Hi,
I need to restore the sense rom that I backed up with Clockworkmod GUI. Normally I'd boot into CWMRecovery and select it, but what I have backed up is a folder, not a zip. It has the boot.img inside. How do I restore this without using the GUI (in android)? Do I need to zip the folder up? I can't use the GUI in android because when it tries to download the CWMrecovery the app crashes. So I need to do it when I boot up if possible?
I hope someone can help?
there is no need for zip. you hav to do through recovery
Boot into recovery, select "backup/restore", then "restore", then select your backup. The same way you always would (cwm backups are never zips).
Note: recovery won't restore the boot.img, so you'll need to flash this manually via fastboot. Copy the boot.img from the backup folder to your PC before you start.

Hi All,
Just tried to install the Latest Leedroid ROM (GB) but then the desire hung on the HTC white screen.
I used Clockwork to install the ROM, but before doing so backed up via clockwork.
Now i want to restore that backup, but can't find a way of doing it.
I have been able to get to the recovery screen using 'Flash ROM', however from here when i try installing clockwork via the the zip file it does not work.
I used the option resotre from Nand but no Nandroid folder exists.
Having interrogated the SD Card there is a folder called clockworkrecovery and it does contain a backup folder with files that have a .img extension.
Can someone please help me get back to a working ROM, or explain a way i can use the backup i took to recover my phone.
Thanks in advance.
I have been looking for a simple enough guide to follow (2hrs +) but i have found nothing.

Can you boot to recovery? ie; turn phone off. Hold volume button (-) and press power button? Should boot to recovery. Then you can navigate to select the recovery file.
Yes i can get to recovery, it give me a red triangle with an exclamation mark, at that point i use Flash ROM - recovery-windows.bat to get into recovery, it at that point i am stuck, because none of the options give me the ability to restore from the backup i took via clockwork
First go to Normal recovery (Red Triangle) by maintaining Vol Down + Power
and then press Vol Up + Power
This will bring you to another recovery menu where you can : Reboot , Flash from sd , Wipe Data/factory ,Wipe Cache
THANKS!!!!
Can't believe i spent that long for such a simple task!

Not such a simple task, if you don't know about it.
On a more personal note, I've been reading a lot of issues with LeeDroid ROMs lately. Maybe it is the spring weather. And it concerns updating.
Just a notice...
Be sure to hit Thanks! If it helped.
Hi
I took and backup of my rom to try a new one but wanted to go back to the old one. When I try to restore the backup through ClockWorkMod Recovery, it restores the system but when restoring data and PDU, ClockWorkMod Recovery restarts.
When I get to my desktop, all my icons are there but the apps themselves are missing along with a lot of other stuff.
Any idea why this might be happening and what I can do to restore my backup??
Thanks
I could give you a solution, but whatever happens, its not my fault!! , because maybe CWM recovery did that for a reason.
But anyway...
Take the data.img file from your sdcard(in clockworkMod folder) and extract it (many programs out there that extract .img files, i use 'ext2explore')
Then make a flashable .zip file and flash it (make sure its signed, and has the right folder structure and updater-script code).
I've never dont this, but theoretically it should work.
Or, You could flash it via fastboot.
Place the same data.img in your SDK/tools folder, boot into fastboot & fire up your cmd window
Code:
fastboot flash data data.img
Again the same disclaimer applies, use at your own risk.
I'm having the same problem and I tried to flash data.img,
"fastboot flash userdata data.img" ,
But it said my back was too large.
I'm gonna try the ext2explorer and see if that works.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
@Andyharney post: yea, you could do it that way!, i forgot all about that method
Thanks for your help.
You must be right. There must be something wrong with the backup and that's why it isn't restoring and dont wanna risk breaking anything more.
Again, thanks for helping.
ext2explorer says somthing about the masterblock not being found. Im not sure what to do, just gnna use the titanium backups frm a couple days back
Can some one suggest me where download and how installa the stock rom for wildfire.
Now I use a cynogen 7 and i want go back to original froyo + sense
There are 3 primary ways to do that:
1) If you had taken a Nandroid Backup before installing CM7, Just restore that. (But I am assuming you didn't, hence you are asking this)
2) If you want to retain root and Clockworkmod Recovery, just flash this ROM. Its Stock Froyo + Sense:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877977
The process to install that is as follows:
- Download this attachment and place on your SDCard:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=662193&d=1311319218
- Flash in Clockworkmod 3.x or higher. This will give you temporary Clockworkmod 2.5 (Green Text)
- Then, perform a Data Wipe, and install the ROM Zip file as normal.
3) If you dont want to retain root and Clockworkmod
- Download the Froyo RUU from Shipped ROMs (Froyo WWE 2.22.405.1 EXE) from Shipped ROMs:
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Buzz
- Connect Wildfire to the PC, and simply run it.
Hi, I'm back
Just 2 questions
I downloaded both files
i copied both files on sd then i started rom manager and tapped on first field to
Flask clockwork mod recovery
Then? what i have to do to revert to Clockworkmod 2.5?
i downloaded this file from the link Safe_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Rooted
is it true?

I can't understand what you mean by your first question at all. Clockworkmod Recovery flashed via ROM Manager is temporary. Your original Clockworkmod will remain untouched. So if you are using the option called Flash Clockworkmod Recovery in ROM Manager, then the next step is to select Reboot into Recovery from the ROM Manager App again, then flash the ROM File. In this case, you can discard the update1.zip file, as it has no significance.
As for your second question, mirrors of the EXE RUU can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275680
My first question is simple
on my phone i have rom manager and there is a row named "Flask clockwork mod recovery"
but
i don't know how go back from cynogen to stock rom using clockwork mod recovery
can you help me step by step?
and the stock [with no root] rom for wildfire with froyo is this one?
RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.2 4H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe (This RUU contains HBoot 1.01.0001)
i need only to connect the phone to pc and run the exe?
First, decide what you want to do - Flash the EXE RUU, or Flash the Safe Flash ZIP File. If you decide to flash the Safe ZIP file, you will keep Clockworkmod Recovery, which will allow you to flash stuff later. If you select the EXE RUU, Clockworkmod Recovery will be removed, so you will NOT be able to flash anything, like ROMs, Kernels etc.
Once you have decided, here are the steps:
1) If you decide to install the Safe Flash ZIP File
- Download the Safe Flash ZIP from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877977
Rooted / Unrooted, Its upto you which version you want. Rooted version has Superuser, so you can run apps like Titanium Backup etc. Unrooted doesnt have Superuser, so you cant run root apps.
- Place this file on your SDCard
- Now, open ROM Manager
- Select Flash Clockworkmod Recovery. Then make sure you select 2.5.0.7. NOT a version beginning with 3.x, 4.x or 5.x
- Once it is installed, in ROM Manager, the next option will be 'reboot into recovery'. Select that
- Once you select that, then you will be taken to Clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 (Which has all its options in Green coloured Text). Here, select "Wipe Data / Factory Reset". This step will erase all data on your phone (Not on your SDcard, Just your phone data. This step is essential when changing ROMs)
- Lastly, select "Install Zip from SDCard", and then, select the ZIP file you placed on your card at the beginning of this step. Let it install. Once installed, Select "Reboot System Now", and let the phone reboot. Done
2) If you decide to run the EXE RUU
- Its pretty much 1 step. Connect the phone to your PC and run the EXE File. It will automatically perform the install. If you get an Error 131 - Customer ID Error, you will need to create a Goldcard. There's a guide for that here:
http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/

Flash this zip file in CWM3: (Install Zip from SDCard > Choose Zip from SDCard. (Don't select the "Apply update.zip option)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=662193&d=1311319218
It will give you temporary 2.5.0.7, then you can flash the ROM. (It is temporary, so, everytime you want CWM 2.5.0.7, you will have to flash this Zip file)
Hello,Guys im not able to install GGL Roms....im followed exact steps but still not able to install GGL Rom phone is rebooting and it's just booting into stock 2.2.2 any way to fix it im on 2ndinti
Is your defy with green lens? are you trying this with multi boot? do you have the 5+ version bootmenu and recovery.
GGL roms are based on ginger bread kernel, once restoring the system we need to restore boot/devtree for gb kernel installations, it is to be done through customer recovery restore. You should be able to boot into GGL rom once you do this.
If it is still taking you to stock 2.2.2 means, probably you are trying in multi boot and it will not work the ROMs with different kernels. For you to boot into virtual system, you should go to boot menu and select 2ndboot option.

you have CWM installed right, for you to restore nandroid backup?
If you have this, just go to custom/latest recovery and restore system+data, boot, devtree and recovery from the nandroid of GGL rom, after this youshould be able to boot into GGL, what am I missing here?
This is my Boot Menu imo it's not cwm

The option that you selected is 'Recovery' only right, which I couldnt read it properly, that is CWM mode.
If you go there, you will find number of other options like install from update.zip, install from zip, backup and restore etc.
You should select backup and restore, and then Restore options, system+data by selecting GGL ROM directory after that Advance Restore and then boot&devtree restore.
Before this I assume you have put GGL nandroid directory inside sdcard/clockworkmod/backup.

put the nandroid folder in sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/, if you access your SD card you should find GGLRom folder inside that, and if you further open the GGLRom folder you should see immediately boot.img, devtree.img, system.ext3.tar etc. (You can use any file explorer, preferably root-explorer or total-commander) Once you ensure these things, then you are set to install.
Restart your phone and when BlueLED lights, immediately press Vol-down, this would take you to boot-menu. Since the screenshot tells that you are at 1.0.5 bootmenu version, you should atleast have 5.0.3.1 and up recovery installed. Select 'Recovery' inside boot-menu, this would take you to recovery mode, you can select 'Stable' or 'Custom recovery' anything is Okay. ( incase you installed and use multi-boot, then stable recovery is for your main-rom, and custom/latest recovery is for virtual-rom)
Do factory data/reset, then go to Advanced and wipe Dalvik Cache. Then comeback and select Backup and Restore. Select Restore with the nandroid folder of GGLRom, restore system+data. Go to Advanced Restore, select using nandroid folder of GGLRom, restore boot, devtree and recovery(if there).
Just precautionary, you can wipe cache data/factory reset, and Advanced wipe Dalvik cache. Reboot Now. Wait for few minutes, since dalvik cache is wiped, it may take 3-5min for complete bootup.
Your defy should now start with GGL Rom if all the steps are done correctly. This is the procedure for any nandroid ROM installations.
Thanks For Guiding Me Fixed it
Hi
Would it be possible for me to do the above without having to connect my phone to my laptop every time?
I know I have would have to load the boot.img first from a cmd window whenever i wanted to try a new rom, but was just wondering if I'd have to do that with it already on the internal sd card.
Any help would be appreciated.
Wiggo
Unless the backup you're restoring uses the same boot.img as the one you're using you will need to flash the one from your backup (using fastboot) when you restore it.
Recovery doesn't have permission to write to the boot partition; this means whether you're flashing a ROM or a backup from recovery the boot.img won't be written and you'll have to do it manually.
