[DUMP] Rogers I747 System Dump - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi All,
I have a Rogers I747 system Dump uploaded to my drop Box.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/5zbwf3fjpimethj/BfgAAhppni
Enjoy!

Awesome, thanks! I've been looking to go back to my Rogers stock (on dietics now), but couldn't find out how. Can I just flash this or does something need to be done to it first?

Thanks a lot I can'T wait for roms and kernels for my device!

Would this help with Root and not updating the counter?

Do not flash system dump
Hello, everyone.
DO NOT flash the Rogers System Dump, or any system dump for that matter.
It's simply a set of system files from a Rogers unit, which will help developers design a ROM around a Rogers base.
I sent my Rogers system dump to a few developers for this purpose. Hopefully, over the next few days, we'll have a new ROM with all the features of the Rogers ROM, and without the AT&T influence (they have a habit of ruining good features).
If you're looking for a stock Rogers ROM, you'll have to wait.

Do you, or anyone, know if there is a stock.tar rogers firmware floating around? Would be great to provide to the devs here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426 so that we can have a root only solution for Rogers.

P.S. To anyone who knows the answer, what happens if I take an existing custom ROM, for example, the DIET ICS ROM, and overwrite the system files with my Rogers system dump, repack the ZIP file and then flash? Would this work? Would this then become a flashable stock Rogers ROM?
Although I'm quite experienced and familiar with rooting, flashing, etc., this is getting a bit beyond me.

can you post just the modem.. so we can try flashing to at&t and see if we can get the ability to choose 3g/4g /networks thanks.

You're right. I played around with a custom ROM, tried a few tests, and none worked. Fortunately, I did a Nandroid immediately beforehand, so all is well.
I'll wait for a real developer to make a proper ROM.

Anyone want to post steps to do a dump? I've got a Telus model here that's just aching to be helpful to the cause. Although I have already rooted/installed CWM....
I could always just go borrow someone else's for 20 minutes and dump to my SD card though.

To Dump...
go to your command prompt and type
"adb pull /system C:/sgs3/system.img"
C: is your C drive and sgs3 is a folder which you would have to create.
Takes about 15 - 20 minutes and i believe this is a system dump....
I am not sure how to do a modem dump... i guess it would be a folder in there which needs to be pulled.

Rogers Modem
Hello guys,
I followed this guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705650 (credits to: UpInTheAir)
And I extracted my Rogers modem!
Here it is! Rogers SGH-i747M Modem DUMP (I747MVLLE8) :good:
Flashable version! modem_CWM_Rogers_i747M.zip

Is it the modem or the ROM that allows LTE toggle on our Canadian I747M (compared to our AT&T neighbors) ? Based on my experience with modem flashing from Nexus S and i9100M, my download and upload speeds, and latency and overall connection stability were affected.
If this modem is flashable, I want to try using AT&T modem to see if I get better connection stability.

I cannot believe AT&T doesn't offer the option to disable LTE. I guess they are after increased data consumption, but at the expense of customer dissatisfaction due to worse battery life...come on! I guess we really don't have it as bad as we think with Rogers.

[NO LONGER REQUIRED] Testers for dsixda's Android Kitchen (for Sprint GS3)

Hi guys,
I have recently added support for the Galaxy S3 for my Android ROM kitchen, and have confirmed that ROMs can successfully be built and flashed for the GS3 variants for AT&T, T-Mobile and International.
Since I don't have the Sprint device, I was wondering if some of you can confirm it works for the SPH-L710 (and also the C Spire SCH-L710).
Please follow the instructions below to use the kitchen for your GS3. These are T-Mobile instructions but should also work for the Sprint model:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1939420
Would be greatly appreciated!
No one wants to give this a shot? It should definitely work, since the file format of the Sprint S3 custom ROMs are similar to that of the other S3 variants.

Running this right now on a Linux box(Mint 13 Cin.). Will report back. Attempting to do the latest jelly bean leak.
How'd it go? Make sure you have latest version of kitchen.
Ran it and it wouldn't flash on my phone. Attempting to use my windows box just to see if it wasn't something that I did that made it not work.
Same thing happened on my other box. Keeps failing when it says updating cache. Says it expects an arguement of four but is only getting three.

Updating cache? What did you try to do to your rom? Did you start with a stock, unmodified rom? The error about the arguments has to do with the update-binary, but first I need to know what you are doing. Simplest thing to do is to just root it and then flash that.
I am definitely interested in this. I'll try to get it prepped if the gf relinquishes my pc to me =(. Wb dsixda. Saw your kitchen was on hiatus before. Now to cook up some custom roms for myself and friends.

I had the stock deodexed LIH update. It was in zip format. All I did was run it through the kitchen. (Make a working folder and the option 99 to build from working folder). I made no edits whatsoever. I used the interactive mode to build the rom. Both times, it failed on me with the same code. I can upload the update-binary from the one I built if that will help.

No no... that's not the way I intended it. I linked a guide on the first post, please do not ignore the instructions. The kitchen will not work with someone else's zipped ROM - everyone uses their own methods. Start with an untouched stock ROM image and root it, then flash it.

Worked perfectly! Thanks again to Team Codefire for high levels of awesomeness.
Now bring on the roms! lol
Thank you! :highfive:
EDIT: I'm wondering if someone made this flashable, we (bell, rogers) would be able to flash the BASE ROM from the att forum and then flash this since at this time we don't have a rom that's flashable yet..

If it disables LG Security does that mean we can safely uninstall google apps like movies and books?
Im just trying to make sure I have all my ducks in a row here, so I appologize if this is a redundant question. Which recovery are we supposed to use?? In the Sprint development forum there is a tethered version of CMW. Do we use that?? Or, is there something included in the FreeGee exploit? Or even still, do we just use the stock recovery?

Freegee includes CWM. Once it's done you can boot into the bootloader and get to cwm, or use adb and reboot into recovery that way (easier, because we can't see what we're selecting in the bootloader at the moment, vol down twice then power gets you there )
Just so I am clear you arent able to see the fastboot options because of LG's doing right? Not because of the exploit made here? Or was it because of the exploit and that was just an unfortunate side effect of doing it this way that would be fixable in a future update?

I rooted and unlocked without any issues. However, when I enter CMW and attempt to make a nandroid backup of the original Rom it says "Can't mount unlock path". I've never run into this before. Do I need to mount something in the Mounts & Storage?

[Q] AT&T i317 with N7105 ROM and i317 Modem ==> TOTAL HAPPINESS

SOLVED
See post #7 below
Greetings,
My apologies if this question has already been answered in another thread but after searching for several hours and finding nothing I decided to ask:
Is it possible to flash an N7105 Stock ROM into an i317? Will this brick the device?
To preserve AT&T's LTE I am assuming that I should flash the AT&T radio. Will this setup work OK?
Thanks for advance for your help.
I would like a definite answer on this as well. The other threads were too vague with too many different answers. I know it's probably not recommended, but that is what nandroids are for!

Exactly: A definite answer. I have seen a lot of people asking the same question and no clear answer anywhere.
If I flash STOCK ROM N7105XXALJ5 (or similar) in a i317, would the device get bricked? How about LTE? If it doesn't work, does it work after flashing the AT&T modem UCALI6?
And how about the EFS partition? Would it get damaged by flashing an N7105 Stock ROM?
There are other factors besides just a modem that need to be present and enabled for the rom to work.
If your flashing through odin I would be careful, I would flash through recovery and make sure all the mount points are correct first. The device SHOULD(in theory) not brick - since they are in a nut shell *the same*
EFS partition should be fine, your not touching that UNLESS you flash a modem, if you retain the stock modem and do not flash a new one you should not have to worry about your EFS.
Modem's in my opinion are something that should not be flashed again and again. Flash one and leave it, less likely to corrupt the EFS.
You'll need a kernel as well for LTE, i supposed the stock 7105 will work, because the bands of the modem are defined in the modem.bin.
I'm about to flash omega 7.1 on my 317, I've copied over all the needed files, and edited installer NOT to flash a kernel or modem. So It should work with flying colors

Sunccess!!!
Greetings,
Please see the attached screen shots.I have the N7105 ROM running on my i317 (didn't even wipe data!).
To make this long store short I downloaded Samsung-Updates.com-GT-N7105_MM1_1_20121012152856_ah7cer98dy.zip and unpacked it and ran it through the kitchen found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246 to create a new flashable ZIP file (CDW or TWRP, although I only tested it through TWRP.
This ROM is pure stock, none wipe zip aligned and I removed the N7105 modem.bin. Oh, and before I forget I removed all the customizations from SG. If someone wants those APK I can publish them.
I have AT&T LTE speeds with an N7105 ROM. And Multi Window is working too.
If someone wants to test it AT THEIR OWN RISK please PM me. I am going to upload this ROM to my dropbox account and then share it.
If this works OK I will open a new thread in development where I will try to have the latest N7105 converted for our i317 or create a ROM on request.
So to recap: This ROM won't replace your radio and it won't wipe your data. If you want to test it you do it at your own risk. I cannot be held responsible for any issues that happen with your phone or if you brick it.
Guys I've been looking into this also. I had the int. 32gb gt-i9300 until it took a an accidental bath in the washing machine. Then I seen that the i317 carried the same internal components as the int. version but with 2gb of ram and lte support. It was a win win in my book. Noticed dev support isn't as great as int. Version and I got used to having so many options with my s3. If we could use these int. roms on our phones we would definitely have the best of both worlds. I've never used the kitchen as described in an earlier post but with a little help I would be willing to give it a shot. I miss the omega roms and others to boot. I liked having so many options to choose from. Lets get together guys and work this out.

It would be great if you can show more proof that it was actually done in lte since it only shows 4G in the symbol and not 4GLTE (unless its in the rom itself tgat it couldnt display the symbol at all, just guessing)

Yes,you won't have to reinstall your apps and it won't replace your current modem.
When you do the backup of your current ROM remember to include the modem and the EFS partition.

I did this one as I drove by MCI (Kansas City International Airport) yesterday, running the international rom w/ the ATT modem flashed.
I find it fairly interesting if you watch the symbols up there, 3g/H/H+/4g,, with the stock firmware I dont remember seeing much out of it 'but' 4g even though It was nowhere near 4g/lte.

Damn, that's some insane speed. I was in Overland park earlier tonight where it was covered by LTE. Tested on my gf's iphone5 and the down speed was like 2Mb, although up speed was decent at 15Mb... Weird AT&T or crappy iphone i guess.

I have an AT&T Note 2. How do I find out what modem I have. I think I flashed Scott's K7 modem on his AT&T se 1.0 forum but I want to make sure. By the way his rom is awesome. I also flashed Note2Core v2.10 - AsylumCore 2.11 Kernel for Galaxy Note II N7100 / N7105 (LTE) which is running at 1.92. I am getting quadrant scores from 7600 to 8200, FPS 58 to 60. I also have flashed the 23 toggle mod from Scotts forum. I love this phone. It is running very smooth.

Update. I found it.

[How-To] Port Your TW ROM to All Major US Carriers

This guide has already been used twice (and possibly four times) to break xda rules. I will not enable that.
Sorry everyone. Thread closed.
I have flashed ATT TW AND AOSP roms for my Tmobile out of the box and it works. I then change the build.prop with root explorer.
Going to give this a try this weekend. It's a dumb question but could I use this to say port a Sprint ROM to my AT&T phone ? Just a straight port over but just changing the things you list here ?

I can't say for sure, but it should work just fine.
Though I must admit, Sprint is the worst choice you could make for your first port attempt. You could have problems with both libs and kernels.
And I still haven't figured out how to get MMS working on my Sprint port.

I think Verizon would be a good choice.
Is there any way of porting anything from the international i9300 to the AT&T i747 using a similar method as found in the original post?
I understand the processor and radio differences.

There is going to be a lot more than is listed here for that... I doubt its really possible. Kind like you can't easily port a i777 ROM to a skyrocket

It will take much more than what is listed in the OP. I am not sure I have ever seen a ROM ported from Europe to the US (or the other way around).
As you mentioned, the processor and radios are different, but so are the system partitions. Anything is possible, but I think that would be a huge amount of work.
If you try this please be very careful. Many, many users have bricked their devices flashing a ROM from across the pond.

I wasn't going to try it. I had just wanted to get 4.1.2 without the AT&T bloatware and someone else's build that has additional features that I don't need.
Hey all, I was hoping to get some assistance on an issue that myself and stratatak7 have been having. We're trying to port the Intergalactic ROM over to VZW. Following this guide, I was able to get it to boot and everything is functional including calling and texts, but we cannot get any mobile data. We've gone as far as replacing the kernel with a vzw kernel and replacing the modules in Intergalactic with modules from a vzw rom but mobile data refuses to work. I would be grateful for any suggestions because it seems that we are at a loss. Thanks

Just to be safe can you screenshot your APN settings please to make sure they set correctly. Settings>mobile networks>access point names. It should take two screenshots to get it all.

I get an android.phone FC when opening the mobile network menu.

OK, I apologize for having to ask this, but are you sure you followed all the steps correctly? I have to ask because my ROMs are the same version Intergalactic. Also, are you sure you grabbed the files from a VZW BLK3 ROM? Libs are the most important for data.
I have attached the files I use for my VZW port. I would change nothing except the ROM name in the build.prop for now and see how that goes. The eri.xml is compiled, so you can just add the file to framework-res with 7Zip. I started adding the csc files recently, but I don't think they really make a difference.

I saw this post about a phone fc and some other things. But the boot.img didn't work for data which sucks.

All the files were pulled from k3 ROMs yes. I've done the steps correctly to my knowledge, but I'll try again with your files when I get home and get back to you all. Thanks again.

Fantastic news; Using your files worked. I'm up and running with data and everything else seems to be working just fine. Thanks a lot for the help. Now i'm just gonna tinker around and find out where I went wrong.
When I flash a att rom on my t999 do I need to flash a tmo modem or just change the build prop and kernel of choice?

For your own personal use you should be able to get by with just changing your build.prop. Maybe the apn if you run in to any data problems. You should not need to flash a kernel or radio.

Where exactly did you find and download the leaked 4.3 TMO rom?
Was it an ODIN flashable TAR file or a cwm/twrp custom recovery zip file rom?
Either way most likely it's never going to have wifi unless you are a developer.
In order to get the wifi working with some leaked rom you flashed it will take a
lot more than just copying some files into your phone.
I just wonder if your rom came from the "Samsung Galaxy S 4 i9500, i9505, i9505G " forum?
In any case good luck with it!

Its working fine for me if you set the flashable zip file up correctly and are using a proper kernel. The only issue i am having with my 4.3 ROM is the stupid network loosing signal on sleep. I'm 99.9 percent convinced this is due to not having the upgraded radio.

I told you before. You have to use talexop or faux kernel for wifi to work. If you want to switch kernels then flash echoe rom wifi fix.
