Keypad during *228 call? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I need to dial some numbers during the *228 call for activation.
Dont know how, any clue?

*22891 is programing and *22890 is prl update. Just direct numbers if you can't pull up the keypad like on aosp
Thanks for that (also thanked in your original post)! I've had the same problem with CM9.
Note that I think:
*22890 = Verizon Programming *22891 = Preferred Roaming List (PRL) Update

You can also do *228# to get the programming call but through the regular phone interface, keypad and all.

##778# Hacks
I can't take credit for these, but they work...
Shorten time/ number of rings to answer
Credit to Elkay
Thread
Here is a tip from the 6700 forum that works on the Touch (credit to Elkay in the 6700 forum). You may have noticed that when someone calls you it may take several rings on their end before the Touch begins to ring. The reason for this delay is the “slot cycle index,” or how often your Touch polls the towers for an incoming call. Default appears to be about 5 seconds—way to long. Of course, as always, there is a compromise to be made—the more often it polls the tower, the more power it uses. Anyway here is the hack:
To do this, you will need your MSL number, which only Sprint (or your provider) can provide you.
1) Open up the phone app and dial ##778# (PST).
2) You will be asked to enter your MSL. Enter it, and you will be brought into the provisioning of your phone.
3) From the top left, select Modem Settings. On this page, your Slot Cycle Index (SCI) is how often your phone polls the tower for incoming calls, etc. This value is 1.28 seconds multiplied by 2 (i.e 0=1.28 secs, 1=2.56secs) with 0 fastest, 7 slowest. The default is 2, but lowering it to 1 hasn't noticeably affected my battery life, and roughly 2.5 second (SCI 1) response time is far more reasonable than roughly 5 seconds (SCI 2).

Force EV-DO/1X, quicker ring response
Same thread
Here is another tip from the same 6700 post by Elkay.
1) Follow steps 1 through 3 in the Shorten time/ number of rings to answer tip:
Also on this page is your preferred operation mode. The Default is Automatic, which is the best available mode (EV that will roll back to 1X when EV is unavailable). There are times when you might be in a fringe area and your mode may cycle frequently and this can seriously drain your battery. Setting this to HDR will force EV-DO only if you demand an EV-DO connection. Changing this setting to CDMA Only will force the phone to ignore an EV-DO tower and maintain only a 1xRTT connection.

Anyone else have a problem when entering the ##778# on the phone dialer? I have been getting random errors (67 and 1012) so i called sprint yesterday to try and resolve them. I was told to type in ##3282# (i think) to enter a service menu. It does nothing.
I press the green talk button to bring up the dialer, type ##778# and nothing hapens. If i press the green talk button again, it attempts to dial ##778#. Anyone care to give me a heads up on something stupid i am missing here? Thanks.

I had this problem once. Make sure you don't have some sort of custom dialing skin on. These won't let you access special ## codes. Didn't notice that untill l couldn't get a phone activated with a CSR and figured that was the problem.

actually different dialers as well as different radios wont allow the codes to work right. i always changes the things i need first and then load the goodies on there.
Ill try that. Anything to avoid a hard reset. I have so many little BS apps on this damn thing. Probably good to clean it up anyways.

I had the same problem until I found this thread. After removing "EquinoXe Wizard reTOUCHED Dialer" and soft-rebooting, it worked.
## # & error code
or 91 , 94, 71, 1012 errors are Registration/Provisioning errors. You have to contact tech support 1 800 639 6111 to have them re-provision your services. More than likely your PRL check sum ,User name, HA Shared Secret (should always be the word "secret") or your AAA Shared secret (randomly generated by Sprint) is invailid. In any case, they would have to reset on their end.
As far as the ##data# if you dont really know what your changing, I'd do some research first

OK, maybe I am the last one to know this but how do I find my MSL code on the Bell Mobility Touch?
You can get the MSL by using a program called GetSPC.
There is a link further down in this post:

Do be careful when forcing your phone to use EVDO only -- you won't be able to make/receive any calls or SMS as both of those services require the use of 1xRTT.
is there a way to debrand the sprint htc touch? i'm using it outside the USA!!

"Unlock"?? You're referring to a CDMA Touch, right (which is why you're in the Vogue forum)? I don't think you can unlock these. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the only carriers using CDMA are Sprint and Verizon (in US). If you wanted to use this with a GSM carrier (ATT, T-Mo) you wouldn't be able to regardless of what you do to the phone.
If you are referring to the MSL number, please read the post that you, yourself, quoted.

Can't activate phone after applying 2.2 update.zip

I have S-off, I went from the .0 software version to .2 software version and then applied the 2.2 update.zip file through stock recovery (I unrooted). After applying the 2.2 zip, my phone is asking me to activate and it is unsuccessful every time and routes me to Verizon customer service. They are closed right now, but I'm planning on calling tomorrow morning if all else fails. Anybody know a fix and, if not, should I be worried about my phone not activating because I wasn't meant to get 2.2 yet?
Hi.
After applying the ota over the update.zip i had the same issue i end up just calling them and saying i had gotten it "ota" and they told me to do the following to manually activate it.
dial ##778 and hit send then press edit mode
the password is 000000

In northeast ohio my home sid is 54 and the nid is 65535 which i believe is network standard for verizon but not 100% percent sure.
You may be able to google for this or find it in another verizon phone from a friend of family member in the area. If this is to much just call verizon explain it won't activate they will run you through all these steps and tell you the proper one.
Next you need to backout again
Verizon didn't tell me this step but with out it data doesn't work

This will get the basic functionality of you phone working there are still some settings in there that a *228 activation would change that i didn't but i haven't noticed any lost functionality or billing issues yet.
I tried changing my Min1 as it wasn't set to my phones number. After about 3 to 4 days I could not make any calls without being transferred to an operator.
As soon as I changed it back I was able to make calls again.
I do not recommend changing this field unless the Verizon techs tell you to do so..
Additional Information:
After doing some google searching I've found that it is completely normal for your MSID number to be different than your phone number. In this case the Droid incredible uses the MIN1 and MIN2 to fill in the MSID number.
So again I say do not edit these fields unless told to do so by your carrier as they must give you the correct information or your phone will not be able to make or receive calls.

[Q] How can i change from verizon to a carrier in India?

Hi, i just bought the phone off ebay about a week back.
through a contact my dad has in Reliance(carrier in India), i have somehow manged to get my meid registered., the phone has been rooted and is running stock sense 2.0 ROM. every time i go to wireless&networks and set the network selection to home only, i get no signal. putting it on automatic gives me a roaming sign on the network bar. dialing *228(while roaming is on) brings me to a reliance answering machine(?). after choosing my language, it tells me that my phone could not be activated.
please help. many people have manged to do this but im not getting any response from them.
thanks, Sid.
Dial ##778# and change settings manually. The code is 000000. You will have to change Home SID to the SID for Reliance and change MDN and MSID. If your old phone worked, easiest way is to change the settings to match your old phone.

I've tried dialing ##778#, but nothing happens. just takes me back to the dialer. should i change my ROM?
How about ##7764726#?
If neither will work, you might have to flash to a stock ROM. Both should definitely work from a stock ROM.

just recovered the stock ROM and ##778# works! ive also manged to get the prl from my carrier, but i dont have my old phone. i can probably arrange the the MID no.s etc, though. Also, i dont have to change the ESN, do i?
I think these are the things you will have to change:
MDN is your full phone number including area code. In the US, this is 10-digits.
MIN1 in the US is typically the 3-digit area code.
MIN2 is typically the 7-digit local number.
MIN1 and MIN2 can be different than the MDN, but that's very rare and usually only happens if you've had a phone number change.
MNC and MCC will need to be changed for your country.
MCC+MNC+MIN1+MIN2 = IMSI, which is the the subscriber identification for your cell provider so you need to get those 4 settings correct.
Home SID will need to be changed to Reliance.
I think MCC, MNC, and Home SID you should be able to get from any working CDMA phone that successfully connects to Reliance. Maybe get it from a friend or family member's phone. MDN, MIN1, and MIN2 should be the only things unique to your phone.
No, if your MEID is registered, you don't have to change it or the ESN.

hi this is vivek i also have a droid and it also has the same problem but the meid is not registered and it is rooted and has a stock rom but when i dial ##778# it juz come to the dailer so what shud i do pls help me out
MEID will need to be registered. There's really no reason to proceed if it's not, because the network won't see your phone.
##778# sometimes doesn't work on my phone, I often have to reboot it and immediately try ##778#. Oh, and you have to hit Dial after entering it. It will ask for a password, and that's going to be 000000.
However, without having your MEID registered, you won't get anywhere.

hi, make sure you get the a key. im having trouble getting that. last piece of the jigsaw i guess.
Usually a fresh activation doesn't require an A-Key, but if you change MDN/MSID too much, it'll trigger a security lockout in the fraud detection system, and then you will need the A-Key to reset it.
I don't know how it is with Reliance in India, but with Verizon in the US, you have to call a higher level tech support person to get the A-Key. One way to get around that, is to have the ESN/MEID on your account changed to a different device, and then change it back.

Im not on sprint, but what does it show as the Mobile network type under Settings: About Device: Mobile network type?
I was messing with my phone and had changed the settings in ##DATA#
I was getting 1x only so I had to change the HDR/1x Selection under Data: Others. Hybrid works the best for me, but you could try changing to "LTE + CDMA + EVDO Mode. When I selected CDMA only then it only got 1x and not full EVDO/3g.
If that's not it did you have to enter the HA & AAA secret keys to get data to work?

Select Other > Select HDR/1X Selection > Select Mode( Try LTE + CDMA + EvDO, if that doesnt work try hybrid or global mode)
Just browse the data menu but do not touch korean mode ever.

[Q] Sprint Galaxy S3

Ok, so I have a Sprint Galaxy S3 [SPH-L710] that I want to flash to Page Plus.
I've looked through Google, and have it working CDMA - 1xRTT
For the life of me, I can't find a way to get it working on 3G
Every conversation goes to: PM Me
[but the Convos are about a year old...]
Or use a Donor Phone
[But my MEID won't Stick...]
I have the SPC Code, and the 16 digit passcode for my SGS3
[and for the donor phone, but I hear you can get it working with no donor phone]
PRL: 53269-page-plus-sprint-phones
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Pretty sure you should edit those pictures so they dont show your MDN (phone number), MIN, and MEID.
The few people who know how to get 3g without a donor don't want to share, so you will need a donor to get the keys or find somebody willing to get them for you.

Got it!
Ok, so you have a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3, [SPH-L710] and you want to Flash it to Page Plus?
[I'm assuming this will work for ANY carrier, but we all know what assuming does...]
Take it to dealer and have the MEID activated.
Flash the PRL of carrier you want to switch to, restart phone.
You'll also need to change the SPC on the Phone to 000000
Here's the trick, you need another phone with the dial pad open and ready.
hold the other phones speaker to the mic of the S3
Dial *228 on the S3 you want activated.
When it asks you to press 1, press one on the other phone,
The S3 will hear the dial, and proceed to program it for you.
[Back in the day if you recorded the tones that were made from a payphone after paying, you could play it back,, it would hear the dial, and think you paid, when you didn't]
Now Flash a correct PRL [I have provided a copy I used for Page Plus]
No Roaming Signal
CDMA - EvDo Rev.A
Blam, it works.
