Probably the same way this thread was solved:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743370

It will come back if you change your location or the next day.

Did you figure out a fix? I'm having the same problem except I don't remember swiping it away either on purpose or om accident. I opened the Google Now all and my weather card was gone. I've tried turning off Google Now and turning it back on and it hasn't come back. In my settings it has the weather card settings and its set to display always but even I'm the sample cards page there is no sample weather card.. help??

I am also having the same problem, and toggling Google Now and all of the associated location permissions didn't bring the card back.

my google now weather notifications will only work when I'm in my hometown.

Same here.. Tried everything including full wipe and fresh flash. Google issue perhaps?

Guys I had the same problem. Go into Google now, press the settings button and turn Google now off. Then click back and turn it back on. This solved it for me.

I turned it off earlier today and just now turned it back on. Works fine. There are some noteworthy settings to display different locations.
butter and jelly please...

Also keep in mind that if you're traveling then that card takes priority over weather so weather will not show.

I can't get my Google Now to display the correct weather. It shows Washington DC or London England weather.. neither of which are close to me.. even though I have all google service locations turned on.

The same has happened to my weather card; swiped it away 3 days ago and it won't come back, it's not even in the sample cards section.
Resetting google now does nothing, all my other settings are fine, I can't get it back it's driving me nuts!
Did anyone manage to get it back?

Even hard reset didn't help!! Still not weather card. Don't now what else to try.

It's really weird... I live on the outskirts of London, whenever I travel to work or into London, the weather card comes back (it shows me the weather card for the whole of London) and the sample weather card shows in the sample cards section as well.
As soon as I get off the tube back to my hometown, the weather card disappears from the main page and the sample card page! It's almost like it can do a weather card for London, but not for anywhere outside of London, even if it's only just outside.
Weirder still is that I'm pretty sure I remember it having a weather card for my hometown on my first day of using it! Might be wrong though, maybe have been for London.

I have the same problem ... its driving me nuts. Maybe the reason you get London weather is due tot he fact you swiped away your hometowns weather btu still ahve the weather card enabled thus new locations weather is presented?
Eitherway is really annoying!

Same problem here. Anyone have a solution to this yet. Turning things on and off don't help (Google Now, Weather, Location, etc).
I also don't see the Weather Sample Card, though the Settings option is there. When I search for weather, I don't see a card as well, not even in Chrome. Frustrating indeed.

I'm thinking the weather portion of Google Now is down. It stopped working for me last night too, and the weather card doesn't pop up even if you ask what the weather is, it just does a google search.

Weird bug with HTC Weather app

I've noticed that with my T-Mobile sim in the Desire the HTC weather app can't find any weather from accuweather for my current location (Loughborough), but put in my Vodafone sim and it finds it no problems whatsoever. Both are updating over wifi... Anyone else having problems with the weather app?

That bug is not new as i had Hero for few days that had this bug too as well as HD2.
Use wetather bug
Always find location.
i find that my weather will drop out sometimes IE: it'll just disappear from my clock widget, if i then click on it it'll tell me there is no weather for the location, however, if i update it manually (press refresh icon on the bottom left) it will find the weather for my location !
One other thng is that (and this might be part of the problem) is that if i check the little box to update automatically it will do so for a while, then the weather will drop off the clock again, ill go into the settings only to find the box is unchecked again!
its only a small issue but bloody annoying !
Any ideas ?
i also got that, but to get it working just simply add your city and then in the widget options pick that city instead of the current location and it works
Having used the Hero for a year I can tell you the novelty of the htc weather app soon wears off when you realise its rubbish. It doesnt always change to the correct weather station and when it does its usually wrong.
Get weather bug , its accurate and doesnt use as much battery power as the htc widget.

Weather widget and current location

Hi,
My weather widget shows my country as current location and not my town. Does anyone know how this current location thing exaclty work and how can I correct my problem. I can add my city manualy without any problems at all. Location tracking is turned on. But this damn widget still shows country and not the town I know that I can remove widget and add it again and select my town, but I want dynamic thing (current location). Tried weatherbug and it detects my location without any problems. Help and thanks.
My advice.. dont bother with the weather widget, all it does is tell you what you can find out by looking out the window.

I had the same problem here (Ireland). It just listed my country as the current location. I decided to try a different weather app called snow storm. BUT... After I tried out this app I realised (coincidence?) that my current location started working in the standard weather app!!! It shows the area Im in now (or closest big town, usually correct within 2km). Im in Dublin and it shows all the different regions of the city as I drive around I don't know what caused it to suddenly work but it does now. When it started working it was on and off for a day to two. If I refreshed the weatehr sometimes it would jump back to Ireland(current) and if I refreshed again 2 or 3 times it would jump to Stillorgan(current). i.e. the local area. Now it does not jump to country at all and always lists the current area. No idea how it started working though. no updates etc. try refreshing the weather 4 or 5 times in a row and see if it still says your country and not your town? Actually, my mobile operator (O2) started selling the phone around about the time it started working?! maybe its linked to that?
I tried to install application you've mentioned, tried to refresh 6 times weather app - no change at all Tried to delete location and weather data - still no change It would be very interesting to know how this location thing deas exactly work at all. Because and world clock app shows my location as Lithuania and not my town which is capital of Lithuania:/ And one more thing - Vilnius is not mentioned in available timezones list when Dublin is there. Maybe this all thing is because of that?
That is strange. I would expect Vilnius to be there. I would expect the capital city of all EU countries to be there. I can only think it must somehow be network related. The phone naturally gets this location information from your network somehow. If the network do not provide this information to the phone in a certain way maybe it cannot deduce your location? the fact that mine works now and DID NOT work for 3 weeks when I first got the phone (I even have a post about this) I think it must be network. I changed nothing else with the phone and its perfect now. Does your network sell the HTC Desire? Do they plan to sell it? I think when they do, your location will start working.
Problem is that one guy I know has HTC legend and he is in the same network I am and his legend shows Vilnius without any single problem:/ It still would be very interesting to know how the phone detects location - does it use some kind of cell info, does it use internet. Because if I want location services to work I must turn on mobile network. And when location services are turned off my current location is Minsk I think because it is in the same time zone as I am and because it is in the database. Can you look at your phone's timezones? Are you able to see Vilnius in there?
I wish too the weather widget could give a forecast. Looks great but not exactly practical. Shame.
I had exactly the same problem as you, the weather app showed my country and not the town was in. But somehow it managed to jump to the city (in Sweden) I was currently staying in, but now when I´m 300km away it still shows the same town.
I don't think there´s anything wrong with the network because the widget called Latitude shows updates very frequently and tells me where I am even in very small towns.
I think it has to do with
Menu -> Settings -> Location -> USE GPS satellites... I think, not sure
Edit: Confirmed.
I had update disabled (i update the widget manually) and from the previous update it got stuck at my country (Macedonia).
I ticked the previously mentioned option, enabled the internet, chose to update the weather, and it located my exact region.

That's really obvious my friend! It´s like "Try restarting it" =)
Nah I know how to fix it, it worked for me.
Remove it from the home screen, then when you reattach it the widget (Clock as it's called) will ask you to choose a city and just simply pick "Current location" from the list. Remember to go to the weather app and update if the weather is not visible in the widget.

Nanchang?
Hi guys
I didn't want to create a new thread as I'm having similar problems to the OP.
Since yesterday, the current location and time on my home screen time/weather widget (the one with the flip clock and weather) shows that I'm in Nanchang, with the weather to suit (cos it certainly isn't 27 degrees celsius at 22:16 here in Leeds, West Yorkshire!).
I installed Gameboid last night, and a couple of games (roms); also NewsRoom, and installed Who Wants To Be A Millionaire 2010
I removed Radiant, and Toss It games to free up some space
I have tried selecting Leeds as the City when adding the clock widget, which is fine as it shows me the correct time and weather on the widget/home screen. However, the time on the taskbar at the top still shows as 22.23 (at moment of typing this), which is the time in Nanchang.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Mo
It's ok guys. Seems to have been a glitch with network whilst I was at work cos as soon as I left Morley (Leeds), phone automatically straightened itself out. Weird. But I'm happy.

HTC clock widget

It seems to pull either the wrong weather or very much behind in what it downloads. It shows the sun being out way after dark and rain when there isnt. Even went to accuweathers website where it downloads the data from and they show the current data, I have even done a refresh inside the weather app it self. Deleted the widget and reloaded it. Is this a known issue others are having? Will it be fixed or is there a fix?
Works fine, check that ur settings are updating the widget in a shorter amount of time... i think default is at four hours
I have done that and even when i manually update/refresh weather it still shows wrong weather about 2 hours behind accuweathers website which it pulls from.
I am actually having this problem. And the weather keeps changing my location, when even GPS and self update is off. I mean, how can this be possible?
Weather also uses the "Use wireless networks" under my locations in settings. I know this much but as for the old weather details being shown vs the current weather on accuweather I am not sure.

What's it showing for you? I've noticed mine keeps switching between Guaynabo, Bayamon, and Puerto Rico (yes, just plain ol' PR)... To be fair I do live right in between Guaynabo and Bayamon so I can understand the random switching there (altho it seems to do it even when I haven't left the confines of my house). Not sure why it just states Puerto Rico sometimes.
The actual weather report does seem to be fairly accurate tho, from what I've seen. I might switch to the ADW Launcher soon anyway so I'm not terribly worried about HTC's weather widget.

[Q] Weather info is innacurate

My location is correct but the temps are wrong. Temperatures are provided by the default OpenWeatherMap provider and I've tried other providers as well but the temperatures are still incorrect.

Have you found solution, about temperature?
I tried to use it but getting always that its trying update temperature, but dont show location until i turn gps and wifi/3g on? How to make it update temperature automatically, because now it's update only then i go to themer setting - > weather
Having same problem, I'm in England and the temp is showing 25C haha. Seriously it's annoying and I cant find a solution. It's not working.

I'm having this issue as well. It says it 77 deg F....in Chicago. It's been getting it wrong for about a week now which is frustrating. I'm not going to keep using it for weather at this point which sucks because I bought the full version of Zooper. :crying:
I've been having this problem ever since I started using Zooper. Like Jed, the temperature is so far off, I don't think there's anywhere in the country right now that's actually that warm. We're talking 40+ degrees difference. Of the three providers, two of them have roughly the same information... which leads me to believe it's a location issue, as if Zooper is reporting to the weather servers that I'm some hundreds, or thousands, of miles from where I actually am. I've switched to Yahoo for now, as it seems at least somewhat close, but if past problems are any indication, it will eventually go out of whack and I'll switch back to one of the others, and that one will be somewhat accurate for a month or so.
Try checking the "Alternative Geocoder" option under "Global Preferences->Advanced". It seemed to fix it for me.
I actually fixed it by manually entering my location for each widget that required it. It works if you don't travel that much.

I tried both options and it is still not working.
The widget says 28 degrees Celsius but is actually 11 degrees Celsius.
The Alternative Geocoder did not worked for me as well so I changed the weather provider and picked Yr.no. I guess you have to install that one before. Now the weather is accurate for my small town in France
Continuing problems with inaccurate weather
Any fixes in sight? Regardless of which of the 3 weather providers I choose, I'm getting temp readings that are 10-15 degrees off. My location is being accurately detected. I'm hoping that someone knows of a way to increase the accuracy of the weather info provided. Otherwise, love the app!
Ya anyway to add others weather provider.
The 3 bundle weather is completely not accurate. Now is heavy hot but it show raining to me.
Try the advanced Menu - > Debug Info -> Current Weather from Open Weather Map?
And check Open weather on Weather Menu.
That should fix the problem.

I'm having issues now with my weather info (only question marks or "Unknown") and icons (only a placeholder) not showing/updating. I'd like to try this fix but I couldn't find "Debug Info" in Zooper. Can you guide me as to how to get to the Debug Info menu? TIA
cant believe its been 2 years and this issue is still in the app.
i tried alternate geocoder, tried the 3 weather providers....
even tried selecting my location manually
i still get 10degrees difference sometimes.. i have the yahoo app and it shows the correct temp.. but zooper doesnt.
i regret paying for this app.. dont recommend it

Weather and clock widget issue

I've been extremely annoyed by the default weather widget not wanting to work as intended, I mean, the only way that works for me is to enter my city manually, that's exactly how I've always wanted to use it but because of the Lockscreen weather widget is always showing the annoying "weather unavailable error" I've tried everything I possibly could think of and nothing seems to to fix it.
My location is on using the battery saving option, that's the way I just use it in all my devices, so I thought it should work if I change it to high accuracy, ehh wrong, the Auto location weather has never worked, not out of the box, not even after I factory reset it twice and not even after debranding it from T-Mobile to the Unlocked US version (it requires unlocking the bootloader so it reseted again), no matter what I do or what Location option I use it never works.
Location is working fine for all the other apps that requires it, just not for the Weather app, it has never asked me for a location permission nor there is an option to allow for it on the App settings, there is no lockscreen options that I can turn on or off and even by resetting the weather and Weather widget apps data and cache, disable and re-enable them, the lockscreen widget still shows and still has the annoying error message.
As you can see I've tried everything and by doing a Google search it seems that it's a known and common HTC issues for years, some people have managed to fix it by doing some of the things I've already done but most of them have never fixed them. I really can't understand how HTC can have an app like the one on the lockscreen that you can't even edit its settings and to make things worst it doesn't work. It should simply pulls the settings from the Home screen one, and work just like that one, but even if you add a city manually it seems to requires the Location to be on so it shows your actual location's weather. That's a huge bug, but the worst one is that the actual location feature doesn't want to work no matter what I do. The error it always gives me when trying to use the Current Location weather is, "unable to detect current weather, pull down to refresh" , it has never worked.
Anyone else with the same issue? Obviously I'm not going to factory reset a 4th time just to see if it finally works, I can deal with the home screen one as at least it works as I want, with manual cities entered, but the one from the lockscreen can't be changed and seeing the error all the time just triggered my worst OCD symptoms.
Hard to believe I'm the only one with this issue...
But to give you all an update, just 1 hour ago I tried again and changed my location to High accuracy, then went to the Location Scanning settings and turned on Wifi scanning, in the weather widget I turned on the Auto detect my location option, rebooted the phone and for my surprise and for the first time I saw the Lockscreen widget showing my location, so I immediately went to the weather app just to see if the Current Location information was finally showing but there was the usual "Unable to detect Current Location" message, after seeing this I went back to my Lockscreen and there were no more weather information and got back the "Weather unavailable" error again.
I'm giving up here, this is just BS and an obvious bug that seems to be happening for years with at least 4 of the last HTC flagships and Sense, do a Google search and you'll see, and worst thing is that it seems nobody is paying attention to it.
Having the same issue here and it so frustrating. Had an A9 as a work phone and the Weather Unavailable bug was infuriating, got the 10 and it seems that the bug is still there.
Sent from my HTC 10 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Well, what worries me the most now is that it seems that you are also in Puerto Rico, San Lorenzo, I live in Caguas, is it possible that this weather app and widget somehow just works in the USA and once it recognizes our location outside the Continental USA gives the error? Pretty dumb if it's just that.
It dont seem to happen with my sister's M9 and my mother's M8. But it could be triggered by it. Would you check if when you choose the weather option on the widget your actual city shows up as a city that is not editable through the settings?

One of the occasions before the number of apps and services resets I've done until now, I saw my City just like yours and I assumed that it was pulling that info from my Contact information or simply that at one point it indeed pulled my Current Location and stored that, but even then, like I said, the Current Location on the weather app has never showed any information, it has always given me the error and just until a couple of hours ago the lockscreen widget has never worked either, a couple of hours ago after another set of app resets and a reboot it worked for a second, for the first time, and once I entered to the weather app and saw the Current Location error again, when I went back to the lockscreen the widget had already lost the info and was showing the error message again.
So maybe it does retrieve it but dont recognize it ?

That's what I'm not afraid of, simply because if that's the case we will be stuck on this forever. Best case scenario and the reason of me posting this here is to try to find a fix or maybe to understand why exactly this happens.
Interesting discovery and update about this issue.
I have the HTC 10 and an S7 edge, so the idea was to alternate between the 2 every once in a whole, so on Tuesday I went back to my S7 edge and I've been using it for the past 5 days, what I immediately realized after I restarted the HTC 10 after removing the Sim card and SD card was that there was no more Weather unavailable error, the Lockscreen widget was showing the information just fine, only thing different was that it didn't have a SIM card installed so what for me was very strange. I don't know if the Desktop widget was going to work or not because I ready have disabled and installed a 3rd party app that was working as the original should have.
Well, today I decided to switch phones again and for my surprise as soon as I installed the Sim card on it and went to the lockscreen, there was the error again, so it can't be a coincidence, there's a huge bug affecting current location information when using what at least seems to be an out of the continental USA carrier, even when I'm using a T-Mobile one, that here in Puerto Rico is the same than in the States. So it may be an APN thing or simply it detects location as out of CONUS and errors out, it's so annoying.
Any ideas guys?

Replicated it! So the theory of this problem being caused by being out of CONUS and having an American sim card could be the problem.

Are you with T-mobile also? Do you also have problems with it not detecting your Time Zone? Since day 1 I need to use manual Time Zone because it has never detected it, so now I'm thinking it may be related. One more thing, are you using the sim card that came with the phone or an old one from other phones?

AT&T and yes, ever since day 1 had the Time Zone problem. When you hit the time on the widget it triggers the Clock app and noticed that on the world clock my home time zone is set to miami. I bet this problem have to do with that. The phone getting a location from the network not being in PR, GPS locating you in PR, the app validates then falses and boila 'Location Unavailable'.

Yes, that's my theory too, it can't understand having a location from the GPS or Wifi that says that we are in Puerto Rico and a US carrier Sim card.
Do you use an old Sim card, one that has been used in other phones before or are you using the one that comes with the phone? I've been just thinking on maybe switch the Sim card for the one that came with it just to see what happens but I also don't want to simply waste a new card just to get the same error.
I have exactly the same issue, I live in the Channel Islands and when I put my Airtel sim into my phone the weather widget on both the lock screen and the home screen shows "location unavailable". However when I take my sim out the widget works perfectly fine! If you have found a way to fix this problem please could you post it here; I am currently trying to contact HTC to report the problem!!!
I had a 55 minutes chat with one of HTC CSR and after a long and frustrating simple step by step troubleshooting, she promised me that she was going to pass the information to the Dev department, I urge you all to do the same, if not, they will simply take this as an isolated incident.

Since I have an Unlocked version I had to use the sim card I have been using for all my phones lately. So having and old or new sim card does not mean anything, for my opinion.

Corillo!!
So... did you manage to fix the issue with the lockscreen widget? I live in Mayaguez and I have an old T-mobile sim card that I had to cut to make it nano, and it's not picking the location either.
Or maybe is the "Junta de control fiscal" that is starting to fu***** with us??? Who knows what the problem is... D - :

No, still the same and it's not the card as I have a brand new Nano card on it and as soon as I insert it does the error, only way it works is with no card and in wifi, just plain stupid and a shame that they seem to not give a *amn to fix it.
I just gave up.

In the viper rom (great rom btw) there in an option in the app "venom tweaks" to change the lock screen to the AOSP JB lock screen. Still no weather but after least it doesn't say "location unavailable" Watch the picture attached.
I'm in the same boat as you guys. I remember around 4 or 5 years ago in my HTC M7 the weather widget used to work flawlessly but after a Sense update everything stopped working. Then I got the HTC One M9 and the same thing. Recently I bought an HTC One A9 to my wife and also has the same issue. So as erasat said there must be a bug in the application that affects users outside US continent.
