I apologize if this has been brought up before, but the data reporting in ICS is almost double what the myverizon app is showing.
Just wondering if the usage shown by Verizon is going to catch up. If not I got a lot more streaming I can do

do you have a task killer installed, if so then you may be killing the myverizon tracker their for its not collecting all data
You need to set the data usage to match your billing cycle dates than it should match. I have found that it needs set manually.
Please hit the thanks button if I helped.
Don't know about VZ, but comparing Tmo's website and ICS's data meter, they're almost identical (ICS was a few MB ahead)
The 'Total Data Usage' meter appears to be relatively consistent with my operators readings (Sunrise/Switzerland).
On the other hand, the 'per app' reading appears to be completely off the wall. (See this thread.)

Measured by your phone. Your carrier's data usage accounting may differ.
My carrier (Unitel, Laos) is reporting me using just over double the data ICS is reporting.
I'm on O2 in the UK and the ICS data is about 85 mb behind the networks calculation ?
Two days ago I was pushing 2GB and now suddenly I have only used 608 MB? How can that be explained?
Has anyone seen their usage suddenly go down for no reason?
I'm in the middle of the billing cycle. I've done nothing to the phone.
Now I've lost all faith in the data usage meter.

You remember to move the slider to correct date? It doesnt do this by default so it looks like your data usage dropped everytime you go to the data usage section.
Yes, it doesn't matter where the sliders are set, I get the same result.
It appears to have forgotten about one week's worth of data, my first week. I got the phone on the sixth and now it is showing zero data used until the 12th.
My usage cycle is set for 27th-26th, so it doesn't make any sense to me that it would suddenly forget about six days of data.
It's forgotten about the data used on the wifi side before the 12th as well.
Any ideas?

For me the "data usage" on the phone was reporting slightly higher than VZW, but imo that's better than slightly lower!

There is no way to set it manually! If I am wrong please correct me.

Yes I have experienced the same! I was around 3GB, my phone went completely dead on a Sat night, when I plugged it up in the car and tried to boot it back up it apparently didn't have the juice to boot all the way. I let it charge for a while, booted it, all my SMS tones had been reset and so was my "data usage"!! Sucks!
Well, I have let the battery run down until the phone turned itself off several times, but I hope this is not causing this problem. That would be a pretty significant bug!
Hi, I'm trying to create a widget/progress bar to show weekly cellular data usage. The built-in fields can give me my Monthly data usage just fine, by using #NTMTHM29# which resets on the 29th of each month. However, I'm going to be moving to a weekly data plan and I'd like to know how I could monitor my weekly data usage. I can see that there is an option to display "Cellular data usage current week" which I assume will reset every Monday, but if my data plan starts say, on a Thursday, how could I cover this?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
OK, I've managed to suss this out. As usual it's quite simple
For anyone who's interested, this is what I've done.....
7 rich text modules (one for each day of the week)
Let's say your weekly data allowance starts every Thursday....
Your 'Thursday' module would be:
$#DE#=Thu?#NTMTH1#$
This is saying "If today is Thursday, show me today's cellular data usage."
Your 'Friday' module would be:
$#DE#=Fri?#NTMTH2#$
Which says "If today is Friday, then show me the last 2 days' worth of data usage."
and so on, until you get to Wednesday which will show the last 7 days. Then the whole process starts again on Thursday and the data usage starts again.
There will only ever be one module that displays, as only one has met its' condition (i.e. the day of the week), all the others will show nothing. Works perfectly.
Dead easy to put into a progress bar too for a visual indicator.
I'd like to put an indicator of some sort to show me the current month's data usage on my mobile network and found a variable that could retrieve this number: #NTMTHM6# where 6 is the first day of the month in the cycle. However, the 26 mb it reports is significantly off the 360 mb Android reports (which I confirmed with my cellular provider and is accurate).
Of course, I did my research on these forums and learned that if you clear your cache this number is reset to 0 so I can only assume this is why I have such a large discrepancy. I don't remember if I did clear the cache but 26 mb sounds real low and could be only one day's usage.
Where does Zooper get this usage number? It looks like it could be pulled out of the OS since Android reports it so couldn't Zooper just fetch this number? Is there any way to set the correct value or will I have to wait till the next cycle to get accurate readings?
-->Update: using "network connections app" today I found "skmsagentservice" , on three occasions in the list, used so far a gigabyte each ( just within hours today). Any thoughts as to what thats about, how to stop, virus/hacked?
I have an S7 active that is using about 230GB per month in background processes. Theres not much on the phone, just twrp, and a few apps. Apps only used 500 Mb during each of the months. I tried malwarebytes, comes up clean.
Anyone know what could cause this, or how to stop it?
I have not hard reset because I do not want the phone to update the os im using now which is currently 7.0 Feb1, 2017 sec patch. All auto updates turned off, system update off, android auto updates off.
Is there an app that will say exactly what background process is sucking up so much data, and what it is doing?
Android 7 Feb 1, 2017 Sec Patch
-->data usage --> wifi data usage --> at the top "android os" --> foreground= 64kb, background = 230 GB (not kb, not mb)
[UPDATE]
Contacted Samsung Support - the app is related to Knox in some way, and the spike in usage happens to coincide with the latest software update. I still don't understand the high foreground data usage, but will monitor.
I have a 1GB data plan and never bothered to enable a relevant data usage alert because I never go over that.
This morning, however, I got a system notification to let me know I'd used 2GB of data (default setting I think). Well that's peculiar, I thought to myself.
Without exception the app with the highest mobile data usage is TuneIn Radio (650 MB for August) because I listen use it every day on my commute to and from work. But now I have a very close runner up, "Android OS" (581 MB for August: 568 MB foreground, 12.69 MB background).
That doesn't tell me much, and when I go one level deeper the app in question is actually Filter Provider V4.0.18. Now, not only do I have no idea what that is or what it does, but for previous months it never exceeds 30 MB. And more oddly, background usage is always higher than foreground.
I've attached two screenshots, one from August and one from July and shows the huge difference
Hoping one of the very smart people on XDA can enlighten me
