Yes. Either wait for some new weather to come into your area (i.e. different that it currently is) or just toggle Google Now on/off in Google now ---> settings --> Google now --> Top right corner toggle on/off
I see this question is going to get asked a LOT once JB goes public.

I think so too. Google really needs an "always" or "permanent" option for their notifications and cards so they aren't swiped away or deleted so easily!
wather notification is pretty cool, the first day i swipped it out some times but it returned always.. now there isn't anymore

just thought id throw every one a heads up... iv seen people asking about getting toggles in pull down tray well here is a widget that allows you to do just that. plus it has a ton of customization's.

How, without root / flash?
I use Notification Toggle: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.notificationToggle
I think it's the best one because of its customization options and the fact that I can download stock ICS icons for it. Plus, you can add apps (free, included in app) and shortcuts ($0.99 add-on). Like I have the shortcut for my AudioManager Pro Profile list in there and an icon that runs the Lockscreen app (saves pressing the power button to shut the screen off).
I'm not rooted. The only useful thing root would give me is the ability to directly toggle GPS rather than having to go to the settings page, but considering I almost always leave GPS on, I don't really care about that.

+ 1 for that......im using too and it is awesome.....
elixir2 does this also...
I also prefer Notification Toggle over Widgetsoid. Stock icons and the ability to always have it at the top of the notification screen. My only complaint is that it's a little laggy when tapping thru the brightness settings.
I use AoKp to do this without using a app....:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:

If only I liked AOKP. *sigh*
Thanks for the recommendations, shall have to try these, because besides themes, the notification pulldown with a plethora of settings to play with are what I miss most from MIUI builds on the HD2.

Much easier to install a custom rom than an app right? lol
Anyway, +1 for Notification Toggle. I was using Extended Controls for it but Notification Toggle is much better since it stays on top of other notifications and it also replaces the Battery Widget that I was using to display the battery % in the bar.
so have any of these been updated so that i don't have a constant icon running in my notification bar? i don't know why but that's a dealbreaker for me.
btw, i'm not rooting yet until CM9. temporary solutions without the annoying notification icon?
Thanks OP
Forgot about widgetsoid and how awesome it is. Between this and Nova launcher gestures I now have the perfect setup for my home screen because of this.
Swipe up - brings up the app drawer
Swipe down - brings down the notifications
Home button press while on the homescreen - brings up voice search
Any idea how to change the colour of the battery icon in the status bar using the Notification Toggle app? I want to change it to ics blue.

+1 on this. What's worse is they'll give the option for no icon, but then it just leave a blank spot in the notification bar.............
That's a limitation of Android, so until Google offers a better way, that's how it has to be.

Hi,
I'm using stock ROM and stock messaging app and have selected in the options not to display the name or content if new messages in status bar but it doesn't work and still displays it!!
Any ideas please?

Is it any surprise I'm getting rid of my one x literally less than one week after buying...have been quite disappointed with the one x and 52 people read this without any response or confirm if they have a similar issue or not...it would have took 30-60 seconds!
Should have stuck to Samsung's...we'll unfortunately I've already sold my s2 so i guess it'll have to be the new beast s3...
Thanks to those a few that did help on a few things but generally the one x forum is a little cold for me compared to the Samsung just like the HTC phones!

The problem you posted is a little obscure, I've not seen it mentioned in any other threads, perhaps nobody has come across the same issue yet? If people don't know what the answer is then they won't post. The fact that it had so many views and not one response suggests that this is the case and it's not a case of the forum posters ignoring you.

Are you talking about the option Messages--->Menu--->Settings--->Notifications-->Notification Preview, untick the option but the message will still be shown if you pull down the status bar??
From testing on my phone, when you untick the option, and get a text message...I get no preview on the lock screen, the message icon on the status bar (with no preview) but the message is there when you pull down the status bar. To truly get rid of it (no message in the pull down status bar) is to disable Received Notifications but that's counter productive as you get no alerts!
I will test on my Xperia Arc (when I get home from work) and see if it does the same (I have a funny feeling that it will do the same)
I beleive it maybe a generic Andorid thing in terms of messages appering on the pull down status bar (perhaps the more experienced guys and clarify)

Hi thanks that's correct...i still see the preview when you don't with the same settings!
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
It's not that no one has anything to say, it's that no one actually cares about the preview - it's MY phone so I want to see the messages. Do you share your phone? If not, it's a complete non-issue IMO

So you still see the preview on your lockscreen? Or in the status bar? Because that setting doesn't change the status bar preview, just the lockscreen one. But if in the Personalize settings you have the lockscreen type set to notifications preview, it'll show regardless of the messaging settings.

Use GO SMS Pro or Pansi SMS from the Play Store. They're far better then the default SMS app anyway, you'll find many more actually useful options along with your privacy setting, and they also have individual settings for specific contacts, so you can choose only messages from a certain contact to not show in the status bar, if that matters. Works both while using the phone and in the lock screen. The individual settings feature is included with GO SMS and is a plugin for Pansi SMS.
And don't be so impatient. It's not that everyone who reads a thread has to have an answer and reply. Don't go by how many views the thread has got and wait a day or two. There have been so many threads I've read for which I don't have an answer. It's not that people don't care, they'll most certainly help if they know how or have experienced the same thing. Almost everything can be solved, being impatient won't help. Similarly, why would you want to be hasty and get rid of such an awesome phone, that too over such a tiny issue? IMO, phones should only be returned if there's a problem hardware-wise. Not because of app-related problems or operating system problems. There is almost always an (often better) alternative for these things (apps & ROMs).

Hello, problem will remain if he keeps the stock app.
I had two notifications using handcent SMS.
I had to disable the notification from the stock app and only activate handcent notifications and it works perfectly now.
But the stock app is always living by its own without notifying me anything.
You have different notifications : mails, SMS, facebook, twitter, etc.
Which ones are still remaining ? SMS ? Mail ?
And then you also have the reports from sending SMS, this should be also disabled
or you will have receive reports for each SMS you send ...
Hi all.
I am at a loss. Running AOKP (4.0.4) with Nova Launcher. Out of nowhere yesterday, this Power control widget decided to add itself to the notification area. I dont even know how it got there and sure as hell dont know how to get it off of there. I know you can add it to one of the screens but did not know it can be added in that area. Does anyone have any idea where this setting is if it exists? I would like to know how to get rid of it before reflashing the ROM.
I know there is another set of toggles you can add which I had but then I was stuck with 2 power control widgets in the notification area. Thanks.
Try touching the settings button in your notification area
I did but then it adds or deleted another set of toggles on top of that one lol

In your app drawer find "Power Controls" and Uncheck the checkmark in the Notifications widget box, and press the pin button to turn it off in the accessibility menu.
Or
Uninstall the entire app

Thanks, man. That did it. I realized that I hid the app. Once I unhid it and unchecked that checkmark, it went away.

I know. I used Nova in the past. I thought maybe they just added this recently.
its a app named power control.
I updated my Galaxy Nexus to 4.2 using e587de13bf8a.signed-takju-JOP40C-from-JZO54K.e587de13.zip file.
The update seemed to happen fine, and I can access all new 4.2 features, except the Lockscreen widget.
My lockscreen doesnt seem to go right or left. The Google Now bootom-up swipe asks me to enter PIN, unlocks the phone and takes me to thr Google Now window. A back button there takes me to my Homescreen.
Can anyone tell me if I am missing something here?
Thanks,
It's working fine here
Sliding right takes me to the Camera and sliding to the left takes me to other widgets like messaging gmail etc.
Try flashing again. It might help you

When you turn the screen on, you should see two rectangles on the right and left borders of the screen.
Swipe from the clock down to lower your security. Then swipe left or right to access the camera and widgets. To bring your security back up grab the lock at the bottom of the screen and pull it up.

Tried all those and much more, but its still the same.
Other than this, all other 4.2 features work fine.
Same is happening to me and one of my friends (both on takju).
I could swipe from left to right imminently after the update, but after some time i couldnt anymore. Only the clock widget is present.
Can it be because we have corporate email accounts on the phones and it forces the lockscreen to be PIN?
thanks

Any way to workaround this?
So hi, i just registered and using the tutorials provided here i flashed Android 4.2 Jelly bean on my phone, unfortunately something went wrong i guess during the process and my lockscreen is now like this:
As you can see, i don't get the 'google now' and 'camera' option in the lockscreen and there is a weird symbol at the botton of the screen.
If i just slide my finger in the place where those options should be, i get the usual unlock options (like if it was moving..).
Well i just tried to post and i got the message that i can't posts links until i reach 10 posts so im putting the images as attachments
Anyone?

OH, my bad and you are right, apparently the vid i checked to see if that was something going wrong, the person had some kind of customization i guess, i checked some popular reviews of android 4.2 and that is actually how it is supposed to be.
Thanks a lot!
This is 4.2 dude and you've now for home screens in lock screen.
