I must say I just got this case in the mail and I absolutely love it it provides more then sufficient protection while not adding as much bolk as the commuter or trident cases. I give this case a 4 out of 5.

I don't have the nexus 5 version, but on my nexus 4 I had the ionic guardian, which was decent basic rugged protection - silicone with hard shell, no port covers, no built in screen protector. $10 and it fit well.
