Recently Google has released Android 4.1 JB with Google Now feature. Can anyone port it to our device? I have been doing some searching through the 4rum and I can only find GNow for Aosp Roms. Thankz
Not yet. Someone has ported the apk and the voice part doesn't work yet due to jb dependencies. Needs to be recompiled for ics so maybe a few weeks at the least.

I've just tried to install it on my HOX (faux kernel, ARHD7.1), using install procedure and APK from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749045
It installed just fine. Even opens (though no swipe from bottom to activate it (as expected) from widget.
But doesn't really work since it can't hear me - Immediately fails when pressing the mic button.
When going to config -> voice, it crashes.
But the real bummer is that it can't find the network! Well that's unexpected, since Android finds it just fine... Perhaps it uses a different 'channel', only available on JB? But then it wouldn't work on ICS AOSP...
update
Ok... It does find it (the network) just fine when searching using text input.
It only doesn't show the Google Now <badges/boards/panels>. Upon opening it gives a toast about the network. Upon clicking 'update', nothing happens.
So it's only a search replacement (with no voice)
But I want to use it for the Google Now features... I installed 4.1 on my GN and it's amazing I want that on my main HOX!
Looking for this too
My one x has been updated to JB, and i can't find Google Now feature...

Yep same here, thought I was going mad.tried another app and no fix issues, so must be google. Was considering a reinstall off the app but haven't got round too it yet.
What Rom are you using? Google navigation doesn't work on AOSP roms. It's something to do with how information is sent from the GPS to the software. HTC fixed this somehow with sense. But as yet Cyanogen and derivatives haven't. It's what's keeping me using sense based roms for now. :s

The only info ive been able to find has come from this page HERE
Its not just MIUI thats affected, its all AOSP roms. As i said earlier HTC have fixed it with sense, but they arent sharing
Try a sense rom and you'll see what i mean
I cant for the life of me work out which files i need to pull from sense for the fix.
There's a fix mentioned over in the Inspire forums HERE but i couldnt get it to work. It has something to do with "gps.spade.so" at least thats the file thats been mentioned mostly.
Too bad, love my miui rom.. Thanks a lot for respond

I'm on black ice, never seen this before and used to use CM 7.1 and MIUI on my old desire without flaw. perhaps installing an older version of google maps maybe a work around?
I'll try to find older version of google maps.. Thanks..

Found the answer on the CM forums (sorry can't find the link) the problem seems to be related to the AGPS data on the phone. Download GPS test from the market and in settings clear AGPS. Start google nav and everything should be ok...
This worked for me, hopefully the same will apply for you

anyone tried S Voice with the Desire yet?
it installs on ICS so I think it might work
original: http://minus.com/llX3TROSRO4NH
fixed to work on unauthorized devices: http://minus.com/lCWshD37drA9R
Tested it now. Might be best skipping the intro and it fc when trying to change the wake command. Also double tap home didn't work for me either.
Clear data if you have fc on start up. But it does work. Can google search and text etc.

i've used the new one for checking the weather for location, sending text and calling - all seems to work well.
I install S-Voice from the apk from frandroid.com
And it works, open apk, understand french language...
I hope this apk will mature quickly
on HTC desire the installaton crash but, after a reboot, it works
nice one!
I do not have a crash during installation.
I'm on ics 4.0.4 bravo cyanogen mod 9 RC 3.4.U1.
And it works.
Does someone test http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1673354 on HTC Desire ?
Tried the first APK, but it wasn't for me.
Also it's weird to say 'Hi Galaxy' to desire.
I suggest to wait for a year or so, so that developers can stabilize the system
work
The fix S voice apk and Spanish language works well for me.
I have 2 days with him and I am testing it

Hi All
This is my first post so play nice
I've already downloaded the test 0.1.5 app for my HTC One X and for the life of me I can't get it to work. It worked fine on my old XE on ICS but can't get it to work on the OneX.
It will load fine up until I try and watch a video and it just stays at 0% load then just restarts the app. Is there a way around this to either fix it or am I being a complete noob and missed something in the posts. I did look in the other posts but couldn't find anything to help me.
Any help would be great

Check there, there are a bunch of modified apks on various pages. I haven't been able to get it working on mine so far.
You will need to hide root using voodoo root keeper. Only way I could get it to work on my galaxy s2 when I had it.

Ah ok then. My Manager at work told to enter wrong password, turn phone off and on then do right password and it works. But don't know if anyone else has tried it. He is on a Xperia S and got it to work with the test app.
Well, guess all I got to do now is sit back and just waif for Sky to sort themselves out, going to miss the f1 tho.

The new voice assistance added into JB, i was wondering if it was possible to be ripped / spliced with ICS
Exactly like rshift said, there is a version for ICS, but it's not optimized whatsoever. Some but not all cards work, and I'm yet to receive a notification fro doing things outside of the house.
To top it all off, no, the voice input and Text to Speech are still broken because of what they think is a kernel issue, so don't expect anything useful/different from your normal Google Search until we get a Jelly Bean port of our own.
However, if you want to try it for yourself, go ahead and look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747224
The instructions are pretty straightforward, but make sure to create a backup like it says in case something goes wrong.
Google will definitely have to release this for ICS. How many people will even have a phone on 4.1 in the near future.
I just booted up a working version of 4.1 and was super sad to see that Google Now wasn't working yet...But they are working hard to get it going!
Hello there
Whenever I try to download Google Keyboard from the Playstore, I get the dredded "this application is not available for your country" message. I am not rooted so I cannot use Market Unlocker. I'd appreciate it if someone can upload one that is working for the HTC One, and I am on 4.2.2 odexed by the way.
The latest version is: 1.0.1870.703320
Thank you.
EDIT: I found it here: http://apkfreedamn.blogspot.com/2013/06/google-keyboard-101870703320.html
I installed it and opened it and in the setup screen it says "Enable it in settings" but I cannot find it under Keyboard & Language settings. Is it incompatible with the One or something?
I have it but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post it......

It is compatible, just click on "change settings" (or smth like that) in the app the 1st time you open it.
Google keyboard is written in grey and just tap the switch.
Weirdly, now that I have installed your apk I can reinstall it from the playstore with no "not available in your country" problem.

For some reason, I do not have it listed under Language & Input at all. That is weird. Are you running a 4.2.2-based ROM as well?
your sig says you are running arhd 10.2 so you should be rooted, no?
After installing the app, it keeps force closing. Absolutely unusable. I'm using a LG OPTIMUS P500 running AOKP 4.2.2.
plz help

Sorry for posting in the wrong forum. Wasn't getting answers anywhere else so thought I'd give this place a shot since I picked up the link for the apk from here. I'll try elsewhere. Thanks.
I have the exact same problem, but I'm just on the leaked 4.2.2 rom.
After testing out most of the apks that fly around, the newest one at least didn't FC.
But still there is no option to actually enable it in the settings. For testing I installed another keyboard and it showed up directly after the install was finished
(It worked on 4.1.2 without any problems)
And yeay, first post here.

This is the only one that worked for me. I am not sure if it will for you, but it won't hurt to try. I realized I had picked "AOSP Android Keyboard" in AROMA installer on TrickDroid and that was causing issues, and when I removed it and clean installed Google Keyboard it showed up under Language & Input and worked just fine.

You need the newest version of the keyboard. When you log into the playstore with your computer, you'll find the version from june 21. - this version won't FC, but it also won't show up in settings after you start the app. With a google search you should find the newest keyboard.apk (don't remember the url anymore )

This one is the version that doesn't quit after opening, but it won't show up in the settings either :/
I don't understand why this is. On 4.1.2 it worked like a charm. Then I rooted my HTC One and it worked to the point where I first installed ARHD11 - I wasn't happy with it so I wiped everything and installed the stock HTC 4.2.2 Update with TWRP - after that everthing worked but the keyboard. Did a permission repair but that didn't help either

The one I posted works perfectly on 4.2.2. I'm using it right now.

Same here.
I selected AOSP keyboard in the AROMA options during TrickDroid 8.0 install. With that the keyboard does not appear as an option in the Keyboard & Input Method system settings. Updating from the Play store and I don't get an 'Open' option.
After removing that version I either install from Play or install the version linked above - the one linked above FCs on trying to open it. The version from Play opens and starts the configuration wizard, but the first step is to enable the keyboard in the Keyboard & Input Method system settings and again it does not appear there.
