have installed the gapps with the latest KFU and manually, neither one gives me the gmail icon to launch it.
So far the only way I can use the gmail app is to go through the droid market, search for it, then click open.
Have you gone into Settings -> Applications -> All Applications -> AppManager and click Clear Data? Also do the same for Launcher.
Nope, but I just gave it a shot and still no icon. I have ICS loaded, the icon shows up in ICS, though, before clearing the data.

My market is not showing my apps its go to a white screen and said (your apps that you downloaded will be here)
I've deleted the market updates ,I also logged out of my Gmail account to see if that would fix but no it doesn't
Anyone know what I should do?
Two things
1st - Clear the data and cache from the market app in settings.
2nd - If that doesn't work, search for the market .apk file on here, drop it on your phones, untick "unknown sources" option and reinstall it.
Good luck
I tried that and still nothing this is BS
I have a Kindle Fire, no root, with Go Launcher EX installed. I have most of the Google apps, such as the framework and gmail, but the Play Store force closes instantly when I open it, and 20110208124835-com.android.settings.apk will not install at all... It says that it's replacing a system app, asks if I want to continue, then says "application not installed."
I want the Swype app, but I have to go into settings and select it as an input method. But the Amazon settings app only allows Kindle Keyboard, I need access to the settings of a normal Android phone/tablet.
I'm using the APK Downloader Chrome Extension to get all of my apps, but the problem is that it goes through my cell phone's ID, so I can only download apks that are compatible with both my phone and tablet.. It'd be nice to have the Google Play Store.
Is there a way to get these two installed without rooting? I've looked around, but no forums explain my situation as far as I could tell.
No root no go.
Received my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition on Friday there and noticed it doesn't have icons in the Apps menu for some preloaded applications like Google Play Books etc. The strange thing is they are installed on the device as you will see in the screenshots. I can open then by going into the Google Play store searching for the app and rather than getting "install" I get an open button which opens up the app and it works perfectly.
I have tried restoring device to factory defaults via the option in the settings menu.
I have tried restoring device using Kies. It downloaded the firmware and installed it on the device.
I have looked repeatedly in the apps menu for the icons and I'm certain they're not there. I have even screenshotted the menu as there is only one page.

Found them hidden in a Google folder.
Thanks!
Since some time I have empty field in my menu. Top left, see picture.
When I tap on it - nothing happens but place is still occupied.
What holds it ?
(Note: apps are in alphabetical order.)
I guess one of updates failed and it is relic.
Once a time SuperSU was called .SuperSU - dotted filename. It was displayed before 'a'.
How to get rid of it ?
FYI:
In the meantime I migrated from 4.3 to 4.4.4 but without data wiping.
I'd try wiping the cache for the launcher app first.
It is google search app.. Simply uninstall google search update and update it again from play store..

Added later:
Funny thing.
After reinstall empty space appeared again.
I can even copy it to main screen, then drop do trash.
Well. Maybe it has something to do with fact that I froze lot of applications, from /system/app too.
Added next day:
Well. Google search downloaded it's update and this fixed problem.

Try Amazon FireTV Utility App, it may work.
Or you can install DU speed booster and uninstall apps that do not show up in the apps list. There are a lot of apps that will show all apps even ones that do not show up in the apps list, but DU speed boosster is a great app with a few good features beside having an app manager.
thanks. ill give them a try.
