Yes, your artificial benchmark results definitely mean one phone is "better" than another. It has nothing to do with touchwiz / sd card / battery size / removeability.
TL;DR you bought a phone for benchmarks?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Let me know when you need to replace the battery or upgrade the memory of your One X. Then we can talk "better."
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201
Apart from the differences in OS settings, installed apps, etc... there's also a key difference in CPU/GPU/Memory architecture.
I just got a 6857 so I don't see any problems (yes I am rooted and debloated). Benchmarks don't make or a break a phone, and in your case both devices are top-notch.
For sure, I was just surprised to see the difference. Does it matter between AT&T and t mobile? Once I unlock and debloat I'll be happy I'm sure.

Benchmarks. lulz
Thought these were pointless about a year ago. People still care about these? What are you trying to do with your phone, navigate a spaceship?!
Use both phones irl situations and then post what phone is better..............
The real question is T-Mobile or AT&T. Will AT&T be more restrictive for cracking open lol research is needed!

You have a One X on T-mobile and your worried about Benchmarks?
I would be more concerned about slow data speeds from that phone instead..:highfive:
My tmobile just barely gets 5000. Sure I was kinda bummed when I saw the score. But shoot this is the fastest lag free phone I have ever used. Even though I overpaid to get this phone contract free its amazing. It was worth every penny. Seriously don't underestimate its power.

Stupidity at its best.. If benchmark apps are all you use, oh well yeah, S3 is horrible for you. I am afraid real life scenarios don't depend on benchmarks though.

Maybe the rumors about the Tmo having a the gimped 8260a chipset are true.

This is 80% of it right here guys. I created a similar thread awhile back about low Quadrant scores on my S3. I couldn't barely even break 4000. If I just let the phone sit for 10 minutes without using it and then did a benchmark results were AMAZING. Heat definitely plays a factor. I did a test and set my phone on my A/C vent for 10 minutes and ran AnTuTu and I was at like 7300.
Relax your phone is fine

If you could get a rezound you wouldn't rather get the nexus? Rezound is using our same Qualcomm S3 MSM8600 chip.
As a phone, the S2 is absolutely fantastic. Does everything I want it to do. As a carrier, I'm still on the fence with t-mobile. Data speeds are plenty fast, but data reception seems to be a mixed bag.
well... when it comes to Reception, that is really the nature of the AWS technology which requires 2 wide bands 1700+2100 for up and down to work
so building penetration is always a compromise

Now that I am on the Galaxy S2, I can tell you that it is by far the best phone that I have ever owned. Even stock, it is absolutely blazing fast. After I put beastmod on it, the thing just flies, and this is before OCing. Keep in mind that ICS is supposed to be able to utilize dual-core technology to it's fullest so when the update comes up (it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when), our phones will be in for a nice tune-up. As for as internet speeds go, I can tell you that it is BLAZING fast. It is faster and more reliable than when I had my G2 (which was just last year).
I can't post pictures but I can tell you that the fastest I have ever gotten with my S2 (in the same service area that I tested my G2 just last year) is 31MBPS. For daily usage, I consistently get 7-14MBPS. I am downloading HD videos off of Youtube in a matter of 5-10 seconds. I am downloading and finishing music downloads as soon as it pops up in my notifications bar. The phone is fast in every way, and everything flows so well together. No lag, no hassle, it just works.
got my phone a few days back from my awesome girlfriend, amazingly fast, battery only lasts a day, from 9 till 6, as i always use data connection, 1850mhz, not much of juice for this 1.5 dual core monster, resolution is a draw back with this nice screen 4.52" i am talking about, only 480*800? meh, waiting for miui roms........ only alpha versions atm, touchwiz looks gay.
speaker is way better than i9000, louder at least! some people say they want metal back cover, i say hey, it is light!!! with this kinda size!
i would give 9 out of 10 for this phone, i wanna buy the sprint version, lol, cdma 2000. not available in china yet, too bad.
What app do I use to test for lines and blobs?

Does anyone remember the Nexus ads for Sprint that said 1.5 ghz and we thought it was a typo? I know it is just alot of speculation. But, since we probably won't see the phone launch until June it could make sense. The article said the processor is capable of 1.8 but would probably be underclocked. Maybe we are seeing an early build for the Sprint version. Anyone else think that makes sense?
Here is a link to the Sprint ad.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/5303/sprint-ad-announces-galaxy-nexus-with-15-ghz-soc
And here is link to the wiki for the Nexus that shows it its currently running 1.2
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galaxy_Nexus
The other possibility is this its the google tablet we keep hearing about. It would make sense for it to have a huge graphics processor.

Until they replace the awful screen of the original GNex, I'll way. The 'mesh' look is too distracting to look at.
Since nobody had mentioned it, it seems like it isn't important, the camera. Compared to the e4gt, its camera is lesser. Slightly bigger screen and higher resolution but reported its like looking through a screen door. A 5mp camera that chokes on 1080p. No option for a sd card. You will be stuck on 3g until lte finally makes it to your area. Okay so it has a slightly better and faster gpu and cpu, IMO, that's one of the few things it has in its favor. Ics, more meh. You'll need more CPU/GPU for that.
For the comment of having a CPU that's faster than you, that means nothing about your computer, right?
Yea just like the 5mp camera on og epic was better than of evo ... it was but guess what everyone thinks 8mp is better but it comes to sensor and such .... it still is a phone not a dslr the camera will never be that good

Not really... if this thing is only marginally faster than the USA version (not Exynos), then the international is probably already better. In that respect, it's safe to assume anyway that Samsung will obviously release a way faster S4 anyway.
Also S3 was released a couple months back meanwhile this was released just recently and processor is only marginally faster? Granted, Apple only made it as fast as it needed to be probably
The table doesn't show the US s3, it shows the international with the quad core exynos

Anyways, cracks me up,I thought the benchmark whores on this site were bad. Man, this guys win one bench and they are going nuts. expected 30millions by the end of quarter 4...their numbers speak for them self
need more storage? won't be able to add micro sd
the main thing that through me off from the hox is built in battery and not sd storage
either then that the hox is a nice unit but I wouldn't trade if it be up to me
I believe you already made the right choice by choosing the s3 in the first place but in the end it's up to you
 There is a reason your friend wants to trade, it's because yours is better.
The removable battery and no external storage are deal breakers for me.. But a distant 3rd deal breaker is resell value.
HTC 1x isn't easy to sell now and will be very hard later.. Not worth it..

I tend to disagree. I just made this trade and am now on the GS3 side of it.
It comes down to preference. I think the HOX was a much more solid device. I won't get into the dual v quad argument now because it's pretty much moot.
The GS3 is the "it" phone for now, but the HOX has a niche that I think makes it just as valuable to the right people. If your motivation is purely liquidity, then stick with your GS3. If you want to try a new experience that could potentially be better for you, I think the HOX is worth a try. I liked it.
Others have said get him to add cash. I would ask for $50 and not take any less. Explain these reasons. It's fair.
Thanks for your thoughts guys. I think I'm gonna stick with my s3. I rather do enjoy this phone and after doing a little research the little things the S3 has over the hox are pretty big to me. Like removable battery and sd cards. The other thing is the S4 chip is pretty amazing ntm I feel i would regret the trade. Also my s3 is red lol

Well I was hesitant of the offer to begin with. Reason I started thread was to hear a wider degree of opinion, and everyone's thoughts were right along with my own. The S3 is a stellar phone. I'm a little sour with at&t atm cause I guess they will be bringing the Exynos version stateside with LTE support but bleh. The S4 seems to be showing these quad core chips a fight.
Honestly. I didn't really know a great deal about the International HOX because I never cared to know till my friend made that offer. Would pique anyone's interest i imagine. All said and done though. I will not part with my S3 unless I find a way to get the Note 2.

Hi all,
My father recently decided to pick up a s2 and doesn't plan on using it for anything other than calling, texting, and calendar reminders. In fact, he WON'T even have a data plan.
He's coming from a dumb phone that'll give him wonderful battery life so this phone's battery life will be a sort of shock.
I'm wondering what are some ways to ease that battery life.
I've come up with
-custom rom& kernel
Underclocking
CPU sleeper
Autobrightness
2G only
Data off
Sync off
Wifi Bluetooth gps off
Any other tips you guys have? Help is much appreciated.

If you want to save a lot more battery, I'd like to suggest SetCPU and just downlock. I doubt your dad would be able to tell an immediate difference between 1.1-1.2 ghz VS. 1.5ghz. Plus, make sure you install CPUspy and BetterBatteryStats to make sure that the phone is actually entering into 'deep sleep' mode.

I have a family plan. My brother's line was up so we upgraded his line (which already has a data plan) to the s2 and we're giving the s2 to my father. My father is simply going to be putting his sim in the s2 (and my brother will be keeping the same mytouch he has at the moment.) And what features are you talking about that he won't take advantage of?? Any phone released In the last 2 years is capable of everything this phone is minus NFC and speed if were talking single core. If anything I would get him a phone of this caliber instead of a crappier android phone that's going to be much harder to deal with. My mother has a cheapo tmo android phone and its hell to use. Crappy touch screen, ect. I think the t989 is a great choice for anyone not looking for all the bells and whistles. Anywho...

But yes i agree with the other user who recommended darkside v8. I recommend STOCK or any TouchWiz ROM. As for the comment "paying for extra features when he wont use them" Well if you already have the s2 which is collecting dust why not put it to use? I wouldnt recommend going out and buying an S2 to not use. But if one already has it then what the heck? lol.
As for data, T-Mobile allows any phone to not have a data plan. Im on the value plan, and if i wished, i could get rid of everything but talking minutes.

Anywho...

What features am I talking about?
Everything having to do with data..(unless your on Wi-Fi)
And do you mind sharing the "bells and whistles" the s3 has that ours doesn't? It is a SLIGHTLY improved version of the s2 that does all the same things..

That went way over your head. He wasn't making a literal comparison. Basically saying "why would you pay more for features you aren't going to use."

No, it didn't. That was a bad analogy. Maybe if he was talking an s3 or something but this phone is pretty basic and to the point when it comes to smartphones. Ive had several smartphones, notably the Tmobile Comet (Running Froyo FYI), LG Mytouch, and the S2. The S2 is FAR from basic. If you every tried those phones, you will know. As far as battery life, try juice defender. Use the extreme profile, will save you a ton of battery life

Why would he even want an S2 in the first place. If he's never going to use it fully? That's like buying the fastest $3500 gaming PC in the world and never using it. Just curious. Not trying to troll or anything.

S3 is not all that better. S2 is nowhere basic if you know how to use it.

For ****'s Sake, can someone just answer his question without telling a full grown man how to spend his money?
I love how infatuated with this phone some of you are. Anyone who says the s3 is a slight improvement over this phone is horribly mistaken. I play with my buddies s3 from time to time.. side by side app loading is much faster, gets more FPS while gaming (dead trigger runs smoother on the s3 despite it pushing almost 3 tines the amount of pixels, the 720p screen is much better, the 2gb of ram really comes in handy (have any of you ever noticed how laggy and stuttery the t989 gets when updating apps from the play store? The s3 is completely smooth while updating) the cameras snapshots have better PQ.. everything about the s3 is better. Of all the handsets I've owned I've never seen such infatuation and naivety in its xda forum section. :-/ makes me hurl.
