[MOD] [JB4.1+][AOSP+OTA] Super PowerMenu | Reboot & Recovery | DIY Instructions Avail
INTRODUCTION
Hi everyone, so a while back I created the Enhanced Power Menu for ICS (right here) and now that Jelly Bean it out it's time to do it all over again.
This mod adds the reboot and reboot to recovery options to the standard power button menu in Android 4.1+ Jelly Bean.
FEATURES
Reboot from Power Menu
Reboot to recovery from Power Menu
[*]Long press Recovery on power menu to reboot to Bootloader! (4.1.1 only)
[*]OR: Long press Reboot on power menu to reboot to Recovery! (4.1.1 only)
SCREENSHOTS
First screenshot: Reboot & Recovery menu with (option) to Long Press Recovery for Bootloader in 4.1.1
Second screenshot: Reboot menu with Long Press Reboot for Recovery in 4.1.1

COMPATIBILITY
There are versions below for both Android 4.1 (the Google I/O dump) and Android 4.1.1 AOSP builds available below.
This will break any mods you've made to either framework-res.apk or android-policy.jar. You can check if these files are touched by other mod by inspecting the files that came with that mod.
If for any reason your ROM or mod are incompatible with the Enhanced Power Menu the likely result is a bootloop. If you're not familiar with adb in recovery then make sure you make a backup in recovery!
REQUESTS
None accepted sorry, there are too many mod variations out their to satisfy them all so I won't even try.

NOTE: There have been a LOT of downloads for this file today (11 July), remember it is for the Google I/O 4.1 ROM only - not the more recent 4.1.1 release. See link in the first post for the 4.1.1 release.
I think the links are broken. All three don't work for me.

Edit: My host and Link 1 is back up.
Mirror 1 is working for me okay.
The attachment was not working for me so I've re-upped it (edit, it's not working). XDA is having issues with attachment today... it'll come back.
Ok Thank You I got it to download now.
Edit: Works good thanks.
The attached zip failed for me (d3rp, just read you knew that already), primary DL flashed fine and works on bigxie's build (assuming that was the deodexed version you were referring to?).
Thanks.
Now if someone would give us the quiet hours feature that would be all I need
=/ im now stuck in the boot animation. Running it on Bigxie ROM

Actually it'll work on any stock ROM, deodexed or otherwise, I should change that text.

You'll have to restore from backup I'm afraid (try a battery pull and cache wipe first though). What changes were in your system partition? GSM I assume?
Please add screen capture button, thank you.

Seriously ?
Not only did he quote himself to a feature request on the last page, but it's also in the OP.
With that said, I'm sure we will be seeing more MOD's and JB ROM's coming within the next few weeks, with JB officially launching and source being dropped..
Thanks man. Works perfectly for me. Again, thanks man.

Do give it a bit of time, it will take longer to boot but not more than 60 seconds. What exact ROM are you using?
djmcnz, thanks!
But can you write manual how to do it with full description of android.policy.jar editing? I'm porting some elements from framework-res.apk of modaco rom, and fully port android.policy.jar. It works, but I can't understand, how it works.
Sweet will flash when I get home the no reboot option is annoying

Feautures v1.5:

Based off ultimate rom
NOTE: U NEED CLOCKWORK TO INSTALL, DOWNLOAD WITH ROM MANAGER FROM MARKET
HOW TO INSTALL:
1. Download the packaged ROM (check above) and put it on your internal sdcard.
2. Download clockworkmod recovery from here. You need Clockworkmod, this won’t work with stock recovery.
3. Rename the clockworkmod recovery file to “update.zip” and put it on your internal sdcard.
4. If you had Voodoo installed prior to installing this ROM (eclair or froyo), make sure you still have the "disable lagfix" folder inside "/sdcard/Voodoo".
5. Shutdown phone, wait for it to power down, then boot the phone into recovery mode (press volume up, keep it pressed, then press home button, keep it pressed, then press power button, keep it pressed until you see the Galaxy S screen. Release all three buttons when you see it).
6. Select “apply sdcard:update.zip” (use volume rocker to move up and down, and home button to select). Clockworkmod recovery will boot now (you may have to do apply update.zip twice for Clockworkmod to show up).
7. Once in Clockworkmod, select “install zip from sdcard” (use volume rocker to move up and down and the back button to select).
8. Select “choose zip from sdcard” and then select the ROM zip package. Choose yes then.
9. The update will start (will take some 5 minutes) and during the flashing you will see some strange big characters on the screen, don’t worry, that’s normal. After the process finishes, you will be dropped back into Clockworkmod recovery. From there, choose go back, and then reboot phone.
11. The first boot will take some time as the ROM will deodex
12. After the phone boots up, shutdown phone again, and then boot into recovery. The phone will boot DIRECTLY into Clockworkmod. From there, select a "advanced ULK features", then "Lagfix options". You can select any of the lagfix schemes. I recommend NO-RFS advanced EXT4.
13. You can also enable some startup tweaks from the "Tweak options" menu.

I love this ROM, it has a VERY fresh feel to it.

Nice work!
Will definitely try this out!
Looks good.
Tell me please what rom is based on?
Voodoo doctor edition
It does look close to it =) And is pretty nice.
Suggestion - you can make a theme template (as it is demonstrated in Docs_kaplik thread) for that rom. It would be probably be more popular that way =)

UPDATED FOR Ir8 DOWNLOAD BELOW
I realise there are a few of these floating around but this one is specifically for MCR and MCR derivatives. This will most likely work with other ROM's but I've not tested it so won't make that promise.
Features
Reboot from Power Menu
Reboot to recovery from Power Menu
Menu options in correct order
Shutdown/Reboot confirmation prompt removed
Auto backlight tweaks included (Paul's level 2)
MCR Ir8 framework optimisations included

Select ONE of these files
MCR Pre-Ir8 MCREnhancedPowerMenu-v1.zip
MCR Ir8 MCREnhancedPowerMenu-Ir8.zip
Note that the first time you reboot your system may "Upgrade" - let that finish and it won't happen again.
This update zip replaces critical system files. A bad flash will result in a phone that does not boot. Please make a nandroid backup first!
Running this since seeing over on MoDaCo, but can also confirm your 'generic' APM worked fine on the MCR as well
Prefer the layout of this APM, though - good job!!
EDIT: You say it's 'Paul's level 2' - is this similar to your 'medium' level? Your level seemed to work better than Paul's but it could just be how I see it

Functionally I don't think there are any differences. At first glance though his options are in a strange order. Edit: and as you note he has multiple backlight options.
Perhaps the only other difference, and I can't confirm, is that I used the MCR framework as a base, not the stock framework. As a result this edition retains any optimisations Paul has made... although he isn't explicit about these.
Essentially I wanted it do it and assure compatibility with MCR. I didn't check first whether other version worked on MCR.
Thanks for this. Would it be possible to have a reboot to bootloader option as well & maybe brightness level 1?

Whilst it is possible I don't think I'll make multiple versions although there is another thread with different versions.
Hopefully Paul will consider building this functionality into the MCR kitchen so we'll have all the options!
Works perfect! Thanks

This caused a bootloop for my Galaxy Nexus LTE.

That doesn't surprise me so much... what ROM were you using?
I didn't even see a CDMA version of MCR...
Edit: first post updated to clarify.
There isn't an LTE version of the MCR
i flashed it in recovery mode, and it has been installed correctly... but when i turn off the phone, there are only the 3 default options (airplane, silent and turn off)... it is possible that the mod doesn't work with the stock rom?...
p.s. i have the stock rom, but i have root and superuser apk
You need to be deodexed to use this, so you'll need a custom ROM
now that I flashed it on the stock rom, but not work, it should not cause damage to the phone?
p.s. there is a way to add those two options in the menu' (on the stock rom with root)?
It shouldn't affect things, and no you can't add it to a stock ROM as you HAVE to be odexed to edit them (I could, of course, be wrong here)

I'm surprised your phone booted if it flashed successfully.
No, you'll need a custom rom (de-odexed as stated above) to do this.
last question:
if i press the 3 physical buttons the phone go in fastboot mod (after i can choose recovery mod)... there is a combination of the physical buttons to go directly in recovery mod?

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE:
Since I had some trouble with the descriptions in the second post, I took the liberty of rewriting it to make it noob-proof for anyone facing similar problems:
1. Unlock bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1598964
2. Install CWM v5 Recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1635520
3. make a NANDROID
4. Get root (same link as 1.)
5. Transfer the rom zip file and the addon file from the second post to your SDCARD
6. Backup whatever you want to.
7. extract the boot.img from the zip file and place it in your fastboot folder, overwrite the CWM one (do this after flashing CWM)
8. Boot into bootloader (by holding volume down while the phone starts)
9. Pick 'fastboot' using the on/off button
10. flash the boot.img form the zip, using the command: fastboot flash boot boot.img
11. Boot into CWM Recovery from bootloader
12. Select Wipe Data/Factory Reset option and scroll down until YES pops, and then press it
13. Go to "install zip from sdcard", then 'choose zip from sdcard"
14. Then navigate to the folder wherever you saved the rom file and press it, then scroll down and press YES.
15. The process will start and you will be notified when it is completed.
16. Go back into fastboot and flash the boot.img again like 9.
17. Go into recovery, go to "install zip from sdcard" and flash the addon file
18. Just Reboot and Enjoy! Options are in the app drawer.
AROMA CALIBRATION GUIDE:
During installation when the Aroma Installer pops up press the Home button.
Using volume buttons go to Calibration
Follow on-screen instructions
After that the TouchScreen will now work!

I just bought a One V and I love it! Well... aside from Sense.
It'll be a while before a cyanogenmod or AOKP build comes out, so keep doing what you're doing! The Virtuous Team on the Sensation boards have tons of experience de-sensing ROMs, maybe check with them for inspiration?

So..its running fine??
Only problem was lockscreen and incoming calls don't work together.
Well since I had my phone configured the way I wanted to; I was hesitant to give it a go. However, after trying to implement the v6 tweaks on an Odexed Rom proved to be a pain on the behind I decided to give non sense a whirl. I must say I rather like it. From the the get go on first start up was really spiffy and after installing the aforementioned tweaks it worked ore to my taste. I tried to Odex the Rom afterwards, but wasn't very successful.

What is King Kang?
King Kang is essentially a hybrid ROM - its a mixture of AOKP, CyanogenMod, and ParanoidAndroid, bringing all their customizations to one rock solid and quick ROM. These numerous features combine to create a blend of features not seen anywhere else before. Make the user interface yours with this ROM. Change the DPI the ROM runs at, tweak the interface to your hearts content, while enjoying great battery life and stability. Never before have these features combined to create a ROM as feature-packed as King Kang. Credits for the features goes directly to the teams responsible - AOKP and CM for their respective work, and ParanoidAndroid for their wonderful DPI on-the-fly modifications. Without these teams, this ROM would not be possible.
This is a merge of AOKP, CM10, and Paranoid Android done by DAGr8. Thanks to him
This is an UNOFFICIAL ROM. If kittens start to raid your house in mass, then I am not responsible (also, take a picture and post it on Reddit for archival purposes)

1. Screenshots are the same basically as Paranoid Android
2. I have no idea, but I've been working the whole day to fix it with no success, and will continue trying. just a heads up that I just found out, camera doesn't work either.

2. Pull a logcat bro, post it here.. I want to see too
3. Put that in the OP please? For other users too
4. Also, put that in the OP, and specify if it's the 4.1.2 or 4.2 Gapps? :good:
5. Sounds good.
Edit: Gave the thread 5 stars and I'll send some 'thanks' your way when I can 'thank' people again!

Screenies will be in the next release (nightly releases)
Logcat is available from someone in the toro thread. Just loads GPU, starts, loads more GPU, quits.
4.1.2 Gapps.
Wooooooooooo!!!
This is exciting! I've always loved ParanoidAndroid except the fact that it was lacking the features of Rom Control!
Definitely going to watch the progression of this, well done on the port sir
Can't get it to boot. Tried wiping and flashing already. I flashed the cid boot animation and it doesn't come up. Stays on black screen.
This is what I'm doing wiping everything > Flashing Rom > Flashing Gapps > Flashing Boot animation.
Been doing battery pulls and trying again but it wont boot for me. :/
Woot woot thanks!

Try putting the bootanimation in the ROM zip. Keep in mind, I will be releasing 15.9.0 later today with a boot animation, you will not need to do this with that release.
Okay, I'll wait it out.

Hey, thanks in advance! Hope you can get this ROM going! Since flashing PA I've been unable to use another ROM so maybe this one will be able to break the spell. And props on including the CM kernel, I feel it's vastly underrated.

That's odd as I have just flashed this and have just got up and running.
I put a boot animation on it. Working fine for me. Try wiping system first.

the hybrid setting have been merged, and it shall be included in the v1 release (SOON). it took some time to add it correctly, since it just wasn't perfect (code issues), it would've worked, but decided not to add it until perfection had been achieved.
we did, and its coming soon...

Always looking for something new to flash thanks i cant wait to try it out
So far so good for me, no FC, smooth, simple, data right out the box, MMS works, overall deff a daily driver , great work to all the devs who contributed to bring this ROM to us

Looks very, very nice..

Sprint Galaxy S3

Hit that "Thanks" Button if I helped you!
Here goes nothing..... flashing away. Will report any issues.
Update dirty flash put this in boot loop (I know better just do it to test).
Clear data clean install and this runs great going to give it a test drive around the city today. I'll update later however so far this is great!
Wow! Definitely wanted a upgrade to 4.3 from 4.1 was using as DD but have to say very impressed. My DD has more customization however this is awesome straight out of the box.
Can't wait to see how it is off WiFi and around the city that even sprint techs say our coverage sucks.
Thanks!
This looks promising indeed.

it has been tested thorougly and has been confirmed stable enough to be a daily driver.
