No HW decoding? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

On MX Player there is an option to pick hardware decoder for a video. But on this phone its locked, and I can only pick software. I am running Skyraider Zeus.

Im running CM9 and I have the option and it works. Did MX prompt you to install the neon codec?

Um nope. I'll try to download it from the market and test.
EDIT: Downloaded it and still don't have the option.

What is the point of your "bump"?

I guess it depends on the video format. I have come across some videos that I can use HW encoding and then some the option will be grayed out.

Playing video on CM7

Is there a way to play video on CM7? I have Rock Player installed to play .avi movies. But they don't seem to be working. Does anyone know a solution.

You should try arcMedia on the market....I can play .avi files with it
I downloaded and tried it. The video still won't play. It's like something is blocking it. It looks like it's gonna start but then it kicks me back out of the app.

VPlayer.
How fast is your MicroSDHC card? I know I have problems with high-def video on the card that came with the phone. I hear that faster cards have better results.

Also what type of video are you trying to play? I've had some issues with some formats...
I'm trying to play .avi files. They usually play fine with Rock Player.

Can not play any video in CM7
If you use rockplayer in software decode mode, it will work... I was having the same issue..

What codec? What resolution? What bitrate?
I'm having the same problem, it looks like its going to start then back to the root of my SD. video format is not an issue because the same videos worked with the same version of rock player on MIUI, CM6, and stock.
So what's the best player that plays avi format files with CM7 rom?
VPlayer works fine for me. Been watching DivX DVDRips all the time with it.

[Q] Video Playback

For some reason my video playback has sucked lately. MP4 files are choppy and slow. I've rebooted, and tried MX Player as well as VPlayer. Any ideas?
What Rom are you using. Using the stock SD card?
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda premium
Running Gingersense with a 1.6Ghz kernel. Stock 16GB micro SD card. The phone itself is quick.
Anything I can do to get it playing videos?

Does anyone have any other ideas? I have since tried two other kernels and two different ROMs. Running Cyanogen 7 now. Video playback still stinks.

Are you using the stock player on a stock rom? The stock epic video player supports a plethora of video codecs and contaniners, if you aren't running stock, perhaps it's something that was removed.

I'm on ics
So what if I just extracted the stock video apk from a stock rom and installed it.. think that would work?
You could try that, but honestly, I'd just grab a 3rd party player from the market that supports your video format of choice. That'e a bunch of options, and it would be easier.
im using the stock deodexed eh06 leak. one thought i have is that maybe the .avi is corrupted? did you try multiple files?

Rockplayer plays avi. I think it actually plays most video files.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
The .avi file is a container for various video formats. Thus some avi files may play while others won't, the best player I've found was Vitalplayer.

I have used doubletwist, which works most of the time. Sometimes, it doesn't and I will use QQPlayer. That thing plays everything
Well I happened to flash randoms hawk v.3.1 and the stock video app in that rom plays .avi fine
Thanks everyone tho

MX Player alternatives for Android 4.3

I just installed Android 4.3 on my nexus 4, and sadly MX Player (pro) does not support this android version yet. I tried Moboplayer as an alternative, but the mkv plays give lots of frame drops.
Is there any decent alternative for this fantastic player until they get it to work on the shining new android version?

I tested 2 episodes of Top Gear in 720p .mkv. On VPlayer video is lagging. On BSPlayer no sound. VLC recognize file as music. Stock player play video without sound too.
On 4.2.2 and MXPlayer it worked great.

Hello,

What kind of SD card are you using? It should be a certain speed in order to record and play 4k smoothly. If it is too slow, it'll be choppy and skip oftenly.
