I am addicted to the Amazon Appstore due to daily paid apps become free for 24 hours.

Today November 2, 2011 Free app of the day:
Drift Mania Championship
LINK:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004VMKFMG?ie=UTF8&ref=mas_faad
If you've ever experienced that moment when your tires lose their grip and you begin to spin out, you know just how terrifying that can be. In Drift Mania Championship, that's actually the object of the game. Your head and your tires will both be spinning when you take on this exciting game for Android.
Drift Away:
The key to Drift Mania Championship is a combination of pushing the limits while maintaining control. Drifting is the act of maneuvering a vehicle around corners at speeds and angles that exceed the vehicle's grip--a kind of controlled slide. But go too fast and your slide becomes Wipeout City.
Stay on Track
Five twisting and turning tracks included
Drive one of seven different stylin' cars and select from five challenging tracks. Start out in Practice mode until you get the hang of it, then switch to Drift mode for the serious action.
Points are awarded based on four main criteria: Line, Angle, Speed, and Impact. Line involves drifting within pre-designated zones. The line is marked by several clipping zones, where the closer you get, the more points you score. With Angle, the goal is to get your car as sideways as possible without crashing.
Of course, you will always have a need for Speed. Try to drift as fast as possible, but be careful--hit a wall or fly off the track and you'll lose your current combo score. If you complete the race within a set amount of time, the game awards extra points. You'll also get bonuses based on your overall Impact: entertaining the crowd and delivering an exciting performance. Make the fans cheer and treat them to the sweet smell of burning rubber.
Race in 3D:
Drift Mania Championship features stunning 3D graphics for a realistic racing experience. The app takes advantage of the multi-touch capabilities of your Android device, which means you'll have to rack up the miles while getting a feel for the controls and interface. You can adjust your steering sensitivity, use three different camera configurations, and even replay your best combos.
Challenge friends to match your performance by submitting your best scores to the global leaderboards for each track. The top 100 positions are displayed on the official Drift Mania website.
Note: This game is not compatible with Samsung devices using Android 2.1. Upgrade to 2.2 or try the Lite version of the app.
I got it today... shows it's $14.99.

I know and i figured that was a GREAT grab!!
zzelinka - I tend to forget sometimes too. but this app is useful, and with the memory of the Epic 4G touch, you will barely notice the space it takes up.
Polaris seems really good although I haven't really used it much yet. Is this even worth grabbing?

I say you grab all the apps that even potencialy look worthy. Back them up via titanium backup, uninstall them so there not taking up space and you will still have them on your phone when you want to use them! Brilliant right!

Never thought of that. Genius.
Kyhassen I would like to thank you for bringing this information to the sg2 forum. I have only used amazon app store to download better keyboard so I never go on it so I wouldn't have seen the free paid apps! I tried out the office app today and am blown away! When I first started using android on my erris I thought it was just a fun toy. Then I got a evo on sprint and found it a usefull daily tool using the calander and note pad ect. But always used my computer alot. Now with this app and and others growing so fast and being so compatible with windows OS my phones become a must in day to day living. I gave up my lap top now because this phone pretty much does it all from a word/power point/spread sheet/music/video edit/calander and much more. I use my $2,000 once in a blue moon. Mainly to incert pics on xda since my phone can't. God Bless Google! Fyi I hit my thanks button on your profile till it ran out just now kyhassen. Mahalo!

You can purchase the apps for free but choose not to install them. You will still have the option of installing them later but will still get them free. There's not much reason to use titanium backup for this purpose, your Amazon account remembers that you own the app(s) and you can install/reinstall them at will.

Pig Blaster somewhat reminds me of Zuma. i wasnt too fond of the game, so im gonna pass on this one.
I got the amazon appstore the day it came out. And have EVERY SINGLE free app of the day, so 150+ apps for free (that are originally paid for). Most apps are alright, but i love it when they have some really good apps for free, those come in handy. I dont like that they have games as app of the day 95% of the time. Overall, its an app to have, i have it on my home screen so i never forget to take 10 seconds and grab the free app of the day. (No, i dont have all the apps of the day installed, as posted above, once you get the app once, u can login to ur amazon account on the appstore FROM ANY PHONE and install w.e. app u like).

Osmos: $4.99 - 5/5 stars
Anomaly Warzon Earth: $3.99 - 4.5/5 stars
World of Goo: $4.99 - 5/5 stars
I already owned World of Goo, but it was worth it for the others.
Thanks for this mate
Good stuff. Love the humble bundle, glad to see it coming to Android.
I can't start EDGE. I'm only getting a green screen, when i start it.
But nontheless they are really great games. And you do something good for children, who needs help.

You and a lot of others, actually. Thankfully, I'm not one of them, but the developer did respond to a coworker having the same problem on his Xoom to say he's aware of the problem and working on a fix.
...which is really the only downside to this whole bundle. Since it's not part of the market, you have no solid way of knowing when there's an update. I hope Google gets on board and introduces a way to flag apps as legit to your market account, but I'm not exactly holding my breath.
I always buy the humble bundles, there is one every 4 months or so. Now that's the right way to fight against piracy: good prices for good games!
Loving the bundles that have been coming out for the PC and now to come to Android to not only get great games, but the give towards charity is a win win.

Everything works completely fine on my phone, played anomaly most, seeing as I really wantwdnit when I first saw it get released months ago for the iPhone and PC. Edge worked fine when I played it for about 30 seconds (classic version) and osmos worked fine when I tried that out as well.
Just on a side note I have the graphics acceleration thingo turned off in the developer options menu. This could be the cause of the green thing in edge.

No Tutorial; just some easy beginner Quests.
Only thing that really frosts me about Order and Chaos is that they dropped the subscription charge for IOS users - but not Android.
Android users are paying for the IOS Servers with our subscriptions.
Only $.99 a month (after November), but shees...

I don't think that is correct about ios. I bought it a while back for ios and it says install on iTunes but it says it's only for 3 months.

From what I can gather, it's definitely a great value at 99 cents but the end game is largely cash driven.
So play for fun, but don't take it seriously (grinding) unless you're well aware of the financial commitment that those hours will lead to.

I bought this back during the winter .99cent sale. Great game. I have one character at level ~40 and another at like ~20.
It never played on my Transformer right without hacks and tweaks and I got tired of playing on my Galaxy Nexus. My subscription is expired probably and I probably won't renew. Was a fun run though. I played through a few dungeons with some high level guys healing me constantly. Had my fill for .99
I did buy a 6month subscription. I may have time left. Maybe ill try and pick it back up.

Hey man I registered xda just to say I got owned by this, just bought it 3 days ago. With my 25 dollas from Google. I call this game WoW 2 and its worthy of that, my wife leans over and says "you spent 200 bucks to play wow in bed"..."yep".
My user is Krazypickle...add me if you want a buddy.
Im gonna give a short review just because.
Controls I give a 7 and that is partially my tablet touch newbness, they seems to lag a bit or stop working altogether half the time, im also getting some choppyness...not sure if its network or graphic. This game may not be totally optimized from what I can tell. Im gonna connect my ps3 controller....might help?
Graphics = to WoW (slightly off, but pretty much and I feel this is a compliment)
New features is sweet, I feel the rogue is unique....timed stealth, stealth during combat, bonus while stealth, multiple proc possibilities, enertaining for sure. Cant wait to try other classes.
Its super weak, you buy the game then pay a subscription I think? Annnnnnnnd they make it possible to buy gold.....pretty weak in my opinion. Im gonna play without buying gold...makes it more fun anyhow. Just like Rage of Bahaumut, havent spent a dime....getting my ass kicked lol.
Im waiting for my nexus to charge lol

You don't have to buy Gold. Gold is just regular in game currency for 1000 silver. I really liked Order and Chaos and went ahead and bought a 6mo subscription (expired now). I grew tired of making it work on my old tablet and gave up on it. My level 40 is a female warrior and I have a lvl20 male archer or whatever. I really like the Archer more. Seems most of the enemies are dead by the time they even walk over to me.
I would focus on your skills. My warrior is a blacksmith and does weapons and armor. It is kind of confusing how you level that up. But how it works is through a weird kind of experience. The more you use your skill the more "skill credits" you have. Then you find your skill master in the big main city. There you can spend your "skill credits" on purchasing various crafts, but don't waste your credits. Instead focus on buying upgraded Master Books (Master II, Master III, Master IV).
Focusing on increasing your skill sets also will pay you very well when you go to sell this stuff. I typically sell the higher grade stuff in the online market for 1-2 gold a piece. You also want to sell stuff like large groups of wool and other stuff that is required for other types of skills because collecting can be a pain. Some people just opt to spend 1-2 gold on a bundle of raw material. Plus you get nothing for selling it at a shop.
There are two people in our household who are at endgame, and neither has had to spend a dime in real world money to advance their character. You *can*, but you don't have to. For example, a lot of people, when they hit 60, spend fifteen bucks on 'rune gear'. It gives them a full set of gear they can effectively run legendaries in. You can get the same gear from lvl60 dungeon runs and from world bosses, though. My son (JackChurchil @ Swamp of Wyrms) is actually buying his rune set for his archer tomorrow.
I've got a lvl42 healer monk hybrid ( Daede @ Swamp of Wyrms ) that already has a full set of world-drop gear sitting in storage waiting for me to hit the levels where I can wear them, including a really nice lvl51 healer tunic, that is actually better than the rune-gear healer robe.. It's all stuff Orion (JackChurchil) picked up on his way to 60 or while doing dailies at 60...
My brother, Ben, has a 60 Warrior tank ( WoopAss @ Swamp of Wyrms ), and has no real intention of buying rune gear. He's got a rare tanking sword, a real nice rare shield, and a decent set of collected-it-along-the-way tank gear, all with no real money investment other than the game itself.
Legendary runs use a system called 'exhaust', and while you can use runes (real money) to replenish your exhaust, it also replenishes automatically on a daily basis. A typical legendary run costs between 9 and 17 exhaust, and you have 100 to spend per day, so unless you literally sit n the game and no-life it *all day*, you most likely won't see a reason to consistently spend money.
You can spend money to craft, but on the server we play on (being very low population) you really don't need to. The bosses that drop the crafting mats you can buy with runes aren't actively farmed, so there's a good chance you can get what you need.
Just my two-cents. If anybody is interested in playing with us, we are:
Guild: All.6's.and7's
Server: Swamp of Wyrms
Officers:
Me (Jay): Daede (monk) / Machine (warrior) / Daena (ranger) / Isis (mage)
Orion: JackChurchil (ranger) / Roku (monk) / Øríon (warrior) / FireLordOzai (mage)
Ben: WoopAss (warrior) / CottonPicka (mage) / NecroHealer (monk) / BudSmoker (ranger)
When adding people to friends, teams, or sending whispers, capitalization does matter.
Feel free to hit us up in-game, anytime
-Jay

Im posting this here since its the phone I currently own. I used to love android but now ever since my dad gave me an iPad, I'm thinking to myself iOS is not as bad as I once thought. I've been playing games on it and iOS has far better games IMO and you can't theme android unless you know what you're doing or have a nonstock launcher. Anyway I don't wanna turn this into an iOS vs android debate. I just wanna know what I can do with my sgs3 to make it better being rooted stock (not into flashing roms anymore) would love to know to theme with touchwiz being my launcher and maybe some good apps and games? Thanks guys you all do such great work
http://www.androidpolice.com/tags/games/ You can use sites like android police which run a lot of apps/games reviews, which is what i love about the site. If you're bored with Android over games then you only have what iOS give you, what i mean to say on Android you can run emulators etc. If you really like the games on iOS then get a iPod Touch, that's one route. If you're bored of Android overall, you will get bored of iOS even sooner, the novelty runs off when you realize although the apps my look prettier essentially the functionality of their Android counterpart is the same.
edit: Also check out post like this form AP:

You mean you can't make your own themes unless you know what you're doing? Because it's fairly easy to customize it once you know how. It does take a lot of time though... but have you check out the available themes? There are many launchers to play around with. You should really explore more. Although you said you've used androids for awhile... i don't think you even scratched the surface.

Go the next chapter: LEARN ANDROID. There are endless possibilities once you've got the ins & outs of the Android platform.
Once you've done that and understood how the platform works...its time to get into development.
There are so many things you can do with Android...and no its not just theming. Lol.

Oh trust me I've tried like almost all launchers at one point that was available at the time. I've always went back to stock which was sense at the time. I just like stock and hate how you can't theme touchwiz .i mean you can but I have no knowledge in doing so and don't have much time to sit and figure it out ATM. And you're right back when I had the touch diamond I tried the iPhone 3G and got easily bored with it. I guess eventually the iPad will have same result. Thanks for the replies.
Same boat here. I starting to get bored of android. At times I'm jealous of the apple ecosystem. I mean I don't game much but finding a decent pair of headphone that is fully conpatible with this phone is a pain in the ass
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Theming isn't that hard either. I've been able to theme without even knowing much about how it even works just by changing images. The way I've sort of figured out how to do it is using root explorer. I'll download a rom that is themed and I'll unzip the systemui.apk and basically just look through the images there. Based on the locations of particular images I'll know where to put new ones. Framework-res.apk also has stuff to look thorough add well as lidroid-res.apk. It's not original stuff but I can manage to cherry pick stuff to make my phone look the way I like. Usually changing toggles and batteries. Eventually I'd like to look into how to really theme or maybe even dev, but for now I'll leave that to the experts
Funny, I've been thinking about switching it up to IOS lately as well. Except in my case, it's not so much about being bored with Android. For me it's the need to stop spending so much damn time messing with my phone. Recently I've started looking at the iPhone's inability to easily customize IOS and install other ROMs/themes as a real positive. It would be nice to once again have a phone that I just look at as a productive tool than a toy to mess with.
After being an avid Android user for the past 3 years, some days I really do miss the simplicity of my old iPhone.
I have a curiosity with the upcoming HTC 8X. I have invested quite a bit of money on Android but I like new toys too.

Try MIUI Launcher.. See what that does for you...
As far as time spent on Android modding and so on. I agree. Apple does tout productive. And it is, to a point. My father in law is a wedding photographer. He uses Apple computers when he needs to edit some. Though he does not need an iPhone for that, it is nice to have most of your hardware from the same company so that the eco system feels complete.
To those on Android that feel like it consumes to much time in doing so. My suggestion is to use a little self control with your devices. I will attest to that being harder than said. But, it is doable. If you need to mod, then do only necessary or central things such as rooting to get useful apps to work. Some home replacement apps have the ability to save the state of setup. Technically this does not have to be such a daunting task, take a couple of days to do this. It doesn't have to be a one day consuming event.
Nowm the one thing that thw iPhone lines have over Android phones is the super wicked frikking awsome accessories hands down. Actually infuriates me at times. The SGS3 should have the same by now. It is on almost all carriers. Oh well, regardless Android rocks. And that is because the Devs that support our phones kick but. You want to talk about time consuming? Devs spend uber amounts of it on thesenphones for us. And the don't ask to get paid for it. And they have jobs and family's like we do.
Also, the act of even having thus tech no matter it be Android, Apple or any other. That in it self is time consuming. I say lets shut down the whole computing and electrical industries and start from scratch. Just live off the land. Essentially, we do things to stay alive. So get rid of all unnecessary things. You will save a bunch of time. Time is only relative to how you spend it. If you live your life to truly better others and your own lives. Then you will not waste any time. Time is only wasted when you and those around you are unhappy.
Ok I'm done, I just went into this long dissertation on life relatively. Sorry.
I just flashed the latest ROM five minuets ago and am finally getting thirty hours of battery time! This is sick!!
So this might be a short story
Back in 2010 I got into android,I wanted to save money left att and got me android phone (htc hero )I actually really like it , 2 months later the evo was announced and I got it the day it came out,now the phone changed everything love the big screen, éclair was good but froyo came out a few months later(yeah the update only took htc few months) and since I had rooted my hero I decided to give it a try on htc evo 4G, rooted and started flashing away, sometimes as bad as 3-4 roms a day. Only rom the would last me a week would be warm 2.2(myn recognized developer) and I got tired of it, didn't have more problems with money I got an iPhone 4 like it but hate it the notifications, switch around 4-5 android phones and by the end of 2011 I was tired of flashing and looking at xda every minute of my life, on October 14 last year I got my 32gb iPhone 4S, got rid of my gs2 (hated the slow camera) And evo 3D. The iPhone last it me a while, when out the country, love the app selection and the pic quality, nothing IMO was better, but htc releases the one x and I like the phone a lot but is on att exclusive so I didn't get it, the gs3 gets announce and I didn't like the whole nature UX crap, plus I was worried about the camera. Sprint gets the Galaxy Nexus and I went to check it out, I ended up buying it, love the phone but hate it the network and the camera... Evo LTE comes out and I got it as well, I took it to Mexico for vacations love the pictures and the screen is just amazing, but sprint here in vegas got overload, speeds sucks... Decided that I wanted to switch networks, I decided to get tmobile a try and get the one s, really slim and nice looking phone but storage sucks and screen was crap compare to 4s and the evo lte, I decided to switch to the gs3(even tho I didn't like it at first) because of the screen resolution and the extra memory, one month ago I was in the same spot as you, the new iPhone was about to get announced I wanted something that was useful and I didn't want to mess anymore, decide to go back to stock(not root). Really like the speed of the phone, great camera, etc. But I couldn't find apps, the play store sucks at that sometimes, on launch day I got me an iPhone 5 and is the best looking phone I ever seen. Not matter what anyone says the phone just look stunning, once I set up my iPhone from icloud I get all my apps and settings back to how I used to have on my 4s it amazes me how good apple could be with some stuff. Didn't like the OS same row of icons from 2007 :/ returned the phone and decided to keep my gs3, plus all my apps had black bars because it hasn't been optimize for the new display. Going back to the gs3 I'm still dealing with apps problem, I asked in the forums and people gave me some good responses, i started using app Aware and looking around the web. Now I have a lot good apps and games that I thought android just didn't have I'm happy with the phone and enjoy it, I think one of the biggest problems with xda members is that we keep flashing the phone too much and it feels more like a task then enjoyment. That's my point of view just enjoy your phone. You can go ahead try iPhone, trust me you going to be excited but who wouldn't is a new phone but at the end I decided to stick up with Android. Google ics changed a lot of the bad things and jellybean as well, I'm excited to see what the next update will have
Sorry for the long post... I might have some mistakes, kind of sleepy when I wrote this...

Is this thread serious?
The beauty of Android is not in simplicity, it's in the ability to choose simplicity if you so desire.. without being forced to.
Perhaps some people can't help themselves and spend hours every week customizing their phone. But that in itself is not an OS issue, it's a self control issue.
Saying that the iOS's restriction on customization would make you more productive is the equivalent to thinking that being in a straight jacket would keep you from using drugs. Of course it would, but it does not address your specific personal issue.
Don't blame Android for your own lack of discipline. Seriously, that is one of the funniest/saddest things I have read on this forum.
I have spent countless hours playing around with customization. When I got bored of it, I simply set up my phone to be the productive tool that some are claiming makes iOS better. Eco system? I have multiple devices from different manufacturers and everything works seamlessly. Yes, it takes more intellect to figure out everything since you pretty much don't have to do anything to make iOS products interact. In fact, they do all the thinking for you. You and your wife have iPhones? And an iPad, and Mac? Great! When those pictures you took automatically sync to every device you own, you can share everything you have in your phone with everyone in your household.. whether you want to or not. Of course, there are safeguards you can set up to prevent certain things from happening, but OH NO - you would have to learn something and spend some time customizing your setup.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3. I have a 55" LG 3D Cinema Smart TV. A Phillips Bluetooth/Android docking stereo. A PC running Windows XP. I can stream my entire music collection through my TV's wireless Bluetooth surround sound system. Or I can stream my Google Music collection through my Phillips Bluetooth stereo/dock, wirelessly or plugged in. I can control my TV from my Galaxy S3, just like a remote control with the LG Smart Remote app from the Play Store. I can stream locally stored music and videos from my S3 to my TV. I watch Hulu/Netflix on my phone, my TV, my PC. I can plug in my phone to my TV via HDMI adapter to watch my Google movies. Or I can watch my Vudu movie collection through my TV. I've barely scratched the surface.
My phone is running Jellybean (CM10), Google Wallet, and Apex. I have no icons anywhere on my home screens. I pinch my home screen and I'm taken to my text messages. I double tap it, file browser. One finger swipe up? App drawer opens. One finger swipe down, status bar. Two finger swipe down, camera. Two fingers up, Quickpic gallery. I pay for stuff by putting my phone against a paypass terminal everywhere. Grocery stores, 7-11, multiple fast food joints, Macy's, CVS, soda machines, gas stations, etc. My facebook feed and news both on separate full screen scrollable widgets. I talk to Google to find out what's going on with the Chargers/Dodgers. I tell it I'm hungry for a specific type of food and it shows me exactly where I can go and which one's the closest. The weather is in my status bar. My phone tells me how long it will take to get home from work, what kind of traffic there is, how many minutes to my favorite lunch spot - without even asking it.
Please tell me what is more productive than that. And I haven't even listed all the things I do with my phone, not even close.
Oh and as for games, I'm sorry.. did we forget about Grand Theft Auto 3? Modern Combat? NBA Jam? I could list another 20 bad ass games on Android, but I'm actually getting tired of typing. Maybe I should have just swyped this all on my phone's keyboard, since Android can do that...
Have fun with your iOS.
IOS is for the small dogs! Android is for the big dogs!!!!" Its that simply!!!!! Who agrees?!

Thanks Take a look at the Kickstarter page if you get a chance, there's so much more to it. For instance, that blue part can slide out and be replaced with a high-quality sound system bar, and other options! We have 14 ideas for Frontbars already...

I think this is a really cool idea. The only real issue that I'm concerned about is how it's controlled. From the demo videos, it looks as though the phone's screen is turned off, is that correct? It seems that could be difficult for trying to highlight segments of text or click into specific fields of an online form.
If you connect a mouse via bluetooth, will you get a cursor on your screen? I am admittedly ignorant to how that works with phones as I have no access to a bluetooth mouse.
Cheers.

Hey Mrwhitepantz, you can connect a bluetooth mouse to your phone and get a cursor on Android. It works great! Also, check out this for details on the screen part, we're using Screen Standby for mouse support http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261907
Awesome idea. I'll buy one.

Bump and a heads up to folks looking at this.
In addition to my support, fellow xda dev zacthespack of LinuxOnAndroid fame has expressed his support of the project as well. A result of this is that I will reexamine Android/Linux hybrid setups and give my findings to the Linux-On-Android team should it become a reality. So if you ever wanted an Asus Padfone or something similar but could not afford it, this may be the way to go. Now you may think that the projected asking price is a little too high but price out an 11.1 HDMI display, BT keyboard and massive battery and the Casedock starts to look pretty inexpensive. Compared to the Padfone it a steal.
I will also examine hw level mods to improve the dock as well and give those findings to the Livi-Design team. This is not about fame or money for me but getting tech convergence into the mainstream and breathing life back into a stagnating industry.

For me this is the most interesting project I have seen on kickstarter. I am following it since 2 weeks and it is very sad to see that it hasn't reached the goal yet. I think the people don't realize the extent of it's usability. I really hope you will try to get this through even if you don't succeed on kickstarter. Unfortunately it will set the release back even farther.
Edit: And it should get a news here on XDA!
