Sup XDA -
Long time lurker here, first time poster..I tried searching for this question on xda, google, and also searched through the 'similar threads we found' box that opened while creating this thread, but to no avail, found no answer regarding this.
I just recently installed CyanogenMod9 alpha6 on my Epic 4G Touch, and I love it..Only problem is I'm unable to lower or raise the volume on videos. The phone shows the volume is being raised, lowered, and muted, but it never actually raises, lowers, or mutes the sound.
Has anybody else ever had this issue? And if so, what did you do to fix it?
Thanks XDA
Just tested with videos i recorded as well as netflix. No problems there. Tried clearing cache etc?
I could try that..clearing the cache through CWM won't mess up the installed ROM, correct? (im newer to the whole custom ROM scene)

I installed the latest Sprint Lovers ROM, and now my bluetooth headset won't connect. I'm able to turn bluetooth to the ON position, but when scanning for devices, it doesn't find my device. Any suggestions?
Another problem: the time stamp in SMS messages is garbled up. Instead of showing the date and time of the SMS, its shows a series of random letters and numbers.
So, yeah - I'm wondering if this has been asked and answered yet. I've searched the Dev & QA threads and nothing jumped out at me.
I would wipe your dalvik and system cache in recovery and reboot. If this doesn't fix it reinstall the rom. I run sprint lovers and have never seen any of these problems you list.

Good point. I wiped dalvik and system cache, problem still there. Before I reinstall the ROM, I thought I'd ask a quick follow up question.
When I updated sprint lovers (my first version was first installed early december) to the current version (did that couple days ago) I used the "all-in-one" method. I'd like to avoid having to set up all my widgets again - so I wonder if I can do the "component" method - i.e. don't do the all in one PC361IMG method. What are your thoughts?
I run SL and that's the way I install it all the time. Using clockwork recovery, select install from zip using the stand alone file. You should be able to flash this right on top of your current Rom. Just an fyi, I do wipe cache and Davlik sometimes

Hey guys,
I don't know that I've ever used anything from the XDA forum before unless it was passed and linked on Android Central or SDX. I've been rooting and toying with crap (not developing, just following smart people's instructions and borrowing their hard work on my own devices) since I got started out with my Samsung Moment.
I'm onto an epic 4g now, and decided that I needed to play with a new rom/kernal. I had it rooted with one click root/recovery before. So I flashed to stock, updated to EC05 and got to town flashing Syndicate Frozen Version 1.1.0 - with Twilight Zone. I didn't see a single post other than praise so it got my vote.
I'm having a problem though. And I've tried all of the usual fixes. Reflashing, rebooting, etc. etc. And I cannot figure out what is causing this highly annoying FC. Force close on Google Services Framework process.com.google.process.gapps
Anyone have that, or have the solution to what keeps causing this?
i believe you need to wipe googles data, go to manage apps in settings, clear data on all google apps you have. see if that works!
Well, at this time it appears that, that may have been a very stupid question. I guess after wiping data, clearing cache's, etc. that never occured to me. we'll see how this goes now.
No, it's not a stupid question, also don't be shy in posting these type of questions in the specific roms devolopment thread, there are a ton of nice people that are willing to help and have a lot more knowledge than me!

A lot of times, a simple 1) boot into CWM 2)wipe data, cache and dalvik cache 2x each 3) reflash rom 4) reboot will do the trick.

I actually clear the cache/dalvik cache/ etc when flashing so I never thought of anything else needing to be cleared. Techargon hit it right on the head though. For whatever reason the google framework data had to be cleared, and it has worked perfect ever since. I'll definitely be sticking around here. This is quite a large community and I'm about 24 hours into absolutely loving my first ROM and Kernal from her.
Thanks guys!

Hi Guys,
First post on XDA-DEV and I unfortunately can't post in the developer page for this phone.
I recently flashed the ICS Perfection II 04.15.12 and my phone freezes when powering off. Not a huge deal but I would like to remedy the issue.
I have wiped the phone and all the cache and fixed the permissions after the flash.
The page for the ROM does not address this issue and I have searched for the issue on the phone forums with no avail.
Anyone have any ideas? Anyone dealt with this issue before?
1) Honestly I don't understand how if you watched this video, you didn't learn that if you use the search function, you will find answers to all your questions. *facepalm*
2) Never, never, never post in a question in the developer section. Only start a new thread only if you are a developer, hence the "Developer" section.
3)Its a known bug for the skyrocket leak ports, some other ROMs have addressed this issue while others...well they haven't. Quickboot (I think is the name of the app) will do the trick.
4) Hit the thanks button

This is what i did to fix the rebbot issue. Go into recovery make a nandroid backup, right after the backup is done, flash it. Don't wipe or clear anything just flash it and it should fix it. It worked for me so it might work for you.
the new ucld2 based roms have all resolved this issue (embryo 2.0, new nexus mod beta, sky pics 4.2D-6)
I was wondering if anyone could help me out please. I've tried searching the forums, but I haven't been able to find my exact issue. Basically, I feel as if my phone seems to have increasing issues with flashing through Clockwork Recovery; here's the details:
I originally rooted my phone using the Odin flash method. I flashed the Juggernaut available at the time, wiping data/factory, cache, dalvik, and battery stats through clockwork first, and letting it chill for 15 minutes with the first boot. I follow the same steps each time I flash another rom ( I've read that I should also wipe /system, but Juggernaut seems to do that itself, so I haven't ). A month and a half ago, I wanted to add a few things, so I wiped, then flashed the latest Juggernaut, rebooted, let it settle, and then flashed the ICS Ultimate Theme, no wipe, then after another settle, flashed the Pdroid zip ( no wipe ) I made with the v1.27 auto-patcher. Everything seemed to work flawlessly for a month or so, then I started having issues that just kept getting worse: phone freezing while installing market apps then unfreezing, camera lagging, random freeze & reboots, etc. I tried fix permissions, and no luck. I wiped and tried reflashing everything the way I had, and the phone kept freezing after the faux kernel loading screen. Installing Juggernaut or another rom by itself, or a nandroid restore, is the only thing that got it past boot. Not even themes flashed over roms that they're made for get past boot. I restored my phone to stock using this method, wiped both SD cards, and re-rooted then flashed Juggernaut again, but this time I used clockwork's wipes and darkside's super wipe before flashing, but I still can't flash anything but the rom itself without a boot loop, even with fix permissions. I had a similar issue on my old mytouch Espresso; consecutive flashes seemed to almost eat away at my phone and make things worse, but that phone also had hardware issues. I'm using a new MicroSD since then. Also, if it means anything, I tried flashing the new clockwork touch from the zip on these forums after these issues started, and it never took, however, flashing through Rom Manager's after I purchased it worked fine.
Sorry about the long post, but I wanted to detail everything I've tried that I could think of before bothering anyone here. Does anyone know what could be the issue? I would really appreciate some help, because this issue is really frustrating, and I have no idea what's causing it.
Could someone help me with this please? I can try and get a log cat if needed. I'm just really hoping to get to the bottom of these issues.
I will be glad to help you out!
One big problem I see is that your not using Darkside Superwipe before flashing new roms.
So I would highly recommend you flash Darkside Superwipe first (clears all cache, partitions, ect very very thorughly) Better option than manually clearing cache and all that in clockwork mod.
Try Darkside Superwipe install the rom and see if you get any problems.
Here's how to use it if you dont know how to:

I'd like to point out that he does in fact use tdjs super wipe.
OP: have you tried other ROMs or kernels. In my past experiences, faux kernel did not meet my expectations so I moved along to another one. Give my configuration a go (refer to my signature) and let me know of the problem persists

Thanks for the replies!
techfanatic9 - I originally just wiped through clockwork ( before darkside superwipe was standard ), but now I use that too, and I'm still having those issues. I watched through the entire video just in case, and I'm doing it just like they say to.
iLeopard - I have tried Digital Warfare, but I still have the same issue when flashing things over it ( ICS Theme and/or PDroid ), even if it's supposed to be compatible, though I haven't tried kernels yet. I'll give your sig's setup a try and report back.
Meanwhile, could anything else be the issue? As you can probably tell, I've tried almost every mistake I could think of, and since my last phone had the same issue, a similar hardware issue seems unlikely.
All right, I've been running that ROM and kernel combo for a few days now. I don't seem to have any issues when I just flash the ROM and kernel, but I get stuck at the boot screen if I try to flash something else on top of it. Also, when I try to restore my text message backups through Gosms ( around 9800 texts that I want to keep ), the phone freezes halfway through the restore, and from that point on, the phone will freeze 5-10 minutes after rebooting, unless I reflash. I make sure I don't have the phone running and I leave it alone while restoring, and it doesn't help. I've only had this gosms issue since my flashing issue, and sometimes it restores fine.
Does anyone know what could be causing that?
Hi all,
I followed this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895) for returning to stock 4.0.4. All went good, but now my camera and youtube app don't work.
I also installed JB through OTA, but the problem still here.
Now I've followed all the step again, but I have the same problem yet. :/
I read around that it can be related to a wrong build.prop, but my system now is a virgin YAKJU, nothing modified..
What can be the problem? It's an hardware fault??
edit: noone of the camera applications in market work :/
thank you for your help

What is a super wipe?
I tried to wipe, wipe dalvik cache, and restore factory data with CWM, but without results. Furthermore the method I've followed has already wiped all.
I have to do anything else?

Are you installing apps first? are you sure your doing full factory image for your hardware? another thing I'd try is booting into clockwork without installing it, from boot loader and formatting /system. Then do factory image.
I have a similar problem, where my camera and the google talk app (for some reason) won't work. I posted about this about a week ago, but received no useful responses, which probably means this is an extremely rare problem. Superwipe didn't work for me, so if you haven't done so yet, save yourself some time. I haven't time reverting the phone to stock, and that's about all I haven't tried.

I tried almost everything: all kind of wipe (also superwipe), format, CWM (also last one, 6.0.0.5), TWRP, stock yakju from google dev, stock upgrade to JB, some JB rom.. nothing.
Now I'm convinced that is an hardware problem, it happened after a flash (to stock rom), but I think is a coincidence.
GTalk works for me.
Camera doesn't work, it goes in timeout.
Same thing with youtube (app starts, but when I select a video, it doesn't start, maybe youtube launch an intent for check camera availability, or something like).
Also other camera application from market don't work, and so application which use the camera light.
Another strange thing is that some times, when I turn on the phone, it doesn't start on first boot, but it restart once or twice and then boot.
If someone has a good advice, I'm happy to hear.
thank you again :/
having the same problems as u do.
Had similar issue and also couldnt save web images, followed @ickboblikescheese advice from paranoid android thread, use a root explorer to go into system/apps and delete quicksearchbox.apk then download google search from playstore and install. After a reboot i had full functionality of camera etc restored. Dunno if it will work for yas but probably worth a try
