[Q] Custome rom for locked bootloader - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys whats the best custom roms for a locked bootloader, i don't mean ICS roms, just what in your opinion on the best and why ie for gaming etc.
also has there ever been a free way to unlock the bootloader, i've heard some stuff about Omnius for Sony Ericsson, is it possible yet?

I'd say NXT v2 from. Think its v2. Might be 1.2 though lol
You on a carrier branded device?

Ah right so you're stuck to the paid unlock.
The NXT rom I mentioned can be flashed with a locked bootloader

I use nxt 1.2 and im not complaining in the least all id like is a list of what i can safely delete off it and im all good. Hell once i got nxt workin i totally forgot about wantin to unlock my bootloader
Xperia Play 2.3.7 NXT

I would use NXT or TrueAncestor, I have used both and they are both great. NXT has a more modern theme, though

What about for us r800x peeps? Ya know, the forgotten cdma users?

I would problem say Darkforest rom. I'm running it and i'm not disappointed. I don't even care about unlocking the bootloader anymore

Does everything work properly? I've read about a lot of roms with something not working. E.g. data, mms, video recording, etc.

Tried that one a few months ago actually. Wasn't bad, except had an issue with my account being swapped for another one on an online game after flashing. Not sure how that happened. After I finally got that fixed with numerous emails to the game developer I flashed my old stock backup.

Actually i think nxt 1.2 is both cdma and gsm at least for me i get to choose which one id rather use or if it should do it automatically
Xperia Play 2.3.7 NXT

I posted on the thread for nxt and they said no go for 800x :-( Guess I get to stay stock until my next phone....
Unless someone can confirm it works for cdma 800x?

The reason this thread isn't full up of roms and deveolpers and topics is two reasons.
1) the phone is pretty new and it's a Sony and from the few devs. I've read about they don't like Sony lol.
2) the bootloader is locked, what that means is ( person with knowledge insert brain mater here) and so most of the things you see on other phones like the Samsung gs2 which has so many roms you won't really see here until the bootloader is unlocked and full access to the phone is avalible.
Is all this information right? I think so its what I've gathered from xda in the threads. This is my second Android phone I just traded my i777 in so I'm not use to each phone being different. I had iPhones before these two and each phones steps to flash a custom iOS was the same basically. So this bootloader stuff and it being really hard to unlock is new to me. So don't take what I've said as the facts. Its just what reading and little knowladge of Android got me.

There are a lot of great dev groups already working on Xperia phones in general.
CM, AOKP will be branched for ion. Sources are only a few weeks old.
Watch the Xperia S, the ION &S are same but screen size.
Patients is a virtue
I have tried to compile stock kernel myself but there are 'BUGs ' in the sources from Sony. Have to work it through

Yeah, and using the US (att) version will probably mean the lose of tethering. Not a big deal probably for some, I never use it BUT I want the option to not use it, lol.
Once .233 is flashed and set, you'll never know if was Chinese firmware.

I've actually been wanting this too. From my research, the best you can find are GBTweaked, ICSTweaked, and DarkForest. I've tried GBTweaked, but have yet to try the others.
Gin2jellybean works also with locked

I want to try gin2jellybean but scared because my flash tool won't flash my phone.

Why a ROM? Why not just flash a theme? If your on Verizon 2.3.3 you can flash one of my theme's. Click the red link in my signature and have a look.

Get GBTweaked and GO Launcher EX, then use the included theme on it. I'm using it, and it runs beautifully. Leraeniesh did a great job with it, and he's constantly improving it. *Cough*It'd be nice to see a version updated for JB*Cough*

This is not a question. It's a statement, about custom ROMs. ust cause the bootloader is locked doesn't mean we can't have ROMs. Obviously they will not be as in depth as we may all like them to be, but, they can DEFINITELY be better than Stock.
Sent from my LT28at using xda premium
I would have thought we might see some stock based roms but guess the devs are playing with other devices. I don't mind as much seeing as how both GB and ICS run great on the ion, don't think I would switch.

New Xperia Play(Broken Again)

Hey, I broke my Xperia R800x again, beyond repair. I am going to get my Galaxy S4 as my Daily Driver next week, but I won't leave the XPlay. I just want to modify fully my Xperia. So, I will buy a new XPlay, but because I will customize my XPlay this time with ROMs and Kernels, I need to know which is better for the job, a R800a/at or a R800i?

R800a can be boot loader unlocked via Sony just like the R800i, both are the same when it comes to development really. R800a has fast boot mode as well just the same, only difference between r800a and r800i is the r800a had hspa+ capabilities (At&t / Tmobile 4g) I have one of every verison made.
The R800AT will need someone to unlock it, because you cannot on Sony's and after wards the development is just the same as R800i. All of the GSM models can use the same kernels and firmware. (I have tried them all)
